Chapter 31
James's Study
"So how is life with newborn twins?" James asked trying to get rid of the awkward silence between himself, Frank and Sirius for the past twenty minutes they had just sat in his study in silence as Frank glared at him obviously angry at him for something however he wasn't exactly sure what Frank was angry at him for sure he had a few ideas, but he wasn't absolutely certain
"Good Life with Eir and Aeson has been great so far I mean they are only a week old, but it has been great, and the triplets adore their little brothers so much" Frank answered "It was a little hard the first night or so, but we have it under control now went shopping to get some extra things as we were only expecting one"
"Wait only expecting one?" Sirius cut into the conversation
"Yes, Eir was hidden Juliet only saw Aeson on the ultrasound, and the spell on detected one baby it rarely fails but it does happen sometimes" Frank answered "Alice was exhausted after the birth, and Eir was breeched legs first when it is supposed to be headfirst. Anything else you want to ask?"
"Do you think you may be able to talk to Remus about seeing us again?" Sirius asked
"That depends on how things go here especially how things go with Lily and the Mrs however you may need to dial back on the letters maybe one every couple days or weeks or maybe stop for a while you also may need to accept that he is not ready to see you and may never be it's sad but it's true" Frank answered "Anything else you want to ask Sirius I can see you are holding something back, Black"
"Regulus" Sirius said
"Ah, you want me to see if he will meet with you?" Frank inquired
"All I'm asking is you see if he will meet up with me once just once and see how things go he is my little brother I miss him hell I miss Marls and Dorcas as well Marls always called me out on my bullshit and Dorcas was a good butterbeer drinking buddy"
"I'll consider it but ultimately it is up to Regulus, and you can understand if he never wants to see you again" Frank "After how you treated him"
"It's one of my biggest regrets along with well you know," Sirius said Frank nodded understanding what Sirius meant "I mean I don't even know when my nieces and nephews birthdays are or their names heck I don't even know what years they were born besides Alsephina and Aquila" Sirius ranted
"Black!" Frank said after ten minutes of Sirius ranting about his regrets with his brother Regulus, Marlene, and Dorcas distance themselves from Sirius, Lily, and James after October 1981, when their favoritism became obvious, and they couldn't stand to be around it
"Yes" Sirius answered
"Dorcas and Regulus have Alsephina Asterope born the twenty-seventh of October 1980, Phoenix Pyxis born the third of January 1984 and are currently expecting Scorpius Regulus Black" Frank informed him "Regulus and Marlene Aquila Astrea born the first of August 1980, Orion Antares and Evanora Cassiopeia born the fourth of September 1982, Solaris Izar born 1984 November sixth and Alphard Cygnus Black born the sixth of august 1986," Frank said as he wrote it done on a piece of parchment and handed it to Sirius. "Don't lose it maybe send something for your nieces and nephews birthdays at least one of them is approaching shortly"
"Thank you," Sirius said taking the piece of parchment from Frank and placing it in the pocket of his black leather jacket"
"How have Dorcas and Marlene been beside for the whole Dorcas being pregnant again?" James asked
"Well Dorcas is pretty sure this is going to be her last baby and Marlene is thinking that she is going to try for one more and then Regulus is having a sterilizing potion apparently according to Dorcas and Marlene but I'm not sure he is too keen on that idea at least not yet" Frank answered
"I'm surprised Alice hasn't at least suggested that you take a sterilizing potion yet" James laughed
"I mean it's been suggested but that was mostly when Alice was in labor for hours and was tired. She sometimes gets mean when she's in labor. But I have a look into it there are several sterility potions which you usually have to request from St Mungo's." Frank answered
"Not asking for any particular reason but did you find one that you thought you might take?" James asked early now that his last sample was gone and his chances with Anna were ruined he was going to look into a sterilizing potion so Lily couldn't trap him again
"Yeah, I with the help of Eloise found two top contenders one was Finite Sterilise which has no antidote, and Finite Familia which has an antidote if you were to take Finite Familia and then decided you wanted to reverse it you would have to take a dose every day for a week and then your fertility should be renewed" Frank answered " I looked into one in 1982 but after Clementine was born unexpectantly Alice decided she didn't want him to take one her reason being is that she wanted Clementine to have a sister close in age to her Alice said she had difficulty connecting with most her sisters especially those who were a part of a multiple you know Twins, Triplet or Quadruplet due to the significant difference between three ages. Clementine and her sisters at the time Hyacinth, Poppy and Minerva were significantly older than Clementine, Clementine and Hyacinth were seven years and eight months apart and Poppy and Minerva were just over seven years older than Clementine"
"What about now?" James asked
"I don't know I'll have to discuss it with Alice it affects her as much as it affects me and she's my wife this is her decision as well as it is mine," Frank said "You know, we are a team she has as much say in this as I do, and it works both ways"
"If had to guess what do you think Alice would say?" Sirius asked
"I don't know most of the children were surprises and if it happens then it was meant to be and if it doesn't then it obviously wasn't meant to be" Frank answered " I love my family exactly how it is but I don't think I would be against it expanding at some point maybe not right now but maybe in several years when Clementine starts Hogwarts but again Alice has just as much say in this as me if not more I mean she is the one who has to carry the baby or babies, has morning sickness amongst other things and eventually has to give birth to the baby or babies.
