Intern Life: Proving Yourself

Kaine woke up groggily to the sound of his phone going off. "Hello?" he answered, not even bothering to look at the caller ID.

"Ah, boy! Good to see you've finally answered!" It was Aleks, truth be told, Kaine wasn't expecting to hear from the Russian since he hadn't been doing vigilante work lately. "Saw you on news again. Very big surprise. I mean, Tony Stark? And the fact he's hero now. It's like he's perfect evolution of his great-great-grandfather." he laughed, "He'd better watch out, unsure how far a metal suit can take you these days."

Kaine rubbed his eyes and yawned as he made his way to his kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. "Okay, what is this about Aleks. Why'd you really call me?" he asked, somewhat relieved now that his mouth wasn't dry.

"I've been able to crack the laptop retrieved from Racer. Everything is there. Names, business affiliations villains on their payroll, HEROES on their payroll. Names of external clients, business deals, properties owned, even politicians on the payroll and encouraging all of this. It's practically all there." Kaine's eyes widened in surprise at the news, "All that's missing now is the name of the man that runs Yoshii. I imagine we'll be able to figure that out with his records." There was a short pause and Kaine could hear some sort of cluttering in the background of the call, like Aleks was looking for something, "I fear I may have become compromised recently. I've become more and more paranoid as I dug into this. I don't know if the data had some sort of back door I was unaware of, but I took precautions. I'm hiding the data I received on a thumb drive."

"Where?" Kaine asked, receiving a chuckle in return.

"If I told you, I could compromise everything. Be easy, comrade. Watch your back out there. Soon, we will set things right." With that Aleks hung up, leaving Kaine to ponder what he had said. Were they in to deep? Could someone have figured out who took the data? He may never get an answer. Kaine looked at his alarm clock and saw he was going go be late for the agree upon meet-up time he made with Mirko. Cursing to himself, he quickly got up and got dressed in his hero outfit, not even bothering to grab his school clothes, he had to move quickly.

Off in the distance, a couple buildings away from Kaine's apartment sat The Assassin. She had a small satalite dish set up that connected to her laptop, it then connected to several mobile phones. The phones were necessary so Assassin could cover as much ground as possible and connect to as many cell towers as possible. She held up a pair of headphones and listened into Kaine's phone call. So...the brat has an accomplice huh? Seems this 'Aleks' is a guy in the chair type character. The brains while the brat is just the brawn.

Assassin nodded and set the headphones down and immediately began tapping away at her laptop, "That Russian said that he hid the data on a thumb drive. If boss is gonna be out of the water, and if I want to be paid, I'm gonna have to retrieve that drive first." she frowned, "Which means I need to track down this master hacker the kid has on his side." as she tapped at her laptop she began tracking the cell signal, "What the?" she blinked a few times in surprise and double checked the laptop to be sure, "The call was coming from a few rooms away from the kid?" she pulled out her binoculars and to look at the room that her laptop said the call came from, to her surprise she saw a man staring back at her with binoculars.

Assassin was put off by the sight, nearly jumping back in surprise. "He saw me." she growled in annoyance, "He knows I'm coming. He'll be prepared." her eyes began vibrating before coming to a stop. Seems she saw something she liked. Her upset demeanor turned into a smirk, "Good."

"About damn time you got here!" Mirko shouted at Kaine as he swung next to her. He had to travel from his apartment all the way to the Upper West Side. So he had quite the distance to travel, and the fastest way to move was by swinging as fast as he could, as well as hitching a ride on the train...an illegal ride. It was a miracle he made it without getting some sort of trouble. "Good to see you're breathing hard. Don't pull a muscle today, got it? C'mon, we got work."

"Already?" Kaine asked, his heart pumping fast from the swing over.

Mirko nodded, "Yeah, so put on your big boy pants because we have an actual situation here. Not some grimey purse snatchers. There's a hostage situation at the bank and we're the closest heroes. Don't fuck this up!" she growled shoving her finger in Kaine's face, "We lose anyone in there, or worse, I lose YOU, I'm gonna be fucking pissed! You got that!?" Kaine nervously nodded in response, "Good, let's go!"

Kaine swung close behind Mirko as she raced her way to the bank in question. Damn, she's really fired up today. Guess the day off from hero work really does a number on her psyche. Kaine had to mentally hit himself in the head, Stupid, Kaine! Weren't you listening? She said there was a hostage situation! Of course she'd be serious, someone could get hurt if we...if I don't perform well. he gulped, This is the situation where I show the world what I'm made of, my first real test as a hero. Not as a vigilante.

"There it is!" Mirko yelled out as she pointed to a police blockade set up outside the bank. Once the two landed on the ground they were met by two officers and a support hero, Schematic: The Schematics hero, while the others continued to be ready to apprehend the villains once the situation was under control. "What's the situation looking like?" Mirko asked.

"We got several villains inside the bank, at least a half dozen hostages." the first officer, a man named Dojima, replied. "Villains that we have confirmed are Blockade and Cindershot."

"Cindershot?" Kaine asked.

"Fairly new to the villain game, but extremely dangerous." Schematic explained. He tapped at a Tac-Pad on his forearm pulling up Cindershot's complete criminal record, blood type, photographs, Line account, other social media accounts banned or otherwise, school records, previous addresses, and much more. Jesus fucking Christ, this hero is terrifying. Should call himself Dox or something. "As you can see, Cindershot's MO is arson. His quirk involves being able to make inanimate objects spontaneous combust at his command after he touches them. So, good news...you won't blow up, bad news, he can make everything around you blow up. He gained his name after he hurling rocks at a police precinct, effectively turning them into bombs."

