After getting his first badge, Maurice and his Pokémon would be on their way to Azalea Town. But first they had to go through Union Cave. "I love onions. Especially when baked and caramelized…" Jinx noted. I said UNION, not Onion. "Okay, whatever you say, narrator guy!"

"Who is she talking to?" Marigold wondered. Morrigan just blinked. Like usual.

"I don't know. I have given up on trying to understand her thought process." Maurice scoffed. "It is not hurting anyone."

"Unlike Morrigan's Bite. That Spearow seems to be in a lot of pain right now." Jinx pointed out.

Oh right I forgot to mention that they were in the middle of a Pokémon battle. And Morrigan was holding a struggling Spearow whom struggled to get free. Its buddy, a Pidgey lay on the ground scorched black by a Thundershock. "Spit out that Spearow, Morrigan. You have won, and besides it'll spoil your appetite." Maurice noted. She spat out the Spearow, whom now was covered in drool and shivering.

"Well, there goes my earnings. My children are going to starve." The Birdkeeper said as he reached into his wallet, looking sad.

"Actually, your FaceDex Profile says you are single and living in a crappy apartment whom is so bad at being a Birdkeeper that have let fifty Spearows and seventy-five Pidgeys get away from you." Jinx said as she checked her phone.

"I am not a bad birdkeeper!"

"Your cage is missing the door and that Spearow and Pidgey flew off while we were talking after eating some berries to heal." Maurice noted.

The birdkeeper looked at his cage. "Oh, now you mention it…I guess I should try out a different job so that my Pokemon wouldn't keep running, I don't lose money all the time and I can get out of that crappy apartment." He blinked. "Nah, I'm going to catch more birds, I'm going to get it right next time." He said as he rushed off.

"Guys like that is why I have no faith in humanity." Maurice noted. Morrigan belched up some feathers. "You said it, Morri."

"Master, I feel funny!" Marigold noted. She glowed for a bit, then she grew, stood on her hind legs and shed some of the wool on her lower body. Becoming bipedal and her blue skin turning pink. "Master, I have evolved due to my desire to better serve you."

"And experience from battle." Maurice noted. Morrigan also stood there for a bit. There was a popping sound and a Croconaw stood where Morrigan the Totodile stood. Unlike the anime-esque transformation and transition, it just happened.

"That was anti-climactic." Maurice noted.

"Hey Maurice!" Crystal's voice sounded. She was joined by her student 'Robin' and a girl that was a Picnicker. "You going towards Azalea? And did a few of your 'mons evolve?"

"To both, yes." Maurice said as he eyed Crystal's company. "New friend?"

"Yes, this is Liz. Me and Robin are taking her on a picnic, don't we?" Crystal noted.

"Yes Mistr-I mean, Crystal." Robin noted.

"It's nice to have people join me for picnics again. It gets lonely on a Pokémon journey." Liz noted. "Of course I have my Nidoran but I want some human friends too." We see her Nidoran out of her Pokeball, next to a Quilava whom only could be Pepper. She yawned and stretched in a way to get her arm around the female Nidoran and pull her closer, whom seemed confused.

"I wonder though why you and Robin only brought whipped cream and chocolate syrup." Liz added.

"Oh believe me, there is something I'm going to eat with that, but we need to find the right spot." Crystal said with a grin.

"Wild berries? Because that would actually make a nice dessert." Liz said, sounding obvious.

"Oh, mistress-I mean Crystal will make sure you enjoy the…meal." Robin said, patting Liz' back.

"Yeah, a particular Cherri Berry in fact." Crystal added with a smile. Liz looked confused but shrugged.

"Anyhow, good luck on your Pokémon journey. Me, Robin and this delicious…I mean, precious new friend are going to enjoy our picnic." Crystal said as she dragged Robin and Liz along.

Pepper did the same for Gina's Nidoran. "They're not the only ones whom are going to enjoy this." She noted as the Nidoran looked as confused as her trainer.

"Nice meeting you, Mr. Maurice!" Liz said before they left view.

"Well, I'm not sure if they'll be hungry after that whipped cream and chocolate syrup but Crystal certainly looked thirsty." Jinx noted.

"Let's move on and leave Crystal and her…future project in peace." Maurice noted, knowing it was a good time to bail before he heard something he couldn't unhear.

