Vigilante Life: Beginning of the End
Assassin stood atop the building of the Musutafu Shimbun, a news broadcasting station. The lights of the billboards, screens, and signs lit up the streets below. But, for The Assassin, the lights just barely hit the roof where she was at. In fact, the only light that really shined down on her was the STARK Industries sign. She took a deep breath and shut her eyes, when she opened them again they began to glow and vibrate. "I see." she hummed, "He'll be here soon. We'll fight, and I have a counter for his attacks." she smirked. "Well, I better prepare myself."
She unclicked a briefcase that she had by her and unfolded the many layers that held its contents. Extra ammunition, stun batons, grenades, flash bangs, bolas, caltrops, knives, and one single use LAW Rocket Launcher. She grabbed the flash bangs and grenades and cliped them to her belt. She grabbed the LAW and layed it down by a rooftop access point. The baton she placed near the edge of the building. The bolas hung on some HVAC vents. Caltrops placed all over the rooftop, and the spare ammunition was almost always placed near these traps.
He'll be in for a rude awakening. she thought, This time will be different. I'll be prepared this time, and I'm not going to let him get an easy one off. she gritted her teeth, I've studied your moves, I've taken all necessary precautions, I will kill you here and now. This is the end of your story, spider.
Kaine...
Kaine swung through the city, his nostrils flaring after every webline he fired. He was tired, exhausted even, but he wouldn't let this woman get away. Not this time. This time would be different, this time he knew what to expect. He knew she was skilled with all different types of weapons, he knew she was agile and quick. But, she was still human. She wasn't some crazy super villain, she was just some crazy chick with an ugly cape.
She didn't have an enclosed space anymore, she can't get the drop on him like last time. And, there was one thing Kaine knew that she didn't: "I'm stronger this time." he growled. He felt that ringing in his head and his body instinctively jerked back. A gunshot was heard and his webline snapped, sending him to the rooftop below. Kaine quickly flipped in the air and landed with grace into a crouched position. Looking up he found the person he was looking for.
"Well, well, well. I knew you wouldn't be that far off. Gotta say though, took you a little longer than I expected to get here." Assassin said she strutted towards Kaine, her hand already on the hilt of her stiletto. "I see you have an actual outfit this time. Real nice. Did that Red friend of yours make it for you?"
"Shut up." Kaine said quietly in frustration, "You don't get to speak about anything. You wanted to fight, right? You wanted this!?" Kaine reached into his pocket and pulled out the thumb drive Aleks left for him. The Assassin's eyes widened slightly, but she eventually smiled which lead to a chuckle. "Yeah, laugh it up, Chucklefuck." Kaine cursed in English, "Laugh it up all you want. I know you want this data for your boss, because he knows I have something against him. He's threatened by me...and I take it you're threatened by him." Assassin's demeanor changed as she gritted her teeth slightly, "I bet you he wants you to get this data and kill me or it's your ass, right?" Kaine chuckled.
As the two stood and faced each other, the rain began to fall, drops began covering the rooftop turning the it into a dark shade of gray. "Well keep dreaming!" Kaine yelled as he placed the thumb drive back in a pocket, "I'm gonna put a stop to you right here and now, so that you can't harm any more innocent people!"
Assassin rolled her eyes, "Oh please, kid. Nobody is innocent. That girl? She was a prostitute! A low life dreg of society. That Russian? He had to stop being a hero because he released secret information about his government!" she laughed, "You? You're a vigilante, taking the law into your own hands when you could easily have told a hero or the authorities. Everyone is guilty of something, may as well go all out."
Kaine began chuckling at The Assassin's response. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Everyone is guilty for something. We aren't that different I suppose. I also...like breaking the law and beating the ever living shit out of everyone I believe deserves it!" Kaine said as he looked up, an almost sadistic smile on his face, "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to this rematch. But there is one difference between us. You want to kill me to try and make a quick buck...but me? I'm going to kill you for vengeance!" As Kaine said this the stingers popped out of his finger tips and he held his arms to his side, ready to attack.
"Hmph. Seems like you got a new trick." Assassin smirked, "No matter, this fight ended as soon as you landed on this rooftop." she unsheathed her stiletto and pointed it at Kaine while her eyes began vibrate and glow. Kaine made the first move by shooting a webline at her face. Damn! Assassin's eyes went back to normal and she quickly dodged left to avoid getting blinded. I won't be able to use my quirk correctly if this kid doesn't give me some breathing room. Kaine saw that Assassin dodged and began firing web ball after web ball, trying to blind his opponent. Assassin, meanwhile, cut each web ball with expert slices.