"Anyone else?" Mirko asked.

"Unsure." Dojima replied, there's a leader calling the shots. So there are two confirmed villains, one unconfirmed and who knows how many others are in there."

Mirko clicked her tongue in annoyance, "No choice then. We'll have to break down the front and catch them with their pants down."

"Can't exactly do that either." Dojima said with a shake of his head, "Blockade has the front completely covered up, we'd have to get him to lose focus so he can drop the wall.'

"There is a second entrance solution," Schematic pointed out. He tapped on his Tac-Pad again and pulled up a hologram of the bank. He zoomed in to the rooftop and highlighted a small grate which highlighted orange, "There is an entrance to the ventilation shaft on the roof. If one of you could crawl through, you could sneak in undetected."

"Not really my style." Mirko frowned.

"Yeah, also your ass will keep you from getting past the entrance." Kaine said in English, quietly chuckling to himself. He felt his spine tingle when Mirko darted her eyes towards him and began staring him down like she was going to murder him. Wait...she didn't understand that...did she?

"Well, kid," Mirko she sighed, "Sounds like you're entering."

Kaine blinked a few times in surprise, "A-Alright!" he nodded.

Inside the bank several civilians were cowering in fear on the ground as five villains had held them hostage. Only one person, a young female bank teller, was standing. She was being held at gunpoint by one of the villains, a man who went by 'Bonesaw'.

Bonesaw was a unique villain because he didn't have a quirk, he was just really dangerous with a weapon. Hell, he wasn't even inherently evil! He was just a man who was bored of his mundane day-to-day life as a salary man. One day he snapped and robbed a store at gunpoint and realized it was a hell of a lot of fun to him. His outfit consisted of an all black body suit with police grade kevlar vest, and combat pants. On his suit he made out a design that looked like an xray, so all the bones could bee seen.

"Calm down, take your time." he told the woman as he pressed the gun to the back of her head. "Take a few deep breaths, and lets get that combination right, huh?" he then turned to his compatriots: Cindershot, Blockade, Pulse, and Super Nova.

Cindershot, the aforementioned villain with the ability to combust inanimate objects at will after he touches them. Due to his current record and still be fairly new as a villain, he wears mostly streetware to be as inconspicuous as possible. Ironic considering he was recognized by officers right away; Blockade, a man covered in rocks and cement wearing large shorts. The rocks aren't part of his body though, he just has a way to control anything with a mineral in it as long as he has focus. Currently he has set up a barricade using the granite from the floors; Pulse, a villain that can destroy things using the pulse of his heart, due to this quirk he carries at least a dozen cans or more of highly caffeinated energy drinks to make his heart beat faster. He wears a purple and green jumpsuit with a partial face covering, on his chest he has a design that looks like a pulse from a heart monitor; Finally, there was Super Nova. He doesn't say much, but he's an older villain. A man who respects a fair fight. His ability allows him to set his whole body aflame similar to the one of the founding members of the original Fantastic Four, the Human Torch. Strangely, he wears what looks to be old fashioned samurai garb, complete with a Kabuto helmet.

"Pulse," Bonesaw called out, "when this door is open there should be a thick lining of bullet proof glass, that's when you're up. Cinder, Nova, keep an eye on those hostages, make sure they don't try anything funny. And be prepared for if any heroes show up. Blockade...keep doing what you're doing, good job, buddy."

"Thanks." Blockade grunted out in a deep voice.

Up on the roof, Kaine gulped as he looked at the vent opening. It was tiny! If he got in there he'd practically be stuck, he might actually get claustrophobia from this. "Listen," Mirko began as she grabbed Kaine's shoulders, "You get in there, you distract Blockade and you focus on getting the hostages out, do you understand?" she warned, "I'll deal with the villains. Get the hostages out and I'll deal with the villains. Nothing else, got it!?"

"But Miss Mirko--" Kaine began but was cut off by the bunny hero.

"Understand!?"

Kaine sighed and nodded, "Yes ma'am, I understand."

Mirko patted Kaine on the shoulder and jumped back down to ground level. Kaine jumped up and down a few times before cracking his neck, "Okay, here we go, here we go. This is the first bat in the big leagues. Do my job, do it well, get praise from Miss Mirko." he nodded, "It's showtime." Kaine kneeled next to the vent grating and stuck his hands to the sides. With a quick yank he was effortlessly able to rip off the grating. Kaine took a few deep breaths before crawling into the narrow space. He felt the tightness and squeezing by the vent and had to calm himself down before proceeding onward, using his hands to pull him through.

"Damn." he groaned with a whisper, "Now I know what it's like to be instant yakisoba." As he continued crawling through the ventilation shaft, he came to an impasse. Left or right? Which to choose? Judging by the way I came in...left is probably towards the main lobby, which means right should be to offices right? I'd like to keep the element of surprise if I can. Sooo... Kaine immediately began to crawl to his right, hoping he wouldn't just pop out in front of all the villains. He continued to crawl until he eventually hit a dead end, with a single grate just under him. "Guess this is my stop."

