It was a normal day in class for Izuku, as it always was. Get tortured by hero training, study hard, eat well, and sleep peacefully. But because he always finished homework early, he had time to train extra by himself. Unfortunately, his body was begging for him to rest by the end of today.
With his head buried in his arms after dragging his feet the entire day, he almost fell asleep on his desk when Tenya shook him awake.
"You can take a quick nap at your dorm before getting started on your homework! A classroom isn't a place to sleep in." Tenya stated. His expression was one of concern.
"I'll be there." Izuku said to calm Tenya down. Waving his hand at him, Izuku watched him slowly walk towards the door while stopping periodically to check if he was moving. "I said I'll be there!"
"As your class rep, I have to make sure you're okay! But if you say you'll be there, I trust you!" Tenya grinned at him before marching out of the classroom.
Izuku buried his head in his arms again. He closed his eyes and exhaled a sigh of relief. Just a few more minutes and he would get up. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep for a few minutes, only to be jolted awake by his internal clock screaming at him about how he had to complete his homework tonight.
He sat up in his seat but didn't budge. Nodding off again, he heard a giggle at the doorway. His eyes popped open and met up with a girl with dark green hair. He immediately recognized her as Setsuna Tokage from Class 1-B. He only saw her around the school a few times, but never talked to her in person.
Izuku blinked twice in slight shock before he looked somewhere else. He didn't know what to do when someone he never met came up to him.
"Hi~." She said, breaking the silence while waving her fingers at him.
"Hi?" Izuku nervously played around with his fingers as his brain spun around and around, mostly wondering why a girl had approached him.
"Aren't you supposed to be back at your dorms? Resting and such? Or maybe doing your homework?" She asked, walking into the classroom and making her way to where he was sitting.
"I... I could say the same about you." Izuku responded, trying to avoid the question. Maybe if Aizawa waited for everyone to leave the classroom instead of walking out the moment the day ended, he wouldn't have to spend some awkward minutes with her. Though she was kind of attractive.
"You got me there!" Setsuna sat down next to him and looked around the classroom. "You know, I kinda expected the interior design of Class 1-A to differ from Class 1-B, but they look exactly the same."
"Ah, is that so?" Izuku was screaming internally. He didn't know what to do. There was a part of him that just wanted to run out of the room, but that wouldn't sit well with him. The other part of him didn't want to hurt her feelings and stay put while going along with the flow of whatever she wanted for now.
She crossed her legs and looked around the classroom for a bit more, settling on staring out the window while Izuku started sweating bullets from how awkward it was.
She broke the silence with the sound of her cheerful voice. "Do you wanna go somewhere tomorrow? I know a few places around here!"
"Um... No?"
"Wow, straight-up rejecting an offer to hang out with a pretty girl like me?" Setsuna laughed, her voice containing no hints of rejection. "And can I ask you why?"
"It's just a matter of time. I promised my classmates I would hang out with them tomorrow..." Izuku felt guilty turning down her offer so quickly, even though she seemed pretty excited about it.
"Then when would be a good time?" Setsuna asked, leaning her arms against his desk while supporting her head in her hands.
"E-Either Saturday or Sunday." Izuku straightened himself to back away from her a bit as she came off too strongly. She was an outgoing person, a weakness of his somewhat meek personality.
"Okay, that works! Sunday it is!" Setsuna clapped her hands together, satisfied with his answer. "Make sure to bring some money just in case because we might buy some things!"
Izuku stared at her in confusion. What was her goal? But now that he made a promise with her he couldn't back out of, he felt dread building up in the back of his mind for what was about to unfold on Sunday.
"Oh, also what time do you want to meet up? Is 10 fine?"
"11?"
"Gotcha, I like someone who speaks their minds out!" Setsuna walked out of the room, but before she left, she smiled at him.
Izuku just stared at the doorway. He rubbed his eyes to force himself awake from the weird dream he had just witnessed. He was still sleeping, right? After all, Setsuna would never talk to him.
He shrugged his shoulders and picked up his backpack, walking out of the room with a yawn. Come Sunday, he would figure out if it was a dream or not.
