First off: belated happy New Year and welcome to 2022. Last month I said that this fic will be ready by the end of January, but for a reason it ended up getting delayed, in which I won't make any excuses. It is because I caught the COVID despite getting vaccinated, and I believe that I have gotten the Omicron variant. Thankfully I managed to recover while isolating myself inside my house but as a result working on this and my other fanfics slowed down, hence the late update of this fic.

Now that I finished my explanation…time to get down to business…

Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the story picks up where the last chapter left, as Eris is trying to stay strong after learning what befell her family whilst figuring out what to do next, as she is thinking of accepting the noble's OFFER or be with Rudeus.

Ch. 2: Jōnetsu-tekina shunkan e no jokyoku

That night, Ghislaine and Alphonse are outside the house and are still awake, in which both are still at odds about what would be best for Eris, as Alfonse is still insisting that it would be best if Eris would accept the noble's offer to become his concubine so that she would have a better future, but Ghislaine is against it and maintain that Eris is better off being with Rudeus, saying that the younger boy has been with Eris ever since the mana calamity struck two years ago and both teens have just arrived.

Alfonse still believe that his suggestion is best for Eris and felt that she needed to settle down and perhaps accepting the noble's offer is for her own good, which pissed Ghislaine off as she berated him for his selfish point of view, though he maintain that this is better than letting Eris becoming a NOMADIC WANDERER.

"You bastard! Since when did you decide to become a pimp?!"

"Its not for me! It's for Eris-sama!"

"Liar!"

"She needs a place to stay now that her family is…"

"I rather that Rudeus be her family!"

"That's too impractical!"

"Coming from someone's mouth like yours…!"

"I…"

However, the argument was interrupted when representatives of the Greyrat noble came, and Ghislaine gritted her teeth as she recognized them and is appalled at them showing up in the middle of the night, and there the representatives asked if Eris has arrived, saying that if she has, they needed her answer to the noble's offer.

Ghislaine has no intention of telling them that Eris is here and told them that she hasn't seen her yet, and said that even if she do came Eris has no time to entertain such selfish offers and told them to leave, as things are already tense at it is, yet the representatives insisted that Eris must give her answer as soon as possible do that she would have a home to go to.

"Eris must answer."

"Yes, she must give her answer."

"We need her answer."

Pissed off, Ghislaine drew her sword and aimed it at the neck of the lead representative, taking him by surprise as the others were taken aback by what she just did and there she made it clear that as long as she is alive she will not let Eris become a PROSTITUTE and a SEX SLAVE to the noble who used the calamity as an excuse for killing Eris' grandfather just to make himself look good politically.

The seven representatives berated Ghislaine for her actions but she said that if Eris were here she too would use physical threat to convey a message and there she tells the representatives to leave now and not come back, assuring them that she will not hesitate to kill them if this would mean showing the noble that she means business.

"Listen here…I won't repeat myself any further…Eris-sama will not accept the noble's offer!"

"She must!"

"She won't!"

"She has to! There is no other way!"

"Coming from someone like you…!"

"Whether she wants to or not…she must accept the noble's offer!"

"Then perhaps I should behead you…"

"…"

The lead representative wouldn't budge and even tried to justify the noble's actions in having the need to execute Eris' grandfather as a way to show solidarity, and said that this would bring the countrymen together, and insisted that Eris must become the noble's concubine so that she would have a FAMILY to become a part of, though the tone of the explanation bordering that of a sexist.

"And you still insist on that?"

"Because it is needed!"

"Grr…"

"Her life and fate depends on it!"

"This is about her and not you!"

"!"

"So stop acting like an old maid and bring out Eris at once!"

"!"

Angered, Ghislaine did a sword strike and slashed a part of the lead representative's hair, cutting it off and he nearly shrieked like a transvestite, revealing that he is a coward at heart, as his MANLINESS aura was shown to be just for appearance's sake.

The other representatives were shaken by this and ran off like cowards, and the lead representative followed suit, which he is threatening to tell the noble what she just did and assured to her that the noble will have Eris as part of the noble's harem by hook or by crook.

The rest of the representatives vowed to tell the noble what Ghislaine did and assured to her that she has signed her DEATH CERTIFICATE.

"You'll be sorry!"

As the eight representatives left, Alfonse berated Ghislaine for her actions, saying that she is surely going to get herself in trouble, but she said that she doesn't care as long as the noble gets the message loud and clear, and even said that if Eris were here and heard this, she too would do the same, as Eris deserve respect and not treat her as a SEX OBJECT or a mere decoration.

Alfonse insisted that Eris' interest is of utmost importance, and with her family gone, accepting the noble's offer would be her only way for her to have a home, but this pissed her off and grabbed him by his collar while pressing her sword's blade onto his throat, threatening to decapitate him for his foolish notion.

"You listen here…!"

"…"

"I will not let anyone pressure Eris-sama against her will…!"

"…"

"She already had a rough time already…!"

