Sorry this chapter is so late! Got the ole seasonal depression plaguing my mind, but you know that only fuels the angst. So here we go! This chapter and future chapters are going to be a little challenging, I am trying to portray characters other than the main three I stick with so bear with me and let me know what I can work on- gently. :')

When May had returned from her long shift she had hoped Peter would have been awake- instead he was asleep AND had a pretty major concussion.

Despite Tony trying to ease her worrying, she remained on high alert. She could see right through the billionaire as he said the very few positive things that could be said about this mess of a situation. The fact that Peter had been strapped down heavily to the medical table and hooked to an emergency sedative IV that could be triggered at the click of a button did not bode well on the aunts anxiety.

May had situated herself on the rather comfy recliner that Tony had brought in for her, he had warned her to not sit too close but she didn't listen- Tony had decided to stop trying to argue with her about it, she should be fine anyways with the amount of restraints Peter had on him. He hated looking at the kid all bound up like he was some kind of criminal- but he knew Peter would want the same to be done, he would never forgive himself if he really hurt anyone.

Tony knew that much- he hadn't expected the kid to bash his head though, it made a chill run down his spine, gave him the same feelings he had almost a year ago when he had caught Peter after the teen jumped from the tower. But this was different- he was just trying to restrain himself- not kill. Honestly if he hadn't done that there was a pretty good chance he would have escaped. That couldn't happen, especially with the new psychosis symptoms. Tony ran his hands over his face, feeling the pressure of the situation weigh heavily on his shoulders.

Bruce had been hard at work with several other people on his team to examine the mutated samples they had collected. Not much was coming out of it though, they had a sample from before Peter woke and after he had the episode of rage- it was obvious the mutation had further mended in with his DNA. They were at a complete loss and the night was flying by- meaning Peter would likely be waking up soon- hoping for answers to ease his fears. Time was not on their side at all.

May came and went- but with her double shifts and need for enough sleep to function she wasn't around nearly as much as she wish she could have been. It seemed Peter had a knack for waking up when May was not around because two hours after she left for her next shift Peter awakened with a horrible scream.

Tony was out of it beside the bed, he had leaned back in a recliner- the scream jolted him awake- he didn't think as he rushed forward, everything happened too quick. One second he was sound asleep and the next he was being choked by a monster made up of the same sticky black goop that Peter had been enveloped with earlier.

"Pete! I know you're still there! Stop!...Stop..." Within minutes Tony was out cold and slung into the glass wall of the room- shattering upon impact as he crashed through.

"Do not come after us- I will kill him."

Tony gasped- both for one last attempt of air and also the fact that the bastard just talked, he was out cold as he made impact.

Bruce and several guards came running at the crash- but it was too late to retaliate. Glass shattered again- this time coming from the window of the medical bay. Peter was gone.

"Shit." Bruce rushed towards the window, the 14 floor drop hadn't affected whatever that thing was that now had Peter. He stared in awe as the creature used the black substance it was made of and flung itself towards the city just as Peter did with his own webs. Except this was far more impressive because the thing was massive- it was completely enveloped around Peter AND retaining its own form. Whatever it was- the DNA samples did not aid in the explanation of its existence at all. Bruce and the other top scientist had gathered it was feeding off Peters energy and letting him live- it was a symbiotic relationship but that didn't make him feel confident that this thing would take too much and just continue to feed until Peter died- moving on to the next victim. It was obvious at this point that they were dealing with an off world entity- meaning they had no leads. No means to help peter get rid of this thing.

"We will figure it out." Bruce mumbled to himself as he turned from the window and stalked over to Tony who had already been lifted onto a medical bed. "Alright, lets get him to the next room over and access these lacerations- some might need stitches. Bruce got out his cellphone with a sigh, "Tony is not going to like this but...at this point we need all the help we can get."

Meanwhile...

"Thank you Captain America!"

"Its no problem! Keep him close, animal control around here is really heavy! Don't want to lose him." With a wink, Steve handed over a shaking cat that was only moments ago stuck in the highest tree of central park.

