Reaching for Love

CHAPTER 5: Cryptic Plans

JACOB

I paced my room at one of Uncle Royce's homes, staring at my phone. What the hell was I going to do? Bella's phone was off or dead.

After one of our trysts, I had installed a tracking application on her cell. I laughed at how easy it was for me to figure out her password. The application was designed so she wouldn't know it was on her phone. It was running in the background and didn't show in the task manager. The bitch was easy to track, or used to be.

One thing was clear. I had figure out a way to get Bella to forgive me and take me back. Then and only then would I be back in Uncle's good graces.

Picking up a notebook, I flipped to my notes on Bella. There had to be someone she would turn to, somewhere where she would go. Best friend, Jessica, enrolled in the University of Portland and really the only friend Bella told me about. They talked but weren't as close as there were in high school. Grandparents, both deceased. Mom, not in the picture.

Damn it! I threw the notebook across the room. Page after page of notes of her likes, but not a single thing about places she went other than the goddamn library. She practically lived there. Constantly reading. Uncle was right. She was fucking too smart.

How in the fucking hell was I going to find her?

My hands gripped my hair, pulling at it.

"Daddy," a timid voice called.

My daughter, a future soldier in the kingdom. Her mission would be to mother more children. One day we would declare war on the heathens. Uncle and I got her bitch of a mother to sign away her parental rights for a tidy sum of money. I grinned, remembering the day well.

"Yes, angel."

She hobbled over to me. Raised her arms.

Affection was important. She had to start learning how to show it, how to manipulate it.

It was when I was picking my daughter up that it came to me. How to find Bella, but I needed help. Information.

Sucking it up, I called Uncle. As I waited for him to answer, I came up other ideas on how to trap her into crawling back to me.

"What is it, boy?"

"I know where she will be eventually have to go. An OB."

He was silent for a long minute. "I'm listening."

"Have you found out who she left with?"

"I have. One Edward Cullen. He was at a happy hour hosted by another, so no credit card receipt. And the surveillance camera didn't capture his license plate number."

Shit! No matter. There were ways to find out who about him. I just wish I got a good look at his face. "I'll get back in her."

"You better hope you knocked her up and that she'll take you the hell back. Make any promise you have to, boy. And don't mess this up. You do, you go back to classroom and have to prove yourself to me all over again."

"I won't fail you, Uncle. Now for what I have in mind."

I divulged my ideas, including kidnapping her.

"Now that, Jacob, is using your head. Proceed and report your progress to me."

The call ended, feeling good. Bella might be safe, but she wouldn't feel that way for long.
