Chapter Eleven
Fatal Battle
While Mineta was making his way over to where Lily and Todoroki were, a mountain of ice erupted from where they were followed by the sounds of metal clashing with ice. From the tower of ice, Lily and Todoroki could be seen fighting each other. The sound of metal and ice echoed throughout the area they were in as Lily brought her sword down upon Todoroki who in turn blocked it with a metal pipe covered in ice. The two combatants were clashing head-on with each other as Lily was gaining the upper hand in the fight by pushing the young boy back with her hard striking attacks. The moment Todoroki ducked underneath a strike to his head, the blade cut through the wall of ice and caused multiple cracks to appear on the wall and floor. A chunk of the ice attached to the tower slowly broke off and slid behind her.
The moment she saw this, her sword gave off a sickly purplish-dark color. She quickly dragged her sword against the ground along with delivering a slashing strike to the chunk of ice behind her. Once she left a mark on the ice, it gave off the same glow as her sword along with the sound of something was about to explode. Todoroki's eyes widened upon seeing this and was trying to escape, but couldn't as he was caught up in the explosion, and sent flying off along with Lily. The moment she was in the air, Lily looked around to see where Todoroki was as she noticed that he landed on a piece of ice that was falling in the air.
"You're not going to get away from me, rich boy!" She yelled after landing on a cliff made out of ice. She soon brought her sword up and fired off a crescent beam-like blade. The beam blade cut through multiple falling objects as Todoroki brought up a wall of ice to protect himself from the attack as it created an explosion upon impact. Upon seeing the dust cloud caused by the explosion, she placed the tip of her sword into the ice she was standing on as she watched carefully. "Is that the best you got Todoroki! Is this all you can do as the offspring of Endeavor's son!? You disappoint me, boy! You can't win with that half-ass you called ice!"
Just as she said that another pillar of ice shot out of the dust cloud as Lily brought her sword up and quickly jumped into the air. The moment she was in the air, she soon noticed more ice pillars coming at her. Only this time they were coming at her in different directions. The pseudo servant quickly ducks underneath the first attack and uses it as a means to avoid the other attacks and slide down it with the help of her flight quirk and charges at Todoroki. The young man took notice of this as he was about to use more ice to attack her, but was soon sent flying backward from the force of her sword being thrown at him, pummeled first. As he was descending towards the ground, he noticed Lily charging at him with her fist brought back as she was getting ready to punch him. Todoroki quickly recovered from Lily's attack as he pulled his hand up and caught her punch. The moment his hand made contact with her fist, he soon coated her entire arm in ice.
"Did you forget that I can use my ice at close range?" He asked as the ice stopped upon reaching her shoulder. "If you don't want to lose your arm, then I suggest you surrender now before-" Before Todoroki could finish, Lily quickly sucker-punched him in the face with her other hand, and kicked him down towards a pile of what she could guess was soft materials. She soon used her quirk to lessen the speed of her fall as she closed her eyes to brace herself for the fall. There was a loud squishy noise upon Lily crashing onto the ground. Lily soon opens her eyes as she finds herself on a bed of purple balls.
"Looks like I owe you big time, Mineta." She said before trying to pull herself up, but due to how Mineta's balls were, they pretty much prevented her from moving as much. Though she was able to move her head to the side to see Mineta staggering over to her with his head bleeding.
"Aw, dude. What happened to you?" Lily asked as Mineta walked over to the pseudo servant and collapsed onto her with his small body resting on her abdomen.
"I…I won. I took down Shoji." He said before pulling his head up a bit to look up at Lily. "G-Got him tied up back where you had me take him in…though I don't think I can continue after this."
"I kind of figured as much." She said as Mineta noticed her arm frozen in ice.
"Guess you're out as well. I'm surprised you lasted long against Todoroki."
"For the most part." She said before looking at her frozen arm. The armor that she summoned around it quickly vanished as she broke the ice with little to no problem. "I used up a lot of my energy blasting his ice away from me…hence why you see that tower of ice off in the distance."
"You got something hidden away in that tail of yours?" he asked as he noticed Lily pulling out a red gemstone from her tail. "What's that?"