"…"

"Insist that she do as you suggested…I'll kill you! Got that?!"

"…"

However, Eris showed up and placed her hand on Ghislaine's shoulder and told her to calm down, saying that her actions right now wouldn't solve anything. She thanked Ghislaine for standing up for her and said that if she were there she would likely have slaughtered the noble's representatives.

Ghislaine released her hold as Eris tells Alfonse that she has the final say on whether to decide on the noble's offer and tells him that he will not say anything more about it, which he reluctantly obliged, and there she instructed her two retainers to tell anyone other than Rudeus that they have not seen her, which Ghislaine and Alfonse nodded in response.

"Don't tell anyone that I am here. Got that?"

"Yes."

"Even when threatened, you will not say a word about my presence."

"Yes."

"Are we clear on that."

"Yes."

At the road, the eight representatives of the Greyrat noble were shaken by what Ghislaine did, and could not believe that she has the gall to do that, and now they are facing the possibility of incurring the noble's wrath as he instructed them to find Eris and make her accept his offer no matter what.

The eight representatives are now debating on whether to head back to the castle or try returning to the mansion and see if Eris arrived, as they have a feeling that Eris is already here and that Ghislaine is using violence just to cover her presence, which the other representatives agreed that Eris may have been here all this time.

"So then…we should do some reconnaissance…I believe that Eris is here and is just hiding from us…"

"Yes…"

The eight representatives then huddled and came up with a plan, which they agreed that they are going back to town and spy on the manor and see if Eris is indeed there while the rest would try to sneak in and see where Eris is hiding, which the rest agreed to the idea.

"So…are we in agreement…?"

"Yes…"

Then they realize that Rudeus might be with Eris and the representatives are now enacting a plan to bribe the younger boy into abandoning her so that Eris would be pressured into accepting the noble's offer, which the representatives are in agreement, seeing that bribing Rudeus would work in their favor.

"So then…we stick to the plan. Are you with me?"

"Yes…"

However, someone came as he happened to pass by and overheard the conversation, and he is clearly not pleased with what he just heard, and that person turn out to be Ruijerd Superdia, and there he told the representatives to stop harassing Eris and Rudeus as well as to leave the two minors alone.

The representatives saw Ruijerd and recognized his appearance, and trembled in fear, but he told the eight men that he would spare them if they promise to leave Eris and Rudeus alone from this point on, and the eight representatives kneels down and bowed, begging for mercy and said that they were only following orders.

Ruijerd then stomped his sword on the ground and tells the eight representatives to leave and keep their promise, and threatened to kill them if they break their word, which the men caved in like despotic idiots and promised to keep their word while running away like cowards.

"I'M SORRY!"

"FORGIVE ME!"

"SPARE ME!"

"DON'T KILL ME!"

"I'M SORRY!"

"FORGIVE ME!"

"SPARE ME!"

"DON'T KILL ME!"

As the eight representatives left, Ruijerd watched them leave while looking at the other way, and is confident that Eris and Rudeus will be okay, knowing that they can weather whatever crisis they are facing.

Back at the manor, the scene shows that the time now is 23:30, and Ghislaine is about get a glass of milk when she noticed something from another room where a light is seen behind the door. Ghislaine ignored it at first, but her curiosity got the best of her and decided to peer through, and is surprised to see Eris putting on a red-colored nightgown.

Ghislaine wondered why Eris would dress like that until she sensed that Eris is about to do something, and there Eris noticed Ghislaine, which the younger girl blushed as she intend not to let anyone see her wearing this, but Ghislaine assured to Eris that she won't tell anyone.

"Eris-sama…"

"Ghislaine…um…"

"Its okay. No one else will know."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"…"

"Your secret is safe."

"…"

Ghislaine then asked if Eris is sure about this, which the blushing Eris nodded, and there Ghislaine tells Eris to go for it, as she deserved it and said that Rudeus is the right person for her and that the two deserve to be happy, and reiterated that Eris and Rudeus should elope and go somewhere far away.

Eris nodded and thanked Ghislaine as she is heading for the room where Rudeus is, and Ghislaine watched as she expected something like this to happen, but she knows that this is for the best.

Inside the room, Rudeus is laying on bed, only in his brief while holding a chalice containing red wine, as he is in deep thought about today's events, as he wondered what he could do to help, knowing that Eris is suffering emotionally after everything that happened in the past two years, and now she has to face the possibility of whether to accept the noble's SEXIST offer or not.

"Eris…will she be okay…?"

Hope you liked this chapter, though I apologize if you were expecting the love scene between Eris and Rudeus like in the light novel, manga and episode 22, but I decided to move it to a later chapter as I decided to come up with an origin story about the events that happened before the much-anticipated love scene, so I came up with a plot device where Eris is contemplating whilst Ghislaine is protecting her from the noble's representatives trying to pressure Eris into becoming the noble's concubine.

Now that part is over, the actual main plot is approaching…
