Chapter 21
Sapphire Town, Battle Tournament and Meeting John & Travin
Today Ash and the gang are now in Sapphire Town. "So Ash," said Astrid "why are we here?" "I heard there was a Contest here," replied Ash "so I'm planning to get my third ribbon here." Everywhere they look they see everything the color of sapphire. "I see why it's called Sapphire Town" said Clara. "Yeah, no kidding" said Brock. "Who are you going to use Ash?" asked Tomo. "I decided to use Eevee and Oddish" answered Ash. "Is Oddish ready for a Contest?" asked Brock. "Yes," said Ash "I've trained Oddish for this."
"Come on, work harder" said a voice. Ash and the gang were confused and ran towards the voice. The voice was from a girl with brown hair, green eyes, wearing a sapphire blue dress and shoes. "What's going on?" asked Astrid. The girl looked up and saw the gang staring at her. "Oh hi, I'm Stacy" she said. The gang introduced themselves. "Stacy, are you entering the contest?" asked Brock. "Yes, I am," said Stacy confidently "are any of you are?" "I am" said Ash. "Well Ashley," said Stacy "I'm bringing my A-game." "So will I" said Ash. The gang noticed she has a Poliwag and a Vaporeon. Stacy starts bragging about how she already has three ribbons and how hard she worked to earn them. Ash wasn't listening; she was looking at her Pokemon and noticing they were panting hard. "Come on you two," Stacy said to her Pokemon "back to work." Her Pokemon sighed, but didn't protest. Ash could see she was pushing her Pokemon too hard. Stacy returned her Pokemon and walked off. "She was something" said Clara. "I don't like the way she was pushing her Pokemon" said Ash. "She was such a bragger" said Clara, annoyed. "Maybe she's on a winning streak and is getting overconfident" said Brock. "I hope that's not the case" said Ash.
Ash went to the Pokemon Center to practice. "Okay, you two," said Ash "today's the day we win our third ribbon. Let's do our best." Eevee and Oddish cheered. "Okay Oddish let me see what moves you."
Oddish Attacks: Petal Dance, Sunny Day, Solar Beam, Poison Powder, Protect, Acid and Toxic.
"Those are pretty good attacks" said Ash. Oddish blushed in embarrassment. Ash, Oddish, and Eevee practiced for a while until it was time for the Contest to begin. Lilian did the usual introductions and showed off the ribbon. It was unsurprisingly sapphire with a white outline. Stacy was up first and she called out her Vaporeon. "Okay use swift" she said. Vaporeon fired stars from its tail. "Ice beam Vaporeon." Vaporeon fired an ice beam towards the stars, freezing them. "Now aurora beam." Vaporeon fired a multi-colored beam from its mouth towards the frozen stars, breaking them and making rainbow sparkles. The crowd and the judges liked it. Stacy took a bow before leaving with Vaporeon. "That wasn't bad" said Astrid. Many more performances went after Stacy and then it was finally Ash's turn. "Let's go Eevee" said Ash. Eevee jumped off Ash's head and ran on the stage. Ash had three balls in her hand. "Okay Eevee." Ash threw the balls at Eevee and Eevee hit them back with iron tail. The crowd and the judges thought it was sweet. "Aww how cute," said Clara "you could feel the bond between Ash and Eevee." "I agree" said Astrid. "Okay, break them with iron tail." Eevee destroyed the balls with iron tail and confetti appeared out of them. "Now quick attack." Eevee moved like a blur in and out of the confetti. Ash held out her arm and Eevee jumped and landed perfectly. Ash and Eevee bowed before leaving.
After all the performances were over, the results of the battle round came up. Ash and Stacy passed the round with six other coordinators. In the battle round, Ash used Oddish and Stacy used Poliwag. Ash defeated her first and second opponents and so did Stacy. "Stacy is a good battler" said Astrid. "Ash will be fine" said Brock.
