Sorry for long notes. Also being late. My Beata readers computer was down got corrected earlier this month. Then after he got it fixed I got sick with covid and a little hard to focus properly.
It is primarily my fault for being late I will try to do better in the future. I do think I am trying to make some chapters contain to much so I will try to shorten them some to get them out quicker. Without loosing content.
Luffy1996: The canons are not siege canons but an artillery cannon similar to a smaller version of a (The 3-inch field gun M1902) designed in 1902 having a recoil mechanism to reduce the recoil. Also being a rifled breach loader shoots longer and more accurate. Yes more advanced but some places had higher technology and development and Martin traded all over and was a engineer at heart so I put 4 of them one each direction port, starboard, aft, and stern. Over regular canons a high improvement. Have not picked out exactly witch model so I say similar to.
I wish to discuss how I view haki in my story's. On conqueror's haki it said in description it can impose one's will on another. I took it at that as extreme intimidation along with making someone pass out.
Also in observation Luffy saw Mihawk cut his arms off because Mihawk thought it. Koby heard every person on the base during the battle to save Ace when he broke. Asia the little girl from skypiea heard people's (voice in her head) only having it quit when they were unconscious.
In my story's I take haki as like a psychic power listening to others if trained and strong enough one is able to read thoughts. Harmful or malicious thoughts to another are only transmitted stronger easier to read from people. Maybe that is taking the concept a little too far but in the Anime at times the way in skypiea the enemy knows exactly what move was about to happen, and everything involved, also the being able to call out the plan of action every time the opponent thought of one. In addition Asia, and Kody later talking about voices. Also it would explain how Doflamingo was so powerful and manipulative.
Very few will develop to that level. And it is not on always. Think of it as an extreme development or advanced form. Only the main people unfortunately flamingo is one. Also Katakuri seeing the future could be reading a person's next move like a person playing chess planning many moves in advance in their head.
I did add ways to block it after all Luffy hits Enel because of not thinking about it. Also Rayleigh on his 100 attempt to hit Luffy in the flashback said something about not sending out a signal of his intention so I figured it can be blocked or suppressed. Plus it needs a counter if anyone can have it. If some people don't like or agree then I am sorry to offend you but I think it fits.
Mystery889: I have known a lot of smart people who get emotional. He did cry because felt bad for letting his haki get out of control with his anger and having a person confront his world view. Maby to emotional, but it's an emotional show plus it was the first fiction i had just started writing so all well. Maturity is a work in progress. It will be explained better by an objective pov in this chapter, but I have a long plan for why I am keeping him naive.
Luffy1996: I did not consider that in my research all well. True it will put a hurt on him having a bounty maby, or Garp will sweep it under the rug in his investigation. He did say he was cutting all communication until his people get there, meaning people he can trust to report his way. Luffy barely used conquerors against two guards of Morgan's in one of the weakest blues who hated what Morgan made them do and praised Luffy for saving them, probably not wanting to get him in trouble. Too much maybe but I don't intend to rewrite it.
The elder stars know a lot of information about Mimics fruit from history that I haven't told you. If they find out the fruit has a host they will recall everyone from the new world and paradise to hunt him. Along with the four blues. They want the power of every devil fruit in existence in one person for only one of the stars to possess! Why would they want to try to control someone who eventually will grow to get to powerful to control or stop if allowed to live long enough. The stars know killing the last host did not work so they probably think capture then use genetic manipulation to rip the power out of Luffy and put it in all of the elder stars or if they must only one of them. Anything less Unexceptable! If absolutely necessary to prevent Luffy's growth then yes kill him only as a secondary option.
That is what Mimic is afraid of. It has been tried on her previous hosts of hers many times using devil fruit manipulation, some procedures almost succeeding in the goal.
Him being hunted she thinks of as kind of a challenge. Having the entire marine and secret marine stop everything and hunt her host trying to stop him before he gains a significant power base. Unacceptable in her mind or I should say Luffy's mind since she lives there. Lol. I thought people would figure that out by now. Sorry for the rant.