Kaine placed his hands on the grate and pushed down, popping it off its bolts and made it fall to the floor. He then pulled himself down so just his torso was poking out for him to look around. However, when he looked around he didn't see an office room like he was expecting. Instead he saw a large wall of bullet proof glass and a door attached to it. "What the fuck?" Kaine swore in English. He turned to his left and saw what looked to be a giant vault door beginning to open to the room he was in. "Oh...shit."

The door opened and Kaine was face-to-face with Bonesaw, "What the fuck!?" the villain yelled out as he pushed the bank teller to the side and pointed his pistol at Kaine. Kaine's eyes widened and his head rang, instantly he lifted his hand up and fired a web ball as Bonesaw pulled the trigger. To Kaine's surprise, he was abel to jam the gun before the bullet left the chamber. "God dammit. HEY! HEROES ARE HERE!" Bonesaw yelling that was enough to get Blockade to lose focus of the barricade he was putting up.

"What? Who?" Blockade asked. As he did that the granite floor lowered back down and Mirko was able to jump through a window and kick Blockade in the back of the head. Cindershot and Super Nova turned to face Mirko who landed in a crouch with a big smirk on her face. "It's Mirko! It's Mirko!" Blockade yelled out causing Bonesaw to get distracted and look back.

Kaine dropped down to the ground, landing on his shoulder and got up quickly to get out into the lobby so he could assist the civilians. He shot a webline and yanked himself forward, sending a powerful superman punch across Bonesaw's face, knocking him down to the ground. Kaine then quickly moved to the woman to take her hand but was confronted with Pulse. "You've made a big mistake, boy." the villain said as he cracked two energy drinks and downed them at the same time. He then cracked his neck and smirked as he put his hand to the wall. Immediately, Kaine could see shockwaves going across the wall and cracking it, "You've officially subjected yourself to: Pulse!" the villain rushed Kaine and tried to put his hands on the teen's chest. Kaine reacted naturally and swiped the villains hands away with his left hand and sent a palm strike to Pulse's nose, breaking it and knocking out the villain from the force of the strike.

Kaine held hand to his mask in shock, "Oh my god, I didn't think he'd be that much of a pushover." He walked over to the lady and got her to her feet, "Don't worry, we're here to save all of you."

"KID!" Mirko shouted as she dodged a flame blast from Super Nova before performing a spin kick against Blockade and having him fly into the flaming samurai, "Get the fuck outta here! Save the hostages! I told you to leave the villains to me!"

Kaine quickly grabbed the bank teller by the hand and put her on his back. He then fired a webline and started to swing towards the other hostages, but felt that ringing feeling again. "Not so fast, brat!" Before Kaine could react, a chair hit him and blew up, sending him flying towards the wall. Kaine quickly grabbed the woman on his back and spun in air before colliding with the wall, wrapping his arms around her so she didn't get harmed. "HAHAHA! Good luck, kid. You're outta your league against Cindershot!" Cindershot laughed.

Kaine fell to the ground and groaned in pain, "Miss, I need you to do me a favor and get the hostages out of here. Police are outside, you'll be safe. I'll take on this ass wipe for you." the woman nodded and Kaine got to his feet. "Okay, you Halo weapon rip-off. I hope you're ready to be embarrassed, 'cause you're about to get your ass kicked by an intern!" he got into his fighting stance and took a deep breath.

Cindershot chuckled as he grabbed a chair and broke it on the ground, giving himself plenty of debris to play around with. "You've made a big mistake, brat. Should have just let us be. Now you're gonna go back to your mama in a body bag!" He threw the first detached leg of the chair at Kaine, but the teen was able to duck beneath it. However, Cindershot was still able to make the leg combust, sending splinters flying at Kaine's head. Thank god for the mask, otherwise I'd probably be blind. Kaine thought as he brushed the splinters off his suit. When Kaine looked back up he was immediately met by Cindershot clubbing him against the side of the head with one of the chair legs. But, thanks to Kaine's strength, he didn't even flinch and leg shattered against the said of his head, Kay...that was kinda annoying. Kaine mentally groaned. "The hell?" Cindershot asked.

Kaine stood straight up, showing his height and towering over Cindershot by at least 20 centimeters. "Okay..." Kaine gave a slight growl, "You're really starting to piss me off." Cindershot's eyes widened and he tried to grab something to throw at Kaine, however, the spider teen quickly webbed the object to the villain's hand. "Go ahead, make it blow up, I'm sure one of your buddies here will lend you a hand." Kaine chuckled. He then began sending a barrage of punches to the villain. Cindershot tried his best to avoid getting hit but he was just too slow and too clumsy. Kaine grabbed hold of Cindershot's collar and sent a massive knee to the villain's gut, knocking the wind out of him. Kaine then followed up by sending two gut checks and finally an uppercut to Cindershot's jaw, knocking him down. "Bitch."

A scream was heard and Kaine looked back to the entrance to see the bank teller he helped earlier on the floor as she was almost hit by Blockade who was knocked back by Mirko. "You little..." Blockade looked to the girl and smirked, "Your done for now, girly!" Blockade put his hand on the ground and surrounded the teller with the granite ground. "Not so fast, hero!" Mirko stopped fighting Super Nova, her body sweaty from the heat and her breathing heavily due to the hot air nearly suffocating her. Dammit! Why are there still civilians here? Mirko growled. She looked to her right and saw Kaine tensing up with Cindershot down by his feet, FOR FUCK SAKE KAINE! her eye twitched in irritation, I told him to get the hostages out and stay back! "That's right Number 6 hero, you stand down or I crush this girlie to a paste!"

