"I'm sorry, who are you?" Ash asked confused
"I'm not from your universe, but for a bit, I was the undisputed champion of Kanto and Johto. But enough about me! I need to get you to safety; your friends will be fine! Dialga and Palkia will leave them alone the moment we leave."
"We?" questioned Ash.
"Well, let's just say that I don't work alone. Anyhow, we need to escape asap! Typhloshion can buy us a few minutes at most," Ethan said
"Why should I trust you?" Ash asked
Ethan just looked at Ash and sighed, "Ash, come on. Do or die here. You've heard what they were saying. What's it going to be,"
Just then, Palkia unleashed a full force hydro pump that sent Diantha's Gardevoir through the ground in the arena. Ash cursed to himself, this really was serious, and his friends wouldn't hold on much longer.
Ash nodded and made up his mind, "Okay, just let me say goodbye to Serena,"
Ethan nodded, "Alright, don't go too far,"
Ethan called out a massive Tyranitar who roared, and launched a massive hyper beam that had the width of a bus towards Palkia, slamming into the god and getting its attention.
Ash sprinted towards Serena, who was still commanding Braixen, although Braixen wasn't really keeping up with the battle at this point
Ash approached her, concern evident on his face, "Serena, hey, something's happened, this whole situation has changed now,"
Serena looked at Ash worried, "What is it Ash?"
Ash ducked underneath a hydro pump and spoke to Serena, "I need to go. You see the new guy who just showed up? He's gonna help me escape. This whole thing, it's my fault. And I can stop it, Serena, I need to go. I'm sorry"
"When will you be back?" Serena asked worried
"I can't say," Ash sighed
"Oh…well…. Please come back Ash…" Serena sadly said
Serena swore she saw a tear in Ash's eye, "I won't lose you again Serena. I promise I'll return to you,"
She lightly punched his arm while holding back tears, "You better!"
Ash pulled her into a hug and kissed her as tears filled his eyes. "This time I'm leaving with the kiss." Ash said as he pulled away
Serena watched sadly as Ash turned and sprinted towards Ethan who snapped his fingers, and a purple portal opened. "No time to explain Ash, we need to go now!"
Just as Ethan shouted, Dialga slammed into Alain's Charizard, causing his mega evolution to revert.
Ash gulped, and jumped in the portal, giving Serena and Kalos one last wave.
Serena waved, "See you soon Ash…."
Everything went black
Ash woke up, dizzy.
He was in a room that smelled faintly of….. Pine trees? That reminded him of Pallet Town.
He rolled out of an oddly comfortable bed, and opened a door. A man with green hair was outside waiting for him.
Ash was shocked, "N?"
The man nodded, "Yes, but you've never met me before. Come, we'll talk on the way."
"What do you mean I've never met you. I traveled with you for a bit!"
"Maybe in your universe, but not mine. Where I come from, things are….different."
"What do you mean?"
"Does it matter? N questioned
Ash shook his head, "I guess not,"
N led him down an empty hallway and into a meeting room with a long table.
There were ten chairs, most of them filled. There was noticeably an empty seat near the head of the table. The front chair was also empty.
N cleared his throat, "Due to the absence of one of our members, his counterpart will be taking his place temporarily for this meeting."
Ash looked down the table confused, he recognized most of these people…. But if they were like what N said, different versions, they may as well be strangers.
N motioned towards the chair, and Ash sat down awkwardly and gave a small wave.
"Ash, I'd like you to meet the members of this organization."
N pointed at "This is Gold, you met him earlier." Gold nodded and gave a wave
N motioned towards a girl with a beanie on, "This is Lucas. He's the former champion of Sinnoh"
"Hey Ash," Lucas said as if he knew Ash
"And this is May, but she's like me. You've never met her. She's also the former champion of Hoenn."
"Hi Ash!" May said with a smile
"That girl over there is named Selene. She's the former Alolan champion."
Selene waved at Ash
"That guy sitting next to Selene is her boyfriend, Nate, former champion of Unova."
Nate just nodded at him
"Why is everyone a former champion?" Ash inquired
N looked taken aback by the question, "Oh, well. In order to join us, you're required to fake your own death."
N pointed towards a seat where a young man sat. "This is Calem, former champion of Kalos,"
This young man is unfairly vilified in fics so Amourshipping can exist/serve as a love rival to Ash.
"Hey Ash, pleased to meet you!" Calem said with a smile
"And finally, the young lady leaning back in her chair is named Zinnia. She may not have been a champion, but she sure could have been one if she wanted to."
"Hello," Zinnia said bored
"And that should cover it!" N said
"So what exactly is this? No one has told me!" Ash said confused
"Allow me to explain." A calm voice said from the entrance of the group.
The room went dead silent and a man walked up to the head of the table.
The man sat down at a chair at the head of the table, "Welcome Ash. My name is Red. And I'm the strongest pokemon trainer of all time."
Gold muttered to himself, "That can be debated,"
Red shot him a look and Gold stiffened
The man continued, "I'm the leader of an organization called the timeless. Essentially, we're a collective group of strong trainers that I've hand picked. As for what we do? We solve problems, rogue time travelers, evil counterparts and whatever other issues we deem worthy of our attention."
"Oh…and I'm assuming my whole situation is a problem?"