[Luffy's POV]
As we are pulling into port Nojiko comes up to me looking a little nervous as she clears her throat. "Captain I know I am new but can I make a request not just for me but Nami also?" This has got me curious for one in the little time I have known her. She comes off as the opposite of shy. Second something for both of them? "Nojiko, my crew are like family, especially you and Nami. Ask away." I answered as Nojiko relaxed asking me. "The tangerine farm was our mothers, and mine while Nami was treasure hunting. I can get some villagers to take care of it but can we make a place on the upper deck for some to carry with us?"
Before I could answer yes she continued. "It would keep Bell-mère close while providing us with valuable vitamin c." I smiled as I answered in a warm voice. "I already would have said yes the moment you said it was your mother's. We will get to work immediately. Just tell us what the trees require and oversee the transport.
Personally I don't want to take any chances on us making a mistake with precious cargo." For a second I think she might hug me as she wiped her eyes as she stood straighter she answered with resolve. "Aye aye captain." I smiled as she rushed off to find Usopp.
[Time skip ]
Most of the day was spent preparing the ship along with supplies and transportation of the trees. Nojiko oversaw all of it and surprisingly Nami was missing. I suppose it was because of saying goodbye to her mother at her grave, leaving her home putting it all to rest. Sanji was very enthusiastic in the preparation for Nami.
The party started back up and the men looked at me. Thinking we have 6 more days, one more will be OK. I look at the crew addressing them. "Ok one more you earned it. Also we may not get another party for a while." As everyone cheered Johnny and Yosaku walked up looking at them I asked. "So is this where we say goodbye now that your ship is back in the water? Or are you going to stay and see us off tomorrow?"
They look at one another as Johnny spoke up. "Actually neither if you will let us join your crew that is. We started bounty hunting to protect not only our village but others as well. Watching you and how you handle yourself well. We decided the place we can do the most good is with you." I smiled at them as I asked. "Got a dream?" Yosaku was the first to speak. "We decided to become the world's greatest sword fighting doow." I simply answer. "Welcome aboard."
With the party starting I see Nami talking with Sanji off to the side.
[Nobody's POV]
Nami takes Sanji to the side as he smiles and tries flirting. "So you want to pull me aside already? Can't wait till we are at sea?" Nami visibly shutters but not for the reason Sanji thinks.
Nami cleared her throat addressing Sanji. "Sanji I want to apologize concerning we are going to be crewmembers." Sanji looks confused as Nami continues. "I have spent my whole life deceiving men to get what I want, giving nothing back. I never felt I could truly be myself or feel safe with them. If someone knew me. Who I was. The lies I told I knew they would leave or kill me. Some have tried. I isolated myself to protect me and my sister only the two of us."
Sanji looks about to interrupt Nami. "Luffy got in. Not because of his looks or whit , but because he accepted me and gave me his love freely knowing everything even before I told him. I know you are going to say you can also. However for the first time I have someone in my life I value as much as my sister. I feel safe, warm, loved, and whole again. I hope you can understand how much that means to me and how I will never give it up. Him or my sister!"
For a long while nothing was spoken before Sanji cleared the air. "He means that much to you already?" Nami only nodded as he continued. "Does he feel the same?" Nami blushing answered. "Yes." Sanji looked down but smiled as he looked back up, addressing her again. "I still only know one way to treat a lady so I will continue to dote on you. He better treat you properly otherwise I will steal you away. But I will try to hold back on flirting and not pry. In truth you could do far worse he is strong and kind. A rare combination in this world. Also a little intimidating when mad."
Nami smiled before she spoke back a little nervously. "That might work in our favor." As Sanji looks confused Nami continued. "After Luffy opened up to me last knight we are both scared that if we openly show affection in public, and some other things get out. It will put a target on me as his girl." Sanji looks upset as he crosses his arms. "Sure he did."
Nami gets mad in his face Poking his chest almost yelling. "He has his secrets like everyone! I am sure you probably have something in your past too!" Sanji gets nervous for some reason as she continues. "His makes mine look minor and would paint a target on the people close to him. Neither of us want that so I will keep quiet about our relationship!"
Sanji recovered from his shock standing up for himself in a stern voice. "So you know his secrets." Nami looks nervous, backing up a little as she answers. "Yes. I believe he will tell everyone in time he is just scared. He thinks he has to carry everything alone. Also it is not my story to tell. I won't betray his trust!"