"Oh are we in a naturist area? Because I don't know why else we are suddenly discarding our clothes." A voice sounded in a difference which Maurice knew to be Liz's.

"Moving on, really fast!" Maurice said as he sped out of there.

Maurice had kind of rushed through Union Cave as a result, only stopping to fight a few trainers but not catching in the local area. Not that it mattered, Maurice considered his current team up to snuff. "Well, we're nearly there, Azalea is just around the…" Maurice felt something shifting in his backpack. "…bend?" he said as he removed his backpack. "Oh, the egg from Mr. Pokémon, the one Elm asked me about."

"Due to all that running it must be ready to hatch. Wonderful, another one to join our glorious ranks to serve our master!" Marigold cheered. Morrigan blinked but she looked interested at the hatching egg.

"I wonder what its going to be. Oh, maybe it is a Wargledorf!" Jinx noted.

"There is no such Pokémon." Maurice said.

"Not all Pokémon have been discovered so how do you know there isn't a Pokémon that is called Wargledorf out there?" Jinx asked.

Maurice found he couldn't reply to that. So he just decided to ignore it and focus on the hatching egg. Parts on the top started to break off. Small holes formed around the middle from which stubby arms came. A few at the bottom where a pair of cute feet spawned. From the top part that was broken Maurice could see a cute face with beady eyes and a smiling face and three feathery spikes on top. The newly hatched Togepi blinked at Maurice. Maurice blinked back.

Then the Togepi decided to speak: "Daddy?"

Maurice blinked and thought for a bit. He looked at the cute little critter in front of him. "That's a promise, kid." Maurice replied.

"Congrats, it's a girl!" Jinx said as she took out a candy cigar and stuffed it in Maurice's mouth.

"She has acknowledged you, so she is the heir of the master. Everything little mistress need I will provide." Marigold noted.

"So, what do you call the little angel?" Jinx asked. "Sunnyside? Omelette? Scramble?"

"Those are all foods." Maurice noted.

"Yeah, I'm hungry. Is it lunchtime yet?" Jinx noted.

"Though there is one thing you said that gave me an idea, but it wasn't the food part." Maurice said as he eyed the hatchling. "Welcome to the world, Angel."

"Angel!" the Togepi chirped happily.

"And all of us are your aunties. I'm your aunt Jinx, she's Aunt Marigold and that is Aunt Morrigan." Aunt Jinx said. "I'll be the crazy aunt, Aunt Marigold will be the helpful aunt and Morrigan, she…she's an aunt."

"Jinx!" Angel said a she pointed at the Zubat. "Mari!" she said as she pointed at Marigold. "Morri!" she said as she pointed at Morrigan. Maybe it was their imagination but they could almost swear the normally unexpressive Crocanaw's mouth corners had raised up just a little.

"Well, as soon as we go to Azalea, we are going to get some baby supplies."

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"All right, we're here." Maurice said as they finally were about to approach Azalea Town.

They were passing a well, a guy in black uniform standing guard at it. He had a red R on his shirt. The guy was looking at Maurice, whom was holding Angel. "Hello there stranger. Say, is that a Togepi?"

"Well, it isn't a potato, that's for sure." Maurice snarked.

"Between my egg puns earlier and the potato, I'm reminded I'm still hungry." Jinx noted.

"They are rare around these parts, are they?" the Rocket Grunt continued to ask.

"I guess, are you going somewhere with this?" Maurice asked.

"May I take a closer look at the little tyke?" the Rocket said as his hand reached out towards Angel. Only for Maurice's hand to clasp over his, and twist his wrist, the Rocket screaming out in pain as he felt it break.

"I did not give you permission to touch my Togepi." Maurice said as he pushed back the Rocket.

"You little brat…Pershing! Arrow!" the rocket screeched as two more Rockets came down the well.

"Dude, what happened to your hand? Don't tell me this kid did that to you?" one Rocket said.

"You're losing your touch Titan. Though I see the kid has a Togepi, they are rare. People would pay top dollar for it." The third Rocket said.

"You guys creep me out. I am warning you, if you get any closer, I'll not just hurt you, but destroy you." Maurice said.

"Yeah, I'm not afraid of a kid. Certainly whom is just a rookie trainer. This will be easy as pie." Rocket number Two said.

"Pie isn't as easy as you think, it needs to bake at the right temperature, and for the crust you need to right ration of…" Jinx noted as she went of a pie tangent.