Sam's voice came to life across the Coms as Steve walked away- "Remember when we handled Avenger level things?"

Steve smiled softly, "It might be a little more boring but I'll take this over fighting world destroying threats any day."

"Psh, I guess."

Suddenly a hurried voice blasted across the Com's, a foreign hint of fear in his voice. "Uh Sam, I think I may have found something closer to Avenger level. There is some kind of monster here on third street- I think I'm going to need backup- shit!"

"Bucky?! Hold on- we are in route!"

Falcon swooped down from his place near central park and grabbed a hold of Steve, he had recently modified his suit to better handle the weight of an extra person relying on the boosters- a feat that would have been much easier with Tony Stark's help. But of course- as usual, all the team was in a feud and not on speaking terms.

They arrived in no time but what they found was only a mess left behind- no sight of a monster though. Just an apartment complex with a massive hole blasted out of the side, no one on the vacant floor thankfully.

The damage was incredible- it hadn't even been five minutes since Bucky had told them he was being attacked.

"Barnes, report."

Nothing.

Falcon pulled up the location that pinged from each communicator and saw Bucky was right under them- "Shit, Cap, I think he was thrown into the building."

Steve's stomach dropped as they landed on the destroyed level of the abandoned apartment complex, both set off on opposite ends of the room carefully to search, the roof had caved in completely as soon as the cement wall had been destroyed. Steve dug through the rubble with a sick feeling in his stomach, the feeling only grew as his hands landed on the arm of his friend. His face paled, "Oh my god- he has been impaled by a stop sign."

"Excuse me?!" Sam ran over to where Steve was- sure enough the bottom end of a street sign was jutting out of Bucky's stomach, a stream of blood gushing from his stomach and mouth. "Holy shit."

There was no hesitation as Steve started to dial for Tony- his actions were stopped short as Bruce's name popped up on his cell.

"That's freaky."

Steve ignored Falcons comment as he answered, he tried to keep his shaking voice calm but it looked so bad. His best friend was bleeding out right in front of him. "Bruce- I actually need to talk to you, we need an emergency team out here ASAP, I can clear a spot for a helicopter but Bucky has been impaled and from the looks of it we won't be able to remove this without him bleeding out. I don't think he has much time, his breathing is irregular and he is coughing up blood."

It was a matter of a few yes and no's and the confirmation of location- moments later a helicopter was in route.

"How the hell did he know we needed help?"

Steve shook his head, "I don't think he did- I'm hoping he was calling to give us some information about this...thing that hurt Bucky. We need to clear a spot for the medical helicopter to land. Shouldn't take long, after that I want you stay with him, I need to go on ahead and find this thing. Its going towards Times Square and who knows how many people could get hurt if it makes it there."

Upon seeing Cap's shaking hands, Sam figured it wouldn't be in their best interest to allow Steve to go anywhere far from Bucky's side right now.

"Well- lets get a spot cleared quick for the EMTs to land."

The two set off lifting the heavy pieces of cement out of the way, it didn't take long thankfully- the adrenaline both had made the task easier than it should have been. The helicopter could already be heard close by.

As Steve turned Falcon put a hand on his shoulder, "hold up- let me go on ahead. You need to be beside him, you have been shaking the whole time we have been moving all this crap. You should call in the others-let em know the situation and where this thing could be headed. Its not every day the Winter Solider gets hurt like this. Whatever this thing is- its strong, we are going to need backup.

Cap thought long and hard, "are you sure you will be ok?"

"Oh yea! I do have the advantage of flying so I can fight long distance. Besides, the others wont be far behind once you inform them of whats going on." Sam tried to keep his voice devoid of any doubt- obviously they had no idea what the hell this thing was or what all it could do, but someone had to go on ahead.

"Alright... as soon as Bucky is secured I will be on my way- just be careful."

"Always."

"And Sam? Give whatever this thing is hell."

"Sure will Cap."
