Chapter 20
Dark City, Exeggutor and A day with Misty
Today Ash and the gang came to a city called Dark City. After all the adventures they had, they were happy to be in a town. "I'm looking forward to a nice rest here" said Astrid. The others felt sleepy too. "I'm also looking forward to something to eat" said Ash.
When they entered Dark City, the town looked like a ghost town and there was not a soul in sight. "Where is everybody?" asked Ash with a frown. "Something doesn't feel right here" said Brock. Just then some stones came out of nowhere and nearly hit the group. "What the heck?" gasped Ash "Okay that's rude. Eevee use swift." Eevee fired her attack in that direction. The attackers fell in a bunch of straw and the gang saw it was 3 little boys. "Hey, what did you do that for?" asked Ash. "Simple. We don't want Pokemon trainers here!" A kid with blue hair and blue eyes shouted. "Go away!" The kid with reddish brown hair and black eyes shouted. "Leave us alone!" The kid with black hair and eyes shouted. A restaurant owner named Mr. Jim saw the commotion and told the kids to stop. "Sorry about that," said Mr. Jim "these boys mean no harm." "What was that all about?" asked Ash. "I shall explain" said Mr. Jim.
He brought them to their restaurant and made lunch for the gang. The boys introduced themselves. The first one was Ben, the second one was Troy and the third one was Alex. "So why did you kids tell us to leave just because we're Pokemon trainers?" asked Clara. Mr. Jim explained that there were two men in Dark City called Yas and Kaz. "They are the gym leaders of the two gyms, we have in this city. They both seek the official status and approval of the Pokemon League Inspector, who's supposed to arrive here soon. As only one of the gyms can be official Yas and Kaz keep on trying to eliminate one another. And every time Pokemon trainers enter the city Yas or Kaz would recruit them to join their gym. Then fights between the Yas Gym and the Kaz Gym break out." "Well, that's no wonder that people here don't like Pokemon trainers," said Ash "the fighting between the Yas and Kaz gyms aren't gym battles, they're gang wars." The others agreed with Ash on that.
Crash! Smash! Crash! Sounds of breaking windows and buildings. "It's them" said Ben, angrily. "What was that?" asked Brock. "It's the Yas and Kaz fighting again," Mr. Jim answered "if you don't want to get involved I suggest you go upstairs and hide. The three boys led them upstairs and hid with them. The gang watched from a window as the Yas leader's Scyther and Kas leader's Electabuzz battled each other. Uncaring that they're destroying buildings in the process. The people were running for their lives to stay away from the fight. "This is awful" said Ash. "Yeah" said Tomo. Brock turned to the three boys. "Is it always like this?" "Yeah" the boys nodded. "Now I can understand why everyone around here hates Pokemon trainers" said Clara. "That's not even a Pokemon battle," said Ash "it's a street fight." "This is just too much to look at," said Astrid "do they even realize what they're doing to the town?!" "Of course not all they care about is battling," said Brock "it doesn't matter who gets hurt in the process." "Those bullies," said Ash, angrily "they don't even understand what it means to be a Pokemon trainer."
Suddenly they heard noises downstairs. They quietly walked down to the end of the stairs. "Mr. Jim, are you okay?" asked Alex, walking up. "Yes but-" Mr. Jim said, but didn't get to finish his statement as he saw it was too late to warn them. The gang walked down, but they didn't expect to see four Kaz members to be downstairs either. The Kaz members turned to the gang. "Are you all Pokemon trainers?" The first member asked. The gang didn't answer. "I take that as a yes" The second member said. "How about you join us to help the Kas gym?" The third member asked. "No" said the gang. "WHAT?!" The Kaz members exclaimed. "We have our reasons" said Ash. "How about a battle? If you win we'll leave, but if we win you'll join the Kas gym" The second member said with a smirk. The gang didn't say anything. Ash sighed. "Very well." "Big sister?" said Tomo. "It's alright," said Ash "who am I battling against?" "Me. I'm one of the top members" The third member said. "Okay then outside" said Ash. Everyone went outside so they wouldn't damage the restaurant. "Go Rhydon!" he shouted. "I choose Vaporeon" said Ash. "Vaporeon will have the advantage" said Brock. "Rhydon use hyper beam" he said. Rhydon fired a hyper beam towards Vaporeon. "Dodge and use ice beam on the ground" said Ash. Vaporeon jumps into the air to dodge and fires an ice beam on the ground. The ice was slippery and Rhydon wasn't finding it hard to stand its ground. "Now use hydro pump" said Ash. Vaporeon fired a big blast of water towards Rhydon and when it hit Rhydon fainted. The Kaz's members were frightened and quickly left after the third member returned Rhydon. Ash returned Vaporeon and told her she did a good job.