The rockets didn't listen as they got closer. However, Morrigan jumped in front of them. And normally, Morrigan wasn't really expressive. Which means even Maurice and her teammates were shocked when Morrigan's face was contorted in rage. Even more, she did something that they never saw her do before, or rather heard. She talked. "Don't touch her." It was not a growly voice, it was soft and calm but the tone she used made that sound scarier than if she roared.

"You cannot be allowed to hurt little mistress." Marigold said as she tilted her head ninety degrees, while keeping her smile. Which was also creepy. "If you try to hurt little mistress, I become very unhappy. You don't like me when I'm unhappy!"

"It's just a kid, a cottonball and an oversized lizard. We can take them!" the third Rocket said.

"So…you've chosen Death." Jinx noted.

"Angel, cover your eyes. Daddy has to do something that is not meant for your little eyes." Maurice added.

A Hiker had been…well, hiking for a long time and was out of breath. He decided to sit down for a bit near a tree and pulled out his headphones and a music player, to relax as he sat down. As soon as the music was tuned up, he could not hear the screams. He closed his eyes in bliss as he enjoyed the music and bopped his head. Next to him a Rocket slammed face down into the ground and he tried to crawl away, but something dragged him away as the desperate Rocket tried to get the Hiker's attention without success.

After a while the Hiker had rested enough, put his music away and stood up. He went around the corner and came across a well where Maurice was with his Pokemon, but no Rocket in sight. "Hello young man, are you on your way to Azalea as well? I hope I didn't take a wrong turn."

"No, this is the right path, we were heading there as well." Maurice replied.

"That's great. I had a long trip and…" the hiker said as suddenly Morrigan (whom had gone expressionless again) belched and spat out a Rocket hat. "You should be watching what your Crocanaw eats. Some species of Pokémon would eat anything in sight."

"The author wants to confirm that the Rockets all of a sudden decided to quietly retire to spend healing their wounds and remain alive and learned that their current occupation didn't turn out to be a good way to do that at all. Though they suffered greatly for their transgression." Jinx noted as she handed some wet wipes to Marigold whom was now cleaning her hands of something red.

The Hiker blinked. "Er…I am confused."

"Yeah, she got that effect on people." Maurice noted.

Maurice had made it to Azalea and made it to a Pokémon Center to get rested. As he was in the café enjoying a bit of hot chocolate he overheard two other people talking. "…bloody rockets blocking the way to the well. 'To prevent people falling into it'. Falling in, my arse. They are up to something, there is a reason the sacred Slowpoke haven't been seen in a while." One man said.

"Tell me about it. Without the rain their yawns bring, the Apricorn orchard may be ruined. That is going to have devastating effects on the town's economy." The other man said. "Shame the Gym Leader isn't around, he would be able to handle the Rockets."

"He is unfortunately at a family wedding and only comes back after the weekend. But I will not wait. I will not stand for those Rockets ruining our lives. I'm going after them."

"Kurt, you fool! You are not a young spring Combusken anymore. You would get beaten up."

"I am old but I am still spry, I assure you. Don't worry Slowpokes! Old Kurt will save you." The man said as he left the café and headed out.

Maurice blinked for a bit. He didn't mean to overhear yet he did. "So, you are going after that old man?" Jinx asked.

"Why? It is not my job to look out for him." Maurice scoffed.

"We just can't let him get hurt." Marigold noted.

"Well, if he's being foolish, not my problem. There is law enforcement or Gym Trainers he could turn to, even if the Leader isn't around." Maurice said as he took another sip of his cocoa.

"Ok, but this is a small town and the law enforcement and trainer pool is small. Would it be enough to stand up to those Rockets. We beat three but who knows how many more are down there?" Jinx asked.

"It is not my job. I am not Red, whom decides that aside from just collecting badges decided to dismantle a crime ring. He did it and props for his valor and bravery and skill and whatever, but that shouldn't be his job. It shouldn't be my job. I don't want to be the hero, no one can expect me to be the hero." Maurice added.

"We can't just do nothing." Marigold said.

"I'll hop by at the police station or the gym and warn them, that seems to be the most responsible thing to do." Maurice noted.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"What do you mean you can't help?" Maurice said. There was only a single cop, a receptionist at the police station.

"Because you have faced a few of the Rockets before and beaten them. That means that you are now included in a 'protagonist clause'. Which means all major disaster events have to be averted by you. So clearing out the Rockets is up to you." The cop said.