Assassin moved forward as Kaine fired web balls and finally got close enough to strike with an overhead strike. Kaine crunched his fingers so thar his five stingers touched together, he held up his hands and blocked the blade. "Impressive!" Assassin grinned, "Have to be the first time I've seen someone block my stiletto." Kaine growled and used his strength to push Assassin off him. Her eyes widened in surprise as she was thrown off balance when she was knocked back. Kaine then followed up by firing a webline and zipping over to The Assassin, sending a powerful gut punch that knocked her to the ground.
After hitting the ground, Assassin recoiled upwards and spun around, making a human buzz saw with her sword, forcing Kaine to back away. She finally slid to a hault in a crouch position. Kaine screamed out a battle cry as he dashed for a follow up. Assassin tensed up and held her sword up to defend herself. Kaine sent the first punch, a right hook. Assassin backed her head up and dodged and tried to counter with an upward slice. The ringing came to Kaine again and he instinctively twisted his body and dodged right so that it went past him. He then placed a hand on the ground and twisted his body so he could send a kick to Assassin's face. However, Assassin was quick to react as she followed through on her swing so that her sword was now over her shoulders and blocked the kick just in time.
Again, the force of the strike was enough to send The Assassin tumbling back. She quickly got to her feet just in time to see Kaine in front of her face ready to kick. She responded with a horizantal slice, "You're mine!" she shouted. Kaine felt the ringing in his head again and timed seemed to slow. He looked down to see the blade coming for the center of his body. He fired a webline to his left and yanked himself to the side, spinning in the process to avoid getting sliced in half. Assassin saw the vigilante change his trajectory and tried to adjust herself. She managed to slice down his calf.
"AGH!" Kaine yelled out as he landed on his back. He gripped his leg and seethed in pain. The cut wasn't very deep, but it went across his entire calf. Kaine got to his knees and turned around...just in time to see the flash bang bounce in front of him. He gasped as it went off and he was blinded by the light, his ears ringing from the disorientation. The ringing then went to his head and his body jerked left, avoiding getting cut down, but still getting a massive slash across his chest. He screamed in pain as he wildly flailed his hands around, hoping he could connect.
"You're a fool." Assassin huffed out as she stabbed forward. Kaine, vision now returned, spun to his right, barely getting knicked by the blade, Assassin saw him change dodge and performed a scorpian kick and knocked Kaine against his head causing him to stumble. While he was disoriented, Assassin sent another slash at his chest, landing a solid blow. "Nothing but a stupid child that doesn't know his place in this world." she kicked Kaine in his knee causing him to buckle and collapse down to the ground, "The reality is this. The strong prosper, and the weak are nothing more than stepping stools. Used only to benefit those who matter and get thrown away like the trash you are." Kaine looked up in pain as Assassin cocked her sword back, "But, I have to say, you are probably still the easiest paycheck I've had. I didn't even have to use my quirk to its full potential."
The Assassin stabbed her stiletto forward, straight for Kaine's head, but stopped...due to Kaine clasping his hands forward and stopping the blade. Kaine didn't even struggle as he stopped the sword, "Easiest paycheck, huh? Believe me, I won't flatter you that easily." Assassin grit her teeth and tried to yank her sword back, but it never moved. Kaine used his strength to force Assassin's arms up as he stood to his feet, moving closer as he moved his hands to hers. Assassin struggled and tried to fight back by sending a kick to his gut, but Kaine grunted and continued getting closer. As he did so, Assassin's eyes began to vibrate.
Finally, Kaine was face to face with The Assassin, standing nearly a whole head taller than her. "I wonder...if this is the first time you've fought someone who's actually stronger than you? Or have you been taking care of the twenty-percent minority group this whole time?" Kaine taunted.
"Oh, believe me...I've dealt with stronger." she grinned.
Kaine scoffed and cocked his head back, sending a headbutt directly to Assassin's nose, breaking it instantly. He then twisted her arms and elbowed her face before getting a full grip on the hilt of her blade and yanked it out of her hands. Finally, he kicked her back and made her roll across the rooftop. Assassin growled in frustration at losing her blade, but quickly relaxed and smirked. "No matter. I've won the battle. I know the outcome." she whispered aa she saw what she had landed next to.
