Day 31- Rexsoka: Baking
Rex stared hopelessly at the cookbook before him. He blinked at it, read everything again, and ran his fingers across his head.
"Love," he sighed. "Certainly this sounded like a good idea, but I don't even know what half of these words mean."
Ahsoka laughed and made her way over to him. "To be fair, I don't know what I'm doing either. So, we're in this together."
"Better than being alone in it," Rex muttered.
"You know," Anakin called from the lounge area of Padmé's apartment. "Padmé and I would be happy to come out and help you two!"
"No thanks, Skyguy," Ahsoka shouted back. "We can figure it out ourselves! Right, Rex?" She smiled up at the blond man.
Rex shook his head and sighed. "If you're so sure. Though I really don't think a little help would be a bad thing, right?"
"Well," Ashoka said. "It wouldn't be bad, per se, simply it's unnecessary."
Rex laughed. "Alright then. I suppose we ought to get started."
"Good!" Ahsoka said clapping her hands together. "Padmé said she labeled everything and it's all out, so we don't need to find it. We should wash our hands first."
Rex followed the enthusiastic Togruta's lead, smiling as he did so. Certainly she may not have known exactly what to do, but she was definitely more comfortable than he was, and had a great attitude about it all.
But it was thanks to her positivity that the couple made it through the next couple of hours. A simple cake would have perhaps taken most people half the time; but neither Rex nor Ashoka had ever baked, and the latter was easily distracted.
By the end of it, both of them were covered in various ingredients. Rex had powder on his face, and though it had mostly faded, one could still tell that Ahsoka had tried to draw her facials markings in his face. In return, Rex had smeared some of the batter on Ahsoka's face. As expected though, she just laughed at it, and attempted to put some on Rex's face; he avoided it.
"I think you would look pretty with facial markings," Ahsoka pouted as she cleaned the remaining powder from Rex's face.
Rex chuckled. "Pretty, eh? Well, maybe I think you'd look pretty with cake batter on your face, but it won't stay there, hmm?"
Ahsoka scowled. "Fine," she said throwing the washcloth in his face.
"Hey!" Rex yelled, really only half offended.
Ahsoka squeaked and tried to run away, but Rex grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back over.
"Not so fast, love," he said through clenched teeth. "It seems we need to clean your face up too!" He took the wash cloth and began to wipe the batter off.
Ahsoka playfully struggled to escape, laughed as she cried, "No, stop!"
Rex finished up and tossed the wash cloth over by the sink. He spun Ashoka around to look at her.
"All clean," Rex smiled, pulling her in for a kiss.
"It was a team effort," Ashoka smirked, obliging.
Rex pulled back and pressed her nose. "I can't wait to eat the cake. I wish we could take some back for the boys."
Ahsoka laughed. "I'm sure the cake will be good. And I'm sure that the boys will get to taste cake one day. Don't worry." She kissed Rex's nose. "I'll make sure they do."
Rex chuckled. "Yeah, I'm sure you will."
Ashoka sighed and rested her head on Rex's shoulder. "I love you, Rex."
Rex rubbed her shoulder. "I love you too, Ahsoka."