"That may work for Red but not for me. I only challenged those Rockets because they tried to take one of my Pokémon." Maurice said.

"I'm sorry but my hands are tied." The cop said.

"Man you law enforcers are kinky." Jinx noted.

"That is ridiculous, whom resorts to any kid that just happens to bump into an evil team grunt to save the day?" Maurice said.

"It worked three years ago in Kanto for Red, there was this May girl in Hoenn whom stopped the fighting between Groudon and Kyogre and in Sinnoh there was apparently an incident that transcended space and time…" the cop said as he ranted.

"That was rhetorical. This is Tauros-crap!" Maurice threw his hands in the air. He rubbed his temples. "You cops have Pokémon and while the Gym Leader is out, there are probably still gym trainers, why can those not be sent."

"To be honest, they are not very good trainers." The cop said.

"At least you are honest about that part." Maurice noted. "I could just wait until the gym leader returns, the Gym Leaders in absence of competent law enforcement have to step up…"

"We can't wait that long, that old guy may get hurt." Jinx pointed out.

"He shouldn't have been so foolish to go after those Rockets." Maurice replied. "I'm not responsible for people acting stupid and their actions as a result."

"No. You are not. But you are not the type of people whom would see anyone die right? You have this big act of pretending not to care about people. But you will feel guilty afterwards if there was something you could have done to prevent it but didn't do it." Jinx said.

"How could you be sure?" Maurice noted.

"Because she believes our Master could not be anything but kind." Marigold said.

"You think any other trainer then you would have wanted me, or could put up with me? Not even my family want me around. They are like 'that's cute Jinx but when are you going to stop?' 'Are you going to stop acting crazy, Jinx?'" the Zubat looked sad for the first time Maurice had known her. "No trainer wanted the cooky Zubat either. But you did give me a chance."

"You care great deal for us, because you are a kind and loving master." Marigold noted.

"Of course I care. If anything happened to you, I'd kill everyone in this town and then myself." Maurice said as he looked at all his Pokémon. Even Angel, whom didn't fully understand what went on, looked with Baby-Doll Eyes at him. "I'm doing this, am I?" he sighed.

"I know you can do it." Morrigan said, speaking for the second time in her life (or as far as Maurice knew her).

"Well, I guess were doing this. But you know it may be dangerous. The trio we beat were the gruntiest of grunts, they didn't even have Pokémon." Maurice said. "And we're outnumbered."

"But never outclassed or outsmarted." Jinx noted.

"Well, I am pretty smart I admit. All right, I'll play the hero. But only this once. If something like this will happen again and the town refuses to shape up afterwards." Maurice said to the cop.

"I believe in you, kid." The cop said lazily.

"That does not assure me."

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Okay, they cranked up security, how are we going to get past that?" Maurice asked as they saw many more Rockets around the entrance of the well.

"We can't get in from the left, we can't get in from the right, we can't get in from the middle…so we have to get in from the durple!" Jinx noted.

"Durple?" everyone asked at once.

"You see, it is a direction I discovered. It takes me to weird places. One time I ended up in Albuquerque and came across a Scorbunny whom I swear took the wrong turns in this city all the time…" Jinx explained.

"Never mind, I see no way in so please guide us down this Durple direction if it can get us in unseen…" Maurice noted. They suddenly stood in the well's interior. "How did we get in?"

"We walked silly!" Jinx said.

"I don't remember walking here." Marigold added. "Yeah, it's like we teleported here but without the flash of light. Like one moment we were outside, and one other moment we are just here."

"Silly sheepy, none of us are psychic types. We just followed the durple." Jinx added.

"But…but…nevermind, let's get a move on." Maurice noted.

So this is the moment that ever since we started from zero

Became a quest for Maurice to end up as a hero

"A reluctant one." Maurice scoffed.

As the hero and his team take their stands

The rockets wish they brought their brown pants

Maurice will save the day

Even if people act foolish or dumb

And goes through despite that

Maurice, Maurice, Mauriiiiiiiiiiiiice

Hates everyone

Jinx appears with a sign that says 'To be continued…'

"Whom is that sign for Jinx. And don't give me that 'readers' crap again." Maurice noted.

"Ok, I won't." Jinx said. She then stopped talking and everyone decided it was best to ignore it and move on.