Kaine charged and jumped in the air, firing a webline and yanking himself down to deliver a heavy overhead punch to The Assassin. "GOT YOU!" she shouted as Kaine was close to hitting her. She had picked up the stun baton and jabbed the prod directly into Kaine's chest. The electricity shooting through his body, and even shooting off. Kaine screamed in pain as he his muscles gave out and fell to the ground. Assassin smirked as she kicked Kaine across the face and sent him rolling across the rooftop.
Assassin then sheathed the baton in her sword's scabbard and reached into her cloak towards her back. Suddenly, she pulled out an FN P060, a submachine gun based on the company's reliable P90 model. She spun the weapon with her finger a few times before pointing it at Kaine with a sideways grip. "Get a load of this!" she pulled the trigger and opened fire at Kaine. The vigilante rolled away to avoid getting any fatal injuries, but he did end up getting shot in the arm.
Kaine got to his feet and made a break for cover, the nearest being the rooftop access door. Running as fast as he could, Kaine avoided the gunfire. However, he stepped on some caltrops that Assassin had laid out near the door which caused him to stumble down and land his whole body on the pile. Writhing in pain Kaine crawled behind the wall of the roof door. "Sonova bitch." Kaine groaned as he picked out the caltrops that were lodged in his skin. I have to think of something. he thought, I have to take her down as quickly as possible. I just need a way! Kaine put his left hand down to help himself up when he felt something strange. He looked down and saw the LAW Rocket Launcher lying next to him, ready to be used. "Lord, I thank you." he said as he clasped his hands together.
"Come out, come out, kid." Assassin called as she strafed back and forth, her heels clicking with each step she took. She took in a deep breath and exhaled through her nose, smiling. "Dumbass." Suddenly, Kaine jumped from his cover and fired the rocket launcher. However, Assassin was more than ready, firing the P060 into the barrel of the rocket launcher as Kaine fired the rocket. The rocket exploded right in front of Kaine's body and sent him flying backward. His suit destroyed in many places, including the mask haning on by just strings, his wounds singed and some cauterized. He lied on the rooftop as the rain raged on now, even a flash of lighting lighting up the city for a brief moment. The rain came down and covered Kaine, cooling the burned parts of his body.
"Ha." Assassin held a hand up to her mouth to try and stop herself from laughing, but she just couldn't help it, "HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh my God, you are such a stupid kid!" she wiped a tear from her eye, "Hey, dumbass. You know why I know you will die here tonight? Because I saw it! My quirk, it's the reason why I'm the best there is at what I do. It's why I've killed heroes, villains, vigilantes, and other assassins all stronger and far more experienced than you. I can beat them because I can see every outcome that happens, with my quirk: Foresight!" her eyes began to glow and vibrate as she continued explaining, "The future is uncertain so I can see hundreds even thousands of possible outcomes as long as my quirk is activated. I can act and react, I can predict with near perfect accuracy what attacks you'll throw at me and I can alter any chance you have at winning and place the odds in my favor. I have come too far and done too much in this life just to die to some brat." she held up the gun and pointed it at Kaine as he struggled to even look up, "Bad fortune." she smirked as she pulled the trigger...for nothing to happen.
Assassin blinked a few times as a light blush dusted her face, "That's embarrassing." she frowned. She popped the magazine out and walked towards one of the many spare magazines she had lying around so she could reload. As she picked up the magazine she blinked a few times and frowned, "Oh god dammit." she sighed.
"AAAAAAAAGH!" Kaine shouted as he tackled Assassin to the ground. He cocked his right hand back and sent a punch forward, nearly missing Assassin as his fist was all the way through the concrete, up to his wrist. That was close. Assassin thought. She moved her head to the left as Kaine then sent his left fist forward, gaining the same result he did with his right wrist. "Stop moving!" Kaine groaned out as she gripped the sides of Assassin's head with his hands. He then sent another headbutt to her face before sending a barrage of punches against her. Left hook, right hook, left hook, right hook. Assassin's head continued to jerk left and right, blood spitting out of her mouth.
