Authors Note: Well, here you go, a new chapter. I have decided to use 1st person POV for Erius to allow me to describe his perspective better.
0:00:00... 1, 2, 3...
I awoke in total darkness, I found out that I could not move at all, nor could I touch or feel anything. Yet I could sense everything around me. Where was I? Was I dead? Why am I even here?
It felt as if I had been stuck here for eons, I had absolutely no idea how much time had passed as I was unsure if time was even a concept in this dark hell. A second here could be a billion years back in my world for all I knew… While I pondered these matters, a question kept bugging me constantly. If this hypothetically was death or the realm of death, why was it so boring here? Who even designed this? Why did the being who created this realm in their ever-infinite wisdom decide that keeping souls here in eternal solitude with nothing to do was an ingenious idea? ...Why?
All of a sudden, the world flashed white. I was momentarily blinded by the light. Then I felt it. I felt my body once again. It was quite difficult to describe the sensation, The void had given me a feeling of emptiness, I presume that it was due to the lack of a body. Also, where was I?
I looked around and saw nothing… I was now surrounded by blinding light all around me, yet I was somehow not blinded by the light… why?
A figure suddenly materialized out of thin air. He looked like an old man with flowing hair and a beard. He also had a set of white robes equipped on him while wearing a pair of curved shoes. He looked at me appraisingly as if he was examining my very soul. When I had tried to move or ask him where I was and who was he, I found out I was unable to move a muscle, much less speak. I attempted resistance but to no avail. Then I finally realized that my best bet would be to attempt negotiations with this entity that was presumably responsible for my current predicament. After several minutes of me standing still and waiting, it finally started, "I am getting quite tired of unbelievers arriving here after death you know…"
"Pardon?"
"I truly fail to see the point of allowing non-believers entry into the cycle of reincarnation. They do not believe in their creator, they do not preach, they sin... Truly despicable…"
Saying this, the entity multiplied, and five of it were standing at all sides, effectively surrounding me. Was it perhaps a hallucination as a side effect of staying in the void? Or was it something else?
The person or rather the mysterious entity who seems to be responsible for me being trapped here saw it fit to interrupt my thoughts and reply in an annoyed tone, "You lot really jump to absurd conclusions, don't you? Especially you, even that little one cannot compare to you in terms of paranoia, although I must say, your mind is quite interesting yet quite the mess…"
Wait… did he just suggest that he is capable of reading minds?! So currently I am either dealing with an entity capable of entering minds and even altering them to a certain degree or a very advanced and secretive piece of technology made by a corporation for which I am being used as a guinea pig and the entire trapped in the void was also a form of mental manipulation… or he is simply lying, that could be true as well. I should probably play along, that would be best for now. If I do give them opportune results for the supposed experiment, they might let me go or perhaps even kill me if one is being optimistic…
"That is certainly quite an interesting idea… usually, I would have felt insulted at you comparing me, your creator to a mere mortal, and having the sheer audacity to presume that I would act like one of you would have disgusted me to no end. Normally I would have cast you out of existence and cursed you to no end, but not today, today I am in a good mood thus I shall reward you; I shall personally make you see the grace of God and turn you into a believer! Thou shall be my apostle and spread my word in the land of the forsaken! You, my lost lamb shall be entrusted with guiding the rest of the flock towards salvation! Thee shall spread the sacred word of God!"
"What?"
Who was he? Did he just say creator? What did he mean by apostle?
"Yes mortal, I am your creator. Due to me feeling pleased due to one of your kind, I shall send you to that world, a land of the forsaken. Thou shall spread the word of God to them. Thy shall vanquish evil in the name of God. With this, I make you Tuaris Arthus Millin my apostle. In this life, you shall be known as 'Erius' once again. I wish you luck in your journey."
"Farewell young one, may you let the world know of divine grace. I shall grant you a blessing as a final gift."
I was very confused… what was even going on?
I did not have time to respond as I was once again surrounded by a blinding flash of light. Seriously, this was like the second time that I had been nearly blinded by this accursed light and definitely not the last...