"Something to put an end to that ice spamming jerk." She said before noticing Todoroki making his way over to where they were. Upon seeing Mineta laying on top of Lily, he couldn't help but look at him in disgust.
"Seriously? You would take advantage of your teammate in their weakened state. How low can you go, Mineta?"
"First of all, he just finished a fight with Shoji and won. So I'm okay with this and I give my consent to this. Second, I would refrain from judging my little brother like that when you're not better."
"...You're related to him?"
"No, but I see him as a little brother that I have no problem hanging out with and protecting if need be," Lily said before pulling Mineta in close to her. "After all, degenerates like us who want to become better have to stick together."
"I doubt that you can better yourselves given your reputations." He said before taking a step forward as the ice started to cover the area they were in. "Given how you're stuck on Mineta's balls, you lost this match."
"Oh, I wouldn't say we lost the match just yet. There's about one minute left in this match and I have just the right move to win this."
"And you think I'll give you the chance to do that? With you being stuck, you can't avoid my ice as you did before."
"True, but something tells me you suck when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, and you rarely put much strength in your running without the use of your quirk."
"Your point being?" He asked before noticing Lily tossing a red gemstone into the air. Upon seeing this, he quickly started to coat the floor with more ice. The moment the ice started to coat the purple balls, the gemstone that she threw into the air burst and created a dome around them. Once the dome was made, the ice within the area they're in quickly melted. Todoroki blinked in surprise as he tried to create a pillar of ice, only for it to melt within a second of being created. "What the hell did you do?"
"Heat dome. Come in handy during the winter when you don't have the means to keep yourself warm." She said before looking down at Mineta. "Get ready to fly."
"What do you mean by-" Before he could finish, he notice the magic circuit lines in Lily's arm lit up as she tossed him over in the direction of where the bomb was located. Todoroki was about to stop him with his ice, only for it to melt within seconds like before.
"And with that, we win that match," Lily said as she leaned back onto the bed of balls with her arms behind her head. "Not bad for a degenerate piece of shit, huh~?" She asked as Todoroki simply glared at her. "You could've used your fire, but you chose not to. Is there a reason why though?"
"I have nothing to say to you." He said before walking off to where the other students of Class 1A were located. "This has been a waste of my time."
"It's only a waste of time because you were half-assing this fight. You have both fire and ice at your disposal, but you only use ice through this entire fight. What's the point of being a hero if you're not going to give it your all?" She asked before noticing Todoroki stopping and giving her a death glare. "Glare at me all you want, but you have no right to be a hero if you're going to treat this like it's just a joke. Someone like you falls under the dangerous category because you can end up getting someone killed if you're not taking this seriously."
"...I advise you to keep your mouth shut, less you'll end up getting hurt from your comment," he said before walking off.
"...He's not going to last long if he keeps that attitude up." She said before hearing All Might speak up as he reported that the match was over. Nice to hear that Mineta was able to capture the bomb…though now begs the bigger question…how was she going to get herself off the bed of balls she was on. "...And the sudden realization of having Todoroki freeze me doesn't seem like a bad idea."
"True, but all in all you did a good job at handling yourself and supporting your friend. Two wins in a row is a nice accomplishment."
"I suppose…but I'm spent…" Lily said as she felt her eyelids feeling heavy. "Not a bad place…to rest up in…reminds me of the…s-slums."
"Rest child. You earn it."
"Y-Yeah…I do?" Upon saying that, the pseudo servant's vision faded into darkness as she passed out.
Lily's eyes slowly began to open as she found herself in some kind of hospital room. She soon glanced over at the window as she noticed the sun was setting in the distance. She could only guess that she was passed out for a couple of hours. It'd made sense seeing how she went all out by using Excalibur against Todoroki's ice. Her ears began to twitch upon hearing someone typing on a keyboard. Looking around she saw an elderly woman typing something on her computer before noticing Lily looking at her. The elderly woman smiled at her as she pulled herself up from her seat and made her way over to her while speaking up.
