The sounds of thunder and gunfire are heard against a black screen. A wide shot of Kuroyuri shows the empty, degraded town. A billowing cloud of dust and pieces of wood rise in the distance around the top of a tree that is barely visible above the town rooftops. Sonic Takamaki, Jaune Arc, Ruby Rose, Lie Ren ,Pyrrha Nikos, and Nora Valkyrie all fall back by the dead cherry tree. Qrow Branwen is still unconscious and propped against it. The Nuckelavee comes into view, twitching its various body parts. It sends out a shockwave roar that causes all four teenagers to flinch. The Grimm looks at the teenagers and turns its head to look at Qrow and begins running toward him. Jaune sheaths his sword and makes a run for Qrow. The Nuckelavee lashes out with one of its arms, able to extend it at a far reach. Jaune avoids it and gets Qrow upright, but the Nuckelavee is heading right for them. Ren uses his Semblance to hide Jaune and Qrow from the Grimm, which stops short and looks about in confusion. Jaune stands still, staring at the Grimm.
"Just get him to safety!" The Green Ninja said to his leader.
The Blonde Knight walks away with Qrow while the battle resumes. He sets Qrow down behind a building and narrows his eyes at the wounded man before turning to leave. Qrow grabs him by the hand, but falls unconscious before he can say anything. Jaune gives Qrow another look before rejoining the fight. The Grimm is using its arms to grab hold of each of Jaune's teammates, but is continually distracted by the fire of the next one.
"Guys! Keep moving! Go in a circle!" Jaune told them, hoping that this tactic would subdue the Grimm. "Sonic! You and I will charge in! On my mark!"
Sonic nods. "Alright!"
The team follows this plan, and Ruby gets distracted when Jaune sheaths his sword after he and Sonic land their strikes.
"What are you doing?" She inquired of her fellow team leader.
She smiles when she realizes that Jaune is using his upgraded Crocea Mors to land strikes on the beast. The fight continues and Ren ends up pinned to a building by a Nuckelavee extended arm.
"Ruby!" Nora called to her friend who nodded.
The Hooded Huntress uses Crescent Rose to launch Nora in between Ren and the Nuckelavee's would-be fatal strike with its other hand. Magnhild is pinned to the building above Ren, with Nora dangling from it. He looks up at her.
The Pink Bombshell pulls her skirt to hide herself. "Stop looking!"
Ren covered his eyes with a pink blush on his cheeks. "Ah-ugh!"
She grins to herself till the Nuckelavee flings Nora around until she is knocked to the ground with her Aura depleted. Ren uses StormFlower to give himself leverage to pull the Nuckelavee hand off of him. He repeatedly goes after the creature, exhibiting reckless behavior, his eyes wild.
"Yo Ren! Chill out man!" The Blue Blur said to his infuriated friend while ducking a strike from the Grimm. "If you keep this up, one of us or you will be critically injured!"
Ren ignores him and ends up on the ground beside Nora, separated from StormFlower and his Aura also depleted. The two partners rise together, Nora first. Ren's eyes are only on the creature, and Nora tackles him and drags him under a building. The Nuckelavee advances, but Pyrrha blocks it with Akoúo̱. Ren attempts to rejoin the fight but Nora holds him back by the wrist, her head down.
"Nora, let go! Nora, they're going to get hurt if we don't—"

