Summary: Before reaching Canaclave, Larson and Hexy are jumped by a mysterious light. What could it be?

It was becoming sunrise at around this time, and Route 218 was taking us right to Canaclave City. We stopped long enough for me ti pick some berries for her and the pokemon, including the new Giratina. I even caught him up to speed but he seemed to care little.
I had noticed that Hexy still had a depressed look, so I went to sit next to her on the picnic blanket while Mimikyu tried playing with Giratina and Frillish and Banette seemed to be arguing in their own languages. "What's wrong? You're not eating your oran or sitrus berries? Want me to try and steal some beedrills honey instead? I can do that...with Giratina of course".
She took a breath, "Sigh, It's not that. I...still miss Spiritomb. He, they, didn't really do too much but they did always protect me and, they were kind of like family".
I could relate, "I know how you feel. Ethan, Hurry, Celebi and even his mom were mine".
Hexy looked me in the face understandingly, "Yeah, I suppose you would. What did happen to the mother anyways? You lived on your own when I met you".
I tried to recall, "I think she...killed herself upon not hearing from her son for all these years. She must've thought he was dead. I hope she isn't right. Either way I feel sorry for her. She raised me where the ghost type 'parents' didn't. She treated me like her own son. I did leave on my own though, I was never kicked out. In hindsight...maybe I'm to blame for leaving her all alone".
Thinking on it, I felt depressed as well, "I really hope that wasn't the case. Poor woman".
Hexy put a hand on my knee but I shook off my own feelings, "Sorry about that. I was trying to cheer you up. So tell me, what can I do to make you feel better"?
She couldn't think of anything, "I don't think you can. I just need time. Thanks for trying to comfort me though. I do still have Sableye".
I added in, with a smile, "As well as me and my pokemon".
As we walked more, it felt like this route would never end. Meanwhile, everyone was in their pokeballs, minus Frillish and Banette who were still arguing about something. Frillish flew up to my side and started to cuddle in her sweet voice, by pressing her face against mine as usual.
Banette then hovered over at my other side and took my arm in hers, beginning to cuddle as well. Looking between both girls, Frillish seemed to get jealous, 'Frill, frill'! Banette gave a mischievous smile with her zipper mouth, 'Bane bane, ette'.
Frillish tugged on me, then Banette did the same, and soon enough it was a tug of war. Pulling me back and forth, I shoved them both off, "What's the damage girls? You both need to go back into your balls"?
Frillish looked embarrassed by her actions. 'Frillish', she said in an apologetic tone. Banette just giggled. I walked over to her, "What's up with you, huh? Back to your old ways of just being a pain"? She frowned and got quiet. "That's right, keep it that way…".
She grinned and tugged my face close to hers and pulled me into a kiss after unzipping her mouth. Her breath was cold, but her zipper lips were warm at the same time. I jumped back, and Banette stared at me with half closed eyes, 'Banette, bane'.
This sent Frillish into a rage as she tackled and smacked the ghost type with her tentacle. Banette was giggling but also hitting back. It was violent but it wasn't friendly either, "Knock it off you two"!
Hexy came over to try and break it up too, but she paused, pointing behind me. "What's that"?
Turning around, a bright purple flash shined and blinded all four of us. Opening my eyes, I found myself on the ground with my face to the grass. Picking myself up, I noticed something wrong; the girls were gone. "Hexy? Friliish? Banette"?
The woods seemed completely deserted, but a few moments later, I heard a familiar voice. "Larson".
I turned around. Could it have been? Waving me down and running over in a backwards cap and hoody; Ethan. I nearly cried, "Ethan"?! I ran towards him and we embraced in a huge hug.
"I missed you so much", I balled my eyes out.
He held me tightly, "Likewise 'Grey'. Likewise".
Behind him were Hurry and Celebi. Hurry jumped into my arms and we both cuddled a little, "Aw, hey little guy. Still haven't evolved yet"? Celebi flied around me in circles, 'Cele cel bi'. Ending her glide right in front of my face, she held me closely and gave me one of her heavenly kisses on the lips. 'Cele', she gazed at me both happily and seductively.
Ethan laughed, "Heh, she stills likes you".
Hexy, Frillish and Banette as well as Mimikyu came out of the woods. "Oh, there you are", she called out. "We saw a purple flash and got lost. I heard your voice and we regrouped.
I looked down to Mimikyu, who was usually quiet, "What's wrong buddy"? I then noticed, "Hey, I didn't let you out. How'd you escape your pokeball"?
Ethan began to speak to me again, "So, you finally caught yourself some pokemon? I'm impressed".
I acknowledged, but followed up with an important question I'd been holding onto. "Thanks. It was tough work, but worth it. They're good friends. But speaking of goods friends...why did you NEVER try to contact me? No phone calls, letters. Not even a face time call on the computers. I thought you were dead"!
