Chapter 27: Leaving Hogwarts
It has been a couple of days since I have been rescued. Instead of the end of the year feast like they usually do, we had a memorial service for Cedric, who died in the third task. I am sitting in the great hall, next to Hermione, and sitting on my wife, Johanna's lap. Professor Dumbledore started speaking. "Today we acknowledge a terrible loss. Cedric Diggory was as you know exceptionally hard-working. Infinitely fair-minded... And most importantly a fierce, fierce, friend." He said.
"Now, I think, therefore, you have the right to know exactly how he died. You see, Cedric Diggory was murdered. By Lord Voldemort!" I flinched a bit when I heard that name. "The ministry of magic does not wish me to tell you this. But not to tell you, I think would be an insult to his memory. Now, the pain we all feel at this dreadful loss reminds me, reminds us, while we may come from different places and speak in different tongues our heartbeats as one. In light of recent events, the bonds of friendship we made this year, will be more important than ever. Remember that. And Cedric Diggory will not have died in vain. You remember that. And we'll celebrate a boy who was kind and honest and brave and true. Right to the very end."
After the memorial service, we went to the common room and I finished packing up some last-minute things. We go home tomorrow from school. As I was packing, my wife, Johanna, and Aunt Sarafina walked into the room. "Hey, sweetie," Johanna said. She walked up to me and gave me a kiss and I kissed her back. I sat back down on my bed because I couldn't walk on my broken foot. "How are you doing?" Johanna asked me.
"I'm doing okay, I'm still tired," I said. "That's normal, I think you're tired from your time in captivity with Voldemort." Aunt Sarafina said. "Don't say that name!" I snapped. "Okay, sorry, I won't say that name." Aunt Sarafina said.
"Sweetie, I think you should lay down for a little bit since you are tired," Johanna said. "Okay," I said with a sigh. I sat down in my bed and as I was about to lay down, we heard a knock on my door. "Come in." Aunt Sarafina said. Professor Dumbledore walked inside the room. What was he doing here, I wondered. "Did you need anything Professor?" Aunt Sarafina said. Professor Dumbledore smiled at me and said "I never liked these curtains. Set them on fire in my fourth year. By accident of course."
Professor Dumbledore's smile turned into a frown. He sat down on my bed next to me. "I put you and your father in terrible danger this year Lana. It was my fault that you got kidnapped by the Dark Lord. I'm sorry." Professor Dumbledore said. "It's...It's okay, you couldn't help it," I said. "Have you talked to my dad yet?" I asked him. "Yes, I already talked to him. And you're staying with Harry this summer. Your family will be staying with the Weasley's." Professor Dumbledore said. "How come I can't stay with my family this summer? Harry's Aunt and Uncle, and cousin are horrible from what I heard." I said.
"Yeah, I don't really like the idea of my wife staying with horrible people this summer," Johanna said. "I want you to stay with Harry this summer so you can keep him company this summer. And so you can have a more different experience in a different home with a different family." Professor Dumbledore said. "Do Harry's Aunt and Uncle know I am coming this summer?" I asked. "Yes, I already contacted them. Don't worry if things get bad, someone will come and get you guys." He said. "Okay," I said. "I'll let you finish packing your stuff. Have a good summer." Professor Dumbledore said and left my room.
"Thanks," I said. Just then, my husband, Cato walked into the room. "What did the Professor want?" Cato asked. "Professor Dumbledore said Lana will be staying with Harry, she won't be staying with us this summer." Aunt Sarafina said. "Wait, what?" Cato said, shocked. I nodded and Johanna spoke up. "Yeah, she's staying with Harry's Aunt and Uncle this summer," Johanna said. "His abusive Aunt and Uncle?! No, I don't like this. I don't want my wife staying with those kinds of people. I'm gonna have a word with him." Cato said. As he was about to walk out, Aunt Sarafina stopped him.
"Cato, wait." Aunt Sarafina said. "What?" Cato said and turned to look at her. "I don't like this as much as you don't. But this is what he said, and we should just go along with this. Don't worry, she'll be back with us later in the summer." Aunt Sarafina said. "I still don't like this," Cato said. "I don't wanna be away from you guys all summer," I said. "Don't worry babe, you'll see us later in the summer. And you can write to us this summer and call us." Johanna said.
"Okay, but you better write back," I said. "We will don't worry," Johanna said. "We'll leave you to get some rest." Aunt Sarafina said. She, Johanna, and Cato left my room so I can get some rest. I laid down and in a few minutes, I fell asleep.
It is the next day and today is the day that we would be going home. I was nervous about going home for the summer. Hermione was in my room, checking my suitcases. My owl, Snowy was safely in her cage. My husband, Scar, and my mom, Katniss was in my room helping me get ready as well.
"Are you gonna be okay without us this summer?" Scar asked me. "Yeah, I think so," I said. "I know it's scary Lana, but you'll be okay. We'll be a phone call away if you need anything or if you wanna chat." Katniss said. "Okay, mom," I said. I walked up to Snowy's cage and took her out for a bit. I let Katniss pet Snowy. "She's soft," Katniss said. "Yeah," I said. "I can see why you named her Snowy." Scar said.
"Okay Lana, you have everything," Hermione said and zipped up my suitcases. I put Snowy in her cage. "Hey guys, the other schools are leaving, we don't want to miss saying goodbye to them!" Marvel shouted. "We're coming!" I shouted back. "Okay, let's go," Hermione said. She grabbed my luggage and we walked downstairs where we met my family. We walked outside and we loaded up our luggage on the train. We then gathered around with the other schools and said goodbye to them. "Hermione, this is for you. Write to me and call me, Promise?" Krum said as he handed a letter to Hermione.
Krum blew Hermione a kiss and walked off. Hermione smiled. Two girls walked up to Ron and kissed him. "Avior, Ron," Fleur said. We cheered for the students as they walked away and mounted their rides. We cheered and waved as they walked towards their transportation cars. I smiled and sighed happily. I grabbed my crutches and walked over to where my parents were and sat down next to them.
Ron smiled and said, "Do you think we'll ever have a quiet year at Hogwarts?" "No." Hermione, Harry, and I said at the same time. "No, I don't think so," Harry said. "Oh well, what's life without a few dragons," Ron said as he put his hands on mine and Harry's shoulders. I followed the boys but Hermione stood back. "Mom?" I said. "Everything's going to change now, is it?" Hermione said. Harry walked up to Hermione and put a hand on her shoulder. "Yes," Harry said.
I smiled and set my crutches down and hugged Hermione and she hugged me back. I picked up my crutches again. "Promise you'll write to me this summer. All three of you." Hermione said as we walked. "Of course mom," I said. "Well, you know I won't," Ron said. "Dad!" I cried. "Harry will, won't you?" Hermione said. "Yeah, every week," Harry said. Harry and Ron chuckled as we walked to the balcony. I took some pictures on my phone as I watched the two schools disappear. "Mom, can you take a picture of me next to the carts?" I asked her. "Sure honey," Hermione said. I posed for the picture as Hermione took the picture. After a few minutes, we boarded the train and we left Hogwarts.
'Goodbye Hogwarts.' I said quietly.