(-Music: Promise of That Day [ Sen no Kiseki III ]-)
Without even looking up, Nora slaps Ren. He stops and turns to face her, and she finally lets go, putting her hands in her lap.
"No. I won't let you kill yourself like this. After everything we've been through, I won't let it end." Nora said softly to her partner. She raises her head, but Ren sees his memory of Nora as a scared little girl before blinking and seeing her normally. Like back then, she has tears in her eyes. "Not like this…"
"She's right… I can't afford to throw everything away that I've- no we've been through! My father gave his own life to save my life and Nora's! She's been by my side ever since that day happened..." Ren mentally laments as he closes his eyes as memories of him and Nora in Beacon Academy, on the road, and then the final memory of himself and Nora when they were kids walking from the destroyed village holding hands. Then the memory gets engulfed into a white light.
The scene is in Ren's POV as he blinks a few times as he looks around being in a bamboo forest with ponds with water lilies in them. Bamboo leaves around him fall as the Green Ninja observes his surroundings for a moment.
"Ren. My son."
The voice made his eyes widen in shock as swiftly faced the source of the voice to meet his father and mother. His pale pink eyes became misty as tears as he fell to his knees as he struggled not to bawl. His tears fall to the green grass.
"M-Mother… f-father…" He choked as Ren his hands turned into fists. "I-I'm s-sorry…"
An kneels to her son and embraces him lovingly with a warm smile on her face. "I'm so proud of the young man you have become."
"I agree with your mother. You've grown stronger than we could've imagined." Li spoke with a smile. He sees his son gaze at his face. "You're no longer the little boy that played with the lilies. What I see is a strong young man."
"N-No I-I'm not! I n-nearly gotten my friends and t-teammates killed! Fighting the Grimm that ruined our home and took you away from me! I let my emotions get the better of me!" The Green Ninja berated himself. "I was weak… like I was that night…"
"Ren." His father spoke his name in a firm voice. "You're not weak. Remember what I told you. "Sometimes the worst action to take is taking no action at all." And you have become a Huntsman. That takes strength and courage son."
"You've been brave. And you've been kind. And your father and I have been watching you and Nora. You two have watched each other's backs after the Grimm had attacked Kuroyuri. We knew that you had the heart to carry on. You relied on Nora, then your teammates, and then your friends." An said kindly with a proud smile. "It's not your strength that matters, it's your heart Little Lie. And you have got friends that will stand by you in your time of need, just like Nora is. Now, all they want is for you to trust them; like you trust her. Remember, you're not alone anymore. Keep moving forward son. Like the waterlilies."
Li grabs a water lily and takes a knee to his son, who is in his mother's embrace, hands Ren the water lily. "Your mother is right. You have to learn to open your heart to your friends. They're not perfect but they'll be a source of strength for you. Take action with them. Rejoice with them. Mourn with them. They are your family now Ren. We'll continue to watch you grow from within your heart. Cherish them as you cherished us."
Ren hesitantly takes the water lily and looks at it. "T-Thank you mother… father…"
"You must go now. They need you." Ren's mother spoke with a sad smile on her face as she placed her hand on her son's cheek. "I'll miss you my Little Lie."
"Don't forget what we told you son." Li said as he gave his son a final hug. "You'll find true tranquility as one, instead of being separated."
An kissed her son's forehead after embracing him. Then, Li and An turned into pink flurries as they were dispersed in the white void.
"All the hopes of Kuroyuri live in you now." Li's voice resonated in the white void.
"We're so proud of you son." An's voice spoke this time.
"Your mother and I knew you were meant for a greater destiny."
"Your heart was tested so much but you pulled through each trial that stood before you."
"But you gave hope to those around you."
"Show the enemy your strength that you have created with your allies."
"Love them Ren, like the way we loved you."
Ren took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and sat down in a meditative position as his Aura appeared around him. The water lilies started to glow. The stones gravitated towards him, orbiting him like he had his own gravitational pull. The glowing intensified as his power grew.
"Fly son, it's time." Both Li and An spoke in unison.
Ren's eyes opened as the scene was engulfed in a pink light.

(-Music: White Light Majesty [ Okami ]-)
A beam of pink light rose from the building where Nora and Ren were, which caused everyone and including the Nuckelavee to take a step back, knowing the danger was in front of it.
"Man! That's some Chaos Energy! I bet the guys are sensing this!" Sonic thought in surprise.
Beneath the pillar of light, the symbol of a lotus appeared and the light itself had Ren's symbol as the light ceased, only showing a figure coated in pink light, which was revealed to be Ren. It seems that his appearance has changed. The black portions of his hair was a pale pink and the magenta streak is now white. He had pale pink eyeshadow and his eyes were pale pink with his pupils shaped into a lotus. On his right side, he had a sheathed tachi that had flower design, and the blade itself had a lotus shaped collar. He had his hand on the sheath to unsheath the blade which was a beautiful blade itself.
"Ren…" Pyrrha spoke in awe.
"Oh yeah! Time to go wild!" The Blue Blur said excitedly as a blue Aura appeared around him.
Ruby nods in agreement as her red Aura appeared as a grin grew on her face. Jaune closes his eyes as his white Aura appears around him. Then the redhead Spartan's red Aura came to life. Ren turns to a wide-eyed Nora and then holds his hand out to her with a smile on his face.
"Nora. Thank you for snapping me out of it. Are you with me to finish this?" He asked her.
His calm and soothing voice broke the Pink Bombshell's shocked trance as she nodded with her eyes containing fiery determination. She grabbed her partner's hand as Nora held Magnhild with her other hand. Jaune, Pyrrha, Ruby, and Sonic stood alongside the two as they faced the large Grimm with undeterred looks on their faces.