"Nice to see you're awake. Though I was expecting you to be knocked out until tomorrow morning given what you've been through."
"N…Not to sound rude, but who are you?"
"I'm Recovery Girl. U.A's nurse. You're currently in my office after the fight you had with Todoroki." She said before handing her a sucker. "Here, have some of my candy. It'll help with the loss of stamina that you have."
"...Yeah, no offense. But you can take that candy and give it to someone else." Lily said as she slowly pulled herself up from the bed she was on, but soon kneeled onto the floor from the pain she felt throughout her body. She lets out a wincing noise from the pain before hearing Recovery Girl walk over to her.
"You shouldn't be moving around like that. Your body hasn't recovered and moving around like that won't help you." She said before trying to get her back into the bed, only for Lily to push herself away from the elderly woman lightly as she staggers to her feet.
"I know how my body works, lady. You should worry about someone else than me."
"If you haven't noticed, no one else other than you and myself is here in my office."
"Then you're doing a good job. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a place to head home too."
"Not in your current condition you're in. You can barely walk."
"Then I'll crawl my way home if it comes to it," Lily said before staggering to the door, only for Recovery Girl to block the door by getting in front of it.
"Young lady, I can not allow you to leave this office. Now I suggest you sit back down before-" Before Recovery Girl could finish, Lily placed a finger on her head before speaking.
"Sleep." A purple glow engulfed the elderly woman's body as she soon felt herself collapsing. Before she could hit the floor, Lily quickly caught her and gently placed her on the side next to the door. After doing that, she quickly made her way outside the room and began to stagger her way down the hallway.
"You know, you could've just stayed in there. She wasn't going to hurt you or anything. Though she might've asked you for a blood sample just to see if she could find some information on you."
"Yeah, not happening. I prefer not to give them the means to try and make something that could trap me, or worse."
"I suppose, but it would've been wise to rest up a bit more. You're pretty much running on fumes at this point after your fight with Todoroki. Maybe if you used that gemstone from the beginning of the fight, then you wouldn't be in this situation."
"I don't need to lecture for something like that. Just…need to get to class." Lily said before tripping over her own feet and falling onto the floor making a loud thud. "...If you say I told you so, I will hurt you."
"I'm not going to say anything," Artoria said as she watched Lily crawling on the floor. "But I think the pink girl will be the one to say something to you about." Lily was about to ask what she meant by that, only for her question to be answered by a pair of shoes standing in front of her. Lily slowly looks up to see a familiar pink girl standing in front of her with her hands on her hips and a slight grin on her face.
"You know, if you're trying to be a ninja, you're not doing a good job at it~," Mina said before reaching down towards Lily, picking her up, and placing her on her back. "Geez, you're a lot heavier than you look. Might want to cut back on the sweets you eat."
"Hey, fuck you. I'm not fat!" Lily yelled as a blush appeared on her face as Mina began to make her way down the hallway with Lily.
"If you say so~," Mina said while letting out a small chuckle. "You were pretty cool out there during the training session. I'm surprised you were able to win against Todoroki."
"He's a one-trick pony. Don't know why he wouldn't use his fire, but whatever. I won the fight and he lost because he underestimated me." Lily said while letting out a weak chuckle, but soon winced a bit from the pain she felt throughout her body. "God, it hurts to laugh."
"I wouldn't be surprised. You fought against three of the strongest students in our class. The teacher said you were going to be passed out throughout the entire day, so he told us to tell or take you where your room was."
"Oh, how nice of him to care so much," Lily said in a sarcastic tone.
"You know he cares about you..right? Sure he may act as though he hates you, but I'm sure somewhere he cares about you."
"I find it hard to believe that. Keep in mind that I'm the villain killer, and he's a pro hero. It will be a cold day in hell before he shows that he cares about me."
"Is that the reason why you were crawling on the ground like that Snake person from Metal Gear Solid?"
"No, I was making my way out of Recovery GIrl's office. Thought I could make it back to class…but I ended up collapsing onto the ground."
"Recovery Girl let you leave?" Mina asked as she felt Lily flinch upon hearing that question. "...What did you do?"
