Ussop contemplated on what his plan of action was. He decided to go back to the bench and search up cheap apartments on his phone. He sat and put the bag in his lap and took the phone out. Rascal stuck his head out to see what was going on.

"Don't worry I'm just finding us a place to stay." he said as he pet the creature's head.

He turned on his phone and typed "cheap apartments'

There was only one result that popped up. Though it was pretty sketchy.

Need a cheap place to stay? Well come to Mai Complex today!

This doesn't seem very trustworthy but what other choice do I have? I gotta take risks and I can't sleep on the bench.

He turned on the GPS and went in the direction of his potential home.

The building was very tall and paint job was old but it was fine. There were several windows and balconies on the building as well. Usopp guessed they were probably different apartments. It almost resembled a motel. There was one big brown door in the middle of it, the wood was rotted slightly but wasn't of huge concern.

There was a big sign on the roof that read Mai Complex. At least the GPS works.

Usopp sighed and entered the building.

It was as boring as it was on the outside.The halls were long and the carpeted floor was slightly sticky and the lights on the ceiling were flickering and the paint was chipped in some places.It was just so boring.

This place will have to do.It's not like I'm rich.

He walked down the hall in front of him and came across the main office .

He entered and took in the sight of red carpet and fresh white paint, nice leather chairs and the scent of lavender. This place was so unlike the rest of the complex.

A blonde looked up from her desk and smiled at him with grey eyes. She kind of reminded him of Kaya. Except she looked about 25 and her hair was in a bob.Plus she was tan.

"Hello! What can I help you with?" she asked smiling. Usopp smiled back."I saw the ad online for cheap apartments.I was wondering if I could get one. It's just me so do you have any singles?".

Her eyes sparkled and she brightened."You're just in luck! We've had many people come here, especially college students. We only have one apartment left and It's a single! The rent is 600 dollars a month!" Usopp lit up too."That's perfect! I'll take it! Wait what are the ammenities?"

"Things like gas,lights,electricity, and water are all included in the rent. We also have cable and wifi as well as laundry machines." she said.

"Wow that's great! It sounds too good to be true!" the women's look in her eye dimmed as well as her aura.Usopp sensed this and was about to ask what's wrong but she interrupted him.

"Look kid I like you so I'll give you a heads up. There is a man who comes here and collects taxes from the residents for the city.He is very... violent.Why do you think it's so cheap? We don't want to burden our residents so we give them lots of things. I advise you to always have at least $2000 on you at all times. He's random and unfair. Also...please dress modest at all times.For your sake."

Usopp raised an eyebrow at this." First of all why don't you report him. He must have a superior.Second,why do I need to dress modest at all times? Is this a school or something?" The woman's eyes turned serious."Look, I understand your frustration but there is a very big reason for what I have told you. We have tried to report him dozens of times but his father is the richest man in the city so we never get justice. Plus this is the poorer side of the city so no one pays us any mind. The reason for the clothes is that he can be pretty touchy feely if you know what I mean."

Usopp's eyes widened exponentially large. "You mean... he does that to people. And you still don't get justice? What kind of man is he? He is more like a monster!"

The woman sighed and looked at him directly. There was compassion igniting in her eyes. "Look. You obviously need a place to stay and this is your only shot since you came here. Here is the key,you're in 306 it's three doors down from here. We allow pets so your little friend there is fine. Come anytime you have a question, I haven't had a friend in a while and you seem nice."

Usopp sighed and took the key from the woman's hand. He wished he had the money to live anywhere else.But he didn't, and he figured as long as he followed this rules then he wouldn't have problems.

Besides it's not like I'm attractive so I'll only have to worry about potential violence.

"Okay. I'll stay. My name is Go D. Usopp and I'm new to town.Nice to meet you." He said.

The woman smiled warmly. "My name is Shinaru Rei. It's a pleasure to meet you Usopp."

They shook hands and Rei pet Rascal on his head He purred at the affection and the two laughed lightly at it.Usopp waved goodbye and exited the door and walked down the hall to his new apartment.
