Headache. The next thing he felt was a terrible hangover. He knew he shouldn't have had four bottles of ale last night. But if the Scouts were used to something, that was drinking. Especially the veterans. The veterans of the Scouts consumed lots of alcohol for obvious reasons.

Moblit tried to move his leg, but he realised he couldn't. It took him a moment to regain his senses. It almost felt like there was another leg on his own, blocking him from moving. And then he felt hair tickling his chin. And then there was the weight of a head on his chest. The feeling of smooth skin beneath his fingers. His hand was around the waist of a woman and he didn't know whether he wanted to open his eyes and see who that was. He had a very bad idea of what was going on.

Moblit hesitantly opened his eyes, and his worst fears were realised. He would recognise those brown, oily hair everywhere. And her body, so well built, and perfect, and sexy… fuck. His ego would never allow him to admit this in front of her, but Hange could be so damn sexy if she wanted to. He couldn't believe her wonderful, naked body was pressed against his own. His eyes widened when the realisation struck him.

But then she lifted her head and finally snapped out of her sleep, and realised that she had slept with him and that he was naked, and that she too was naked. They both panicked.

"AAHH!"

"AAHH!"

It came out in unison. Both screamed at each other's faces. Hange moved away from him immediately and she wrapped the bedsheets around her, uncovering his own body. Moblit panicked even more. He jumped off the bed, and he grabbed a pillow, covering the intimate area between his legs.

"WHY ARE YOU NAKED?!" Hange cried out.

"ME?! Why are YOU naked?!" Moblit cried out.

"How can I FUCKING know! All I remember is I passed out!"

"And all I remember is that I brought you here!"

"AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED?!"

"I DON'T KNOW!"

Hange was breathing heavily. She kept the bedsheets tightly around her naked body, covering each part of her but her head. The realisation struck her and her eyes widened. "Did we… did we FUCK?!"

Moblit parted his lips to speak, but he just couldn't say it. He had just slept with his Section Commander. His superior. Oh, how scandalous… He rubbed his forehead with one hand, whilst the other kept using the pillow to cover her himself. He groaned.

"Look, let's forget what happened here. You were drunk, I was drunk, it was all just a big, terrible misunderstanding," Moblit tried to reason. "We didn't know what we were doing!"

"Yeah! Right! Right! You're right, let's just…" Flashes of last night came back to her. The memory of her riding Moblit's dick to oblivion. Hange gulped. "…forget about this," How in the world was she supposed to forget about this?! More images came back to her and she had to admit: it was phenomenal.

"I- I- I need to get dressed. I can't walk out of your room naked! Somebody will see!" Moblit said alarmingly as he picked up his clothes that he had discarded on the floor last night. Hands were still trembling from the realisation.

"Y- Y- Yeah! Sure! You can use my bathroom!"

"R- R- Right, thanks!"

No! No, no, no, no, no, no, NO! That was terrible! It drove Nathalie insane. Her theory about injecting Connie's mom with Eren's TSF, was wrong. She was never going to try it on Connie's mom if she didn't make sure she was absolutely certain it was going to work. Mrs. Springer wasn't a test subject. She'd never treat her like one, and she was glad that she hadn't went straight and injected her with Eren's TSF, because it turned out, that if she had, she would inherit the Founding and the Attack titan. She had no idea how this was supposed to work, but nobody ever said there can't be two Attack titans or two Founding titans, right? Right?

"The Founder can resurrect members of the Nine…"

Nathalie's fingers clenched around her hair. She was about to pull every strand of hair out of her skull. She couldn't fail on this. She couldn't not figure this out. She had promised Connie she'd bring his mom back. She had promised him. She couldn't fail.

She couldn't.

Nathalie grabbed a lancet that she had nearby. She needed human blood samples, and she was the only one available right now. She couldn't wait for Hange to find her a test subject. But then, with all those people we have imprisoned from the previous overthrown government, then I could easily… She groaned. She didn't have time for this. She pinched her thumb with the tip of the lancet and a drop of blood slipped out.

She ignored the sting, and she let it drop on the transparent slide. Then, she added a drop of an unintelligent titan's TSF. Her eyes widened. It didn't react. At all. It was supposed to start fuming with titan smoke, but it didn't. Her eyes widened. What the hell's going on?! Why did everything just stop making sense?!

Nathalie sucked in a deep breath. She had to keep herself calm. She had to stay calm if she was to figure this out. She was in the labs of the Survey Corps HQ in Trost. Levi was in the same building, and Queen Historia was attending meetings with him and the officers of the rest of the Regiments, to discuss her plans about the orphanages. Historia was already making her proud as a Queen.

