"He's looking right at you, Tyler. He has been all night."
My friend's gaze snapped up to mine before trailing back to the dude with the shaggy brown hair. He picked up the drink I'd just sat in front of him, taking a long pull from it. He frowned, seemingly defeated. "It doesn't matter, he's way out of my league."
I rolled my eyes, resting my elbows on the bar. "Stop that. You're a good-looking guy with a great personality. He'd be stupid not to be into you. And like I said, he's been staring at you all night. He's definitely interested. If you don't take this chance, how do you know you'll ever get it again? What if you're missing out on true love? You're a strong, independent person. You can do this. Take control of the situation."
He sighed deeply, turning back to me. "I know. You're right. And he really is hot. Fine, I'm gonna do it." He threw back the rest of his drink before slamming his empty glass back down. "Wish me luck!"
"You won't need it, but good luck."
I grinned as I watched Tyler make his way across the room. He stood at the man's table, holding his hand out and introducing himself. It was a matter of seconds before the other guy gestured for Tyler to sit and they were swept away into conversation. My job for the evening was complete.
"That was quite impressive."
A deep voice broke me from my revere, a soft gasp slipping from my lips. There, sitting in front of me, in a sleek, tailored suit, was one of the most gorgeous men I'd seen in a while. His jaw was chiseled to perfection and covered by a day's worth of stubble. I watched as his tongue peeked out, running along his full bottom lip before my gaze traveled to his eyes. They were the color of sea glass and full of mischief. His hair was a beautiful shade of brown, mixed with strands of copper.
I swore I could almost hear my vagina begging me to take this one home. It'd been a while since I'd let her see any action aside from my hand, and frankly, she was getting tired of my high standards. But this guy…he was someone we could both agree on.
"All in a day's work." I smiled at him.
A grin lit up his face, making him even more attractive. "Beautiful and modest, a rare commodity these days."
I bit my bottom lip, trying to stop myself from laughing. "Is that your best line? Surely, you can do better than that."
The tips of his ears burned red as he fidgeted in his spot. "Apparently, it is, which is kind of sad, really. I should know better."
"Oh yeah? Why's that, handsome?"
He pulled a card from his breast pocket, sliding it across the bar.
I picked it up, reading it. "Cullen's Cupids, Matchmaking Service. Edward Masen, Senior Matchmaker. Oh, Mr. Masen, you really should know better." I chuckled.
He grinned at me once again. "I guess I'm just as susceptible to a beautiful woman turning my brain to mush as any other man." He turned slightly on his stool, pointing toward a man and woman who seemed to be quarreling. "I'm here to— Fuck." he whispered beneath his breath.
"Yeah…that doesn't seem to be going so well."
"Shit," he hissed. "I've got to fix this. Look, bring me two of your best drinks when I signal you, okay?"
"Yeah, sure." I nodded, watching as he walked toward the couple.
He stood there for a few moments, chatting with the two and trying to diffuse the situation. It wasn't long before his gaze flicked over to me, and he gave me a subtle nod. I headed over to the table with two margaritas, made with top-shelf tequila.
"Hey guys," I greeted them, setting the drinks on their table. "These are on the house."
"Thank you, but that won't be necessary," the woman said as she stood to gather her things.
"Oh, you're not leaving, are you? You looked like you were having such a good time earlier. You were both smiling and laughing. Can I ask what happened?"
Edward glanced at me, panic in his eyes—which I was pretty sure was over the fact that I was taking over his job. But I didn't like to see my patrons upset.
Her date sighed. "She's wanting to post pictures of us all over social media already." He turned to the woman. "I feel you're trying to rush things, Jessica. We just met tonight. I really like you, but I want to get to know you before we bring the whole world into our relationship."
"I—you're right, Mike. I'm sorry. I really like you, too, and I wanted everyone to know how great you are. But I can wait. No one has ever made me laugh as hard as you have."
Mike held out his hand, which Jessica took before sitting back down at the table.
Edward tilted his head, signaling that we should leave them be. "How did you do that so effortlessly? I've been doing this for years, and most of the time it takes longer than five minutes to contain a situation like that."
"I'm off in ten minutes. Take me out to dinner and I'll tell you all of my secrets." I smirked at him.
"You drive a hard bargain, Miss…uh, I'm not sure I caught your name?"
This time I didn't bother to hide it and I laughed loudly. "That's because you never asked. It's Bella, Bella Swan."
The blush on his cheeks was adorable and only added to his charm. "Well, Miss Swan, I'd be happy to take you out to dinner tonight."
"Just let me clock out and we can be on our way."

Dinner was wonderful, but it seemed neither of us was ready for the night to be over. Instead, we strolled around the streets of Bellevue, hand in hand, while we chatted.
"Do you enjoy bartending?"
I shrugged. "It's sort of in my blood. My dad owns the bar, and I guess I grew up there. He was a single father, doing his best to raise a little girl on his own for the first time. I spent a lot of evenings in the kitchen or his office doing my homework, reading, or my very favorite: people watching. Then my sister would get off of work and take me home."
"Ah, a people watcher. So, that's how you got so good at matching people."
"I guess so. I never thought of it as a talent, though. What about you? Do you enjoy your job? I don't know that I've ever met a matchmaker before. I thought all of those services were done on the internet now."
"A lot of them are, but Carlisle—my boss—thinks that while you can definitely meet someone with one of those services, we can offer people more this way. We run background checks on every client, and you're less likely to meet someone who just wants in your pants if they're spending hundreds of dollars on a service."
I hummed softly. "You're not trying to get in my pants then?"
"Oh, no, I'm definitely trying to get into your pants, Miss Swan."
I pushed out a breath. "Oh, thank God."
We stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, his hands coming up to cup my face. He pressed his lips against mine, slowly deepening the kiss. I moaned softly, and his tongue slipped past my lips.
I pulled back, murmuring against his mouth. "My apartment is only a few blocks away from here."
—MM—
We fell onto my bed, a naked, tangled mess of limbs and lips.
"Oh, fuck," he grunted as I ran my foot up his thigh, letting my toes brush against his thick cock. "I don't have a foot fetish, but I'm pretty sure if you do that again, I might develop one."
I laughed, which morphed into a moan as his lips wrapped around a nipple. Threading my fingers through his hair, I gripped at the strands. "I want to feel you inside of me," I whimpered.
"I don't have a—"
"In the drawer of the end table."
He reached over, pulling out a condom. He ripped it open and slid it down and over his cock. Gripping himself in his hand, he circled the tip over my clit, causing me to moan his name. He moved down, lining himself up at my entrance, and pushed inside. A rough breath slipped from his lips and he smiled at me.
My brain and my heart suddenly went into overdrive. He smiled at me during sex, and it was so beautiful. I'd only known him for a few hours, but I could already feel our connection growing.
I didn't want to let him go.
And that was a thought that terrified and exhilarated me all at the same time.
