Chapter 15.2: Sora's Chain Of Memories Part 2

After The group fixed Sora's first memory, they shared their thoughts.
Gus: Sora sure had great friends back at his home.
Willow: I wonder how often he misses them.
Amity: Certainly a lot.
Eda lowers her head.
Eda: *thinking* Darn it. I wanna see this kid smile again.
Luz turns to the others.
Luz: Let's fix the rest of the memories, fast.
Eda, Amity, Willow, and Gus nod in unison, and the five go to the next memory frame to fix. As they approached the memory frame, they seemed shocked at its image.
Amity: What the...
Willow: A giant vortex right above the island?
Gus: Is it some sort of magical event?
Luz and Eda looked at the memory frame and then at each other.
Luz: Eda.
Eda: Yeah, if we remember correctly, we should know how to fix this one easily.
Naminé walks towards the two.
Naminé: Before you enter-
Eda: What is it?
Naminé: Although you have experience in repairing memories thus far-
The rest of the group gathered around Naminé.
Eda: Out with it.
Naminé nods.
Naminé: I must warn you. Unlike the previous memory, interacting with this one and future ones will be different and difficult.
Luz: Meaning...?
Naminé: You will have to prepare yourselves for combat.
Luz: Combat? What do you mean?
Naminé: You'll see when you enter the memory.
Luz and Eda's faces slightly turned stern, knowing very likely what type of dangers could lurk in Sora's memories. Willow and Gus grew slightly fearful as they started to connect the dots on what they could be fighting against. On the other hand, Amity was confused about what she and the others could be thinking about fighting but wasn't that worried as she was confident in her abilities. Finally, Luz and Eda turned to the others.
Luz: You guys ready?
The rest nodded in agreement and entered the memory frame.

[Cut to Destiny Islands]
[Play Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep - The Silent Forest - Extended]
As they appeared from the other side, the group became truly horrified at what they saw. Not only was the island destroyed, save for one large landmass, but the sky is also completely pitch black with clouds, with a giant vortex floating in the sky.
Gus: And I thought it looked ruined before, but this?!
Willow: I'm... starting to get freaked out.
Amity: To think it looked beautiful on the last memory and now this...
Eda: Freaky.
Luz: *shudders* Yeah. Naminé! What do we do?
Naminé: In front of you!

[Play 04 Kingdom Hearts 1 OST "Grand Fight"]
The group looked in front of them and was even more horrified. A Darkside spawns out of thin air, and it looms over the group while proceeding to spawn heartless by creating a dark vortex from its right fist. Amity paled and screamed from the tip of her lungs.
Amity: WHAT IS THAT GIANT?! AND WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS?!
Everyone but Amity: Darkside AND Heartless!
Amity: Wh-what?!
Eda: Monsters of Darkness that Sora has fought for a long time!
Willow: They consume the hearts of other beings!
Gus: And turn their victims into one of their own!
Luz: Remember back at The Knee? When the slitherbeast turned dark and purple? That was a heartless taking it over! These guys in front of us are what they really look like!
Amity: No way!
Naminé: The Darkside and the Heartless are the nexus of this memory. You must defeat them to repair it.
Amity/Willow/Gus: Are you kidding me?!
Eda readies herself in a stance as Luz brings out her glyph cards.
Eda: Luz! You and I will handle the Darkside, but stay close! The rest of you, handle the little imps!
The three were a bit hesitant, but they remember why they were there in the first place. To help Sora since he's done so much for them. The three then gained their focus and got ready to fight.
Amity: *cracking knuckles* I'm ready! *thinking* If Sora and the others can take them, then so can I!
Willow: *summons thorned vines* I am too!
Gus stammers a bit but slaps his face with both hands simultaneously and summons a light blue humanoid illusion construct. The construct assumes a fighting stance.
Gus: I'm not afraid this time! I'm ready too!