Mirko wanted to do something but she knew she wouldn't be able to get to Blockade before he could harm the civilian. She hated it, but she had to stand down and hope they'd let the hostage go. Mirko huffed out and held her hands in the air, leading Blockade and Super Nova to laugh. "Stupid hero." Blockade mocked. Mirko's eyes widened and she cursed herself out for thinking these villains would let a hostage go that easily. But before Blockade could do anything, two weblines, one that attached to his face and another to his hand that was on the ground, yanked out of position and the teller was able to escape outside safely.

Mirko saw Kaine yank Blockade towards him and she instantly performed a spin kick across Super Nova's jaw. Kaine used his strength to lift up Blockade and suplex him onto the teller's desk. He then quickly webbed the villain to the desk so that he couldn't use his quirk before tearing the rocks off Blockade's mask before sending a ferocious punch and knocking him out. Kaine took a couple steps back before letting out breath he didn't realize he had been holding. "Miss Mirko, I--"

"Shut up!" Mirko interrupted as she gripped Kaine by his collar and pulled him down to her level, "I gave you one direction. ONE! Get the hostages out and stay back. And what did you do? You disobeyed me! Did you see what happened? You almost got a civilian killed because you didn't listen!"

"But, Miss Mirko," Kaine tried pleading.

"No! I give a rule, you follow. Understood? You're the intern here." Mirko looked both ways before scrunching up her face, "So leave that vigilante risky bullshit behind, got it?" You're the one who wanted to go in on your own. And you call me risky? Kaine thought. Mirko continued to berate Kaine but...he couldn't focus. Something was wrong. That feeling. That AWFUL feeling. The feeling where everything around Kaine just shuts down and he can only hear ringing and...almost like a faint voice. Get down. Get down. He could hear it so vividly but also not at all. The last time he had this feeling was when Bakugou... SHIT! Kaine wrapped his arms around Mirko and dove forward, just in time to avoid get shot by a shotgun blast.

"HOLY SHIT!" Kaine yelled out, "I forgot how fucking loud guns are." Kaine felt the ringing again and he quickly rolled to his back where he saw Bonesaw coming around the counter with a shotgun in hand, him cocking it as he approached.

"Nice dodge, brat." Bonesaw stated, "Too bad you aren't lucky enough to dodge twice." he pointed the gun forward and began pulling the trigger. Kaine quickly fired a webline to the gun and flicked his wrist up, making Bonesaw shoot the ceiling.

Mirko growled in irritation, "Spider, set me up!" she yelled out as she flipped to her feet and began dashing towards the villain. Kaine shot another webline at Bonesaw's face and yanked him forward, putting him off balance, but also moving his face to optimal kicking height. "You irritate the shit out of me, villain scum. LUNA KICK!" Mirko jumped and performed a spin kick, her foot landing against the left side of Bonesaw's face, likely breaking his jaw in some way and sending him flying through the window and into a police cruiser.

Mirko breathed heavily, a little out of breath from the whole ordeal. Dammit. she cursed to herself, I let my guard down too much because I was worried the kid was gonna get hurt. I should've been able to deal with these losers on my own but... she looked to Kaine to see him catching his breath, probably a little startled after nearly being shot. Dammit, kid. Why didn't you listen. "C'mon," Mirko sighed, "Let's grab the other villains and take them to the police." Kaine, finally on his feet again, nodded. Mirko grabbed Super Nova and Pulse while Kaine grabbed Blockade.

"Wait..." Kaine looked around, "Did you already grab Cindershot?"

Mirko's eyes began to twich, "Boy, are you telling me he got away!?"

Before Mirko could blow up, Dojima came out of his patrol car, "Mirko, intern, our boys spotted Cindershot fleeing the scene. They tracked him back to an apartment complex. We believe he lives there. They're just waiting for you to take him down."

Mirko looked at Kaine, "Don't fuck up this time." she warned as she jabbed her finger in the teen's chest.

The Sinkhole...

The Assassin grabbed a wad of bubblegum and stuck it in her mouth, chewing on it before blowing a bubble. She looked down at her watch and frowned, "Its been seven hours, does this guy never leave his apartment?" she let out a sigh before standing up, covering up her face with a face mask and putting her hood on to hide her hair. Her eyes began to glow and vibrated for several seconds before she closed them. A smile pursed her lips and she nodded, "So be it." Assassin walked to the edge of the building and grabbed a pipe before sliding down to ground level.

Assassin walked towards the apartment complex, being sure to stay nonchalant. She thought she was going to have some issues because she saw an old woman sitting out front...however she seemed either blind or asleep, so as long as she stayed quite Assassin figured she could sneak by easily. She continued up the stairs, pulling out her phone so she could see the last known location of the call from Kaine's accomplice. She slowly made her way to the third floor and eventually found herself looking at a door with a ton of security, "I see." she nodded.

Reaching into her cloak she pulled out a device and attached it to the middle of the door. The corners of the device spread outwards upon attaching to the door and connected to each other with a thin wire. Assassin simply pressed a button on the main part of the device and a hyper focused laser blasted through and cut a hole through the door by following the wires that connected to the corners. The Assassin smiled as she just tapped the middle of the door to see a large chunk of it fall forward, giving her easy access to the apartment.