Just then a girl recruit from the Yas Gym walked up to the gang. "That was incredible," she said "I saw the battle and I'm wondering if you would like to join the Yaz Gym." The gang had a group huddle to discuss what to do. "I suggest we go to the Yas Gym," whispered Ash "but to only see what this gym is like and then we can leave quickly." "Good idea," whispered Astrid "but we can use fake names for ourselves. Using our real names would ruin our reputation as trainers." The group finished their huddle and told the girl that they would go to the Yaz Gym. "May I have your names please?" the girl asked. "I'm Skylar Storm" said Ash with a small smile. "I'm Izzy" said Astrid. "I'm Ceaser Salad" said Brock. "I'm Ris Otto" said Tomo. "And I'm CeCe" said Clara.
Ash gave Mr. Jim and the boys a reassuring look as they let the girl lead them to the Yas Gym, looking around at the ruined places made Ash angry. She hated how these two gym leaders are destroying the town without realizing it. They finally arrived and entered the building. The Yas Gym looked like a fighting dojo. "Before I decided to recruit you," said Yas "I would battle to battle one of you." Ash accepted the challenge and used Eevee to battle. Yas sent out his Pokemon; Scyther.
Ash looked up Scyther; Scyther, the mantis Pokemon. A Bug and Flying Type. It is nearly impossible to parry its attacking scythes. Its movements are like a ninja's.
Yas ordered Scyther to attack Eevee with its cut attack. Scyther turned out to be a fast Pokemon, but Eevee had no trouble avoiding it because of all the training she did. 'I'm happy that I have a Scyther as well' thought Ash. Suddenly Scyther's scythes cut through a can of red paint and the red paint splashed onto Scyther's face. Scyther saw red in its eyes and began to attack Yas. Yas quickly returned Scyther. "Even though that was a quick battle," he said "I could see that you're a strong trainer. Join me and my gym." "Before I make my decision," said Ash "why do you want to become an official leader?" "For money" replied Yas. "Huh?" said the gang, confused. "It's a simple means to earn money quickly," said Yas "official gym status comes with prestige and funding." "You have got to be kidding me" said Brock. Ash couldn't believe what she was hearing. This whole time, scaring the town's people, recruiting trainers, all for money? "Forget it then," she said "you think of Pokemon as tools for war and money. Well, let me tell you something, I won't help you out one bit. Come on guys, let's go." So the gang left the Yas Gym at once.
The gang went back to the restaurant. "I can't believe that Yas guy," said Ash "and I'm sure Kaz is like that too." "I hate to think what would happen if either of those two become an official gym leader" said Clara. "When Yas and Kaz fight, their Pokemon keeps wrecking the town" said Ben. "At this rate," said Brock "everyone will think all Pokemon trainers are dangerous. We need to stop them." "What can we do big sister?" asked Tomo. Suddenly Ash had a thought. "Hey kids," she said " Scyther and Electabuzz are Yas and Kaz's strongest Pokemon, right?" "Yeah, they are" answered Troy. "I've got it," said Ash "remember when Yas's Scyther went berserk because of the red paint?" The others nodded. "Well, I remember reading something on my Rotom phone that Scyther and Electabuzz hate the color red and whenever they see anything in red they attack like crazy. They even attack humans if they wear anything in red. So I plan to make both Scyther and Electabuzz see red." "I get it," said Astrid "then if they attack their own trainers then Yas and Kaz will suffer a humiliating defeat and will learn a lesson that they'll never forget." "Exactly," said Ash "Mr. Jim we will need a lot of tomato juice and I will also need to tell everyone in this town to take shelter in their homes, until the fight is over. And you kids, I will need your help too in this plan." Everyone agreed with the plan and offered to help and they all acted fast on Ash's plan.