"I…used my quirk to put her to sleep…" Lily answered as she noticed Mina deadpanning at her in disappointment. "She's not hurt or anything! Even I have my standards to hurt people depending on their age and personality."
"Doing that is not going to help you in gaining the teachers' trust. You know that, right?"
"I know that….It's just…I don't trust people." Lily said before resting her head on Mina's shoulder.
"Oh come on. You can surely trust the teachers here in U.A. I mean they're pro-heroes. They wouldn't hurt you or anything."
"Easy for you to say. You're not being labeled as a villain." Lily said as she felt Mina flinch from hearing that. "I don't want to be an ass towards you, but we're from two different worlds. You lived your life with friends, family, and a comfortable life of not worrying about certain life problems. While I pretty much had nothing but myself. Sure I've met a few people that help me out, but they just come and go. They don't stay long because…well it's the slums. Friends that I would make in the slums don't last long."
"You mean they end up moving or leaving?"
"I wish, but no. They end up dead the next day. Either because they got into a fight with some thug, Yakuza member, or I had to kill them because they wanted to kill me for my stuff." She said before feeling Mina stopping in her tracks.
"...Was it that hard to get help?"
"...Yeah…it was," Lily said before letting out a sigh. "I told Mineta this, but I hate heroes. It's not like I hate them as a person, but the whole hero system is a fucking joke. Sure some people only do it because they want to help save people, but you have those that want to do it for greedy purposes. Ones where the victims end up getting screwed over."
"No one came to save you…did they?" Mina asked as she felt Lily gripping her body a bit.
"The phrase ''All that glitter is not gold'' applies to this hero system. It hides the bad stuff behind all the good, and I am a byproduct of this system's failure." She said before realizing what she said. "Sorry, I shouldn't ramble on like that. I'm sure that it's not something important for you to remember-"
"...You poor damaged girl."
"I'm not that damaged-" Before Lily could finish her sentence, she felt herself being dropped onto the floor as she let out a loud grunt of pain due to falling onto her butt. She looked up at Mina with a glare, but it soon turned into a surprised expression as she felt the pink girl embrace her into a hug.
"You poor unfortunate girl! Living on your own with little to no human contact. Always keep one eye open in your sleep. It's no wonder you don't have much trust in heroes…or people in that matter. You're like an actual antihero in those marvel comics people read and talk about."
"I don't know if I should be offended by that comment or find it as a compliment."
"It's a compliment!" Mina said before grabbing Lily's face with her hands. "But that's beside the point! I may not know much about you, but you did give me some background about a part of your past. And because of that, I'm going to be your friend!" She said as Lily blinked in surprise at this. "Well I was going to be your friend even if you didn't tell me something about your past, but still, we're best friends now!"
"...I don't have much of a say in this do I?"
"Not unless you want to crawl back to your small little home~," Mina said in a teasing tone. The pseudo servant let out a sigh of defeat before smirking at her.
"Alright, I'll give this friendship thing a try," Lily said before noticing a grin appear on Mina's face. "Though I have my doubts that you'll be willing to stick your neck out for me, I'm willing to let you prove it."
"Awesome! Thanks!" Mina said before pulling Lily in for another hug, only this time she was rubbing her face against hers. "Wow, your skin is so smooth and soft. How is that even possible."
"That's a secret that I'm willing to take to my grave."
"Aw come on. You can tell me~"
"Gain my trust and I'm willing to tell you, but for now." Lily's face blushed bright red as she let out a small cough. "C-Can you…carry me to my room…I can't move much because of today's training."
"Sure," Mina said before picking Lily back up onto her back and returning to making their way down the hallway. While making their way to Lily's supposed home provided for her by the school, a small blue-skinned girl with silvery white-colored hair, red eyes, and was wearing clothing that resembles that of traditional Indian clothing. The young girl watched Mina and Lily walking down the hallway chatting with each other, but she was more focused on the pink girl with the horns on her head. The girl continued to watch Mina for a while as a grin appeared on her face before slowly making herself disappear.
"Yes, she will do quite nicely."