It was time for the final battle between Ash and Stacy. 'Ash is right,' Brock thought 'she works her Pokemon too hard.' Ash and Stacy sent out their Pokemon and the battle started. "Oddish use petal dance" said Ash. A spiraling whirl of petals shot out Oddish's leaves and twirled towards Poliwag. "Use ice beam" said Stacy. Poliwag shot an ice beam out its mouth towards the petals and froze them. "Use hydro pump" said Stacy. Poliwag sprayed a big blast of water towards Oddish. "Oddish protect" said Ash. Oddish made a green barrier appear in front of her and was unharmed from the hydro pump. "Poison powder" said Ash. A sprayed a poison powder from her leaves towards Poliwag. "Now blizzard" said Stacy. Poliwag summons a blizzard to strike Oddish. Blizzard broke through the poison powder and hits Oddish. "Oddish!" said Ash, worried. Ash lost more points. Oddish isn't frozen, but she feels hurt from the ice attack. "Oddish can you still go on?" asked Ash. Oddish lets out a loud battle cry and evolves into Gloom. "Awesome you evolved!" said Ash. "An evolution won't help," said Stacy "use blizzard." "Gloom use sunny day" said Ash. Gloom glowed white and made the sun shine brighter. "Now solarbeam." Gloom lets out a powerful solar beam and it collided with Blizzard. "Doesn't solarbeam take time to charge?" asked Astrid. "Normally it does," said Brock "but Ash used Sunny Day. The bright sun makes solar beam charge quicker." "Gloom petal dance" said Ash. Gloom launches another petal dance from her leaves and this time it hits Poliwag. Poliwag was panting hard, but Stacy wasn't paying attention. "Poliwag don't take that hydro pump" said Stacy. "Protect" said Ash. Once again Gloom was unharmed from the attack.
Just then the time for the battle round was up. The result was Ash and Gloom were the winners with a few more points than Stacy. Stacy was shocked that she lost. She returned her Poliwag and left. Ash was presented with the Sapphire Ribbon.
After the contest was over the gang had a rest at the Pokemon Center. "Wow Ash," said Clara "I was scared for a second." "You were great big sister" said Tomo. "I think she was overconfident because she didn't notice Poliwag panting heavily" said Brock. "I think you're right Brock" said Astrid. Ash was hugging her newly evolved Gloom, thanking her for her hard work. 'Hey Ashley" said a voice. It was Stacy. "You beat me, but I will be stronger next time" she said. "Stacy, don't push your Pokemon too hard" said Ash. "What do you mean?" asked Stacy. The gang looked at her like she was crazy. "Didn't you notice the condition of your Pokemon?" said Ash, annoyed "your Poliwag was panting hard in our battle." "Do you always train your Pokemon like this?" asked Brock. "Yes I do" said Stacy. "What we're trying to say is," said Ash "go easy on them, they did a lot for you and you should go the same for them." "I'll think about it" said Stacy, walking away. "I hope she changes," said Ash. "Me too" said Brock. Ash was happy to get her third ribbon and Oddish evolved.
After the Contest, the gang decided to sightsee Sapphire Town. "How about we get some souvenirs?" asked Astrid. "That's a good idea," said Ash "let's split up." So the gang split up to buy souvenirs. Ash, Eevee and Tomo were walking down a street until they noticed a shop selling Sapphire figurines. "Ohh figurines" said Ash. Ash bought four figures, blue ribbons and a wristband. She sent two figures home and wrapped the other two in her backpack. Ash, Eevee and Tomo met with others at the Pokemon Center. "I've got a Sapphire blue dress and shoes" said Clara. "I got the same thing" said Astrid. "I got some figurines I sent home" said Brock. "I got four figurines and ribbons," said Ash "and I got Tomo a wrist band." Just Eevee noticed a poster on the wall. "What is it Eevee?" asked Ash. Eevee pointed to the poster. "Hey, it's a poster" said Clara. Ash walked over to it. "It says The Annual Double Battle Tournament," said Ash. "A double battle?" asked Tomo. "That's when two Pokemon battle together" explained Brock. "I've never been in a double before" said Ash. "Why don't you try?" said Clara "it could be good for the future." "Yeah Ash," said Brock "someday you might have to do a double battle." "Okay I'll give it a try" said Ash. Ash went to Nurse Joy and signed up.