Sanji looks shocked for a while before relaxing and spoke in his chipper voice. "If you trust him I will too, and I will wait till he is reddy to tell us his secrets. Besides, I still owe him for saving the Baratie and taking me to the Grand line, and I like how he helps people." Nami came over and gave Sanji a hug telling him. "Thank you. I would hate to lose your cooking." Sanji laughed at that.
[Luffy's POV]
I am now shaking hands with Genzo as he addresed me. "You know I definitely believe you are a pirate rather than a hero now." I believe he is joking by his tone breaking through as I give him a puzzled look before he continues. "You are stealing away the two best treasures this island has. Good thing You are a good pirate according to Nami, and Nojiko."
I give a smile as I see Nami walking out of an alley with Sanji. Nami spotted me blushing before she talked with the merchant we saw earlier. I catch glances of her looking at me, and giving death glares at other young women looking my way. Driving them off with just a look.
Genzo gave me a pat on the back as he told me something. "I haven't seen her smile that big since Bell-mère was alive. That is more than enough to convince me you are good for her. Just keep her safe please." As he walks over giving Nami a hug whispering in her ear she tears up hugging him looking at me.
As the party continues I enjoy the food and festivities trying to sing. Everyone is happy Nojiko ends up much later coming up to me whispering. "Nami wants you to come over tonight for snuggling. She said she is too sore for anything else." She was snickering as she left. With the ship loaded, it getting late, and our new precious cargo safe I leave to find Nami.
At Nami's house after knocking and Nami calling me into the bedroom on the way I found a lot of chests in the house. I find Nami in a tee-shirt and underwear lying on her bed. As I take off my clothes getting into bed she cuddles up to me as she gets comfortable she spoke. "I want my last night here with you. Let Bell-mère know I got through it intact. She loved us so much, I hope she knows we are safe. I am sad Nojiko and I are leaving but I believe she is better coming with us also." Rubbing her back I tell Nami. "It is simple to Nojiko like Bell-mère family is what truly matters, you and her together." Nami snuggled closer to my chest as her pillow.
[Time skip]
[Luffy's POV]
We are at the dock with everyone present except Nami. Nojiko just walked up the ramp with a marine breech loaded long range rifle on her back. I walked up to the upper deck railing calling out down to the main deck. "Where did you get the rifle Nojiko?" She looked up answering. "I found it before Arlong raided the village. Wrapping it up and hid it in the foundation. I wanted to keep it to remember our mother it were hers. I will have to get Usopp to teach me to shoot though."
As the time draws near Usopp at the wheel Nojiko coming up to the back rail telling me. "It is time captain." The whole town present I tell my crew. "Set sail time to go." Everyone gets busy the ropes untied sails unfurl we start moving slowly the whole crowd who was looking around searching for someone now staring at us as Nami appeared at the hill behind them.
Before they noticed Nami darted into the crowd, weaving not in a straight line. People exclaimed as they got a glimpse of her. Frantically looking now we passed the edge of the dock. Nami broke through the front of the crowd in a straight line like a blur. She got to the edge kicking off a dock post and jumped to the deck landing on the rail before stepping onto the upper deck.
Turning around she pulled her shirt out letting over 2 dozen wallets fall to the ground laughing. As people are outraged yelling now I asked. "You sure they will get over you doing that?" Nami smiled her warmest smile as she answered. "I took a page out of your book. And left all the beli I have collected to save them in my home while telling Genzo that it was to distribute evenly with the townspeople. After all, I stole it for them anyway. This is spending money till our next haul."
As she waves back I tell her. "Good thing I have over 22 million beli stashed away from Krieg's treasure to divide out. And I believe you would make a great treasurer to handle finances with me. If you are willing to take on the additional responsibility that is." Nami gave a shocked look with beli signs in her eyes answering quickly. "Yes please!"
"Shishishi. We will discuss the distribution over lunch. And because it is our first distribution of treasure I am sure there will be questions. Also we will discuss a training schedule for everyone."
[Lunch later dining hall]
[Luffy's POV]
"OK everyone. I want to make some things clear. We may not always agree but I am captain. I will listen and consider what is brought to me but in the end responsibility and decisions will come to me. As far as treasure goes unless there is something particular you want it will be divided with 20% of the stash for maintaining the ship. Food, drinks, repair equipment, needed cooking equipment, and other necessities. 15% the captain, and the rest everyone on the crew. Except because I don't want the hassle and Nami is so good with money I asked her to be the treasurer so because of two positions she will get counted as two shares."