This damn, kid. Somehow he keeps catching me off guard, like my quirk will see something but miss just one crucial detail. It happened at the mansion too. Assassin thought as she spat out another glob of blood while Kaine raised both his arms up as if he was going to finish the fight. Not a chance. Assassin dug her heeks against Kaine's gut and kicked him off her. She tried to go for the gun but felt her hand get stuck to the rooftop with a web glob. "FUCK YOU!" Kaine shouted as he sent an uppercut powerful enough to knock Assassin backward, but also break her out of the webbing. She then felt her body lift as Kaine brought her to her feet, he then unleashed his stingers and wrapped his arms around her back, latching his stingers into her lungs.
"HYUUUUAAAAGH!" Assassin coughed out, feeling as if air was leaving her body. Kaine then began to squeeze to crush her spine, "AAAAAAAAGH!" This cocky bastard! Before she could have her spine snapped in half, Assassin reached down to her calf and unsheathed a combat knife which she immediately stabbed into Kaine's clavicle.
"AAAAGH!" Kaine shouted as he dropped Assassin, however, before she could back away to gain room, Kaine reached down grabbed the pins of the grenades that were on her belt, as well as the pin from the remaining flashbang.
"Saw that one." Assassin grunted as she already had the belt halfway off and tossed it into the air. The explosions went off, launching both oponents back to opposite sides of the rooftop, as well as blinding both of them, the ringing echoing in Kaine's ears.
Ringing.
Ringing.
It became more prominent, it kept ringing but it wasn't the same ringing that came from the explosions. Kaine held his head in pain again as the ringing increased, his body began to tell him to move...except...it had a voice this time. Many voices...and they weren't his.
Move.
You have to move.
Get out of there.
Why aren't you moving?
The gun.
She's going for the gun.
The gun, right there.
You saw it.
You're in danger.
MOVE!
You have to save yourself.
Kaine's eyes widened as the last voice he recognized so clearly. One he hadn't heard for years. It was his mother.
Why aren't you listening?
You have to listen.
Hurry up!
Move.
Get out of there.
Save yourself.
Getting shot hurts, remember.
Move.
You have to move.
Get up.
You have to save yourself, sweety.
Kaine grabbed his head and yelled in pain as the ringing just increased.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It hurts.
It always hurts, sweety.
"How do I make it stop!" Kaine cried.
Listen!
You have to listen.
Just listen.
Listen.
Why don't you listen?
Listen to it.
Listen to the senses.
Listen to it.
Trust your senses.
Listen.
You have to listen to it, Kaine. You have to trust it.
Kaine's eyes widened slightly as it felt like he could feel everything around him. Time seemed to slow down and he could see The Assassin had just racked her gun.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trust it.
Trus it.
Trust your Spider Sense.
The voices became disjointed again, sounding and feeling more like Kaine's actual conscience and not an amalgamation of voices he didn't know as well as one he did know. It returned to a more inate feeling. Kaine watched as Assassin pulled the trigger and the bullets began flying towards him. He leaned his head back and watched as the first few bullets flew past his eyes. Trust my sense. Listen. She called it...Spider Sense? he thought. Kaine stretched his arm behind him and fired a webline and yanked himself back so he could get out of the firing range.
The Assassin saw Kaine slide himself back and get to his feet and she immediately stopped firing and moved her hand over to him again and began to fire as he stood up. However, to her surprise, Kaine twisted his body and dodged, so she moved her arm and aimed left more, but Kaine just crouched and leaned to his left. When Assassin aimed at Kaine again he fired to weblines forward and pulled himself towards Assassin, sliding along the ground. Dammit! She aimed down, but before she could even pull the trigger, Kaine had jumped and flipped over to her flank. Shit! Assassin sent a backhand but hit only air. Her eyes widened as she felt a hand on her shoulder that turned her around where she was met by a fist to the face that knocked her backward, followed by the gun being yanked from her hands. When she looked up again she saw that Kaine had yanked the gun from her hand with a webline and she was met with the gun hitting the side of her head as Kaine spun it around. Kaine wasn't finished with his barrage as he quickly rushed to Assassin and sent a drop kick that sent her rolling across the rooftop.
What is happening!? Assassin thought as she tried to catch her breath. He was at death's door and now it's like he was given a Full Heal. Not only that...but he's messing with every future I saw. He shouldn't be able to counteract my counters! She looked to the ground and saw her sword. She smirked as she saw the vigilante approaching her. Alright, jackass, let's see how that close quarters combat treats you.