"That's considerate of you putting her wants above your own" Sirius mumbled
"She's my wife if she is happy I am happy, "Frank said, "So Sterilising potion does this mean you and Lily are done having children?"
"I am I can't bear this anymore I know that my mum had nineteen losses over thirteen years, and I was a miracle baby, but I can't go through this anymore I mean adoption s always an option and I love Henry" I'm not getting my hopes up with this Baby," James said "I mean if I get a sterilizing potion Lily can't try and trap me"
"Trap you?" Sirius inquired
"My sperm sample for the Embryos was split into six and five were used for embryos the other was misplaced which the clinic found recently. They sent me a letter which Lily opened and read and then she proceeded to hide the letter, go to the clinic and had herself inseminated and then told me she was pregnant after I told her about Anna at first I thought she cheated on me as well but as it turns out no she didn't. I realized that after she handed me the letter from Lisa McCoy she works at London wizarding memorial wizarding, and they recently took over the fertility clinic that housed my original sperm sample that was used to make the emembryosThe clinic was a complete disaster and they had just no finished sorting through all of their mistakes when she owled me.." James explained
"That's messed up Prongs," Sirius said
"Is that why you wrote those terrible letters to Anna?" Frank asked wanting to confirm his and Alice's suspicions
"Yes Lily made me" James confirmed "I'm not sure what to do"
"It's not like I can leave her now Anna won't take me back or I would be surprised if she ever forgave me. If Lily loses this baby I'll be the jerk who left his wife after she suffered another loss but if she doesn't lose the baby I'll be the cheating husband who left his wife after she finally could provide an heir or heiress, either way, Lily will be seen as the victim, and I'll be the villain when really we are both guilty of something and are at fault" James ranted
"Have you considered couple therapy, I mean if you really want to try and make this work. Sometimes it's better if couples separate look at Marlene's parents it is better that they separated right?" Frank inputted
"Right she was better of with them split up a lot happier too," James thought out loud "But where would you even find a decent couple therapist?"
"You should try Dr. Maria norweski and Dr. Thomas Solano they are a married couple and both skilled therapists you can even do sessions with both of them" Frank mentioned
"How do you even know this?" James asked
"After Alice took me back she request that we see a therapist. She said that both sets of her parents saw one actually they saw these very same Couple therapist/ marriage counselors. It helped them so Alice thought it could help us, and it did I was serious about making our relationship work." Frank answered "couple therapy can help couples learn to manage their conflict, improve their bond and create healthier communication habits to name a few reasons"
"Could you write down where to find them?" James asked
"Sure but make sure before you go that you are serious about fixing things if you aren't willing to put the work in then its no worth it" Frank stated "It isn't for everyone some relationships don't work out and not everyone stays with their Hogwarts sweetheart so just keep this in mind. You also should consider seeing Dr. Alec Hospenturner he is not a couple therapist he is a normal therapist, but you might benefit from seeing him once or twice a week getting your feelings out and working through them"
"Can you write his down to?" James asked
"Way ahead of you Potter" Frank answered, "Oh and James Lily's under house confinement and can't follow you and she will probably be on bed rest very shortly right?"
"Yes, when she is on bedrest apologize to Anna. You need to apologize she probably will not take you back and probably shouldn't considering you are married, but you hurt her. Even if you write a letter explaining things its better than her being in the dark thinking she did something Wrong well more than "
"I might take that advice," James said
"But Potter if you are serious- "Frank began
"He is not Sirius I am" Sirius cut in
"James if you are certain you want to fix things with Lily don't try and start anything up with Anna again or anyone else. Don't do all the work to try and fix your marriage if you are not certain you want to with Lily" Frank tried again
"How do I know if I'm certain?" he asked
"I can't tell you that because I'm not you but maybe talk to someone like Dr. Hospenturner to get him to help you through your feelings before you consider marriage counseling," Frank said "But this is just my advice take it if you want or not. But remember you need to do what's best for you and what's best for Henry how is it going to affect him if his parents are miserable or if one of his parents is miserable in their marriage?"