That afternoon Yas and Kaz and their disciples started to have another one of their street fights. "Let's go Scyther!" shouted Yas. "Go Electabuzz!" shouted Kaz. The disciples let out their Pokemon fight too. The Pokemon were fighting each other like crazy and the humans were at each other too. It wasn't a pleasant sight.
Ash and the gang were watching everything on the roof. "Okay," said Ash "it's time." The gang poured barrels of tomato juice over Yas and Kaz. When Scyther and Electabuzz saw their trainers covered in red, they attacked them immediately. Yas nearly got cut up by Scyther and Kaz kept on getting shocked by Electabuzz. "Your plan is working Ash" said Brock. "Only one more thing to do" said Ash. She grabbed a bucket full of tomato juice and poured it over Scyther and Electabuzz. When Scyther and Electabuzz met eye to eye, they fought with each other until they collapsed from exhaustion. "Learnt your lesson now?!" Ash shouted from the rooftop. Yas and Kaz got really angry and decided to join forces. "Attack those kids on the roof!" They ordered their disciples. Ash had Eevee use swift and Tomo had Growlithe use fire spin. Both Yas and Kaz and their disciples got hurt and burnt.
Just then a mysterious patron showed up. "I'm a Pokemon League Inspector" she said, holding up a Pokeball. She released her Pokemon from the Pokeball; it was a Chansey and the mysterious patron revealed herself as Nurse Joy. Yas and Kaz panicked by that. "I have seen everything that you two have done," she scolded "and I will never expect people like you to become gym leaders." Yas and Kaz begged Nurse Joy for another chance. "Very well," said Nurse Joy "but I suggest you listen to what this young lady has to say." She pointed to Ash who was confused. Ash bravely stepped forward to speak. "Well first of all," she said "using your Pokemon as tools for your selfish and greedy goals is wrong. They are not just for fighting; they are there to be by your side as partners and best friends for life. I mean you love your Pokemon right?" "Of course" said Yas and Kaz together. "Exactly," said Ash "seriously what you did with them doesn't make you deserve the right to become Pokemon trainers, let alone gym leaders. And last of all your gyms would give other gyms a bad name. Don't you agree Ceaser?" Brock agreed at once, after all, he is a gym leader. "So if you two want to start anew I suggest that you repair all the damage that you have done to Dark City, and apologize to all the citizens of Dark City. And last of all rebuild your friendships with your Pokemon and each other." Yas and Kaz agreed to that at once.
And so Dark City was at peace at last. The Yas and Kaz gyms worked together with their Pokemon to fix up Dark City. And the citizens were grateful to Ash and the gang for all their help. "Thanks to you five," said Mr. Jim "children can play in the streets again. And we won't have to be scared of Pokemon trainers or Pokemon ever again." "I just hope this doesn't happen again" said Ash. "Don't worry," said Nurse Joy "I'll make sure this doesn't happen again." "We were wrong about Pokemon trainers being bad guys," said Ben "now we all want to become Pokemon trainers." Troy and Alex nodded in agreement. "I'm sure you three will become great trainers" said Ash.
Then Ash and the gang left Dark City, knowing everything will be alright.
After the events in Dark City, the gang continued on the path to Cinnabar Island for Ash's next gym badge. While on the road they came across a carnival and decided to have some fun.
"Wow a carnival" said Astrid in delight as they watched a group of people dressed up and dancing. "This is awesome" said Brock. "This is lucky," said Ash "we managed to land right in the middle of a carnival. This is good for us because we could use a break." "This carnival does look like fun," said Clara "what should we do first?" "Let's see… how about-" Ash stopped mid-sentence as she spotted Brock dressed up like a fool doing a strange dance in front of a large crowd. Astrid facepalmed. "What is he doing?" she wondered. "I…have no idea" Ash rubbed her temples in embarrassment. Eevee looked away, Clara sighed and Tomo was confused. "Let's pretend we don't know him" said Ash. "Good idea" said Clara.
