The next morning Natasha woke up to an empty bed, and someone pounding at her door. The first thing she thought was 'where is Steve' but then, when she saw Wanda burst into her room with a huge grin on her face, and being way too cheerful for that early in the morning, it hit her: she was getting married today.
Steve and Bucky had insisted on following tradition: he was not allowed to see her that day until they met at the altar. It was somehow important to Steve so she didn't even bother arguing with him.
Wanda shook her up, expressing rather loudly her emotions. With a not so feminine groan she pulled herself up, still half asleep. Wanda started rambling on to Natasha, who was having a hard time waking up, and was clearly not paying attention to a word she said.
Soon enough a knock was heard at the door. In case it was Steve needing something, Wanda got up from the bed to open wasn't Steve but Bucky, on behalf of his best friend, with a big grin and in his hands a trail full of food.
Bucky: "Can I come in ladies ?"
Wanda: "Do we get to keep the food ?"
Bucky: *walking past Wanda* "Steve prepared this rather huge breakfast for you Nat, and he asked me to deliver a message: he cannot wait to meet you at the altar."
Nat: "Tell him I can't wait either, and thanks for the food."
Bucky placed down the food and started to walk towards the door. He only stopped to whisper to Wanda.
Bucky: "I made breakfast for you, would you like me to bring it up here, or will you come down ?"
Wanda: *blushing* "I'll be right there."
Bucky excused himself and walked back down to the kitchen. Wanda told Nat she should eat and shower and she was going to eat before helping her with the dress.
When Wanda came back into Natasha's room, the latter was already done with breakfast and almost packed. The two women waited for Bucky's signal before joining the rest of the girls in the minivan to make their way towards the venue.
Once there, again, they had to wait until Bucky gave the all clear to enter the building and follow the long corridors until they arrived to the room that was prepared for the bride.
Natasha was beautifully surprised when she opened the door as she saw a cute bouquet of red roses, with a little note attached. She instantly knew it was Steve's.
"Hi beautiful,
Just a little something so I can be close to you, until it's time for us to meet at the altar. I love you more than anything.
Steve."
Wanda: "Natasha don't you dare cry ! I'm doing your makeup and I will kill both you and Rogers if I have to start over !"
Nat: "I don't cry."
Yelena snatched the note from Natasha's hands. She read it out loud, learning "aws" from the rest of the girls.
Yelena: "Gross. You guys are seriously disgusting."
Pepper: "No, I think it's really cute !"
Hope: "Yeah, it's adorable."
Pepper: "There's no way Tony would do something like that."
Wanda: "I doubt anyone would nowadays. It's a little old fashioned."
Natasha: *smirks* "Bucky would."
A little later, Natasha's makeup was done. She went into her dressing room to slip on her dress. Only coming back to ask the girls for help to zip her up.
On his side, Steve was ready, his suit on, a pocket square and a single rose on his jacket. He was a bit nervous about the whole ceremony, but he had no doubt about his marriage with Natasha.
Bucky walked through the doors startling Steve, who was admiring how cute Charlie and Lexi looked all dressed up. He smiled towards his old pal, looking at the same time for an approval, and earning a simple nod. Bucky informed all of the boys that it was time to get everyone in position.
At that moment a knock echoed through the room. Then, Wanda's voice was heard.
Wanda: "Come out guys !"
Bucky: "We're all ready, don't worry."
All of the guests sat in the venue. Everyone except for the groomsmen, the bridesmaids, the flower girl, the ring barrier, the maid of honor and the best man sat in their assigned places.
Steve stood at the altar, looking forward, waiting for his bride. He was so excited to see her that it was hard for him to stay still. Tony, who had been asked to be the officiant, gave him a quick pat on the back before stepping behind the lectern to initiate the ceremony.
Tony: "Thank you all for coming, please be seated, we're about to start."
A beautiful song began playing, making all of the guests turn in their seats and watch as Lexi and Charlie walked side by side down the aisle. With a big smile on her face, looking as cute as ever, Lexi gently threw rose petals, matching the color of the single rose on her dad's vest. Charlie, with a proud look, elegantly held onto the white pillow in his hands, displaying the rings for every guest to see. Not long after, the bridesmaids walked down the same aisle, each of them by the arm of one of the groomsmen, taking their designated spots on each side of the altar, waiting for the grand finale.
Fury and Alexei stood, well dressed up, proudly on either side of Natasha. When the music switched to a very traditional one, announcing to all of the guests that the bride was about to walk down the aisle, everyone turned in their seats. After a big breath and an approving nod from both her father figures, Natasha began to walk towards the love of her life. As Steve looked up he was completely mesmerized, as he locked eyes with her a single tear escaped his eye, and when he saw her smile, he couldn't help but reciprocate, feeling overwhelmed with joy and happiness.
