Class Skills:

Mad Enhancement A++

A Class Skill that characterizes a Berserker, raising basic parameters and strengthens one's physical abilities in exchange of hindering mental capacities and/or in exchange for their sense of reason. Applied at an A++ rank, the Servant gains a rank up for all parameters (and 2 rank-ups for physical parameters), but in the process loses all of their reason and consciousness, becoming nothing more than a mad beast.

Mind's Eye (False) D

A natural talent to foresee/sense and avoid danger on the basis of an innate 6th sense, intuition, or prescience. The accuracy of this instinct can be augmented by experience.

Personal Skills:

Magecraft D

Capable of using orthodox Thaumaturgy, such as Reinforcement to temporarily increase the essence of the tool and Projection to grasp the structure of the substance and temporarily replicate it. During his life time, the sorceries learned by Emiya Shirou are unremarkable. Before becoming a Heroic Spirit, even Reinforcement was quite difficult. However, the Projection sorcery he wields is quite special, as it is able to duplicate weapons, including all the components, though with minor degradations in quality. In addition, during duplication, he can even read the wielder's skills, which allows him to gain all kinds of Noble Phantasms and combat skills.

When the target of projection falls under the category of "sword", the Rank rapidly jumps up to A.

Noble Phantasms:

Broken Blade Works: Infinite Creation of Broken Blades D ~ A++

(Type: Anti-Unit)

A Reality Marble that embodies and manifests Berserker's internal world and imprints it upon the World as a bounded field for a short amount of time.

A blacksmith's forge which contains all of the raw materials and sorcery needed for the formation of countless swords. It records and analyzes and breaks all weapons and defensive armaments which are encountered by the user.

A version of "Unlimited Blade Works" that only produces and fires overcharged broken phantasms (swords). In some sense, a more powerful version of Unlimited Blade Works, but far less versatile as a result. Any sword not made by Berserker is automatically broken within his Reality Marble.

It is the one true specialization of magecraft, the result of "Sword" being both Berserker's Origin and Elemental Affinity and the basis of Berserker's projection and reinforcement skills. It is the definite answer obtained by someone whose life was saved by a Sword, lived as a Sword, and acted as a sword for his whole life.

Nine Lives Blade Works: Shooting the Hundred Heads C~A+

(Type: Anti-Unit)

A variation of Nine Lives used by Emiya Shirou upon projecting the technique from Berserker and using it with Berserker's axe-sword. A high-impact, high speed series of nine strikes.

Berserker's personality:

Berserker's personality is similar to that of Emiya Shirou's. However, he is a version of Emiya Shirou that has chosen to discard his unachievable ideals in order to rescue and protect that one precious person in front of his very own eyes. A version of Emiya Shirou that has hardened his resolve, and is willing to become a monster for the one he loves.

Because he is under the effects of Mad Enhancement, his personality does not show through, most of the time.

If this was Fate/Grand Order:

Bond CE:

"The Ideal Within his Heart"

Sakura in forefront, smiling as she's looking back at Shirou. Tohsaka off to right and Saber off to left, both smiling. Ilya prancing about playfully in background, smiling at him. Sakura (cherry blossoms) falling as the background scenery, as they're heading off for a cherry-blossom viewing.

Author's Notes:

Haven't gotten many reviews for the Berserker chapter, which is kinda disappointing, not gonna lie.

Also true of the Saber interlude, but that one was more dialogue, so that was to be expected.

I thought the Berserker fight was really good, but apparently it's not...? It doesn't seem to be that popular among readers, at least.

It's making me doubt the climax I have planned out now, to be honest. I thought it was pretty good, but maybe it's not?

(To be fair, maybe a lack of reviews is not necessarily a bad thing, maybe it just means the readers were left without words (in a good way). I dunno though, if I'm reading something epic, I usually like to comment on it, just to express my appreciation and praise for how good it was.)

What did you guys think of the Berserker fight, though (and the Saber interlude, for that matter)? Was it good? Was it clever? Was it epic?

...

(Personally, I thought that Berserker's defensive methods of summoning swords internally while being supported by Ilya's magecraft was a pretty clever idea (if stupid and reckless, befitting of a Berserker) and method of defending against attacks. And the feedback actually being a negative thing instead of a positive thing, as it was for Shirou in the Unlimited Blade Works Route. I thought that was a pretty cool twist on the established mechanics, too. Like a natural extension of what it could possibly do.)

...

(And in terms of Saber's interlude - I thought it was a pretty good tie-in and natural flow of events of how the events of the Fate route and Shirou's relationship with Saber in the Fate route could lead him off the path of becoming a Counter-Guardian. I thought it all tied pretty well and organically.

The steps for making the Excalibur Impression (Fake) was something I also really liked as well, with it being an even more degraded version of Excalibur image, like a human-made and mass-produced low-quality version of Excalibur. The Sader equivalent to Excalibur's Saber, if you will (lol).

I also like the fact that I got to mention and tie in the Edelfelts (Luvia), El-Melloi, Gray, and Zelritch (in an rational and reasonable way) to the story.

And I liked how Shirou ended up in England towards the end of his life - and how that helped him find his way to Artoria in the end.)

But anyways, what did you guys think of it (The Berserker fight, the Saber Interlude)?

Was it good?

Was it clever?

Was it epic?
