Chapter 15B
Brendan looked at the two doors in front of him. He understood he could only face one, but it was nice to imagine what could happen. To the right, a strength room. To the left, a One Hit KO room. He didn't really care which one he went through, since May would have to face the other room. Knowing what he did was useless, he pointed to the right, then moved there. He found himself facing a trainer, who politely introduced herself as Jodie before choosing a Zangoose and tossing him out. Brendan watched his right arm chuck out (B)Radot, and the battle had begun.
Brendan chose to see what three fingers did, and held them out. (B)Radot quickly nodded, then used Double Team to make several fakes. Zangoose chased after (B)Radot with Fury Cutter, and sent (B)Radot into a wall. It didn't cause (B)Radot to faint, but Brendan knew that it wouldn't take much more. Brendan kept out three fingers to dodge the next strike, and hoped that May would see that Absorb was the only thing to do. (B)Radot made ore clones using Double Team, and used them to confuse Zangoose. Zangoose swiped deep into the horde, but didn't make contact. Miss.
Close one, thought Brendan. He knew that if the copies hadn't fooled the Zangoose, (B)Radot would have most certainly been downed. Ready to go on the attack, Brendan signalled (B)Radot to use Disarming Voice to knock Zangoose away, and it worked! In response, all Zangoose did was use leer. Brendan would've figured that this would be useless, but his linked state meant that this would actually be a critical strike if left unchecked. As if confirming it, (B)Radot suddenly collapsed. Brendan felt May start to run over, and was just able to support himself as he reached (B)Radot. Upon checking May, he realized that (M)Radot had also just fainted. As May returned the two, Brendan grabbed the Treekips, and released them from their balls.
To weaken Zangoose, Brendan chose Growl for the first attack. (B)Treekip successfully lowered the strength of Zangoose, but was sent down by Fury Cutter. Barely standing, Brendan decided that Rock Smash would be the only right choice. As he tried to do that though, a Scratch dealt a heavy blow to (B)Treekip. (B)Treekip delivered a powerful blow to the back of the Zangoose, and the solid thwack sound signalled a critical strike. As the strike landed, both (B)Treekip and the Zangoose collapsed, fainted. Jodie sighed, then made her announcement.
"Zangoose fainted first, so you are the winner, Congratulations."
Brendan slumped to the ground, exhausted from the ordeal. He nodded, then returned (B)Treekip before exiting.