He slowly nodded his head, "I know. I'm sorry. But I had to go off and do my own thing. Plus, it took me years but I finally did it. I got...these". He took a huge box out of his backpack and slowly opened it in front of my eyes. EVERY single badge from Kanto, Alola, Galar, Johto, Sinnoh, Kanto, Hoenn, Fiore, Almia to even the Sevii and Orange islands. He gave the biggest smile I've ever seen him give, "I'm officially a pokemon master".
I knew this was what he always wanted, "Congratulations buddy".
Ethan was very excited, "Plus, now you have your own pokemon we can be trainers together and I can give you pointers. As frineds AND brothers".
I was extremely happy for him, but a little skeptical. "You mean you beat EVERY single gym leader across the regions with just Hurry and Celebi"?
He nodded, "Why? Don't think I could do it"?
I put my arms up, "No, nothing like that. Just...very surprised. Anyways, I've had quite the journey myself so far".
We sat down and I told him all about it. "We've been looking for you for probably a couple weeks now. We killed an evil dsuclops that took over Pallet Town, sent an evil gardevoir to literal hell, I captured a unique pokemon I'm not even sure is a pokemon. I fought a psychotic gym leader named Sabrina, who even gave me this badge. Also, I caught Giratina".
Ethan's eyes lit up, "You did all of that? Color me impressed alright. I tried to get Giratina myself but he fled even after all that hard work. Just for you to actually capture him? You must really be a good trainer now. I'm proud. Plus, you even got your very own badge. Wow".
He then asked about my friends, "So, what's with the Frillish and Banette"?
I looked back to see the girls were actually getting along despite the fact they had been attacking each other not long ago. "Well, I saved Frillish from a sharpedo, and she in turn saved me from MissingNo. That unique pokemon; some kind of weird sentient computer chip that can transform. She seems very affectionate towards me".
I went on, "Banette, we encountered in Turnback Cave. She was trying to scare us until we recruited her. But she's a real pain. She kissed me just to set off Frillish, er maybe she actually wanted to…? Either way, they fought over it. But weirdly enough they seem to be getting along now".
He pointed to Hexy next, "What about the hex maniac? She's real pretty I have to say".
I agreed, "Yeah...she is. Despite what trainer type she, she's really swell. She and I have been through the wringer so far, between actual hell and trying not to get killed".
He eventually got back to my questions, "So. Where did come from anyways? We've been looking for you and we just so happen to find you on the route to Canaclave? What were you doing there"?
Ethan tried to explain, "That was where I got my last badge. I just became a master. I was heading back to Kanto and got the coal badge".
I corrected him, "Kanto is the down south from here. Not this way. Come on, you know every region in and out. Also...coal badge? I think you mean the mine badge"?
He bonked his head lightly, "Oh, right. Sorry, it's been a long day".
I became expressionless, "Hm".
Ethan put an arm on my shoulder, "Come on. Let's get back home together. Hexy and your pokemon can come too. It'll be great".
I began to frown, "Listen. Um, Ethan? Your mother's dead".
He simply said, "Oh".
This got my attention, "Oh? That's it? Your mother killed herself because she thought you were dead and you never checked on her. All you have to say is, 'oh'? Seeing everything around me was falling apart, I realized something.
I stood up, "You know what I think? I think you're not Ethan".
He stood up with me, "Larson, you know me. I…".
I cut him off, "No. None of this makes any sense whatsoever. Who are you, faker"?
He lowered his head and shook, "Sigh. You couldn't have just let me and you have our fun. I tried to give you everything you wanted".
I was getting irritated, "WHO are you? Where are my friends"?
The impostor again shook his head, "Don't worry about them. They're all having pleasant dreams...I'm making sure of it. Unless they resist...like you. But now that you know, I guess I'll just have to get my entertainment from giving you nightmares".
He called to the fake Hurry, "Cyndaquil, use Flmaethrower". The pokemon illusion blew fire at me but I managed to run away and get some distance. Then he called Celebi, "Use Psychic". The fake Celebi took hold and tossed me into a tree.
I reached into my backpack, but found no pokeballs. "What"?
The impostor chuckled, "You're in my world. No pokemon for you".
The fake Hurry then Tackled me onto the ground as I stood up, and the Celebi tossed a green Energy Ball at me. It hurt so bad, "URGH". The faker walked over in a condescending tone, "Should've just let me give you your fantasies. I'm sorry it has to be like this. But take comfort knowing your pokemon and human friend are happy".
I stood up with the strength I had left in me and grabbed him by the hoody to hold him up, "This is a dream then, right? Well. It's my dream...so I dream for those illusions to disappear".