"Frank does raise a good point. What's best for Henry he shouldn't have to grow up with his parents unhappy together and constantly fighting. You have to decide if you really want to make this work with Lily or if you need to go your separate ways. How can Henry be happy if your miserable because your marriage is not fine the way it is with fighting, cheating, and Baby trapping its not healthy well maybe fighting is every married couple has disagreements but cheating and Baby trapping are definitely not normal" Sirius said
"Great now that that is out of the way James we need to talk," Frank said bluntly
"About what?" James asked nervously his face paling. What had he done because Frank looks pissed he thought to himself?
"If things go well he and that is honestly up to how Lily and my Mrs get along. If this becomes a regular thing us all hanging out together" Frank replied
"Yes if this becomes a regular thing, I do not want to find out that you have said some horrible thing to my darling wife, I have heard about the things you have said to my wife over the years, and they were dreadful, inappropriate and no way necessary I don't give a damn if you were drunk or not also I expect you to apologize to Alice and do it sincerely" Frank warned him
"Of course," James said "I will not say anything horrible to Alice I actually really regret what I said to Alice"
James added he didn't want to admit it, but he was scared of Alice's husband he intimidated him the man towered over him, and he was a talented wizard, a highly skilled Auror although he was mostly behind a desk these days James was certain that Frank had in no way gone soft. Besides what Frank said he was not the nicest person to her commenting on her weight as a plus-size woman and playing on her insecurities. He hated to admit it but he tended to do that a lot when he had gotten drunk or frustrated from third to seventh year it even continued after their times at Hogwarts it happens a lot more in fifth to Seventh year when Frank had graduated., Alice has spent most of her time with Frank while they were at Hogwarts together, they were inseparable most of the time except for that month and a bit that they had been separate but once they got back together Frank gave him a piece of his mind after he learned about it, let just say he wasn't too happy about it.
He got more careful with his drinking around Alice since Hogwarts when Frank had decided that he was completely sick of James insulting his wife and playing on her insecurities and along with a few of Alice's older brothers taught James some manners. HE did slip up a few times over the last five years and he had been Talked to. James was sure that if he slipped up again he would live to regret it Frank was sick of it, and he was pretty sure that Alice's parents or older Sibling and a few of her younger siblings wouldn't mind having a word or two with him. Most of Alice's brothers followed in their fathers, Grandfathers, great grandmothers, great grandfathers, etc footsteps just like she did and became an Auror.
James who in his defines was not in his right mind at most of the times these events occurred said some other hurtful things until he hit her two major sore spots, he said that she was wasting my Hogwarts years on the mistakes that are my children and told her she was completely crazy for having another child which made her attack him on that occasion. James was disgusted with his treatment of Alice, and he was well aware his mothers and father would be ashamed if they could see him now. What kind of man was he for calling a women fat and saying she should attempt to lose weight because she was putting more on, Alice was pregnant you put on weight when your pregnant, and then he said that Frank would cheat on her again? How did he put it oh that's right he said she was getting "really unattractive" then he went on to mention how she was not Franks's type and that he would leave Alice and their children alone because when Wife gets pregnant husbands usually start cheating? He had made her cry that he knew for certain Gideon and Fabián had some words with him after that but said they wouldn't tell Frank who was bound to at least knock him out in ten seconds flat. "He hit her with her insecurities about her weight, about her kids, and about her husband. All because he was either drunk or frustrated and he took it out on Alice something which she did not deserve. He had absolutely no right to say those things"
"Do you want me to apologize today or?" James asked before he was cut off
"Yes today would be fine "Frank interrupted
"When about before you leave as your about to leave?" James asked "I really am sorry about what I said to your wife I had no right and I was completely out of line Alice was just making the best of the situation, nobody plans to get pregnant in their early teens, and as a said she was just making the best with the circumstances"
"Well it's good to know that you are aware that you were out of line," Frank said, "But seriously I don't want to hear that something happened, and you took your anger out on my beloved wife ok?"
"Ok" James agreed immediately
"Good" Frank smirked "So anyway how are your sisters"