The group gets ready to fight as the Darkside begins charging up dark spheres from its chest and launches them at Eda and Luz. The two managed to block them all successfully by Eda deflecting them by casting wind gusts and Luz using her ice glyphs to create small walls to stop them. Meanwhile, Amity, Willow, and Gus deal with the Heartless with their magic. Amity summoned an Abomination to slap a couple of the Heartless away, Willow uses her thorned vines to pierce through them, and Gus commands his illusion construct to punch and kick the Heartless away. Eda and Luz assumed their fighting stances in front of the Darkside as they dealt with their fight.
Eda: Luz, remember, We gotta take out the Darkside by taking out its hands!
Luz: Right!
Luz turns to the others.
Luz: Guys! Keep dealing with the Heartless just a little bit longer!
Amity/Willow/Gus: Right!
Eda traces a spell circle at the Darkside's right hand and unleashes a beam of light, while Luz activates two fire glyphs cards from both hands, combines them both to create a larger fireball, and throws at the Darkside's left hand, successfully dealing damage.
Luz: Alright! I actually did it this time!
Eda: Great, kid! But keep your focus!
As Eda and Luz keep dealing with the Darkside, Amity, Willow, and Gus finish the remaining Heartless and run towards them from behind.
Amity: The last of the Heartless are gone!
Luz: Alright! Let's finish this thing off!
The team ready their attacks for the Darkside. Seeing it stumbling over a bit, they realize that this is the last round. The Darkside raises its hands, readying to slam them down on the group. But it was too late as the team combined their attacks to deliver the final blow. Firstly, Eda traces a large spell circle.
Eda: Here we go!
Eda then blasts the Darkside with a beam of light. Luz launches another large fireball from two fire glyphs, Amity commands her abomination to launch itself, Willow aims her thorned vines to pierce, and Gus's illusion construct rushes at the Darkside by throwing a dynamic punch. After that heavy blow, the defeated Darkside emits a bright white light that engulfs everyone. As the light subsided, the group found themselves back at Sora's Dive to the Heart and looked around for a bit.

Eda: Did we do it?
Luz: I think so.
Naminé steps toward the group.
Naminé: Yes. The memory is fixed.
Amity: Alright. Well, let's watch this play out.
The rest nodded in agreement and gathered around the memory frame to watch play out. They see a Sora in a bedroom, not exactly in neat order.
Eda: Yeesh. The kid lived like a slob.
Luz: *thinking while smiling* Almost like my room back home.
While lying on his bed, Sora looks at a toy ship with two figurines stringed from the ceiling then through the window. Then, he notices a storm over the island where the raft is. Suddenly realizing that the raft might be in danger due to the storm, Young Sora jumps out the window and makes his way towards the island.
Gus: What the heck? Not a safe thing to do, going out during a storm.
After making his way towards the island, he notices two boats which he states them belonging to Riku and Luz. Young Sora then turned his head front and noticed the Heartless spawning, which surprised him.
Luz: Heartless!
Sora looked down, noticing the wooden sword he used for training. He grabs and enters his fighting stance, hoping to defend himself against the creatures he knew nothing about at the time.
Willow: Oh no.
Sora fought his way through the Heartless, despite his best efforts. He couldn't destroy them. All he was able to do was knock them away from him. The group watching this had noticed with concern.
Amity: It looks like only magic can destroy the Heartless. Anything else is useless.
The rest agree with slight worry as they watch the memory play out. They see that Sora made his way to Riku, where the Paopu fruit tree is. He asked Riku where Luz was, only for Riku to respond by saying that the door to the outside world is finally open and that Luz was going with them, which surprises Sora and everyone else watching the memory playing out. Riku continues to say that once they step through, the three might not be able to return home or see their parents ever again, which causes everyone to flinch, especially Luz. Finally, Riku finishes his words by saying this is the only chance they have and isn't afraid of the darkness, which causes them to widen their eyes with shocks and confusion.
Amity: Um, is he nuts? They're on the island in the middle, with a storm and a dark sphere floating in place above them, and he spouts on about world traveling?!
The others were unsure how to respond to that, but they continued watching the memory. First, it shows that Riku extending his hand to Sora. Then, Sora notices darkness spiraling from under them, frightening everyone else.