Usopp poked his chest out asking. "Do artists and snipers count as two positions?" Nami actually growled at him before answering for me. "Not unless you want to deal with everyone coming to you asking for this and that on a regular basis and the hassle of keeping this ship financially afloat it doesn't!" With a death glare and a come and get it look to everyone present promising pain. Nojiko was about to burst out laughing at the same time Sanji hit Usopp on the head.
Gin spoke next surprisingly. "That is more than I got working for Krieg. He was very stingy." Addressing everyone again I continued. "Because we have now formed I will divide the money from Krieg of 22 million beli." Everyone's mouth drops at that as I casually pressed on. 4.4 million to upkeep, 3.3 for me, 3,177,777 for Nami, and 1,588,888 for everyone else." As everyone is in shock I tell them the condition on finders. "If an item of interest comes up from the treasure Nami will deduct its value from your share. Also alcohol is on you." Getting a round of (awwww) from everyone. "Except special occasions." Hearing everyone cheered. I noticed a smile on Gins face.
I walked up to him as Nami talked to Nojiko and everyone conversed asking. "You ok?" He smiled and answered nodding to the rest of the crew. "This is what it should be like. A family. Krieg talked about sharing but if people didn't hide their personal property or not report new items they never got anything like you just gave them. You aren't in it for the treasurer are you?" As he looked at me I answered smiling. "Nope. Just to be The pirate king and free."
Nojiko came up to me looking nervous with Nami by her side to ask a question. "Captain, I don't deserve a share yet. I didn't join till yesterday morning long after Krieg was defeated. I will wait till next time."
Looking at Nami rolling her eyes I interject. "Too late already decided and delivered. Should have expected as much before joining. No take back, no return policy, you stuck with it." As she is blinking there dumbstruck. "But. But. What?" Shaking her head to clear the confusion away.
I placed my hands on her shoulders talking directly to her as Nami was snickering. "Nojiko. You are family, or Nakama now. Besides you will need supplies, clothes, and equipment for fighting on the grand line. Everyone will from the stories Gramps told me the weather will change dramatically daily from glacier cold to desert dry. Plus a gun may not be your primary weapon of choice. We need to find your strengths and weaknesses to know what to equip properly. Ok?" Nami wrapped her arm around her and with sass in her voice. "Told you!"
As Sanji places food on the table we all dig in. Laughing was heard all around, I noticed Sanji flirting but I felt it more relaxed not the tension like before with Nami. As desert came around I get there attention wanting to clear the air about something. "As some may have guessed Nami and I are together." To my surprise Sanji doesn't seem surprised, along with everyone else. "Break her heart I break you." Nojiko interjected as Sanji added. "I will help her." Everyone laughs and cares on as Zoro continues the merriment. "With what army." More laughter followed.
"Ok ok ha ha very funny. But seriously in towns we don't want the navy finding out. So." I said as Nami finished. "I will act as if he is just my captain I am very fond of. Not a boyfriend." Turning to me she looked worried as she asked. "If I started flirting with people or other pirates will it bother you Luffy?"
Even nervous I answer as I hear the fear in her voice. "I hope you won't share with them like you do me. If they take without permission." I let it hang looking angry as Nami jumped up then grabbed me giving me a hug then a kiss with tongue. "Never for me letting them share what we share, and without permission well an overprotective captain should take action anyway. Right? Hopefully you won't kill them but I won't hate you afterwards if you did." Giving me a wink.
My heart sang at this feeling better watching Zoro smirking. Nojiko is laughing behind her hand. I continue with the other topic. "Training will begin at 2. I will explain things then for everyone. There will be general haki development. Then personally and Individual training."
[Time skip]
[Luffy's POV]
On the lower deck the crew gathered. I walked over the crowd before speaking. "As I have explained to some, haki is not easy to learn. But in advanced stages it can be devastating. Even the simplest forms of haki observation in itself is difficult for an opponent to overcome. The intent to harm, your thoughts are not only broadcast throughout your body but around you without body language. With development and listening a person can hear any thought. unless blocked, not transmitted, or a person commits an action without thinking called a zen state. We only have two months before the grand line and while the other forms are very effective in battle one takes longer to learn armament, the other must be born with and is even harder to learn to control conquers."
