Kitten Sittin'

Phoe's Tumblr Drabbles

Octavian was sitting in his favorite armchair, reading a book. The afternoon was serene, the house eerily quiet as it tended to be whenever his husband wasn't home. Luke was visiting the Greeks this weekend; despite having gone to college and working in New Rome now, he still liked to return to his roots regularly, make sure the Hermes Cabin was still standing, as he liked to put it.

"Honey, I'm home," called Luke out from downstairs. "And I brought you a little something."

Well, that usually meant nothing good when Luke came home from the Greeks. Slowly did Octavian put his book down, waiting as he heard his husband's steps lead up the stairs.

"What is it?" asked Octavian warily.

"I remembered how you said you wanted a pet and that your favorites are cats so I bought us a cat!"

Luke rounded the corner, entering the library slash office, a broad smile on his lips. Octavian blinked, repeatedly, as he realized what he was carrying in his arms. Who he was carrying.

"That is not a cat," Octavian glared pointedly at Luke. "That is Percy Jackson wearing cat-ears."

One of Luke's hands was securely wrapped around Percy's waist, the other resting under Percy's ass, cupping it to hold him. Percy's head was turned sideways, cheek pressed against Luke's chest, two black triangular cat-ears poking out of the mess of black hair. No, wait. There was also a long, black tail sticking out of his shirt, whipping back and forth lazily.

Sea-green eyes zoomed in on him, pupils in thin, curious slits. "Meow."

"So. Funny story," Luke laughed sheepishly as he approached Octavian. "He's not really wearing them. It's more like... a prank that went wrong and anyway I volunteered us for catboy sitting until the Hecate Cabin figures out a solution."

The catboy pushed off Luke, startling the son of Hermes into actually letting go. Instead of crashing, Percy landed quite elegantly on his feet. Tilting his head, Percy put one hand in front of the other, walking on all four. Stalking toward Octavian like a predator who found his prey. When he reached Octavian, he put his hands on the augur's thighs, pulling himself up on them. The next moment, Octavian had a lap full of Greek annoyance. Those admittedly mesmerizing eyes were still staring at him curiously, button nose twitching as Percy sniffed him. And then Percy Jackson curled together on Octavian's lap, fitting all of himself onto Octavian. The next moment, there was a surprisingly loud and steady purring sound coming from the Greek hero.

"...I'll allow it," conceded Octavian after a minute, reaching out for Percy.

He carefully ran his hand over the younger man's ribs and the purring sound increased. Luke smirked knowingly at him but proved wise enough not to comment on it.

"Beg," ordered Octavian, holding a piece of salmon just out of reach. "Be a good boy and beg."

Percy was sitting on the floor, transfixed on the salmon, meowing miserably. He wanted the treat and didn't understand why his human wasn't giving him the treat! Octavian stared pointedly at him, lowering the salmon enough to cat Percy's attention once more and then lifting it up again. Meowing, Percy sat up on his knees, resting his hands against Octavian's hip for support so he wouldn't fall over. Finally, he was long enough to reach the yummy treat!

"There you go. Good boy," praised Octavian as he hand-fed Percy. "Good kitty, such a good kitten."

One the salmon was eaten, he reached between Percy's ears to caress his hair and scratch him behind the right ear, where Percy liked to be scratched the most. The catboy was purring pleased. Luke stood in the doorway of their kitchen with an amused smirk, arms crossed.

"Careful, you're going to grow attached to Percy if you continue spending so much time with him."

Octavian glared pointedly at his husband and continued caressing the kitten. "Don't be ridiculous."

For the past day, Octavian had been glaring and in an even fouler mood than normal. Both praetors and half the senate had already pleaded with Luke to 'work his magic' and fix this. He couldn't. He knew Octavian was missing their kitten. For five glorious days had Percy Jackson lived with them and Octavian had given him treats, petted him, praised him, tried to train him. He'd grown attached. Two days ago, Luke had returned Percy to CHB and now his husband was cranky.

"Hello—o? Anybody ho—ome? If not, I'd advise you to actually lock your door."

Octavian and Luke exchanged a surprised look before heading downstairs, where they found Percy in the living room... swatting at the golden tassels on the curtain tie-backs. His tail stood up high.

"I thought they fixed you," commented Luke surprised. "What are you doing here."

Percy turned toward them with a bright flush, ears twitching. "Halfway there. Human speech and mind are back, but they haven't figured out the... uh... instincts, ears and tail."

He'd had a crush on Luke since, honestly since he had met the other. But after the war had ended, when Luke was recovering in the infirmary, when they talked about everything, and just how big a help he'd been during the Giant War, those feelings changed, deepened. But Luke was already dating Octavian by the time Percy realized he was in love. And Octavian was a grade-A prick. Until he wasn't. And that was the confusing thing. He'd been so... different with Percy this past week.

"That doesn't answer why you're here, Perseus," and there was the cold, prissy prick again.

Glowering at him, Percy crossed his arms over his chest. "Nobody at camp gives belly-rubs even half as good as you and I'm tired of the teasing so I thought I could stay here until this issue is fully resolved. Also, don't call me 'Perseus'. I liked it better when you called me your favorite kitten."

He stuck his tongue out at the augur, who blushed a mortified red. "Y... You remember?"

"Every single cute compliment and nickname," chimed Percy with a cocky smirk.

"And yet still, you came here," commented Luke curiously. "For my husband's belly-rubs."

Now it was Percy's turn to blush, his tail down and ears back. "I'm... I mean..."

Octavian heaved a sigh and sat down on the couch, patting his lap. "Come here, kitten."

It took Percy less than two seconds to curl together on Octavian's lap. Luke chuckled to himself as he sat down next to them, scratching Percy beneath his chin to tilt his head up enough so he could place a gentle kiss on Percy's lips. Percy stared at him curiously, before he started purring and pawing at Luke's lap while Octavian scratched his belly.

Author's note: This story was brought to you by; me spite-writing, once again, after getting an irritating comment on another Luktavercy fic, complaining about Octavian's participation in it. People being piss-ants about my ships will always only make me ship it harder~