The group had got on some rides and they had a blast. After that they all got some ice cream to cool them down from their excitement. Astrid then noticed a woman arguing with a man, she managed to hear her complain about him owing her money before she pushed him into a box and walked away. Concerned Astrid went over to him, followed by Ash and the others.
"Are you okay?" Astrid asked as she helped him up. The man grabbed her hands, looking desperate. "Please be my assistant!" he said. Astrid blinked. "I'm sorry?" she said. "Excuse me sir," said Ash "but why do you need an assistant?" "You see I'm a magician who runs a magic show and that woman just now was my assistant who just quit on me. My name is Melvin and this is my Exeggcute" Melvin introduced himself.
Ash scans it; Exeggcute, the egg Pokemon. A Grass and Psychic Type. Exeggcute is made up of six heads that communicate with each other using telepathy.
"Interesting" said Clara. "So will you be my new assistant?" Melvin asked again. "Okay," said Astrid "but only for today." "I have a bad feeling about this" said Ash. "I'm with you on that Ash" said Clara. Eevee, Tomo and Growlithe were also worried.
Ash shook her head as she saw poor Astrid being forced to wear a leotard adorned with Goldeen fins, she looked completely embarrassed, but luckily for her only four showed up for Melvin's magic show. "I can't believe he made Astrid wear that horrible thing" sighed Ash. "I can't believe she had the nerve to wear it" said Clara. "She doesn't look happy" said Tomo. "You wouldn't be either if you were forced to wear that" said Brock. The Pokemon also felt bad for Astrid too. "For my first performance I will juggle my Exeggucte!" Melvin started juggling his Exeggcute, but there's a problem with the performance. "This is boring" said Tomo. "It really is" said Ash. Melvin then pulled out a wand and a tiny flame came out making the crowd fall back. "That was pathetic!" They exclaimed. Ash shook her head. "This is not going well at all" she said. "No kidding" said Brock. Melvin tried one more time and his second attempt worked out. Astrid told him to be careful, but sadly he didn't listen as the flames triggered the sprinkler system soaking everyone in the crowd. Ash said what everyone was thinking. "Three strikes and you're out."
After that disaster they all went outside. "Well that was a disaster" said Brock. "Tell me about it," said Clara "even the crowd looked bored out of their minds." "I think he needs to work on his magic skills a bit more" said Ash. "Sorry Ash but I think we all can agree that his so-called 'magic skills' are pretty much non-existent" said Brock. "I agree with Brock on this one" said Astrid. "Hey look there he is" Tomo pointed, making them all look in the direction he was pointing in. Sure enough, it was Melvin, who was getting yelled at again, but this time by another man who seemed to be the manager. "You're fired! That stunt you pulled was dangerous and it could've hurt everyone in the audience!" he said "I'm sorry, but you're done!" The manager walked away from the heartbroken man. "You okay Melvin?" asked Ash. Melvin sighed. "It's just…it's always been my dream to become a magician," he said "but after this…maybe I should just give up." Ash put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Don't give up just yet, we'll help you out." "You will?" asked Melvin. "Trust me we know what to do right?" Ash looked at the others who all had smiles on their faces. Melvin smiled with tears in his eyes. "Thank you."
"Evening ladies and gentlemen! I will now perform my first trick for you all today! See this magic box? I will now command 'fire' to come out of it!" Ash raised her hand and sure enough fire came out of the magic box much to the crowd's delight. "Next I will command 'water!" Fire was then replaced with water, making everyone clap their hands with excitement. "Wow Ash is really good" said Melvin. "I get what she's doing," Brock observed "she's using her Pokemon to get the crowd fire up." Ash was using Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Espeon to help out with the magic routine she had all of them in the same box and luckily they weren't having problems with each other. "And now here's something you'll really like! I will now combine 'psychic' with 'leaf!" Ash announced. The crowd didn't understand until some leaves burst out of the box and they glowed blue moving around the stage and the crowd was loving it even more than they did before. "Wow! That was amazing!" said Clara. "She combined Espeon's psychic attack with Bulbasaur's razor leaf attack" Brock explained. "It was awesome!" said Tomo. "It's so beautiful" said Astrid. "Simply magnificent" said Melvin. "Look they're done" said Brock. Ash bowed to the crowd before picking up the box and going back over to the others. "Well that was fun, you guys can come out now." Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Espeon all got out of the box. "Thanks for your help guys." The Pokemon cheered, happy to help. Espeon actually wanted to do it again. Ash giggled.