Nurse Joy led Ash and the gang to the tournament; it was a big stadium. "The battles will start at 2:00," said Nurse Joy "please be here on time." "Don't worry I will" said Ash. Ash and Nurse Joy went back to the Pokemon Center to get Ash's Pokemon checked up. A lot of time has passed and it was time for the tournament. "Welcome to Sapphire Town's Annual Double Battle Tournament," said the announcer "all the trainers entering will receive a pendant for joining. Third place will receive a Pokemon medicine book and a fire stone. Second place will receive a water stone and Pokemon food. And first place will receive a music book and an ocarina." 'Wow an ocarina that would be cool' thought Ash. "And I will announce the rules," said the referee "each trainer will use two Pokemon. And the first two first trainers step up." On the left was a girl with blonde hair named Kiki and on the right side was Ash. "Trainers send out your Pokemon" said the ref. Kiki sent out Vileplume and Fearow. "Eevee, Vaporeon I choose you" said Ash. "Okay trainers begin!" said the ref. "Vileplume use solar beam and Fearow use steel wing" said Kiki. While Vieplume was charging up a solar beam, Fearow moved in close with a steel wing. "Eevee detect and Vaporeon use ice beam" said Ash. Eevee's eyes glowed white and immediately dodged the steel wing while Vaporeon fired an ice beam towards Vileplume before Vieplume could finish its solarbeam. Vieplume stumbled back. "Fearow use hyper beam" said Kiki. Fearow fired a hyper beam towards Eevee and Vaporeon. "Eevee use swift and Vaporeon hydro pump" said Ash. The swift and hydro pump combined and attacked both Vileplume and Fearow. "Oh no!" said Kiki "are you two okay?" Fearow and Vieplume weakly got back up. "Fearow use hyper beam again" said Kiki. 'Is she crazy' thought Ash? "Vieplume use petal dance" said Kiki. Hyper beam and petal dance collie and tries to attack Eevee and Vaporeon. "Ice beam and swift" said Ash. Ice beam froze the petal dance and the swift collie with the hyper beam. "Use swift and hydro pump." The swift and hydro pump combined and attack both Vileplume and Fearow, knocking them back. Fearow and Vieplume tried to get back up, but they failed. "Oh no!" said Kiki. Fearow and Vieplume fell back down and fainted. "Fearow and Vieplume are unable to battle," said the ref "Ashley is the winner." "Alright!" said Ash. Her Pokemon jumped her arms. "You two were amazing." Her Pokemon nuzzled her cheeks.
A lot of battles went on until it was time for the semi-finals. "It's time for the semi-finals," said the announcer "bring out our two trainers who will be battling first." On the left side was a boy with spiky hair named Alex and on the right was Ash. "Trainers bring out your Pokemon" said the ref. Alex sent out Beedrill and Scyther. "Jolteon Flareon let's go" said Ash. "Okay battle begin" said the ref. "Just because you're using a fire type," said Alex "you won't win. Beedrill you drill run and Scyther double team." Beedrill starts rotating its body like a drill and rams into Jolteon while Scyther makes copies of itself. "This won't be easy for Ash" said Clara. "Yeah, especially since Scyther are speedy Pokemon" said Brock. "But don't forget Ash has a Scyther too" said Tomo. "You're right" said Astrid. "Jolteon thunderbolt and Flareon fire spin" said Ash. Jolteon and Flareon fired their respective attacks. Alex smirks. "Beedrill dodge it." Beedrill quickly dodged. "Scyther use focus energy." Scyther glows white and raises its attack power. "Oh come on" muttered Ash. "Now use slash." Scyther moved like a blur and struck Flareon. "Flareon!" shouted Ash worried. While this was happening Beedrill fired a well-timed hyper beam at Jolteon. "Alex is good" said Astrid. "Yeah no kidding, I didn't see when he told Beedrill to use hyper beam" said Clara. Tomo looked worried. Flareon and Jolteon took some damage. "Can you two still go on?" asked Ash. Flareon and Jolteon nodded. "Scyther use double team with Beedrill" said Alex. Scyther made copies of itself with