Both Fury and Alexei warned Steve not to hurt their daughter, and placed a kiss on either side of Natasha's cheeks before taking their seats. And as Tony began his speech, Steve reached out to hold both of Natasha's hands.
Tony: "We're reunited here today because we're scared of Natasha, and she would kill us if we weren't here. I'm kidding, I'm kidding …" *whispering but loud enough to be heard* "or am I ? We're gathered here today because Cap finally grew some balls and asked Natasha to marry him... So we're celebrating their disgustingly cute love. No seriously guys, you gotta stop that, especially you Steve, now I get in trouble with Pepper 'cause apparently I'm not romantic enough."
Pepper: *shouting from her seat* "You're not !"
Tony: "Ok... So, Avenger, friends, family, we are all here to witness the next step in their love and their relationship: marriage. These two lovebirds have decided to write their own vows, so Steve, if you will please."
Steve: "Natasha, my love, when I woke up after 70 years, I thought I had lost the love of my life, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I met you, and I liked you that same second. Later, I found out she was still alive, Peggy. I went to see her, I told her everything about you, and you don't know this but she told me she could see and hear how much I loved you. She knew, even before I did. It took me a while to admit to myself my feelings for you, and even longer to confess them to you, but as the world's authority in waiting too long, I knew, very early in our relationship, that I would marry you. I didn't know when, but I knew I wanted to and I knew I would make it happen. Back in the 40's I wanted love, and I wanted a family. But somehow, when I had your love, I didn't need anything else. Yet, you gave it to me. You gave me a family, you gave me two beautiful children, and I love the three of you more than anything in life. So today, I vow to cherish every moment with you, to protect you,and to stand by your side when you need me to. I vow to kiss away all the pain and to shut up when you're mad, 'til the day we die. I love you Natasha."
Tony: "How are you gonna top that Natasha ?"
Nat: "Steve, you gave me things I never thought I could have. First you gave me love. Not only your love, but taught me how to love myself. I thought very low of myself and you thought very highly of me. I thought I didn't deserve love, and you showed me and proved me wrong. You also gave me your love. You've cared for me, taken care of me and loved me in a way I never thought I deserved and in a way I never thought someone would. Then, you gave me hope and will. You gave me the hope of having something greater than myself. Hope that I wouldn't come back to an empty house or an empty bed. And you gave me will. The will to fight for you, fight for my life knowing I would be missed, knowing I had someone to come back to, and a place to call home. And finally, you gave me a family. Something, again, I thought I would never have. You gave me two children. I thought I knew that I could never have them. I thought, that, would never be a possibility for me and I thought that I had made peace with it, but they are truly the best thing I could ever have. And today I marry you, hoping that, 'til the day we die, I will be able to give all of that back to you, to show you how much I care for you, how much I love you, and how much our family means to me. I vow today to hold you when you cry, to support you when you need me, to take care of you. I vow to wake you up with kisses every morning and cuddle with you every night, 'til the day we die. I love you Steve."
Tony: *holding back tears* "Wow, that was something. Alright, I'm gonna ask that fine gentleman over there to bring the rings. You guys know how this works right ?"
Steve: "Yes."
Nat: *at the same time* "Yes."
Tony: "So, even though we already know the answers, 'cause we wouldn't be here otherwise I have to do this long ass part of the wedding so, ... Steven Grant Rogers, do you take Natasha Alianovna Romanoff to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and woe, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself solely unto her for as long as you both shall live ?"
Steve: "I do."
Tony: "And now, Natasha Alianovna Romanoff, do you take Steve Grant Rogers, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and woe, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself solely unto him for as long as you both shall live ?"
Nat: "I do."
Tony: "Please exchange rings as a sign of your love and faithfulness to each other, that may forever reside in your marriage. By the power vested in me by the internet, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride. But keep it PG, there are children in the room !"
As everyone laughed at Tony's joke, Steve gently cupped Natasha's cheek with one hand, while the other slipped around her waist, resting in the middle of her back, bringing her as close to him as possible. Natasha rested her hand on Steve's broad chest, grabbing gently the sides of his tuxedo for support. Steve slowly leaned in, as their lips locked into a slow, deep, and romantic kiss, pouring all of their love and emotions into it. Everyone clapped and shouted in excitement, yet, the world around them seemed to disappear, as Steve and Natasha got lost in the most passionate yet gentle kiss.