It wasn't a dream. Sunday arrived faster than he could've imagined. Sitting up in bed, Izuku had somehow received a text from Setsuna, explaining how she had gone around asking for his phone number to hold him accountable for their outing.
To Izuku, it just seemed like an excuse to snatch his phone number because she liked him while he was just confused about why she wanted to get closer to him. Still, he ended up texting her back.
Sliding out of bed, Izuku zoomed through his morning routine in the 30 minutes he had remaining since he liked to sleep in on Sundays as there was no class to attend. When he heard a knock at his door, Izuku froze in spot. Slowly opening the door, he found Mina standing outside with her usual grin on her face.
"Mina, is there something you want?" He asked.
"Well, Setsuna told me to relay you the message that she is standing outside the door right now!" Mina exclaimed.
"Even though she has my phone number? And how did she even get it?"
The look on Mina spelled it all. She was the culprit. "Never mind what I did! But our heroic green boy has a date today! How cute!"
"No, that's not what it is!" Izuku protested as he opened the door, trying his best to step past Mina, but she stopped him in his tracks.
"This is what you're wearing to your first date with a girl you've barely known? Come on, you've got to spice things up! Make yourself look presentable!" Mina shoved him back inside his room and closed the door.
Izuku panicked as she went through his clothes, searching for something fashionable he could wear. "Mina, I think I look fine, so could you leave my room?"
Mina took another look at his hoodie and sweatpants and shook her head. "You think? What would she think of you if you wore that on her first date and she was the one who invited you? She wouldn't be very happy now, would she?"
She pulled out a green, long-sleeve button-up shirt and pressed it up against his body. "This works! You look wonderful in it!"
"Uh, thanks?" Izuku laid it over his arm and smoothed it out with his other hand.
"And jeans! You can't go wrong with jeans! Alright, bye!" Mina walked out of the room before he could utter another word out of his mouth.
Izuku stared down at the clothes laid out in front of him and sighed. This was going to be a long day. He changed into them and checked himself out in the mirror. He didn't think he looked any different, but that was just his point of view. He had to consider Setsuna's perspective a bit.
Grabbing his phone and making sure he fixed the collar on his shirt, he walked down the stairs and sneaked out of their dorm building without getting caught. Only Mina noticed Izuku sneaking out the front door.
She winked at him, but he avoided her gaze. He opened the front door and walked out to be greeted by Setsuna standing outside at the staircase up to the building. She turned around upon hearing the door open and grinned; her smile leaving an imprint in his mind.
"Finally, I was about to storm inside to see what was taking you so long!" Setsuna exclaimed with a laugh.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to take so long... I was trying to leave, but one of my classmates held me back, saying I needed to look more presentable."
"Well, you look perfectly handsome," Setsuna commented, poking her finger at his chest.
Izuku blushed and tried to stifle his reaction. However, she noticed his beet-red expression as they walked towards their destination, with Setsuna leading the way. She let out a small laugh before slowing down to match his pace.
As they walked in silence, Izuku took the time to study her appearance. She was wearing a slightly oversized yellow sweatshirt along with skinny jeans that wrapped tightly around her legs. And strapped around her shoulder, she wore a handbag that matched nicely with her clothes. It was a black color, so it reflected nicely off the bright yellow sweatshirt she was wearing.
"Where are we going?" Izuku asked an obvious question that would break the silence between them.
"You'll see!" Setsuna answered, her happiness radiating off her like the sun.
Izuku grimaced. She was keeping it vague on purpose, feeding him a sense of dread as he continued following her. Whatever it was, it was probably going to be more fun for Setsuna than him.
When they arrived at their destination, Izuku stood still and shook his head, trying to walk away, but Setsuna pushed him inside the clothing store with force. She talked to the cashier for a minute while Izuku stood around awkwardly, unsure what to do in a clothing store.
Setsuna suddenly turned around and grabbed his hand to lead him around the store. Izuku turned red from the face down as he could feel the warmth of her hand dispersing around his body.