Beedrill. "Fire spin and thunderbolt" said Ash. Both Pokemon fired their respective attacks and the thunderbolt surrounds the fire spin making it burst with electricity. The attack manages to knock out all the clones and Scyther and Beedrill. Scyther and Beedrill got knocked back a bit. "Not bad" said Alex. "I like how well trained are your Pokemon," said Ash "but I will not give up." "Neither will I," said Alex "Beedrill drill run and Scyther fury cutter." Scyther charges towards Flareon while Beedrill tries to ram into Jolteon. "Use flamethrower" said Ash. Flareon fired a flamethrower towards the bug types, keeping them away. "Now Jolteon thunder." Jolteon fired a large bolt of electricity towards the opponents, paralyzing them. "Didn't see that coming," said Alex "use slash." Scyther charged towards Flareon, but the paralysis is slowing it down. "Flareon use flamethrower and Jolteon use thunderbolt" said Ash. They launched their attacks at the foes, knocking them out. "Beedrill! Scyther!" said Alex. "Beedrill and Scyther are unable to battle," said the ref "Ashley is the winner." Ash hugged her Pokemon and told them thanks. The other two trainers had their battle and the winner was a trainer named Miley. There was a 20-minute break for the trainers to rest before the finals began. The gang were resting at the Pokemon Center.
"Hey Ashley" said a voice. It was Alex. "I'm glad to battle you. Your teamwork is amazing." "Yours isn't bad either," said Ash "your Pokemon were amazing. You weren't afraid of going up against a fire type." "I hope we battle again," said Alex "until then I'll be cheering you on." "Thanks Alex" said Ash. Ash and Alex shook hands. After a good break, it was time for the finals. "Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the finals," let's bring out our two spectacular trainers that made it here." Ash and Miley were on their sides. "Trainers sent out your Pokemon" said the ref. Miley sent out Ninetails and Tentacruel. 'Fire and water, huh' thought Ash. "Gengar Umbreon let's do." "Battle begin" said the ref. "Teantacruel poison sting" said Miley. Tentacruel fired a poison sting at Gengar and Umbreon. "Double shadow ball" said Ash. Umbreon and Gengar fired a shadow ball towards Tentacruel and Ninetails. "Ninetails get in front and use protect" said Miley. Ninetails jumped in front of Tentacruel and made a green barrier protecting them. "She's good" whispered Ash. "Tentacruel use double team and Ninetails use will o wisp" said Miley. Tentacruel made copies of itself while Ninetails lets out blue fire toward them. "Gengar shadow ball and Umbreon use quick attack" said Ash. Shadow ball and will o wisp collie while Umbreon speed through all the clones. "Your Pokemon have great teamwork" said Ash. "Thanks so do yours" said Miley. "Umbreon and Gengar double dark pulse" said Ash. Gengar and Umbreon fired a dark pulse at Ninetails and Tentacruel, knocking them back a bit. "Are you two okay?" asked Miley. Tentacruel and Ninetails nodded. "Gengar use drain punch" said Ash. Gengar disappeared and reappeared and punched Tentacruel in the face knocking it back again. "Umbreon use flash." Umbreon's rings glowed brightly, blinding Ninetails. "Now Gengar drain punch again." Once again Gengar disappeared and reappeared and punched Ninetails in the face. Ninetails and Tentacuel slowly got back up, having little energy as they stood. "Don't let up Gengar use confuse ray." Gengar's eyes turned blue and struck Tentacruel and Ninetails, making them confused and attacking each other. "Come you two snap out of it" said Miley, desperately. "Double shadow ball go" said Ash. Gengar and Umbreon fired a shadow ball which combined into a big shadow ball and attacked Tentacruel and Ninetails head-on. It made an explosion and dust kicked in. Everyone was waiting for the dust to clear. When the dust cleared it was revealed Tentacruel and Nintails had swirls in their eyes. "Tentacruel and Ninetails are unable to battle," said the ref "Ashley is the winner of the entire