Suddenly they heard a rumble. They ran outside and saw a herd of Exeggutor storming through the carnival. When one of the Exeggutor came close to the tent, Espeon use psychic which caused it to move away from the tent. Once the herd of Exeggutor was gone, the gang then went to the center of the carnival only to see the carnival nearly destroyed. "Oh no!" said Clara. "I hope no one's hurt" said Astrid in a worried tone. "Look!" said Brock. The Exeggutor were coming right at them. "Everyone get out of the way!" said Ash. Everyone quickly got out of the way. "What's going on with them?" asked Astrid. "My guess is they must've hypnotized each other and they are now going on a rampage!" said Brock. "Well that's just great" said Clara, sarcastically. "Hey, are you kids okay?!" The carnival owner appeared. "We're fine" said Ash. "Good don't worry, I have a plan to deal with those Exeggutor. I planted a bomb so that when they come back they will explode!" he explained. "Are you crazy?! That's murder!" shouted Astrid. "We'll stop the Exeggutor!" Ash said with determination. "We can still catch up to them if we hurry!" said Brock. They all ran in the direction where the Exeggutor went off to until they finally found them. "There they are!" said Brock. "But how do we stop them?" asked Astrid. "Like this," said Ash "Charmander use flamethrower!" Charmander threw his respective attack at the Exeggutor stopping some of them in their tracks. "It's working!" said Brock. Some of the Exeggutor kept on coming despite the fire attack. Some have stopped while the others kept coming. Charmander was getting more exhausted after each attack he launched. "They're still coming!" said Clara. "Now what?" asked Tomo. "Melvin, that trick you used back at the magic show!" Astrid exclaimed. "Yeah, what about it?" asked Melvin. "Try using it on the Exeggutor!" said Astrid. "What? But-" "You can do it! I know you can!" she told him honestly. Melvin still had his doubts, but he tried it anyway and by some luck the trick actually worked! Together with Charmander they stopped the Exeggutor in their tracks, finally. Ash breathed a sigh of relief. "We did it." She knelt next to Charmander and patted him on the head much to his delight. "You did a great job, Charmander, we're all proud of you." Charmander smiled in delight before looking confused. His body glowed and Ash moved her hand away. They look at Charmander in confusion. "Charmander's evolving!" said Ash, happily. Charmander's body got a bit bigger, and the light disappeared, revealing he evolved into Charmeleon. "Charmander, you evolved!" Ash hugged Chameleon. "I'm so proud of you." Chameleon hugged her back and nuzzled her.
Ash scans her new Pokemon; Chameleon, the flame Pokemon. A Fire Type and the evolved form of Charmander. When Chameleon takes on a powerful opponent in battle, its tail flame glows. Its claws are very sharp. New moves: Inferno and Fireblast
Astrid sighed in relief. "Thank goodness that's over with." "Me too, but I feel like we're forgetting something" said Brock.
BOOM!
"Maybe that was it" he said. "At least no one got hurt" said Clara. "That's a good thing" said Tomo. "Hey Melvin, do you want to evolve your Exeggcute?" asked Ash. "Huh?" said Melvin. "I have a leaf stone that I'm not using at the moment," said Ash "so you can use it if you want." Melvin looked at his Exeggcute who nodded. "Okay deal" he said. Ash gave Melvin her leaf stone and Melvin used it on Exeggcute who evolved into Exeggutor.
Ash, seeing the situation was better, decides to scan it; Exeggutor, the coconut Pokemon. A Grass and Psychic Type and the evolved form of Exeggcute. Exeggutor is known as 'The Walking Jungle.' Its three heads can think independently, but since they get along so well, there's never an argument.