(-Music: Brave Steel [ Sen no Kiseki III ]-)
"Ren. I don't know what you did man but you look way way WAY past cool!" Sonic complemented with a thumbs up.
"Agreed. Sonic and I will distract it, Jaune and Pyrrha will handle it's arms." Ruby said.
"I'll handle the horse." Nora says.
"I'll take care of the rest." Ren said with a nod. "Let's end this!"
"RIGHT!" Everyone said in unison.
The two speedsters zoomed off towards the Nuckelavee, fulfilling their roles as distractions. The two decided that it was best to stick together to distract it. The red and blue blurs ran around it with the Grimm trying to use both arms to try to catch the speed demons but it was all for naught as they were too fast as Nuckelavee extends its right arm and balled its hand into a fist and slammed it to the ground to only hit the stone ground. Pyrrha saw her opportunity as she swiftly implants Miló, in it's javelin form, into the ground, causing the right appendage to be stuck underneath her weapon. Ren throws his tachi as it embeds into the body of the Grimm. Ruby and Sonic sped towards the beast to get it to attack them with its left arm. It didn't take them long for Jaune to secure the other arm using his shield to pin the left appendage down.
"Nora!"
Nora free falls from the roof to land a killing blow to the head of the horse. Ren retrieves his tachi and walks before the trapped Grimm. He closed his eyes as his light pink Aura expanded as the dirtied water lilies began to glow as he prepared to strike with his tachi.
"For my mother." He thought while slicing through the left arm.
"For my father." He thought again while slicing through the right arm.
"For those you have slain." Ren strikes a gash into the flailing torso.
The empowered young man closes his eyes. "For myself. 再见 (Goodbye!)!"
He opens his eyes and swings with the glowing tachi, beheading the Grimm with pink flurries following his blade. It dies in a pillar of black smoke. Ren closes his eyes as a pink glow shines as he reverts to his normal state with the pink flurries flying away to the sky along with the tachi reverting back to his father's knife. He smiles before getting tackled by a giggling, triumphant Nora. He hugs her back and gives a single laugh. Ruby runs into the alley where Qrow was left during the fight. She breathes a sigh of relief that he is still alive.

"It's quiet. Good job, kiddo…" Qrow spoke in a raspy voice with a thumbs up.
Sonic's hedgehog ears twitched. "Hold on guys! I heard something coming from above!"
In the courtyard two wood and metal airships are coming in to land; Nora points in Qrow's direction. A man in a brown flight suit with an air tank on his back carries Qrow on a green stretcher with Ruby walking alongside them, her hand on Qrow's shoulder. The two rescue ships take off, everyone on board.
"How did you find us?" Jaune asked the pilot.
"We were on patrol and saw the smoke. Nobody's been out here for years, thought something might be wrong." Answered the Mistrallian Pilot.
"What if we don't make it in time?" Asked a worried Ruby who was crouched and holding her uncle's hand.
"Worry not Rubes! Look at what's ahead!" Sonic chimed with a big grin on his face.
She looks up and sees the flourishing city before them. Ruby smiled happily as she looked at her uncle. "We made it, Uncle Qrow… we made it…"
Nora and Ren sit on the edge of the open rescue airship, their legs dangling. Nora is looking out at the city, feeling happy. Ren is watching her, begins smiling and puts his hand on hers. She gives a slight start but turns her hand over to hold his. She looks at him and gives him a smile, and he smiles back. Nora scoots closer and rests her head on his shoulder. The airships fly into the city.

Ruby walks into a double bed accommodation. It has barren furnishings: two beds, a large desk and a nightstand. Qrow sleeps under the blankets of one of the beds. Ruby sets the collapsed Crescent Rose on the empty bed and walks over to Qrow, putting her hand on his head. She walks over and sits at the desk, picking up the pen and writing on the notepad.
"Hey Dad, I hope my letters have been reaching you. Hand-written stuff's never been super reliable, but I guess it's all we've got these days. Anyway, in case you haven't been getting them, I want to say I'm sorry for leaving the way I did. I know you told me it was a reckless idea, and after everything I've been through, I can definitely say you were right. It's been hard on all of us, and I'm not just talking about the monsters we fought out here."
"雨降り 木漏れ日 虹
いつしかはぐれた青い鳥
ほらごらん 光と埃の轍 今 飛び立とう (Rain falls… light shines through the trees… a rainbow appears… we're bluebirds who have somehow lost our way –

An Atlesian pilot counts Lien. "Okay, you can hide out back in the cargo hold. I'll take you as far as I can, but if we get caught, you're on your own. Understand?"
Both Shadow Yaminagi and Weiss Schnee nod and walk forward as Ruby's narration continues.
"Every step we made took us further and further from the things we knew. And every morning we woke up wondering, if just over the next hill would be something good or something terrible."