competition." "Alright!" shouted the gang. "We did it!" said Ash, hugging her Pokemon. A trainer named Stella got third place and got the Pokemon medicine and the fire stone. Miley got second place and got the water stone and Pokemon food. "Ashley Ketchum for winning the tournament," said the ref "you get this music book and this ocarina." "Thank you" said Ash, taking the items. The ocarina was sapphire blue with 12 holes. "And with that," said the announcer "ends our Annual Double Battle Tournament. Thank you all for coming." After the other trainers get a pendant Ash and the gang head back to the Pokemon Center. "You were great" said Clara, hugging Ash. Tomo joined the hug as well. "That was tiring," said Ash, hugging them back "but a lot of fun." "And it gives you great practice when you have to do a double battle someday" said Brock. "Yeah I would know what to expect" said Ash. Ash and the gang went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. They let their Pokemon out to eat and play." Next up Cinnabar Island for my next gym battle" said Ash, drinking her lemonade. "But we can make stops along the way. I'm glad they do Contests here in Kanto now." "What do you mean?" asked Astrid. "Well, back then Pokemon Contests were only found in the Hoenn region," said Ash "my dad and I would watch them on TV or in person. I enjoyed them a lot and I said I hope to enter them one day. When I turned seven, Pokemon Contests started appearing here in Kanto." "Wow, that was lucky" said Astrid. The gang talked some more and then eventually went to bed.
The next day Ash and the gang were leaving Sapphire Town. "Is everyone all packed up?" asked Brock. "Ready!" said the girls. Brock nodded. The gang left Sapphire Town and headed into the forest. Ash was checking her phone and noticed she has two emails. "Hey Luka wrote me back," she said "and I got an email from Maisy. "That's cool" said Clara, knowing who Luka and Maisy are. "Who are they?" asked Tomo. "Luka and Maisy are two of Ash's pen pals" replied Clara. "What are pen pals?" asked Tomo, again. "Pen pals are people who you write to via letter or email," said Clara "they start off as total strangers. In other words pen pals are friends who you know that live in another region."
"Hey Ash, guess what? I have six badges and a full team. And two of my Pokemon are shiny just like your Eevee. My Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava. How many badges do you have? Knowing you have a lot of Pokemon. I saw your Contests on tv, you are amazing. Good luck with the rest of your gym battles and contests.
Luka
"Hi Luka," said Ash "I'm happy for you. I also have six badges and I'm on my way to Cinnabar Island for my seventh. Thanks for watching my contests. I appreciate it. For my next one I'm not so sure. I also have an Espeon and Umbreon and I have a few more shiny Pokemon. As usual, write back when you can."
"Hiya Ash! I'm glad to know you're on a journey. I hope you come to Azalea Town one day. Grandpa and I will be very happy to see you in person. I have to go now.
Maisy
"Hi Maisy," said Ash "I'm having lots of fun. I'm making friends, catching Pokemon and going on adventures. We'll see each other one day. I just know it. Write back soon.
"Luka and Maisy sound cool," said Tomo "I hope we get to meet him." "We will" said Ash. The gang kept walking until they noticed a clearing. "Let's take a break" suggested Brock. The girls and Tomo agreed. Brock was making lunch, Clara was recording the surroundings, Tomo was playing with Growlithe and Astrid was helping Brock. Ash sits on a rock and looks through her music book. After memorizing the finger placements, she pulled out the ocarina.
Ash took a moment to wonder at its beauty, its smooth, shimmering surface semi-reflective and soothing. Then she put her lips, arranged her fingers and tested each note that the ocarina was capable of. Her mind ran through a basic song that she learned from the book, making the connection of where to put her fingers for each note.
And then she played.