Before she entered her eyes began vibrating again. She stopped herself from putting a foot through the door and stepped back. Clicking her tongue she knocked on the door...or rather what was left of it. "I know you have a weapon, put it down, and maybe I'll spare your life."

"I don't talk Moon Speak, so if you want to talk you talk the language of businessmen." Aleks stated. There was a pause and it sounded like he was raking a drink of something. "My govorim na luchshem yazyke!"

"I don't speak Russian, dickhead." Assassin groaned, already she felt this house call was going to be a mentally torcherous, "Just put down the weapon, and maybe I won't kill you."

There was a slight laugh, "Weapon? I have no weapon! Not anymore at least. I drank it all."

So...it was the rare outcome? Lucky me, I guess. Assassin thought. Her eyes began vibrating again and she nodded. She stepped through the hole an was met face-to-face with the Russian man. Aleks was sat at his computer chair, large bottle of Japanese vodka in one hand while a phone was in the other. "Aaaaah-ha, I know you." Aleks chuckled, "You...are The Assassin." he said the last part with a chuckle, "You Americans have such boring names. And I believe that precedent started with that Captain America. Then there was U.S. Agent, Patriot, Star and Stripe for crying out loud! Man wore metal suit, called himself Iron Man. Man controlled thunder and called himself Thor. Man is hitman and is known for headshots, calls himself Bullseye. The list goes on and on. But you!" he laughed, "You just might have the most unoriginal name I've heard since I became a support hero two and a half years ago."

The Assassin let out and annoyed breath. She searched around the room but didn't see anything of note, "Where is it?" she asked, "The data you have on Yoshii Reality. Give it to me." she pulled out her stiletto and pointed it at Aleks' neck. The russian merely laughed at the threat.

"You think I have it?" he chuckled, "I knew I wouldn't make it out of this unscathed, or even alive. I sent that information out long ago, soon every news source in Japan will know what your boss is doing."

"You're lying." Assassin accused, "There still wasn't any information that directly lead to my boss, and everything on Yoshii Reality could be contrived as coincidence or conspiracy theory. Nice try though."

"Eh, you called my bluff...well, half of it. I actually did send it out. You'll just have to fight for it if you want it." Aleks pulled out a burned phone and chuckled, "You want answers, then you can call the number on that phone in couple of hours. If your lucky, someone will pick up." he chuckled.

The Assassin sighed, "I hate when people make things difficult for me." she lunged her arms forward and shoved her blade through Aleks' throat before quickly removing it. Despite the blood loss and him choking on his blood, Aleks continued to laugh. Laugh and laugh until he wasn't able to laugh anymore. "Son of a bitch." Assassin grunted. She grabbed the burner phone and opened it up. There was one contact, unnamed. "Couple hours, huh? Better set up my laptop." She stepped out of the apartment and made her leave from the building, and The Sinkhole in general.

Shitagawa, Musutafu. Just south of the Upper West Side...

"Jesus, what the fuck happened!?" Mirko shouted out. Her and Kaine had traveled roughly twenty kilometers south as officers from several precincts had tracked down Cindershot to what was presumed to be his current place of residence, a mid-sized apartment building. However, it seems that Cindershot caught on to what was going on and decided to set the building on fire. Officers believe it was so he could make an easy escape, but nobody has seen him come out. "How many do we have inside?" she asked.

"Uncertain." an officer replied, "When the building was set ablaze we couldn't get a count of everyone that got out."

"Understood." Mirko nodded, "I'm going in. Kid, you stay here and wait for firefighters."

Kaine recoiled slightly, "What? No."

"I swear to God, I do not have to argue with you!" Mirko growled.

"Miss Mirko, I'm a shit ton faster than you. By the time you are done surveying the lower levels the top level is gonna be collapsed." Kaine rubbed his head in frustration, "Dammit, I know I screwed up, but don't leave me behind to stand around like a jackass. You told me to be a hero my way, and my way is going in headfirst into danger and saving as many people as I can."

Mirko frowned and seemed to be in deep thought, her eyes darting back and forth like she was calculating the consequences. She opened her mouth but was interrupted but the sound of an explosion making glass from a window shatter out to the street below, the increased airflow making the flames grow higher. "Fuck it, fine! You go top, I go bottom, we meet in the middle. Got it?"

"Got it!" Kaine nodded. He fired a webline up and yanked himself to the room where the explosion came from while Mirko dashed around the ground level trying to see if there was anyone trapped.

Kaine swung into the building, flying through the flames and landing in a crouch. "OW! Sonova bitch!" Kaine waved his hand in pain as he had touched a hot piece of metal. "Is there anyone in here!?" Kaine yelled out. Better check the bedroom, just in case. Kaine ran through the room, making his way to the bedroom. He touched the door knob and recoiled back, Fuck! I can't believe I actually went for the door knob in this situation. Kaine waved his hand a bit before setting himself up to kick the door down. He cocked his foot back and launched it forward, kicking the door off its hinges, "Hello?" Kaine did a once through and determined that nobody was in this suite. "Better move along. Fastest way is...through the wall I guess."

Kaine knocked on the wall that was adjacent to one of the rooms, "If you are near the wall, back up, I'm coming through!"

Down below, Mirko had just cleared out the final suite on the ground level, rescuing a couple of high schoolers who decided to take advantage of being home without adults (thankfully they had their clothes on when Mirko got there). "Remember, kids. Villains are the biggest cock blocks. And make sure to have protection on you." the two teens sheepishly nodded to the bunny hero and scurried to safety. Mirko looked at the building and to one of the officers, "Is the kid back yet?"