Luz: No, no, no, no. Please tell me that's not how it's going to end!
They continue to watch as Sora, hesitant at first, reaches out to Riku's hand as the darkness engulfs them both. All but Naminé gasped. But suddenly, as Sora was about to see nothing but darkness, a bright light shined in front of him, causing the darkness to disappear, along with Riku and Sora to trip forward a bit. Sora then notices something in his right hand. A key-shaped sword, that being the Keyblade. This surprises the group.
Luz: So, that's how he got the Keyblade. It saved him from the darkness!
Eda: And just in time, from the look of it
They continue to watch as they see that Sora entered through the secret cave to see Luz. She looked dazed as she turned around, and that's when the door in the cave suddenly flew open and shot out a gust of dark winds, shooting Luz towards Sora. Sora tried to catch her, but as soon as he did, she disappeared instantly, shocking everyone.
Luz: Where'd I- I mean Kairi go?!
Eda: Same place as that Riku kid, I imagine, another world.
Luz: *shuddering* Ok, that's really freaky.
The rest agreed with that statement as they continued to watch the memory. Then, they see Sora blown out of the cave and landing on the small platform; the island remains where the others were earlier.
Amity: This must be-
Luz: The fight we had with the Darkside and the Heartless.
Their guess was correct as they saw Sora stand up to see the Darkside with shock. Standing his ground, Sora summoned his Keyblade and fought the Darkside and Heartless with every ounce of strength he had, using the same method as the group did earlier. After delivering the final blow, the Darkside suddenly stopped and was being sucked into the dark vortex in the sky. Sora did his best to hold on as he clung to a piece of board buried into the sand but was unfortunately sucked into the dark vortex as he couldn't muster any more strength. He screamed as he was sucked in, fading into the darkness. That's where the memory ends. After watching all that play out, the groups shared their disbelief.
Gus: Oh my Titan...
Willow: Was he ok? I mean, did he land somewhere safe?
Amity: I can't believe he had to fight those creatures and that giant all on his own, especially when he had JUST acquired that weapon of his.
As the three continued to discuss, Eda and Luz shared a look with concern.
Luz: His friends... they just disappeared right in front of him.
Eda: I hear ya, kid. Heavy stuff.
The two then suddenly remembered the story Sora told them.
[Flashback of Sora telling his story to Eda, Luz, and King]
[Sora: I went out and saw a dark vortex in the sky and freaked out for my friends. I went to look for them and saw Riku; he was spouting out how this could be our only chance to visit other worlds. But he disappeared in a dark portal in front of me. I went to look for Kairi, but she also disappeared in front of me. As if that weren't enough, a giant heartless showed up. It was at that moment that I first summoned the Keyblade. I tried to save my world by fighting it, but it was too late. I ended up being sucked through a dark portal through the sky.]
Luz and Eda lowered their heads and sighed. They then raised their heads and turned to the others.
Eda: Alright, you three! Let's go! More memories to fix!
Luz winced at Riku's statement as the others gathered around the next memory frame. Saying that they might not see their parents again got her thinking about her mom, wondering if she was ok and when will they reunite. She then wonders about Sora's parents. Were they scared when he disappeared into other worlds? Were they ok when the darkness swallowed their world? Did they see each other at all? Luz then wondered if she should ask Sora about his family but snapped out of it when Eda tapped her shoulder.
Eda: Kid, you ok?
Luz looks at Eda.
Luz: Yeah. I... I'm fine. Next memory, right?
Eda: ...Right. let's go.
The group gathered at the next memory frame as they and Naminé looked at one another, nodding. The group turned to the memory and got a closer look at it, and it looked like a town of sorts. They entered the memory frame and did appear in a town under the night sky with beautiful lights hung everywhere. Or at least it's what they imagined if it weren't colorless like the previous memories.
Gus: Woah.
Willow: This place does look nice... or it will when we fix it.
Amity: So, what do we do here?
Luz and Eda remained silent for a bit. But, thanks to Sora's story, they have a good guess on what to do next.