"This way you can't run away from me!" Setsuna stated, but her smile faded as his beet-red face was prominent. "Are you really embarrassed by us holding hands?"
"Well, yes, but no... I mean, look at me! I'm standing with you in the woman's cloth section! It's a bit weird, isn't it?" Izuku responded, trying to change the subject.
Setsuna laughed at his reaction and handed him a girl's crop top, which he freaked out to and dropped on the floor. This, in turn, made her laugh harder.
"I-It's not funny!" Izuku picked it back up with two fingers as if he was handling something contagious and put it back on the rack.
"No, I beg to differ. This is seriously funny!" Setsuna wiped a tear from her eye and handed him a bra, causing him to yip in surprise and shove it back in her hands.
"Please stop! You're going to make me explode from embarrassment...!" Izuku covered his face with his hands and squatted down on the ground while Setsuna died of laughter.
She was a dangerous one. She was obviously trying to elicit a reaction out of him and it was working. Oh, what Izuku would do to go home at the moment.
Setsuna hummed to herself in satisfaction as she went through the clothes, scanning which one would fit her the best.
She picked out a white dress and pressed it up against her body. She turned around and smiled as she showed Izuku her selection. "How do I look?"
"Er... With your eyes?"
Setsuna rolled her eyes at his response and shook the dress in front of his face. "Well, how do you think I would look in this dress, not how I would see with my vision!"
"Oh..." Izuku smiled sheepishly and stared at the way the dress looked on her, but he couldn't imagine her wearing any fancy clothes. "I think you look better with the sweatshirt."
Setsuna looked down at the dress and back up at him. "Hey, why are you trying to change the topic? Give me a proper response!"
"No, I'm not changing the topic or anything, but you just look better with casual clothes is all I'm saying!"
"Really?" She asked, holding out the dress and looking down at herself. "I mean, they fit me quite comfortably, though I kinda wanted to wear sweatpants today instead of jeans. But that would be too casual in my opinion."
"Maybe we should just go back home if we can't find anything," Izuku suggested, already walking away until Setsuna put a hand on his shoulder.
"You're not going anywhere, mister," Setsuna said, pulling him to the boy's cloth section.
Izuku begrudgingly followed her, and she began pulling out clothes from the rack to size them on Izuku's frame. When she picked out a few she liked, she sent him packing into the changing room to try the clothes on.
When he stepped outside with the first one, which consisted of a black t-shirt with a plaid shirt on top of it and black jeans, she clapped her hands in joy.
"You look ready for autumn!"
"I don't like it..." Izuku muttered.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing! I said it looks great!" Izuku didn't want to hurt her feelings, especially if she was having some fun.
"That's awesome to hear! Now let's try on a few more!"
"Wait, never mind. I don't like it."
But Setsuna didn't hear him as she handed him the next set of clothing to wear. Izuku reluctantly went inside and put it on before walking out of the changing room again to showcase the specifically chosen attire she chose. Setsuna took pictures of him with a grin on her face.
They did this for the next thirty minutes with Izuku going back and forth, changing clothes every five minutes while she took pictures of every outfit he wore. Setsuna would often laugh every time he stepped out from the changing room to show her.
This made Izuku turn red from embarrassment while some customers around the shop would look over to see what the commotion was.
In the end, they bought some clothes for Izuku, like the black t-shirt and red plaid shirt she had picked earlier for him, while Setsuna bought a pink scarf and a purple winter jacket for herself.
"Man, I didn't know you forgot to bring money!" Setsuna exclaimed, her expression showing the exact opposite of what her disappointed tone represented. "Oh well, have some next time!"
"N-Next time?"
"Of course next time! I gotta show you another place! For now, I want to try on your plaid shirt! May I?" She asked, taking off her purple jacket and handing it off to Izuku.
He accepted it and gave her his red plaid shirt. She accepted it and put it over her yellow sweatshirt. She adjusted it to her liking and looked over at Izuku with a smile.
"How do I look?" She asked.
"With your eyes."
That earned Izuku a playful smack on the shoulder.