Kaine had nearly reached Assassin when the ringing hit again. Sword? He looked down and saw her beginning to swing for his neck, Oh, yeah. he leaned back and watched as the sword narrowly missed him, then he dodged left and watched as Assassin sent an overhead slice that also went past his body. Finally, Kaine bent his body all the way back so his back was parallel with the ground and saw the sword just barely pass over his chest as Assassin spun around. Kaine then performed a back handspring and landed in a crouch to gain some distance. He and Assassin stared at each other, her nostrils flaring and Kaine could notice the grip on her hilt tighten.
"You're waning." Kaine taunted, "All that confidence in the beginning of the fight is suddenly gone. What happened? So much for easiest fight of your career, huh?" he chuckled which only made Assassin angrier, "Guess you just weren't good enough to take an amateur vigilante, how embarrassing." That set her off. Assassin let out a battle cry and charged towards Kaine. She sent a flurry of slices all of which Kaine dodged with no issue, which only made Assassin angrier.
"You are nothing more than a child!" she yelled out, "You know nothing of the world and you think you can just change it!? Change the order of how society works!?" She would send another slice between each sentence, which Kaine dodged, "Just give up! Accept your place as a nobody from the shit district nobody cares about and die alone like you were always meant to do!" She raised her hands for an overhead slice but felt a punch to her gut thay knocked the wind out of her and made her stumble back a bit.
"You're right." Kaine said with a nod, "I am just some kid from the shit part of town. And maybe I will die alone. But not being able to change how society works?" he chuckled, "Not being able to stop those that have too much power? We'll never really know if I don't try." Kaine let his stingers out and dashed towards Assassin, held his left hand up and blocked her sword attack with his stingers and used his right to jab his stingers into her side before tossing her to the right.
As Assassin recoiled from pain and tried to get to her feet, Kaine was already in front of her. He lifted her up by her neck and brought her to her feet. She tried to slice Kaine, but he grabbed the hand that Assassin had her sword in and punched her in the gut several times with his free arm. Kaine then let go of Assassin's hand and sent a left hook across her jaw that spun her around. He then wrapped his arms around her waist, ready to perform a suplex. NO! I end this here! Assassin thought as she grit her teeth.
While Kaine was ready to do the suplex, he stopped himself as he felt the ringing again. How? he looked over Assassin's shoulder and saw her grip her sword with both hands as she began to point the tip towards herself. Oh. Kaine unwrapped his arms from Assassin and pushed her forward just as she sent the sword through her stomach, in hopes to try and take Kaine down with her. "Ah..." Assassin looked behind her to see Kaine unscathed from the desperation attack, his mask destroyed and torn, only one eye visable and his hair sticking out. "H-How?" she asked as she stumbled back. The rain was pouring down so hard now that as it fell onto the Assassin it was almost immediately washing the blood off her and leaving a large blood puddle where she walked. "I don't understand...I can see nearly every single possibility, I prepared for every eventuality...I-I even prepared counters for your counters...and yet...and yet you still countered them. You broke through my quirk...as if actively changing the future yourself." she spit out a large glob of blood and struggled to stand up right, she had already lost a lot of blood, and the sword wasn't helping her cause. "That...That should be impossible. Unless..." her eyes widened as Kaine stared back at her, a lightning flash showing the anger in his eyes, "Unless you...have pre-cognition too?" she whispered. She stumbled back and she tried to catch herself, but instead she slipped off the ledge of the building and began falling down.
In all my years...I couldn't prepare myself for a quirk that could somehow counter mine. Assassin thought as she fell, And now...my life is forfeit...now that I found an eventuality I couldn't prepare for. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact of the ground...but that never came. Instead she felt pressure on her chest as she stopped in air, only two stories down from where she fell. He...he saved me?
Kaine heled onto the webline and began ro pull, bringing The Assassin back to him. When she was close enough he grabbed her with his arms and slowly pulled the sword from her stomach. She let out a cry of pain and Kaine could see the blood starting to drain from her stomach. Thinking quickly he held his hand agaist her open wound and fired his webs, sealing up the wound, stopping the blood flow and giving her some extra time. "W-Why?" she asked, barely able to talk, "Why would you save me?"