Red nodded. "Exactly. We don't know why you've been sent back, we don't know why you're being hunted by Dialga and Palkia. But you'll be safe here. However, your counterpart who normally sits where you are is currently out in the field."
Ash seemed shocked, "Wait, I'm a member of the timeless?"
Red corrected Ash, "You aren't. Adult you from an alternate universe is."
Ash shrugged, "Oh….well still, that's cool."
Red sighed, "Look Ash, I can't really risk hurting you, but I need answers. Which is why I'm ordering an assignment. Lucas, May. You're with Ash. I want you guys to travel back as soon as possible to fetch Ash's counterpart competing in the world coronation series."
May nodded, and Lucas gave a thumbs up.
Red gave his orders, "As for Nate and Selene, I want you guys to investigate some rumors that my networks have pulled. Supposedly a champion has been acting strangely and has ties to several criminal organizations. Get me some answers."
Red addressed everyone else, "As for the rest of you, business as usual."
The man stood up, and walked calmly out of the room.
When the door closed, everyone calmly stood up.
May and Lucas walked towards Ash.
Lucas asked, "Hey Ash, ummm you ready to leave within five minutes or so?"
"I mean not like I have any luggage," Ash said with a shrug
"We'll make sure your room is equipped appropriately when you return," May said
"Great," Ash said, assuming the room he woke up in was his own
Lucas offered Ash a hand, "I know you've met May's counterpart, but umm I'm Lucas."
Ash shook Lucas's hand. "Nice to meet you."
May smiled at him, "I know we've sorta met, but it's always a pleasure Ash. Your adult counterpart is a huge mentor of mine."
"To be fair, he's sorta a mentor to all of us." Lucas countered
Both trainers smiled, "Well Ash, let's get out of here."
May pulled the cork on a small bottle, and a portal opened.
"It gets easier over time," Lucas assured Ash as he walked through it

Meanwhile, in the Torren Region:
Beneath the Jade tower, a man in a trench coat worked tirelessly on his project. The project of achieving perfection. He was reviewing some data, when he heard a door click open in a nearby room.
But the man wasn't worried. An intruder just may prove the entertainment he so desperately lacked recently.
There was a knock at his door. The man stood up, and opened it, not remotely fearing the uninvited guest.
"Hello Reukra." a man said calmly as he walked into the office
"Who are you," Reukra said as he stood up
"Name's Cyrus."
Reukra glared at him, "Is that supposed to ring a bell?"
Cyrus sighed, "If you'd let me finish, I can explain. I know who you are, I know what you want. I know you're seeking a perfect pokemon to achieve strength. I also know you've failed over and over again. And I can offer help. You see, I'm remaking the world to match my image, and I need some help to overthrow the current regime…..and I think you can help."
"Why me?" questioned Reukra
Cyrus shrugged, "Simple. You're a genius. And a powerful one at that, I think we may work well together."
"What makes you think I'll accept?" Reukra said defensively
"Because you're sick of hitting dead ends. And I'm the best hope you have of achieving perfection. If I'm remaking the world, you can help me." Cyrus said
Reukra paused for a moment. "Fine, but know that I'm doing this of my own accord. Also, if I'm doing this it'll be a package deal. I have a new co-worker, one that I have a complicated past with, but one who I think can provide for the strength of the group. She's one of the strongest trainers I've ever encountered, and until recently, she was stronger than me. She also was chosen by the legendary pokemon Mew, but that also changed,"
Cyrus questioned, "Well what changed?"
Reukra smirked, "Let's just say….she came to a few realizations,"
Reukra pressed a button on his desk, and a few moments later a girl with pink hair walked in, looking tired.
The girl muttered to herself, "This better be good, I just fell asleep and…. Oh hello there."
Cyrus waved at her
"Cyrus, I'd like you to meet Remi. Remi, I'd like you to meet Cyrus. We'll be associates of his from now on," Reukra said calmly
"And you woke me up to announce this?" Remi said grumpily
Reukra shrugged, "Get some rest Remi. We can talk tomorrow."
Remi walked off, looking rather enraged that she was woken up at this unholy hour just so she could meet some new creep.
Reukra motioned for Cyrus to sit down while he looked through a cabinet in his office.
"How's some whiskey sound?" Reukra suggested
Cyrus shook his head, "I don't partake."
Reukra shrugged and poured himself a glass.
"Look Cyrus, here's the thing. You're right, I'm desperate. But we need to establish trust. So let's make a deal. I do one favor for you, and you do me a favor."
"What's your favor?"
"A pokemon recently escaped from my lab. A Mewtwo clone to be precise, a dark and psychic typed beast. One which if mega evolved could-"
Cyrus palmed a master ball out of his pocket, and Reukra's eyes immediately widened.
"I do my homework, Reukra." Cyrus said as he gave Reukra the poke ball.
Reukra nodded for a moment before taking a sip of his whiskey, "Now what do you want me to do Cyrus?"
Cyrus smiled, "Oh I'm a simple man. I want you to bring me Ash Ketchum's head."
"Deal," Reukra said
"I'm glad we can come to an agreement," Cyrus said
Reukra took another sip before offering a hand. "Here's to new allies"
Cyrus shook his hand. "Here's to new allies."