The Airship takes off as the scene changes to Blake Belladonna and Miles "Tails" Prower in Ghira Belladonna's office. She places a small chest on the desk and opens it. Inside are various objects, including a flag with the new White Fang emblem, a spiral notebook and a book.
"It's scary not knowing what's going to happen next. And the things we do know now—just how bad it can get—it almost makes it all worse."

Yang Xiao Long and Knuckles Kaji are on the same ship Blake took to Menagerie with new outfits. Yang had a tan jacket with orange lining and gold edging, unzipped halfway to show an orange crop top. The coat has darker brown short sleeves, a thick collar that completely encircles her neck, and two long gold-trimmed rectangular tails that are shown to be detachable. She also wears fitted black pants, and her hair has been let down again like her original outfit. Around her hips and over the tails of her coat is a brown belt, which has two pieces of dark brown material trimmed in gold attached to it. The first covers from her left hip to the back of the belt and is folded over the belt, and the second is attached from the right hip and almost around to the other piece of material. She wears knee-high brown boots with gold caps on the heel and toe, with the heel cap attaching to a gold strap across the front of her ankle, and a gold zipper on the upper half of the front of the boots. A single small buckled strap is on the upper outside of her boots, and a purple bandanna tied around her left knee. A pair of black fingerless gloves with long brown cuffs reaching to mid-forearm complete the outfit. Knuckles had a dark red Gothic Steampunk styled long hooded trench coat with a unique zip-off feature at the waist, a front snap fastening with Hunter Green faux leather straps at the chest, complete with high, funnel collar with snap fastenings. Long sleeves with faux leather straps, matching straps to one side and an oversized hood, a black sleeveless shirt underneath, a black belt with a Chaos Emerald-equse buckle, burgundy fitted pants, and he wore his regular shoes. He also had his cowboy hat on with his red headphones listening to music. Yang looks at a ticket and a photograph of Team STRQ, with Bumblebee nearby.
"You told me once that bad things just happen. You were angry when you said it, and I didn't want to listen."

Taiyang Xiao Long stares at a framed photo of Team STRQ.
"But you were right, bad things do happen, all the time, every day. Which is why I'm out here, to do whatever I can, wherever I can, and hopefully do some good."
Zwei barks at Tai, and he smiles, looking across the room at a framed photo of Team RWBY. In the photo, "New Friends!" is written with a heart shape drawn near the writing.
"We've all lost something, and I've seen what loss can do to people."
"想いは全部 この歌に Words of Love (All of my feelings… are within this song: Words of Love)."
Jaune is in his room with a frustrated look on his face as he stares at Crocea Mors propped up against the wall.
"But if we gave up every time we lost, then we'd never be able to move forward."
Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren open the door. Jaune smiles as Ren sets his father's dagger next to Crocea Mors. Pyrrha did the same with Miló and Akoúo̱. Nora sits beside Jaune and leans on him, while Ren sits on the bed behind them and rests his hand on Nora's shoulder. And Pyrrha went into her boyfriend's arms. Then the scene changes to Sonic, who was laying on the roof of the home that they were staying in, gazing at the setting sun. He smirked as a gentle breeze blew.
"We'd never have a chance to see what beautiful things the future might have waiting for us. We'd never have the strength to change; whether it's ourselves, or the world around us."

Weiss, sitting on top of her suitcase in the airship's cargo hold with Shadow who had his eyes closed, gazes out into the sunset and smiles as the airship flies over the Atlesian mountains. In Menagerie, Blake puts down the current White Fang flag and picks up the old white and blue flag. She lowers it and smiles at Sun Wukong, who is sitting in a chair with his arms behind his head in a relaxed position. Then he sees Tails who is focused on a holographic screen that had plans that were named: Project Typhoon.
"And we'd never be there for other people who might one day be lost without us. This is what we were training for, to become Huntresses, to be the ones to stand up and do something about all the bad in the world."