"We saw him go into the last suite at the top. He should be out soon." Mirko nodded and ran back to the building, jumping up to the second floor so she could start helping people trapped there.

Back with Kaine, he had just managed to get to the last suite on the third floor, thankfully there were very few people in their homes in the middle of the day, however, he had found a young girl, likely in her first year of middle school. She huddled in a corner at the end of the suite as far away from the fire as she could. Kaine coughed as he accidently inhaled some smoke. Fuck, that's thick. Better keep low the best I can. Kaine crouched down and crawled over to the girl, "Don't be scared, I'm here to help." he reached his hand out and the girl recoiled slightly. He saw her eyes stare into his lenses and he nodded, "Hey...it's okay." he lifted up his mask so she could see his face, "I'm just like any other hero. The mask is to scare villains." he smirked. The girl gave a slight smile and nodded.

"Thank you." she said as she took Kaine's hand.

Kaine picked the girl up and held her against his chest. "Okay, I need you to go ahead and take a few deep breaths okay. I'm gonna need you to hold your breath and count to ten. Okay?" the girl nodded. "Great. I'll help you, ready?" Kaine took a breath, "One," the girl took a breath with Kaine, "Two," they both took another breath, "Three!" The girl took a deep breath and held it as her cheeks puffed out. Kaine took a deep breath himself and stood up. One, two, three, four, five... Ring. There it is again, that feeling. Kaine's eyes widened, "Shit!" Kaine backed off as some of the top of the building caved in.

The girl let out a slight scream and Kaine tried to relax her. "It's okay, go back to holding your breath, don't breath in the smoke." The girl nodded and held her breath again. Kaine nodded and dashed towards the exit, he slid under the ceiling debris which collapsed even more and almost hit him. He then jumped up and dove out the window, which turned out to be a lack of judgment as the sudden pressure change caused an explosion that sent Kaine flying outward.

The girl began screaming as they neared the pavement and Kaine quickly fired a webline up and caught himself before the two of them crash landed. "Hey, hey. Relax." Kaine said with a chuckle as he hung upside down, "You're safe now, see?" Kaine flipped the girl to her feet and gave her a light push towards the officers, "Now you stay with the nice officers until this blows over, hopefully you're parents will be back before then." he the shot another webline to zip himself back in the air before swinging himself to the second level of the apartment building.

The first suite Kaine landed in on the second floor he was quick to find someone of need, a middle aged man trapped under a support beam that fell from the room he just came in. Damn, that may have been my fault. Kaine quickly rushed to the man and grabbed the beam, recoiling in pain at the heat, Son of a bitch! Twice!? Twice I did that!? "Help me, please." the man groaned, "It hurts so much."

"Don't worry, I'll get you out." Kaine took a couple of deep breaths and grabbed the beam again, lifting it up and moving it off the man's legs. "How you feeling? Can you walk?"

"Are you insane! I just had a fucking pillar crush my legs, you idiot!" the man snapped.

"Okay, um, rude." Kaine stated as he picked the man up, "I was just asking if everything was alright, give me a break." Kaine fireman carried the injured man out of the building. Kaine nearly dropped the man on the way out as he saw a huge body not too far from the building. "JESUS CHRIST!" Kaine yelled out.

"Hm?" the giant lady, Mt. Lady, leaned down to Kaine, "I saw the smoke from a few blocks back and thought I could be of help." she smiled.

Kaine blinked a few times and nodded, "Yeah, actually if you could carry the civilians I get out of the building to the street that would be great." Mt. Lady smiled and held out a hand. Kaine lifted the man of his shoulder and tossed him into the hands of the second year hero. Now, thanks to Mt. Lady's assist, Kaine was able to go through three more suites with ease and rescue any civilians that were trapped. He also got to take a few mental snapshots at Mt. Lady's famous Mt. Ass. God bless form fitting clothing. Kaine thought with a mental salute.

Kaine entered the next suite of the apartment. He gave a quick look over the rooms before deciding nobody was there. Better make a quick entrance to the next room. he thought. Just like the first suite he had entered, Kaine decided he'd continue through the wall. He knocked on the left wall three times, both to warn any potential people on the other side and also to make sure he didn't hit a load bearing column. Seems like a good spot. "Okay, I'm coming through!" Kaine called out. He prepped himself to go through, but before he could move he felt that ringing once again. The hell is this? It's becoming more persistent now. Suddenly, Kaine felt the world around him slow down. He couldn't explain it, but it was like all his senses became...hyper-sensitive.

He began hearing a crunching sound, like wood breaking. He moved his eyes to the right and again he kept hearing that faint voice. Catch her. Put your arm up. Catch her. Kaine shot a webline and time seemed to go back to normal as the wall practically exploded wirh Mirko flying through. Thankfully Kaine's webline caught her and he was able to pull her to him before she was thrown into the fire.

"Miss Mirko!" Kaine yelled out as he held her in his arms. He could see the large mark on the side of her face as well as some singing on her chest area. Her arms and legs had a few chunks of wood that at splintered off and stabbed into her.

"What a...cheap shot." Mirko groaned.

"Miss Mirko, just relax. I'll get you out." Kaine said with a determined tone.