"Hey Melvin how we have a battle between our new evolved Pokemon" Ash suggested. "Okay let's go for it" said Melvin. They went back to the tent and Ash and Melvin got into battle position. "Trainers ready?" Brock said as the referee. "Ready" Ash and Melvin said. "Alright battle begin!" said Brock. "Exeggutor use stomp" said Melvin. Exeggutor jumps in the air ready to stomp Charmeleon. "Dodge it" said Ash. Chameleon quickly dodges the attack. "Now use slash." Charmeleon ran towards Exeguttor with its claws glowing white and slashed Exeggutor, sending it back a bit. "Are you okay?" asked Melvin. Exeggutor nodded. "Okay then use seed bomb." Exeggutor fired multiple glowing green explosive seeds from its mouth. "Counter with flamethrower" said Ash. Charmeleon fired a flamethrower at the seed bomb. The two attacks collide, making a mini-explosion. Both Pokemon were still standing. "Use hypnosis" said Melvin. Exeggutor's eyes glowed blue and Charmeleon falls asleep. "On no!" said Ash. "That's not good" said Clara. "Now use uproar" said Melvin. Exeggutor chants loudly as booming sound waves came out of its mouth and hit Charmeleon. Charmeleon instantly wakes up and covers his ears. The uproar went on several seconds before it stopped. "That was close," said Ash "you alright?" Chameleon nods yes. "Good now use fire spin." A spiraling whirl of flames shot out Chameleon's mouth and surrounded Exeggutor. "Uh oh" said Melvin. "Now use inferno" said Ash. While fire spin was still in effect, Charmeleon releases a stream of blue fire from his mouth at Exeggutor. Exeggutor got hurt from the two fire attacks, but surprisingly Exeggutor was still standing. "How is it still standing?" asked Astrid. "He's good" said Clara. "Solar beam" said Melvin. "Flamethrower" said Ash. Solar beam and flamethrower collided and caused an explosion. When the smoke cleared everyone could see that Charmelon was still standing and Exeggutor was on the ground with swirls in its eyes. "I guess it couldn't take three fire attacks" said Clara. "Exeggutor is unable to battle," said Brock "Charmeleon and Ash are the winners." Ash and Charmelon hugged each other and Brock went over to heal Exeggutor.
"Thank you for the battle Ashley" said Melvin. "Your welcome" said Ash. "Don't sell yourself short Melvin you were good too" said Astrid. "Thank you" said Melvin. "You are going to keep continuing your dream right?" asked Ash. Melvin looks at her. "Just because you made a few mistakes doesn't mean you should quit so easily. A few mistakes can help you learn what you have to do to improve. Don't give up till it's over." "Big sister is right" said Tomo. "Okay, I'll continue being a magician and maybe one day I'll become famous" said Melvin. "And we'll come to see your new magic show" said Brock.
At sunset they bid farewell to Melvin and wished him luck as they continued their journey.
Today the gang were relaxing by a small waterfall. "Ah what a beautiful day" said Astrid. Ash had her Swablu, Mantyke, Xatu, Persian and Dewgong with her.
Ash looks them up; This Swablu is Female. Attacks: Safeguard, Sing, Ice Beam, Mist, Moonblast, Cotton Guard and the egg move Dragon Rush which is locked.
"Wow Swablu," said Ash "your moves are impressive. You even know a fairy type move." Swablu smiled. "Okay next."
Mantyke is Female. Attacks: Bubble Beam, Air Cutter, Agility, Aqua Ring, Icy Wind, Surf and the egg move Confuse Ray which is locked.
"You're pretty good too." Mantyke smiled. "Next."
Xatu is Male. Attacks: Air Slash, Tailwind, Future Sight, Psychic, Teleport, Reflect, Peck and the egg move Zen Headbutt which is locked.
"Last but not least Persian."
Persian, the classy cat Pokemon. A Normal Type and the evolved form of Meowth. Persian detects its surroundings by using its six whiskers to sense movement in the air. Female. Attacks: Power Gem, Pay Day, Fury Swipes, Thunderbolt, Dream Eater, Screech and the egg move Hypnosis which is unlocked.
"All you guys are amazing. Now go play." Persian went to take a nap in the shade, Mantyke played in the water, Xatu stood in the shade next to Persian and Swablu was flying around with Pidgeot. Ash and Tomo changed into their swimsuits and played in the water. They were splashing each other and having fun. "Hey you guys" said a voice.