The Captain and First Mate smile and wave goodbye as Yang drives Bumblebee away from the port with Knuckles as her passenger, headed toward Mistral. Elsewhere, Oscar sits in the dining car of the train as it crosses a bridge surrounded by mountains and water. He is staring at a poster advertising Haven Academy. The poster shows two figures: a female with an axe and a male with a rifle. The poster reads: "HAVEN ACADEMY: BE A HERO".
"Approaching, City of Mistral." Said the Train Announcer.
"Because there are plenty of people out there who are still lost and even more who will try to gain everything they can from their sorrow."
Ilia Amitola lands on a rooftop in Menagerie in the night, as Corsac and Fennec Albain wait for her. Ilia gets on one knee and lowers her head after they turn to face her.
"Believe me when I say, I know it can feel impossible, like every single day is a struggle against some unstoppable monster we can never hope to beat."
In the Land of Darkness, Cinder Fall snaps her fingers, having defeated at least the two Beowolves disintegrating on the ground in her continued training. Mercury Black is leaning on the wall with his arms crossed. Emerald Sustrai puts two fingers on her head, concentrating as she generates a hallucination of Sonic begging for mercy. Cinder focuses a large stream of fire on the hallucination from her right hand, glaring at it with her eye glowing. Nearby, Salem is watching, looking pleased.
"But we have to try, if not for us, then for the people we've already—" Ruby stops and crosses out the last few words as she alters her statement. "Then for the people we haven't lost yet."
As she finishes writing, the note is shown and two tears fall on the page.
"I miss you so much. I miss Weiss and Blake too. But I think you'd all be proud to know that I made it to Mistral. All of us did, and we even ran into Uncle Qrow along the way." She said to herself.
Qrow pushes himself over with one arm and grunts while propping up his head with the other hand as his niece stops writing to check on him. "Hey, aren't I normally the one saving you?"
Ruby wipes tears from her right eye and smiles down at Qrow. The narration of Ruby's letter resumes as the corner where Qrow's Weapon and Ozpin's Cane are resting is shown.
"He's going to take us to see Professor Lionheart, the Headmaster of Haven Academy. And he told us some things that you're gonna wanna hear, things I can't trust will make it to you in this letter. But maybe, if you join us, he could tell you himself. With Beacon gone they'll need Dad at Signal more than ever, and I know you need to focus on yourself with your Mom before I can expect you to come out with me. But it sure would be great to get Team RWBY back together again."
The scene transitions to Yang riding down a path on Bumblebee, before coming to a stop at a crossroads and looking at a sign post. The signpost points right for Mistral and left for Kuroyuri, and the sign for Kuroyuri has "BANDITS" spray painted across it in big, red letters.
"You are in so much trouble when I find you." Yang says with a chuckle.
Knuckles smirks. "You can rag on your sister later Goldie Locks. Let's get this family reunion over with."
"Understatement of the year Knuckie." The Flamboyant Blonde spoke while rolling her eyes as she got back on her bike.
"Until next time, your loving sister, Ruby Rose."
The two fighters smiled simultaneously as they continued their ride to their destination.
"Oh! Uh, PS. I'll be sure to give you the address of where we're staying in Mistral! I'd love to hear back from you and Dad, and I can't wait to fill you in on whatever's going to happen next! Now that we've made it across Anima I really think things are gonna start going our way."

The scene transitions to Leonardo Lionheart's office, showing a ladder against a bookshelf with a few books taken out. The previously described mahogany desk is seen along with a plaque and loose papers. On a small table lies a tea set, with gray colored teapots and cups decorated with green accents. The view changes to reveal that Arthur Watts is sitting at the table together with Leonardo Lionheart. He picks up a tea cup and puts his feet up on the table.
"Why thank you, Professor. Salem always did say you were…" Watts states before taking a sip of his tea. "quite hospitable."
The scene cuts to black. A new scene opens with Qrow is seen sitting at a bar sometime later, fully healed from his wound. Oscar approaches him from behind.
"Excuse me?" He spoke to get his attention.
Qrow turns around to face Oscar. "You know, I don't think they allow kids in here, pipsqueak."
Oscar looks at his left arm as it moves. "Shut up, I'm getting there."
After a few moments of silence with Qrow giving the Farm Boy a questionable look.
"Um, I'm supposed to tell you, I'd like my cane back?"
Qrow's eyes widened for a moment in surprise. Then he grew a grin on his face. "It's good to see you again, Oz."
He withdraws Ozpin's Cane in its compact mode and tosses it to Oscar, who presses a button on the hilt, extending the baton. Oscar grasps the baton with the other hand, surprised, before looking at Qrow with a determined face as the scene cuts to black.