While everyone is letting this sink in I pick up some blindfolds and a sticks like a long read. Passing them out I paired them up. Nami with Nojiko, Usopp with Gin, Johnny with Yosaku, and Zoro with Usopp. I explain the rules. " for thirty minutes 5 times a week in the morning one person will try to hit the blindfolded person then switch who has the blindfold. You are to think where you want to hit a few seconds plan your move then strike. It will be a different place each time. As the blindfold person you can dodge if you believe you are about to be hit. Actually it is encouraged to do so. Johnny and Yosaku will always be paired you need to learn to read your partner especially working as one fighting unit. Nami and Nojiko will also be partners so Sanji will hopefully not atack somebody for hitting you." "Hay!" Sanji exclaimed, then grumbling. "I am getting better." Feeling insulted as I continue. "The others will alternate partners every day so you will not get used to their patterns."
With everybody beginning I supervise watching as they go about their assignment. Making sure people do not either hit too hard or too slow. As they switched I watched again not expecting much. Nami dodging a few times when Nojiko was upwind noticing the wind shifting I suppose.
After the appropriate time I tell some of their individual assignments. "Johnny and Yosaku will fight Zoro together. Coordinate attacks with just ether simple gesturing no words at all. After 44 minutes we will switch to Zoro's special work. For your part Zoro right now focus on defense little offense."
As they get busy I turned to Nami. "We will get on a dinghy and practice as before after I work Usopp. After 45 minutes we will break. Listen to the sea." "Only if you defend my treasure!" Nami smirked. It took me a while to understand as most of the people watching laughed at me till suddenly I turned very red.
"Usopp I want to work on your aim." I anounce as Usopp looked puzzled, then speaking up in defense. "What is wrong with my aim?" I motioned for him to follow me as we went to the upper deck getting near the back. I put him on the starboard side handing him a pouch of lead pellets. While I am going to the port side as I tell him. "Face me and shoot through my fingers." Holding my left hand in an O. He easily shoots through it with my right catching the shot as I added conditions. "Now Spin one full time and shoot again." "Again Faster. After 5 times alternate directions for next five then switch again." As he does it three more times. Without a problem I continue to add complications. "Now before you Spin close your eyes and keep them closed until after the shot." This time when he opened his eyes my hand was stretched 4 ft out to my right off the back of the ship holding the pellet. "Heh heh oops." He commented as I smiled, giving him the news while slowly putting the pellet into a red bag instead of the blue one. "After you only miss three out of your whole bag you will start doing two rotations. (Gulp.) Then after you can do that I start moving it 2 inches in any random direction while you spin to work your observation through your skills similar to how I combine Namis. (Gulp) good luck." After 45 minutes. We break.
Going back to Zoro and the brothers Zoro looking fine while they look winded telling them. "After a 45 minute break for them to get your strength back we will start Zoro's training." Watching them nod. I got Nami and we practiced as before. She hit me a few times feeling either the shift of weight of the boat or the wind shifting around me.
I returned after Nami's training with a gym bag from below to a rested Johnny, Yosaku, and Zoro as Zoro asked. "Ok how are you going to train me when you don't know swords?" A smirk at his boldness as I addressed the issue. "Simply put, your problem I can see is you rely too much on strength. Not to say your form is not great, but you could do more and conserve energy better with more Redirected momentum. So." I struck several pressure points along his torso as I told him what I did. "For the next hour or so every time you try to use over 35% of your overall strength you will feel great pain." At his shocked expression I continued. "Your lucky Red had hit three more bringing me down between 10 to 15% strength depending on how hard she hit the points. Plus incapacitating pain instead of just agonizing pain with the extra three points. Ok you two go easy one at a time don't tire yourselves out. His strength is muted but his endurance is still high so take turns he needs to work on Redirected energy. Stop in 45 minutes. later." (Luffy!!) As Zoro screams in anger as I walk off I also hear. (Clang.)(Aaaaah!) "To much force not enough redirection." (Clang, clang, clang.) (Aaaaah!)