The notes wavered with her inexperience, but she managed to get it right. A beautiful yet simple melody escaped the instrument. The wind and the music caressing each other. A few nearby wild Pokemon were secretly watching and enjoyed the soothing melody. Brock, Clara, Astrid, Tomo and their Pokemon were enjoying it too. By the time the music came to an end, Ash opened her eyes. "Ash, that was amazing" said Astrid. "Not bad for your first time" said Brock. "Thank you" said Ash. "Come on, let's eat" said Brock. The others agreed and ate lunch. After they finished eating, Ash decided to do some training. "Gloom, Magby let's go." Both Pokemon appeared. Magby was happy to see Ash and hugged her. "Okay, let's do some training guys." Magby and Gloom nodded. "Okay Gloom use toxic." Gloom fires a ball of violet acid from her mouth at Magby. "Magby, I want you to counter with flamethrower." Magby fired a flamethrower at toxic and made an explosion. "Do it again." Gloom and Magby kept firing flamethrower and toxic at each other, making explosions over and over. Little did they know some Beedrill were in the same area where they were training and they were sleeping until all the explosions woke them up. The Beedrill show themselves to the gang, making them startled. "Where did they come from?" asked Clara. "The Beedrill must live here," said Ash "and I think our training disturbed them." Ash and the others tried to apologize, but the Beedrill weren't listening and fired hyper beams at them. The gang ran in different directions trying to get away from them. Ash and her Pokemon one way, Astrid and Brock another way, and Clara, Tomo and Growlithe one way.
Ash and her Pokemon stop running when they notice the Beedrill weren't there anymore. "That was so close," she said "are you guys okay?" Her Pokemon nodded their heads. Ash noticed the others weren't there. "Oh great, we got separated. Swablu, I choose you." Swablu was ready to go. "I need your help to find the others." Swablu nodded and flew off. "Let's search too." So Ash and her Pokemon went searching.
With Astrid and Brock they just finished running. "Man that was close" said Astrid. "Yeah no kidding," said Brock "where are the others?" Astrid looked around and noticed it was only her and Brock. "I guess those Beedrills send us in different directions" she said. "We should find the others" said Brock. Astrid nodded.
With Tomo and Clara they also stopped running. "Now we're lost," said Clara "that's just great." Tomo looked sad; he didn't like being separated from his sister. Clara notices this and pets his head. "Don't worry Tomo," she said "we'll find them." Tomo nodded and off they went.
Back with Ash, she met a boy carrying an injured Poliwag. "Can you help me?" asked the boy, heartbrokenly. "Let's me see" said Ash. The boy placed Poliwag on the ground and introduced himself as John. Ash also introduced herself and her Pokemon. "How did this happen?" asked Ash."I was battling a trainer named Travin and his Electabuzz," said John "I know I was at a disadvantage, but he was picking on me and I let my anger get the best of me. So I challenge him to a battle and lost. His Electabuzz one-shotted my Poliwag, but then he kept smacking Poliwag around. I couldn't do anything." "That was unnecessary and cruel of him" said Ash, patting John's shoulder. "A word of advice; if you're ever in a situation like that again, recall your Pokemon to prevent further damage from being inflicted. The Pokeball will also keep your Pokemon in stasis, so they won't be in pain." John's eyes widened as he realized his oversight before he slumped. "Oh, I didn't think of that" he said. "We all have our moments" said Ash, kindly. Ash sprayed some Hyper potion on it. "I'm sure he was mean to you, but remember to consider your Pokemon's abilities and weaknesses. A Poliwag would usually have a hard time against anyone's Electabuzz. You would have to have a strategy" Ash scolded gently. Better to have the boy stuffer a crushing defeat now and learn a hard lesson from his partner's pain than him overestimating his ability and ending up with a dead Pokemon. "You'll have more chances to travel and compete, alright? Take it easy for a bit and plan your next move."
