Harry had warned her it might happen, but she'd trimmed James' hair when he was little and nothing had happened, so she definitely wasn't expecting this.

Her eldest son was leaning against the bathroom wall, arms behind his back. Harry's razor was at the basin, with James' thick black hair all in the sink.

Ginny sighed; her little boy was Mr Independent these days. Always wanting to be like his daddy.

"I want Grandma to cut my hair again cos my hair woke up big again," said James.

Molly had taken advantage of having James, Albus and Rose stay at the Burrow for the day, to give her grandchildren haircuts, which Ginny was happy about. James' hair was like a mop, so much like Harry's hair, and she suspected Albus' would be the same, while Rose had Ron's ginger locks with Hermione's unruliness.

Ginny put her hand to her chin as she contemplated her son. In truth she was hiding a grin, for James wasn't bothered one little bit by the large chunk of hair he had shaved off.

"So you're cutting your own hair because grandma's not here to do this right now?" she asked.

"Yes," he said earnestly. "I'm helping, Mummy. Grandma's really old...but she cuts better than me."

Ginny smiled and knelt in front of James. " Let's not say that to Grandma, especially when she had a wand in her hand!"

James flung his arms around his mother's neck.

" Will you tell Daddy I magicked my hair to grow?" he asked.

"Oh, Daddy will definitely want to hear about this," she replied, turning to blow a raspberry on his cheek and making him giggle.

"No more touching daddy's razor though."