Kaine kneeled down next to The Assassin, his breath staggard. He was quiet. Like he was planning something, or waiting for something. Finally, his expression changed as he started to grit his teeth, "Because I wanted to kill you myself!" he growled as he wrapped both his hands around Assassin's throat and squeezed. Immediately she oxygen was cut from her. She tried to struggle but was in too much pain to do so. "I will end this myself. I will bring vengeance to Yuki, to Aleks, and to every other innocent you've harmed. I will end you and Yoshii." he growled, "I...I..." he continued to strangled Assassin and he stared into her eyes. Despite everything, despite this being what he's wanted...he couldn't do it. "I can't!" he yelled out as he slammed her head against the ground and let go of he throat. Immediately Assassin began gasping for air as Kaine began slamming the ground next to her, "Why?" he cried, "Why? Why, why, why, why, why, why, WHY!?!" he continued to cry and slammed thr ground, "Why can't I kill you? Every time. I want to use my full strength, I wanted to finish the fight at any time...but at the last second...I stopped." his crying turned into sobs, "It isn't fair! Why won't my body let me kill you!"
So...he was holding back the whole time. The Assassin thought as she was now abke to breathe semi-regularly. I was the fool. The fight was over before it began...but for me. I never stood a chance.
As Kaine continued to sob, he heard a ringing. But not like the ringing from his Spider Sense, no. It was ringing from a phone. Kaine reached into The Assassin's pocket and pulled out her phone which had an Unknown caller ID. Kaine answered and put it to his ear. "So...you defeated my assassin." a male voice said over the phone.
"Yoshii..." Kaine growled.
"I suppose this means you want to finish matters, eh, vigilante? I suppose you deserve that much."
"Just tell me where you are you scumbag so I can finish you off here and now!"
"Where am I?" he laughed, "Where I've always been. Yoshii Reality offices. You can't miss our building, believe me. I await your arrival...Kaine Yoshida." with that the phone clicked and the signal was lost.
Kaine crushed the phone in his hand and threw the scrap to the ground. Yoshii Reality...I have to finish this. Kaine took a step and fell to a knee in pain as he felt the adrenaline finally leaving his body. "Shit...if I go now...I'll just get killed on the spot. I need...I need to rest...and heal." he was about to jump off the roof and swing away, but he looked back to Assassin and sighed, "I...shouldn't leave her here."
Kendo...
Kendo sighed as she sat on the floor of her appartment. She hadn't had a particularly long day, but interning for Uwabami was tiring in its own way. Well...interning was a loose definition of what her and Class A student, Momo Yaoyorozu were doing...more accurately they were managering. Setting up appointments for the hero, making sure she has the right make-up, having her show up on time for commercials...being background characters in those commercials. Her eye twitched in frustration as she thought back to it. "Honestly, we haven't done anything heroic this week at all. Tokage told me she actually got to do some hero work at her internship." she sighed, "I wonder...I wonder what Kaine is doing?" she blinked a few times and slapped her face as a blush began coming over her, "Why am I thinking about him? Just because we...we..." she thought back to her kissing him and all she could do was bury her face in her hands, "AHHHHHHH."
Suddenly she heard a knock at the door and shw jumped to her feet, "That's strange." she looked at the clock and saw it was 11 o'clock, "Who'd be here at this hour?" the knocking became more persistent and she began speed walking to the door, "I'm coming, hold on!" She went to open the door and realized she was only in a loose shirt and spats. Shit...I'll just open it a little, see what they want and send them on their way. She reached her hand forward and unlocked the door and then just cracked the door open, "Hello?"
"Kendo..." Kendo jumped back in surprise as she saw Kaine, battered, bruised, burned and bleeding, standing at her doorstep with a strange black outfit on.
"Oh my God, Kaine!" Kendo opened the door and Kaine practically collapsed onto her body. Probably would have crushed her if Kendo didn't grow her hands to catch her friend. "Kaine, what happened to you?"
"Kendo...I need...I need a place to rest." Kaine groaned.
"You NEED a damn hospital, c'mon, I'll help you there."
"No!" Kaine jerked Kendo's hands off him and he just wrapped his arms around her for a hug, "Please...I'll explain everything...I just need a place to rest."
Kendo's eyes widened. Everything told her that Kaine was in some sort of trouble and that he may have done something wrong...but another part of her told her to listen. "O-Okay. Come inside, let's get you cleaned up." Kendo lead Kaine inside and looked out the door to see if anyone was looking before she closed the door and locked it.
To be continued...
