All the Shinigami in the room were shell-shocked by this judgement. Soon after the whole room gave a uproar in revolt to the words of Lord Enma

"IS LORD ENMA OUT OF HIS MIND?!"

"A MAN LIKE HIM DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE TO STEP INTO THE SOUL SOCIETY MUCH LESS INTO IT'S MOST SACRED CITY!"

"THIS IS COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS!"

"Recruiting a devil like him as a Shinigami?! What has the Soul Syndicate come to?!"

Ichigo and the others couldn't believe what they were hearing

"D...Did I just…hear that right Rukia?" Renji stammered out

"I…I don't know Renji. I…It sounded like L-L-Lord E…Enma j…just…" she couldn't form the words since her head itself was not ready to accept the current events

"What is that kuso oyaaji thinking?! Does he not realize he's dealing with a goddamn mass-murderer?!" Ichigo growled

Byakuya had his eyes wide open

"This is madness. Complete…utter…chaos."

Although Toshiro supported Eren, this still came as shock to him. At the most, he expected Eren will be given a peaceful life in the Soul Society. But becoming a Shinigami…

"This is a very…interesting turn of events, Captain Hitsugaya." Captain Ukitake mouthed

"Hmm…I'd say. I never expected this outcome. Not even in my wildest imaginations."

"SETTLE DOWN!" Lord Enma screamed. No one paid heed. He then used his zampacto and sent a tremor across the room. Every one shut up and looked at him.

"TO continue, Eren Yeager will be given a chance to prove himself. In the next 60 years, he will be trained as a Shinigami by the Soul Society I choose, followed by his service to the same to cleanse himself of his sins. If, at any point it is proved, I repeat PROVED, that he is not worthy of the role of Shinigami, I will personally escort him to the gates of hell. If you ask me, you should take this chance, and redeem yourself."

All the other Shinigami growled at Eren as Lord Enma waited for his answer

Eren had his head down with his bangs covering his face

"Lord Enma, there's one thing that has bothering me for a while." Eren asked

"Speak your mind, boy."

"Ever since I came here, all I've been hearing is 'Send him to hell' , 'Send him to hell', 'Send him to hell'. What exactly do you mean by the word 'hell'?"

Voices then came up from the crowd. Lord Enma tried to silence them, but failed.

"It's the place where scum like you are sent!"

"It's punishment for your sins you fiend!"

"Those giant monsters will be very entertained with a devil like him!"

This caught Eren's ear

"Giant…monsters?" He asked slowly as he slightly turned to them.

The others grinned evilly, seeing him seem interested in the monsters of hell

"That's right! They're huge monsters 100 times larger than you! They will torture you for eternity!"

"What? Do they eat you or something?" Eren asked

"Believe me, that's what you'll beg them to do so! No matter how hard you hone your skills, you'll never win against them! Your hopes will be crushed, you're body will be tortured, and you lose the ability to think! "

"They'll show you the most terrifying nightmares until you can't tell what's reality or fiction anymore! They feed on your pain and fear!"

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Lord Enma screamed to which the room became silent. He then turned to Eren for his answer.

Eren began to slightly shiver

"So that's how hell is like, huh?" He said in a low tone

All the Shinigami against him slightly smirked in satisfaction as they waited for him to cower in fear and beg Lord Enma to not send him to Hell.

But what happened next shocked everyone

Eren then began laugh…loudly, uncontrollably. His laugh reverberated throughout the whole building. He laughed so hard that slight tears came out of his eyes after which he fell on his knees since he couldn't put his hand on his stomach. Lord Enma fisted his hands, closed his eyes and bent his head down

Ichigo and the others stared wide-eyed at the scene before them. Orihime hid herself behind Ichigo in fear as she shivered and held on to his shoulders firmly.

"That…bastard…He's…laughing?!" Ichigo exclaimed

"What the hell is wrong with this this guy?!" Renji gritted

Rukia growled as he saw Eren enjoying himself like this

Toshiro looked wide-eyed at him

"This guy…It's not like he's confident that he's not going to hell…it's more like…"

Eren then stopped laughing and after taking a few breaths, he said with an evil grin as he raised his head forward.

"In that case…I have a few terms you have to agree to if I have to work for you."

A/N: For Eren's Laugh, I imagined it more to be like a cross between his laugh when Hannes died and Light's evil laugh (Death Note).