Just thinking about it, Nathalie smiled and she tried to calm down and stop panicking. Alright, if TSF does not react with my blood, it means that I do not have the genes that turn people into titans. Which means I'm not an Eldian. Her eyes widened. That last sentence, a thought that wasn't her own. What are Eldians? She couldn't tell for sure, but she was willing to bet that Eldians are the people who have those genes that can turn into titans. The Subjects of Ymir.

Ymir the Founder.

"Ymir Fritz. The wife of King Fritz. Two-thousand-years ago, her spine was joined with a parasite. That parasite helped her give birth to the Eldians. People who can turn into titans if their titan genes are activated,"

Nathalie had no idea whose voice that was. She was getting a headache, but she could hardly care about it right now. All she had to do was write it all down to her notebook. And then she remembered the titan that they had found with Hange. The titan that could talk. It said to Ilse: Subjects of Ymir. And then it had bowed to Ilse as if it was honouring him somehow.

There was no doubt now that that titan was a human once. An Eldian, that had been injected and had turned into a titan. Nathalie thoroughly remembered Levi, her beloved husband, killing off the titan who could have taught them so much. She groaned and she buried her face in her hands.

"King Fritz and Ymir Fritz had three daughters. Maria, Rose, and Sheena,"

Nathalie's eyes widened. The walls! She wrote it down right away.

"King Fritz had his daughters eat their mother's limbs, and thus passing down the power of the titans to them,"

Nathalie cringed on that part, but she wrote it down anyway. And then there was a question that came to her. Why did they have to eat her? But it made sense. The parasite was attached to the spine. It couldn't have modified Ymir's gametes, and there was no way her children could have inherited the parasite's abilities. But they had to eat her in order to get the titan genes that the future generations inherited.

She was snapped out of her thoughts when Hange walked in. She had a few blocks of ice trapped in a cloth that she was pressing on her head. Hange groaned as she sat beside Nathalie on the bench, and she rested her elbow on the table where Nathalie was making her research on. Hange wasn't her lively self. Nathalie raised an eyebrow. She must have been having a massive hangover.

"You look like shit," Nathalie commented as she took off her glasses and let them hung from a rope around her neck.

"Thank you, Nat, that's exactly what I wanted to hear right now," Hange said sarcastically. She groaned and she pressed her forehead against Nathalie's shoulder. "I did something horrible last night, Nat," She confessed.

Nathalie's eyes widened worriedly. She passed her hands around her friend's shoulders. A hand reached for Hange's hair, caressing soothingly. "Oh God… what did you do?" She braced herself for something absolutely terrible. Like accidentally blowing up an orphanage or something.

Hange lifted her head off her shoulder, and she grasped Nathalie tightly by the shirt. "WE FUCKED!"

Nathalie's eyes widened even more. It wasn't what she expected but still… "WITH WHO?!" A horrible feeling of dread gathered in her stomach. Could it have been Erwin?! But then she scolded herself mentally right away. Don't be stupid! He can fuck whoever he wants!

"Moblit, dammit! Who else?!" Hange cried out before she buried her face back on Nathalie's shoulder. Her fingers clenched around her friend's clothes. "Please, don't tell this to anyone. We agreed to never talk about this!"

Nathalie couldn't understand. Hange was the one trying to flirt with Moblit almost all the fucking time, wasn't she? "What do you mean? That's great! So you guys are… together-?"

"NO!" Hange snapped, lifting her face back up to look at her friend with wide eyes.

"Why?!"

"We were drunk! We didn't know what we were doing! It didn't mean anything! I can barely remember what happened! But what I remember- Oh my God, he's a SEX GOD and he doesn't even look like it, right? RIGHT?"

Nathalie tried her best to keep the smile on her face. There was no way anybody could be compared to Levi in bed, but I'll pretend I agree. "You don't say!"

"YES! But this morning when we… By the Walls! It was the most awkward situation I've been in in my entire life!" Hange cried out and then she winced by a sudden pain that struck through her forehead.

Nathalie's hand found her chin, rubbing gently, trying to fumble through her knowledge on how to treat headaches. "You know what might help with that? Water. Lots of water. Or maybe an apple would be good too,"

"Sure, if you toss it onto my head," Hange said sarcastically, as she pressed the ice on her head and she winced once more.

"Still, I just think that you two are acting like children and that you should get together already," Nathalie grinned.

"Already? Speaks the one who took her twenty-five years to realise she's fallen head over heels for her childhood friend," Hange grinned.

Nathalie cringed as she realised, she was right. "Yeah… you may be right about that,"

"So, what are you working on, fill me in. I need something to distract me right now," Hange said and she finally took the ice off her head and she turned at whatever Nathalie had scribbled down on her notebook.

"I hope your headache's allowing you to read," Nathalie said as she handed Hange her notebook and Hange started reading.