I grabbed Sanji telling him he was next, as he protested. "I wanted to see him struggle. Let me watch it's fun. Please." As I dragged him along Nami and Nojiko were snickering at him. I set the bag down, addressing him directly. "This will be a joint practice. I will keep haki on my arms and legs the whole 45 minutes for endurance while you attack me. However you for your workout will be wearing these." As I hand him the sturdy sagging gym bag he takes it. When I let the handle go it almost hit the ground, but he caught it.
Opening up he sees a pile of plates, leggings with a lot of pockets and straps, and shoes with metal plates on top padding underneath. Looking around me shocked he comments. "I can't kick well with all this weight on me. It will slow me down and wear me out. Where did you find it anyway?"
I smiled, commenting back. "I had a similar pair back in my training from red except it went all over my body. Plus I had to maintain haki on myself and the outfit at all times otherwise I would get hit with her haki covered blows. And I thought Gramps was a tough teacher. Shishishi. Anyway, yesterday morning I met a lovely young lady, a taylor's daughter who volunteered to make it for free after I told her what I wanted and who it was for. I didn't even have to give her your measurements. She said she already has them memorized and she will make sure to add extra room in the crotch area to accommodate for you." Sanji looks shocked then he gets a glazed over look. "Jennifer." Shaking his head to clear it.
I smiled watching him put it on along with attaching the plated armor. When he had them on completely I informed him of my plans. "Today will just be a warm up tomorrow we will get heavier into sparring. I know you and Zoro are developing tension and any powerful people will so neither can belittle the other. I plan on training you at the same time. My Gramps and Red also believe in tough love and training so I won't go easy." As he finished stretching trying a few kicks to get used to the weight he told me in a cocky voice. " in a week or so I will get used to this weight then you will get it." "Shishishi. Oh Sanji. Don't worry I have two more sets of thicker plates for when these get light, and the pockets are for adding weight from the previous plates. By the time we get to loguetown I will get heavier to make sure it never feels too light for you. By the end of my training Red had me working for 4 hours straight with enough weight to equal 400 pounds while also hitting pressure points. You'll be fine." I tell him while getting into a fighting stance covering my arms in a little haki. "Begin!"
Sanji had a hard time keeping up with me during our fight. I assume it was because of the weight on his legs, however he was grateful for the padding and plates protecting his legs. Otherwise hitting my haki covered arms and legs would hurt a lot. Now it is Gin's turn with Sanji going to prepare for supper as I tell Nojiko. "I want to work with you after supper and talk before to get a feel for your skills because I haven't watched you fight before." Nojiko nodded and asked Sanji a question. "Can I help with dinner?" Sanji looks like he won the lottery as he answers. "Sure Nojiko swan!" I see Nojiko shake her head as she follows him down the stairs as he is straining to carry his new bag.
Gin looks at me skeptically as we go to the rear deck behind the trees. We space off as he questioned. "So what training you got for me? Something like Zoro?" I smiled while answering him. "No you are OK with that. Your true strength comes from speed, timing, and centrifugal motion. The most important thing you have to contend with is your timing. On the grand line people will either go faster than what you are used to interrupting the atack, slow down to make you miss, or just power through because of a devil fruit or haki. So I have decided to train you on misdirection and alteration. We will fight for 45 minutes during which you will go all out. After you commit to your attack I will anticipate your point of impact without observation haki. I will only coat a 2 inch radius from the impact point. You have to redirect the location or make a second attack to land at the same time as the first. I can defend but not use haki on more than one location. Don't worry I don't intend to cripple." Gin actually gets a manic smile much like Nami with beli as we begin.
[Nobody's POV]
As Nojiko is cutting some vegetables while Sanji is preparing a large pot she spoke. "My sister wanted me to clear the air a bit so you won't get the wrong idea like you did her." As Sanji looks over concerned as she continued. "I like flirting like our mother did because she liked to keep people off-balance. However other than Nami I haven't let anyone ever get close to me and that will not change for a while. Old habits and such."
Sanji looks red faced as he asks a question on his mind. "So you and Nami are that kind of close?" Nojiko blushing answered quickly. "No! I mean no we are not that kind of close. Or have not gone there. She's the only person I kept close to my heart. The only person I let myself love in any way possible. It is just difficult for both of us make ourselves vulnerable because Arlong would use it to torture or control us. It is a miracle Luffy even got in at all.