They turned to the source of the voice and to their surprise it was Misty. Ash and Tomo came out of the water. "Misty, what are you doing here?" asked Astrid. "After you guys left," said Misty "I've decided to go on a journey. That way I could learn more about water Pokemon and become an even better gym leader." She notices Clara and Tomo. "Who are you two?" "I'm Clara, Ash's cousin" said Clara. "I'm Tomo, Ash's brother" said Tomo. "I didn't know you had a brother, Ash" said Misty. Ash and Tomo explained to Misty how Tomo used to be with Ranger Jenny in the Pokemon Reserve and how he became part of the family. "Oh that's so sweet," said Misty "you enjoy traveling with Ash?" Ash petted Dewgong and told her to go swim with the others. Brock, Misty, Astrid and Clara changed into their swimsuits. They were chilling on land while Ash and Tomo played in the water. Suddenly Ash had a sneaky idea and had a water gun in the shape of a Squirtle. She had a second one and she gave it to Tomo. Tomo was confused, but when Ash whispered the plan in his ear he understood. Ash squirted Brock and Misty while Tomo squirted Astrid and Clara. "Hey!" they shouted. Ash and Tomo burst out laughing. "You should've seen the look on your face" laughed Tomo. The others had competitive looks on their faces. "No one squirts me with water and gets away with it," said Misty "come on Brock let's show them who's boss." "Let's do the same" Clara said to Astrid. The others jumped in the water and started splashing Ash and Tomo. " Oh it's on" said Ash. It turned into a water fight; they were splashing and squirting each other everywhere. In the end they called a truce and got out of the water. "That was fun!" exclaimed Tomo. "Very fun" commented Astrid. They dried off and put their normal clothes on.
"Hey Ash," said Misty "let's have a battle." "Huh?" said Ash. "I want to see how strong you've gotten," said Misty "and I want you to see how strong I've become." "Okay deal," said Ash "how many Pokemon?" "A 3v3 battle" said Misty. "Deal" said Ash. Ash and Misty took their spots and Brock as the referee. "The battle between Ash and Misty is about to begin," he said "this is a casual battle, so there are no stakes. Battle begin!" "Slowbro go!" said Misty.
Ash scans it; Slowbro, the hermit crab Pokemon. A Water and Psychic Type and an evolved form of Slowpoke. Though usually dimwitted, it seems to become inspired if the Shellder on its tail bites down.
"I see," said Ash "I choose Eevee!" Eevee runs in front of Ash. "You chose Eevee first just like when we first battled," said Misty "Slowbro use water gun!" Slowbro fires a water gun towards Eevee. "Use protect" said Ash. Eevee made a protective barrier in front of herself unharming her from the water gun. "Eevee let's try your new move. Use trump card!" Eevee creates six red-glowing cards in the form of a ring in front of her body. Eevee then fires the attack at Slowbro. Slowbro couldn't dodge so he got hit by the attack. "Slowbro are you okay?" asked Misty. Slowbro nods. "Slowbro didn't try to dodge" said Clara. "Slowbro couldn't dodge the attack if it wanted to," said Brock "like swift trump card never miss." "Slowbro use focus punch" said Misty. "Counter with iron tail" said Ash. Slowbro and Eevee were at each other like they were in a sword fight. "Now thunder punch" said Misty. Slowbro's other arm is surrounded in electricity and punches Eevee, knocking her back. "Eevee are you okay?" asked Ash, worried. Eevee gets back up and nods her head. Just then sparks surrounded Eevee. "Oh no," said Ash "Eevee's paralyzed." "Now use mega kick" said Misty. Slowbro charged towards Eevee with his right foot glowing white and when he was close enough he kicked Eevee. "Eevee!" shouted Ash. Eevee was getting tired and the paralysis wasn't helping. "This isn't good" said Astrid. "One more focus punch" said Misty. Slowbro runs towards Eevee and punches her. Since focus punch was a fighting type move and Eevee was getting hurt, she fainted. "Eevee is unable to battle," said Brock "Slowbro wins."