"NOT SO FAST, KID!" Kaine looked up to see Cindershot, a large bruise on his jaw, burn marks on his arms, a shattered baseball bat in hand and an angry expression on his face. "I'm not through with her, or you! This whole thing is your fault!" he shouted.

"Well good to see you too, Cindy. Also, MY fault? Um, last I checked, you're the one with the combustion quirk, not me." Kaine mocked, "I let you get away earlier. I promise that won't happen again." he threatened, the tone in his voice becoming angrier.

"Yeah?" Cindershot grinned, "Well, then I guess you're on a time limit." Kaine noticed the fire raging around them and he heard the creaking of the wood around him. He nodded and set Mirko down. Cindershot laughed and he flipped the broken bat in the air and caught it, "Pests like you should know your place!" he shouted as he took a swing at Kaine. The teen dodged and datched as the jagged barrel of the bat swung past his lenses. He then quickly ducked to avoid another swing and swept Cindershot's legs out from underneath him. "Catch!" the villain yelled as he tossed the bat in the air and it exploded causing Kaine to cover his eyes.

Damn, Kain thought, I gotta watch out for that stupid quirk of his. "Hey, hero!" Kaine looked up to see Cindershot in the other suite he knocked Mirko through, "The funny thing about fires...is that they usually ruin the integrity of the building. Heheh, a little explosion doesn't hurt either. The ringing came back and Kaine looked up to the ceiling, he gasped and held his hands up as several explosions went off, causing the top suite to start caving into their suite.

Kaine just closed his eyes an prayed that he could hold whatever was coming down, the mountains of debris seemed to pile on more and more. Mirko groaned and tried to stand up, only hitter her head on the ceiling which was barely being held onto by Kaine. "What the hell?" she asked as she rubbed her head.

"Oh, hey Miss Mirko." Kaine greeted, "Hey, if you could do me a favor and go after him so he doesn't get away again. That'd be greeeeeeeat." Kaine groaned as he struggled slightly to hold onto the debris, "Seriously, don't worry about me. I can get out of this. I'll catch up in like thirty seconds." Mirko nodded and dashed after Cindershot, ignoring the pain that was all over her body. Okay, Kaine. You've done this before. Just like the mansion incident. Kaine thought back to when he was at Suda's mansion and he had to lift all that rubble off his body so he could escape. Hell, this is even lighter!

Kaine flexed his muscles and widened his base before lifting the debris up and pressing so his arms were fully extended. Then, Kaine let go of the debris and quickly zipped himself to the hole that lead to the next room. "Woo! I made it!" he cheered. He quickly regained his composure as he saw Mirko fending off Cindershot, she normally would be fine on her own, but because of her injuries she's become a little sluggish.

"DIE!" Cindershot yelled out as he went to throw a pan at Mirko. Kaine had quickly webbed it up and returned to sender before Cindershot could make it combust. "What the hell?" the villain called out in surprise just before getting kicked in the face by a swing kick courtesy of Kaine.

"I thought you said thirty seconds." Mirko huffed out.

"I did, that was twenty-seven." Kaine replied with a light chuckle. Cindershot slowly got up and Kaine squinted his eyes in determination, "Miss Mirko, let's arrest this clown, huh?" Mirko smirked and nodded. Kaine was first to act by web zipping to Cindershot and sending an axe kick which the villain blocked, however, Mirko was quick to his flank and sent a ferocious gut punch to the villain. Kaine reacted quickly by ducking down and performing a flash kick before Mirko jumped up and performed an axe kick herself, sending Cindershot flying to the foor. Cindershot tried to defending himself by throwing something, but it was like every object was out of reach. Kaine smirked and fired a webline and yanked himself to Cindershot, throwing a superman punch, then, he fired a webline in the opposite direction and did the same thing. "You're finished!" Kaine yelled out before Mirko jumped in to finish the job.

"LUUUUUUNA KIIIIIIIICK!!!" the sixth pro hero shouted as she kicked the vaillain through the entrance wall and out towards the officers. Kaine fired two weblines at the new entrance and sling shotted himsekf into the air, he then webbed Mirko and pulled her towards him before spinning her in the air and throwing her again at Cindershot. Mirko laughed as she spun around again and this time kicked the villain down to the asphalt bellow. Finally, Kaine fired two weblines down to the street and yanked himself down where landed over Cindershot and slammed his head into the ground, knocking the villain out cold.

The crowd of civilians cheered, not just for Mirko and Kaine, but also for Mt. Lady who poured the contents of a water tower over the burning building to put out the flames. "Oh what? She showed up?" Mirko asked with an annoyed tone. "That's absolutely bull--HHNG!" Mirko clutched her chest and felt to a knee as the adrenaline began leaving her body. Kaine quickly rushed over to her and lifted her up, bridal carry style. "PUT ME THE FUCK DOWN, JACKASS!" Mirko shook herself free of Kaine's grip and landed in a crouch, hurting herself as she felt the chunks of wood dig deeper into her body.

"She's gonna need to go to a hospital." an EMT first responder said as he approached the hero and the intern.

"Yeah, best get her safe." Kaine said with a nod.

Later at the hospital...

"So, what's the damage?" Kaine asked. He and Mirko were in a local hospital where she had to be treated for the wounds she sustained, of which was a mild concussion and some bruised ribs along with the stab wounds from the would splinters. Mirko was sitting in her bed, bandaged up, in nursing gown, and an IV stuck in her arm.

