The next day, the travelers woke up, and came to the common area to find the primordials that brought them to this world waiting for them. They bowed awkwardly, and the primordials shrank to more mortal friendly sizes. Still, they were eight feet tall, and had their great auras around them.
"It is time for us to give each of you a gift, for you to succeed easier in the challenges to come." Gaea stated. "This place that you have established, this warehouse, it will remain standing for ages to come, and nothing can destroy it short of destroying the planet. I command it, by my right as the earth."
She looked at Hazel and said, "Come forward my child." Hazel moved forward with fear, having not forgotten drowning in Alaska, and kneeled. Gaea paid this no heed, and said, "You have suffered greatly in your short life. mostly because of your gift of riches. As mother earth, I remove the curse of misfortune from your summoned riches. You can now summon any riches you desire, fully consciously. as for your command of magic, you can summon the mist easily, as if you were a daughter of Hecate." She turned towards Katie and and said, "Your powers over plants were greater than your mortal siblings, but now they will rival a minor god of agriculture."
Ananke stepped forth, and commanded, "Come before me, Frank Zhang." Frank came forward, and kneeled. "You have lived your life in fear since learning of that charred stick. From this day forward, your life is tied to that piece of burned wood no more. Your destiny is your own. So I have declared it, as is my right as the goddess of destiny."
Eros summoned Piper and said, "You are a very gifted daughter of Aphrodite. Your mastery of charmspeak is second to non among mortals. I have decided to give you control of lust, so that you can curse your enemies with an orgy worthy of Slaanesh." at hearing this, Leo and Frank shuddered, having read about Slaanesh prior to coming here. Eros winked at them, and they shivered in their boots from fear.
Nyx called for the Stoll brothers and said, "Your powers of stealth and moving unnoticed shall be unmatched at night. You can only be found if you want to be found, no matter the lighting or the mortal detection devices."
Erebus looked at Nico and said, "A few months ago you were in danger of fading into the shadows, never to return. you would become incorporeal, and slowly lose your mind. you stopped using your power over shadows and it's showing. You are already more corporeal. but you should fear the shadows no longer. moving through shadows is not as taxing as it was before, and can remain incorporeal indefinitely, without the dextrous effects on your mind.". Thanatos came forward and said, "My father has given you a worthy gift, but I want to give you something else. From this day forward, when there are no bodies to heed your summons, souls of the afterlife shall answer your call, and become corporeal for a brief time."
Nemesis asked for Annabeth, and she came forward and sunk to a knee. "Your mind is your greatest weapon, as is fitting for a child of Athena. But a mortal mind can still reach an upper limit. I can make you perceive the world and analyze information faster, but in balance, you will have a half hour of very bad headache for every eleven hours of use."
Annabeth asked, "How bad is the headache?"
"As bad as reducing your mind to that of a merely above average smart mortal. But the pain would be agonizing."
After thinking for a few minutes, weighing the pros and cons, she decided that she could work with that, and accepted the boon.
Hemera turned to Will and said, "You are a son of Apollo, and you have his gift of healing. The light of Day will energize you, sharpen your mind, and make your healing more potent. take this amulet, and after absorbing the sunlight, you can draw the power of the sun from it."
Aether locked eyes with Jason, and said, "I am the god of the heavens, the upper skies. You can breathe in the air that only gods may breathe, and you can you can bring that air to the surface of the earth, in any quantity that you wish." Jason looked unsure, but after half a minute, a smile came to his lips, realizing that the possibilities would be very practical.
Tartarus looked at Leo, making him gulp thickly and fall to his knees and bow his head. In his terrible voice he said, "I will give you this tonne of metal from the Pit, and the ability to work with it safely." At hearing this, a mad gleam came to Leo's eyes, making Jason and Piper concerned. with a smirk in his voice, he said, "Do with it as you please."
Pontus and Thalassa turned to Percy, and Thalassa said, "The monsters of the deep will obey your command now, son of Poseidon. They will recognize our blessings on you." Gaea stepped closer and said, "You are the son of the Earthshaker, yet you rarely use this gift. With my blessing, the Earth shall obey your command easier."
The Primordials all looked at Reyna, and she stepped forth, kneeling in the middle of them. "We have seen what you have done in your life, Reyna Avila RamÃrez-Arellano. There was plenty of grief in your short life, and yet you stand before us. Your sacrifices shall not be unrewarded. As you have given your strength and courage to those that you lead to battle, so shall the hopes and dreams of humanity give you strength, and courage, and the will to fight the battles to come." chronos said aloud. "And when we succeed, should you wish it, you shall have peace for the rest of your life." Reyna heared the last part in her head, and bowed respectfully, not showing any outward signs.
Ananke stood befor the demigods and said, "We have given you the tools for this campaign, heroes. On April 10th, you will meet a girl in a black, peculiar costume, battling for her life. Her heart is in the right place, and she has the will necessary to accompany you in your journey. She is in a hard place at life, take her under your wing, and she will help you in the battles to come. Until that abomination of the sea, the Leviathan attacks, you will be acting as common Parahumans, but after that, the war will begin in earnest. Now go forth heroes, in the name of the gods, the gods will be with you."
The young heroes spent the next fourteen days till the 10th of April training with their new powers, and getting used to use them in battle. Jason could now use his powers over the air to thin the air around one person, or thin it in a general area except a select few. Percy and Frank volunteered, and found out that he could make breathing really hard, or thin the air so much that they fell unconscious in seconds. After Ananke severed the tie between his life and the firewood, Frank was more relaxed, as if a weight was removed from his shoulders. Annabeth took the time to find the limits of her new ability, and after using it for thirteen hours and not getting a headache on the eleven hour mark, and then having a bigger headache than the previous ones for the half an hour, found that it was not as enjoyable and good as it seemed. She would hather a lot of unwanted and painful information from something or someone that she really could do without. Like finding out that there used to be a lot of spiders on the wall of the warehouse that was one of her walls. Or the wierd fetishes of her fellow demigods. Or_ You get the idea.
Piper found out that what Eros said was the peak of her gift, and that she could passively use it to increase the lust of her opponents, and terribly distract them. This, with her charmspeak, would be an invaluable asset in crowd control.
Katie Gardener found out that she could turn people into plants, to quier terror of Nico after his stint as a corn.
Reyna was more relaxed, feeling and drawing strength from the goodness of the world having done wonders to her psych. She smiled easier, her body was less rigid, her eyes shone with content.
they had assembled their chariots, seven in total, each being pulled by two horse automatons, and made unbreakable by enchantments. Leo used the Archimedes Sphere to make commination devices for them, made untraceable by mortal means, and hidden in their helmets.
They spent a few days roaming the city, gathering information about the local Parahumans, and the areas controlled by the gangs, and how to counter them.
Finally, it was April the 10th, and they went around the city in pairs, to look for the mistery hero.