With that, she got back to treating Poliwag's wounds, not noticing the newly-determined look in John's eyes or that she had earned herself an admirer. After a while, Poliwag started to look better. "Your Poliwag will be fine" said Ash Poliwag slowly opened its eyes. "Poliwag! You're okay!" said John, happy. Poliwag saw John and jumped in his arms. The gang smiled at the scene. John suddenly hugged Ash and told her thank you. Ash giggled and hugged him back. John let go, realizing what he did blush a bit. Ash's face turned serious. "Can you take us to the last place you saw Travin?" she said. John nodded and led the Ash to the spot. "This is where we have our battle" said John, pointing to a clearing. Before Ash walked to a clearing, Swablu and the others turned up. "Big sister!" said Tomo, hugging her. Ash laughs and hugs him and Clara. The others introduced themselves to John and Ash explained the situation. At the clearing, they saw a boy about twelve years old with a wide smirk on his face and sitting on a rock. "Hey are you Travin?" asked Brock. "That's me," said Travin, noticing John "well well you came back. Didn't you learn your lesson? How embarrassing. I almost feel sorry for you." John frowned while the gang was furious. "How dare you?!" said Clara. "Bullying isn't nice" said Tomo. Travin was staring at Ash. "Why are you staring at me?" asked Ash, a little uncomfortable. "You're beautiful" said Travin. John turned from upset to jealous. "Dude, time and a place," said Clara "we're here for you to apologize to John."
Travin jumped off the rock. "Okay, let's make a deal," said Travin, pointing to Ash "I challenge you to a Pokemon battle. If you win I will apologize to John, but if I win you will be coming with me." "What?" said the gang and John. "Please tell me you won't accept this" Clara whispered to Ash. Ash looked at Travin, then looked at John. "You want him to apologize right?" said Ash. John nodded. "I accept" said Ash, shocking the gang. Travin smirks and he and Ash were across from each other. 'This will not be easy' thought Ash, remembering Kaz's Electabuzz. "Flareon I choose you." Flareon was out and ready to battle. "Battle begin" said Brock. "Alright, Electabuzz use thunder" said Travin. Electabuzz fired a large bolt of electricity towards Flareon. "Flareon protect" said Ash. Flareon made a green barrier in front of her and was unharmed from the thunder. "Good thing I had them learned protect" she whispered. "Not bad," said Travin "Electabuzz use thunder punch." Electabuzz charges towards Flareon with its right fist crackling with electricity. "Flareon use double team" said Ash. Flareon made multiple copies of herself and Electabuzz ended up missing. "Now it's our turn to attack. Use fire spin." Flareon fired a fire spin that surrounded Electabuzz, burning it in the process."Electabuzz are you alright?" asked Travin. Elecatbuzz nodded even though it was burned. "Keep it up Flareon" said Ash. "Electabuzz use thunder wave" said Travin. Electabuzz releases rings of yellow electricity from its hands at Flareon. "Oh no Flareon dodge it!" said Ash, worried. Flareon was not quick enough to dodge so she got paralyzed by the thunder wave. "Oh no," said Astrid "this could be bad." "Flareon is paralyzed and Electabuzz is burned," said Brock "this could go either way." "Use thunderbolt" said Travin. "Flareon flamethrower" said Ash. Thunderbolt and flamethrower collie and made an explosion. Flareon and Electabuzz were getting weaker. "This is risky" said Clara. "Yeah no kidding," said John "any one of them can fall." Flareon was getting tired, but she still wanted to fight. Electabuzz was panting and then the burn kicked in; it fainted from exhaustion. "Electabuzz is unable to battle," said Brock "Ashley and Flareon are the winners." Flareon jumped in Ash's arms. "Good job girl," said Ash, nuzzling her "now take a good rest." Electabuzz return," said Travin "you did well my friend." Travin walked over to Ash. "Ashley you're not just beautiful," he said "but an amazing trainer too. Hey John I'm sorry I was acting like a big jerk to you." "It's fine" said John. "But if you do this again we will hunt you down" said Astrid. "Noted" said Travin. "We should get going" said Brock. "Yeah, me too," said Travin, grabbing Ash's hand and kissing it "until we meet again." With that he left. Brock shook his head, Astrid & Clara giggled, John rolled his eyes, Tomo also shook his head and Ash was a little surprised. "Anyway I should be going too," said John "bye guys." He waved them off.
