Captain Ukitake, Toshiro and Rangiku were walking through the streets of the Hanten Soul Society.
"You seem to be deep in thought, Captain Hitsugaya. Is something bothering you?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. Before coming here, I had my questions about this issue. I doubted whether they were the right ones to ask, but after seeing Eren Yeager with my own eyes, I can say that I was right to ask them."
"What do you mean?"
"His eyes. His eyes are not of a killer. At least not the eyes of one who enjoys it. When I saw his eyes, I didn't see pride or happiness. I only saw peace…and pain. "
Ukitake then looked at Rangiku
"What about you, Lieutanant Matsumoto? Why did you- Matsumoto?"
Rangiku was in a daze with a goofy smile on her face. Her face was red
"MATSUMOTO!" Toshiro called out
Rangiku snapped from her daze. She looked at her captain and gave an awkward smile "C-Captain?"
Toshiro gave a disappointed look "You were thinking about Eren Yeager's abs, weren't you?"
"He's the complete package! Not just abs!" She blurted out. She then covered her mouth with her palms
Toshiro stared at her in diappointment
"Um…Uh…You see…" She turned her eyes away
Ukitake looked at her in disbelief "Unbelievable."
Toshiro put his hand on his head "Don't tell me you supported Eren Yeager just because he's attractive."
"Of course not! I supported him because there were some things about this that seemed kind of shady to me."
Hitsugaya raised an eyebrow "Shady?"
"Yeah! I mean, we still don't know how he killed 2 billion people in 4 days! And even though we came for their support, I think the Hanten Soul Society is still holding back a lot of details about what actually happened."
"Hmm…that's true. They're another few questions to be asked." Toshiro said
"Exactly what questions do you have Captain Hitsugaya?"
Toshiro lifted his fist and slowly began to release his fingers to count
"#1 : How did Eren Yeager manage to kill 2 billion people in such a short time? What powers did he use? #2: Why did he commit an act like that? What did he want to accomplish? #3: Who exactly is Eren Yeager? What kind of a person is he? #4:What is the world that he lives in? #5: What is the Hanten Soul Society hiding about Eren's case? #6:and most importantly, why is Lord Enma in favour of him? Why would he use all his authoritative power to save a man who commited genocide?
All of them are so absorbed in the fact that he committed genocide that they fail to see the anomalies of it.
Unless I get the answers to these questions, I can't come to a decision"
Ukitake thought for a few minutes.
"You've raised some very interesting questions Captain. We'd probably get some more information about what's happening here if we raise these questions in the Hall."
Two hours later
All the Shinigami assembled in the Hall after the least session. Everyone eyed the shirtless man who was the center of attention in the room. He was in the same position as before. He took a glance at Ichigo and the others when he heard Rukia's voice
"Stop showing off your stupid sunglasses Renji! It's embarrassing."
Their eyes and Eren's met for a few seconds as he stared at them in interest. Toshiro and Ukitake looked at him with the same interest. Rukia, Ichigo and Renji glared at him. Sado and Ishida eyed him in fear. Orihime hid behind Ichigo in fear. He then slowly turned back and smiled again
"What the hell was that?" Renji whispered.
"Stay on guard. We don't know what he's thinking." Rukia said
"With all due respect, Kuchiki Rukia, don't you think you're over reacting a bit?" Toshiro retorted
Rukia was about to counter when the session was resumed by Lord Enma
"Thank You for your assistance, fellow Shinigami, in these dire times. So now, we resume the trial for the criminal, Eren Yeager who has been found guilty of genocide. In our previous session, we have voted on whether or not to sentence him to hell for his crimes. In this session, you will still be physically restrained by seals. However, you are allowed to verbally state your opinion on the floor. Coming to the results of the voting, the results for the vote have interestingly turned out to be equal on both sides."
Whispers and gossip spread among the audience
"Equal? How can this be? It should have been a clear unanimous vote for what he did!"
"Impossible! Since when was a crime like genocide forgiven? And that too on such a large scale?!"
"I'll bet he somehow has Lord Enma wrapped around his finger! There's no other explanation!"
"SILENCE!" Ryuji Shino screamed.
The hall turned silent in an instant. Lord Enma continued
"After contemplation with the elders, here's our judgement. In view of the current situation, Eren Yeager will be offered a test to prove himself: If he fails the test, he'll be sentenced to hell to repent for his sins…If he doesn't fail…"
All of the members in the room gulped…anticipating what Lord Enma would say…
"HE WILL BE RECRUITED AS A SHINIGAMI!"
These words shook the whole Soul Syndicate.
"WHAT?!"