"They said they're gonna keep me overnight, but I should be fine tomorrow." Mirko replied.

"Well, talk about a good turn around!" Kaine laughed.

Mirko let out a chuckle herself, "Yeah, well, it's what they said after I did some convincing." Kaine cringed slightly. He could only imagine the trouble she put the doctor through. "Head on home, we're done for the day."

Kaine gulped as he turned to leave. I should get this off my chest now. "Um...Miss Mirko...I'm really sorry about today. You wouldn't have gotten hurt if it wasn't for me. I just...I just really wanted to do my best. And I can't do that if I'm sitting on my ass the whole time."

Mirko nodded, "Yeah, you really fucked up." Kaine hung his head upon hearing that, "But...you redeemed yourself, for the most part. So, not too bad, kid." Mirko gave a genuine smile and a thumbs up, "Any day we get to beat the shit out of a villain is a good day in my book!"

That night, Kaine got back to his apartment, tired and feeling as if he'd collapse at any moment. He rubbed his eyes and went to make himself some ramen. After he heated his water and poured it into the cup, he opened the refrigerator to get some milk to drink he saw...a strange package. "What the fuck?" Kaine cursed in English. He looked at the strange envelope to see broken English written across it, as well as the return adress. Aleks? Why didn't he just call. What's with the secrecy? Kaine opened the envelope and out popped a tape recorder. Tape?

Kaine looked at the ancient device with intrigue. Was this some sort of present for Kaine? Aleks did know he liked old junk, but if he actually found a worker tape recorder and tape inside, Kaine would probably lose his shit. On the recorder there was a sticky note that said "Hit Play." Kaine did so and he heard the tape begin. "Kaine, is Aleks." the recording said, "I've sent this tape to you for several reasons. For one, I've told you that I believe I have been compromised, and I think my hunch was correct. I saw someone looking at me today. Staring, you know." he explained, "I've hidden the information on Yoshii and the others within the envelope. I am entrusting it to you because...because I believe by the time you get this I'll be dead."

No way. Kaine thought, No. There's no way. They couldn't have gotten to Aleks, he's one of the best hackers to live. He's paranoid as all hell, he'd see it coming. Kaine grabbed his phone and dialed Aleks' number. Come on, Aleks. Pick up. Pick up, pick up, pick up! The ringing from the phone continued until *click* someone picked up. "Aleks!" Kaine yelled in English, "Oh, am I glad you answered, you gave me a god damned heart attack."

"Well, well, well." Kaine's eyes widened as he heard a familar female voice. It was one he couldn't forget because it belonged to the woman that nearly killed him, The Assassin: "I had saw that someone was gonna call the phone. I never expected it to be the very person I'm looking for."

Kaine's eyes twitched as he felt his blood boil. This woman--no--this monster killed Aleks. He hadn't done anything to her.

"Where the hell are you?" Kaine seethed.

"My, my. So much hostility." Assassin teased. "I never thought a young kid like yourself would have such a hot temper: Kaine Yoshida." Kaine's eyes widened and he became deathly silent, "Oh yes, I know who you are now. I'd like to think a lot of people you fought who don't have the IQ of a door nail know you now, since you televised your powers with your mask off."

"Where are you?" Kaine asked again, "No good reason, mind you. Just wanna get together, have a few good laughs, run my stingers into your corneas!" As Kaine said this the stingers in his left hand extended outward.

"Hehehehe," Assassin couldn't help but laugh at the aggression coming from Kaine, "Just swing around downtown Musutafu for a while. You'll run into me eventually, I promise you. So, what's you're answer? Can the Spider come out to play?"

Kaine seethed and hung up the phone in a huff, throwing it against the wall in frustration and shattering it. "AAAAAAAAAGH!!!" Kaine shouted. He knew he shouldn't...but everything, it's come full circle now. He started his vigilante career because someone close to him was killed by this shebitch. So it seemed only fitting that his potential hero career should end because someone close to him was killed by her as well. Kaine walked over to his drawer and pulled out his vigilante costume. He had thought he wasn't going to need it again...how wrong he was. "I finish this now. All of it. The Assassin, Yoshii, they are all going under. At my hands." With the hatred, and determination filled in his voice, Kaine vowed to finish this fight. For the people of the sinkhole who lost their homes to these bastards; to the people who are being harrassed by these Yakuza, gamgsters snd lowlifes; for Yuki and for Aleks who were killed for no reason. Kaine had had it.

"I promise all of you...This. Ends. Now." Kaine slipped the mask on his face and he jumped out the window in his apartment and began swing to the main district.

To be continued...

A/N: Okay, another chapter done. That means I have like...four maybe five chapters tops until the story is over (for now). I'm doing just this main arc, if I decide to continue I'll just pic up from there. If not, I'm confident in the way that I tell the story that it will be fine as a one-off.

Okay, real quick review time:

Spider-Man No Way Home: It's everything I would have wanted with this type of movie...well, okay, that isn't entirely true. But when it comrs to live action it is everything I wanted.

Hawkeye: Don't know why this isn't talked about more, it is genuinely the best paced and best written show of the Disney Plus MCU shows. Kate is done well, Clint does well, the villain is pretty solid, the secret villain is good too.

The Gunk: It's a cute game, but definitely a one and done title. Plus it's only like 6 or 7 hours if you are looking for stuff. Definitely Game Pass this one if you can.

Okay, I don't have anything else, I'll see you guys soon!