Ash picked up Eevee and grabbed some potions to heal her. Eevee woke up looking sad that she lost against Misty again. "Don't feel bad," said Ash "you did your best. And you know I'm proud of you for that." Eevee looks up and licks Ash's hand. "Okay," said Ash "Bulbasaur go!" Bulbasaur ran in front of Ash. "Slowbro return," said Misty "go Golduck." "Your Psyduck evolved," said Ash "you know I have a Golduck too." "That's awesome," said Misty "now with that out of the way Golduck use hydro pump." Golduck fires a huge blast of water towards Bulbasaur. "Use vine whip to jump" said Ash. Bulbasaur used his vines to jump into the air. "Now use energy ball." Bulbasaur opens his mouth and forms a green ball of energy in front of his mouth. It fires it at Golduck. "Gold counter with hydro pump" said Misty. Golduck fires another hydro pump at the energy ball and makes an explosion. The smoke cleared and they were both still standing. "Use vine whip" said Ash. Bulbasaur wrapped Golduck up in his vines. "Now tackle." Bulbasaur charged toward Gloduck and slammed into him. Bulbasaur released Golduck and Golduck was spinning like a top. "Energy ball!" Bulbasaur fired another energy ball at Golduck and this time it hit. Golduck fainted. "Golduck is unable to battle," said Brock "Bulbasaur wins."
Ash petted Bulbasaur and told him he did a great job. "Golduck return," said Misty "I think you remember who I'll be using." "Here we go," said Ash "Bulbasaur return. Pichu, I choose you." "Go Starmie" said Misty. Both Pokemon appeared ready to battle. "Be careful with this one Pichu" said Ash. Pichu nodded her head. "Starmie rapid spin" said Misty. Starmie started to spin and charged towards Pichu. "Pichu double team" said Ash. Pichu made multiple copies of herself, making Starmie miss. "Now use thundershock." Pichu releases a beam of yellow electricity from her body at Starmie. "Starmie swift let's go" said Misty. Starmie releases stars of its gem, which collides with thundershock. "Pichu use quick attack" said Ash. Pichu takes off like a blur and slammed into Starmie. "While you're still close, use nuzzle." Pichu rubs her cheek repeatedly until she generates static electricity. She then nuzzles her cheek against Starmie, shocking it. "Oh Starmie," said Misty "use recover." Starmie glowed a rainbow color and healed itself a bit. "Now use water gun." Starmie fired a water gun at Pichu. "Use double team" said Ash. Pichu made copies of herself. "Okay then," said Misty "spin and use water gun on all of them." Starmie spins and use water gun on all of them and hits the real one. "Pichu!" shouted Ash. Pichu got up. "Okay then use sweet kiss." Pichu blows a kiss at Starmie and releases a pink heart, confusing it. "Oh no! Starmie!" said Misty, worried. "Sweet kiss had the power to stun and confuse the opponent" Brock explained to the others. "Use thundershock" said Pichu, Pichu fired a thundershock at Starmie. Starmie got really hurt by that and fainted. "Starmie is unable to battle," said Brock "Pichu and Ash are the winners."
Ash and Pichu hugged each other while Misty returned Starmie. "You've beaten me again Ash," she said "you have become a lot stronger." "Thank you Misty" said Ash. Ash showed Misty all of her water Pokemon. Misty was surprised that her Staryu was a Starmie and she loved every one of them. They decided to talk for a bit while Ash made something to eat. They talked so much they didn't notice the sun was setting. "It's almost night time" said Clara. "Time sure flew," said Brock "Misty wanna camp out with us? You could leave in the morning after breakfast." "Okay" said Misty. Brock made dinner and Ash made hot chocolate while the rest started a fire. They ate dinner, had hot chocolate and went to bed.
The next day they all woke up at the same time and did some stretches. Ash made breakfast. "Wow Ash," said Misty "this is amazing." "Thanks Misty" said Ash. "Okay gang I think it's time for me to hit the road" said Misty. Misty got and hugged Brock. Then she left waving bye to the gang. "Well there she goes" said Astrid. "We'll see her again" said Brock. "We most definitely will" said Ash. They cleaned up and continued their journey.