To my honest surprise, the Celebi and fake Hurry vanished. The fake Ethan was shocked, "But...how? How are you resisting"?
I socked him in the jaw, "No more games. Tell me WHAT you are".
Another purple flash occurred, and this time I was awake. Looking around myself, Hexy, Frillish and Banette were sound asleep but Hexy was notably tossing and turning. I gritted my teeth, "She must be resisting like me". I shook her hard but she wouldn't wake up. "Come on Hexy".
Then I was a pokemon appear above them all. It looked like a floating severed greenish head with long hair. Red eyes with yellow irises and a flowing little 'dress' where the neck would be. Also there was a red beaded necklace around it's neck.
I took out my pokedex, "Okay, what's this thing"? The device explained, 'Misdreavus, the screech pokemon. Seldom seen by humans, it uses any means necessary to absorb the life energy of humans through illusions are nightmarish dreams as well as fantasies. The nourishment it gains from fear sustains it. It is also known to sneak up on and scream into a person's ear to scare them with its loud shrieks'.
I said to myself sarcastically, "Well, that's just fantastic".
The misdreavus seemed to be waiting for a battle, so I took out a pokeball. "Come on out Mimikyu". I looked up at the misdreavus, "One way or another you're releasing my friends".
The pokemon summoned a Shadow Ball from its head and shot it out, but Mimikyu swiped it away with his claws, 'Kyu'.
I gave the order, "Use Dazzling Gleam". He created a bright flash of quasars around himself that injured and briefly blinded the misdreavus. After the pokemon recovered its sight, a Psybeam was blasted from its necklace. The beam was pink and zigzagged like lightning, hitting Mimikyu.
Taking the hit, he followed up with another attack. "Mimikyu, use Dark Pulse". A black wave of energy that knocked misdreavus into the ground. The pokemon started to weep a little bit. Mimikyu, walked over to check on it, "Mimikyu, wait". Sure enough, the misdreavus gave a grin and looked at him with sweet eyes and gave a kissing face. Also a large purple heart shot out and hit him.
I called out, "Mimikyu, are you okay"? He was blushing through the outfit near his real eyes and completely in lust, as misdreavus had used Attract. That meant it was a female, for what good that knowledge did. He just stood there, eyeing her until she shot him back at me with a Shadow Ball and giggled.
I was angered, "Goddamnit Mimikyu. Here. Eat this". I handed him a mental herb I had picked up on our route travels. Some kind of cyan leaf meant to cure this lust from a pokemon's mind. Maybe a human's too? Regardless after eating, his blush went away and he seemed to be back to normal and not a drooling idiot.
"You okay buddy? Good. Now use Shadow Claw". Like usual, he shoved his black claws into the ground, which slinked along the ground and popped up next to misdreavus to slash at her. Finally, misdreavus, was finished. She fell to the ground for real. She didn't faint, but she definitely wasn't able to move much now.
I was then happy to see, as Hexy and my pokegirls woke up from their dreams, or nightmares. Hexy rubbed her eyes and came over, almost immediately getting it, "So. That's what the flash was. I should've guessed. Damn thing gave me nightmares. Let's finish it off".
She looked up at me with her big red and yellow eyes. She then said in an apologetic tone it seemed, 'Misdreavus. Dreav'. I sighed, "I think...I think her intentions were true. She wanted to make us happy".
Hexy couldn't agree, "What? You forgive her"?
I shook my head, "No. She definitely deserved to get the snot beaten out of her. But, I don't think she deserves death. Maybe, if she really does want to make up for it. I could use another pokemon. I mean, Frillish convinced me to capture MissingNo, and both Giratina and Banette joined us. I think we should give her a chance".
Hexy gave in, "Okay. If you think it's the right call".
As a show of good faith, I handed the misdreavus an sitrus berry. "Here. This should heal you up a little". Looking up at me, then to the berry a couple times, she was hesitant but eventually took a bite. She then floated up to my face with a sad face. 'Misdreav. Mis mis, drea', I think she apologized. I offered, "Would you like to come along with us"?
She nodded her head, or body, and I took out a dark ball. Pressing the button manually, I sucked her in as I held it in my hand. A few blinks later, and it stopped. I had caught a misdreavus. Then I released her, giving Mimikyu a proper rest as well as the other girls, leaving just her, me and Hexy for a bit. "Okay, let's get to Canaclave then. I'm sick of this place".
Hexy agreed, "Yeah, let's. Maybe we should talk about our nightmares on the way there though. I'm morbidly curious what you saw".
As we walked, in the corner of my eye I saw two more shiny unowns; an 'L' and an 'I'. I knew they were trouble, but I just ignored them this time. I figured we'd just leave them alone.