Hange's eyes widened after just a few seconds. "Are these the voices of your ancestors inside your head?!"

"Yes!"

Hange parted her lips to speak but the door opened and Nifa rushed in. "Commander! Lieutenant! You won't believe what we found in the catacombs of the Royal Palace. You need to see this,"

●▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۞۩๑▬▬▬▬▬●

Everybody was there. Commander Erwin, Commander Pyxis, Commander Nile, even the Premier of the Regiments, Darius Zackly. Nathalie spotted Levi in the crowd of all the high-ranking officers of the Military. Hange and Nathalie hurried towards Levi and Moblit who were already there, ready to ask about what the hell they had found in the Catacombs of the Royal Palace that Historia was currently residing in.

As far as Nathalie knew, hers and Levi's squad were training with Hange's squad, so for now they couldn't be there. Levi turned and he placed a hand on Moblit's shoulder, making him turn and look at the two who hurried over them.

"What's going on?" Hange asked.

"Last night, one of the maids claimed she had caught the smell of rotting flesh in the basement. The guards found a secret passageway that leads in a maze of catacombs," Moblit explained and they all turned and looked as some soldiers of the Military Police carried out corpses of some men dressed in white. The stench was foul.

"These men have been dead for days," Levi pointed out.

"What killed them?" Nathalie asked.

"We don't know yet. There's no sign of struggle, nor wounds on their bodies. No bleeding," Levi answered.

"Could be poisoning," Hange suggested.

"Could be," Levi shrugged.

"What gets me is how they're dressed," Hange said.

She ignored the smell and she approached one of the corpses that was laid down on the large courtyard of the palace. Nathalie followed her and she realised Hange was right. They were dressed in white, doctor's robes. Hange knelt down beside the corpse, and she grabbed a pencil that she had in the pocket of her pants, and she used it to open the corpse's mouth.

Levi tried his best to hold back a grin of disgust. "Oi, Four-Eyes! What the hell are you doing?!"

"Are you seeing this, Nat?!" Hange turned at Nathalie whose eyes were widened staring shocked at the dead scientist's mouth. He didn't have a mouth. It had melted away. The teeth, the cheeks that had sank in. The tissue inside. It all looked so damn familiar.

Moblit knelt down as well. "Do you remember chemistry class in the University?!" He turned at Hange, and Hange nodded.

"This is… Hydrogen Cyanide…" Nathalie mumbled, shocked. Why would anybody swallow that?! But she knew the answer. It was all coming back to her. But so was the headache.

"Mind explaining what that is?" Levi asked. He felt like the dumbest one amongst the three scientists who seemed to have figured out the entire thing.

"Hydrogen Cyanide is a gas, but can be converted into a liquid form and can be used as a poison," Hange started.

"It reacts with an enzyme in our cells, that helps with the transition of oxygen and carbon dioxide. It basically doesn't let the cells carry any of the two gasses, and the person ends up suffocating to death," Moblit explained.

"He took a pill…" Nathalie spoke and the three turned and looked at her. The headache returned back in full force. This was all too familiar. "…Hydrocyanic acid pills are what Marley's soldiers use as a last resort. A suicide pill. They can't afford being caught and questioned by the enemy, so they choose to commit suicide instead," She had no idea what she was saying. She had no idea how she knew this.

"Marley?" Hange asked.

"A country… a Nation… the enemy-"

Nathalie hadn't realised how weak her body was at the moment. Blood slipped out of her nose and spilled on her white shirt. Her forehead was burning. The pain, almost too much to handle. She would've fallen on the floor if Levi hadn't caught her. Arms slipped around her, keeping her standing on her feet. Levi pressed his handkerchief on her nose, wiping the blood. Her body, limp in his arms. His eyes widened. What's wrong with her?! It terrified him.

"You need rest. Stop thinking for now, you'll figure this out later," Levi said alarmingly, trying his best to hide the terror in his voice. His one arm was tight around her waist, the other kept the handkerchief to her nose. The white fabric, now painted in red. Nathalie's head rolled back on his shoulder tiredly.

"I'll go grab some ice, I'll be right back," Moblit said before he set off right away to the direction of the palace. The ice would help stop the nosebleed.

Hange caught Nathalie's hand with both her own. Her eyes, wide in alarm and worry as she stared at her friend. "Nat, what's going on? What's happening to you?! Tell us dammit!"

"The memories… the knowledge… it's too much…" Nathalie's eyes rolled up and she stared up at the bright blue sky and she wondered, how much time she had left to just stare at it. The realisation that hit her, too painful to bear, but they had to know. At least, Levi had a right to know. "…that's why the… the Burgesses, just like the titan-shifters, they… they die… young,"
