Chapter Fifteen
Kagome could only glare after the male as he disappeared into the forest, she honestly wasn't surprised yet it didn't stop the anger that boiled in her blood. Shoving it down she re entered the water and roughly scrubbed at her skin, doing her best to remove what yolk still clung to her.
She had to act fast.
Still wet and shivering she entered the forest going the opposite direction Curtis had gone, her gaze on the foliage, even if she felt and looked clean she had no doubt the scent of the eggs contents was still clinging to her skin. She could use her powers to shield her scent but not only would it throw off the ones looking for the egg but the ones looking for her. She would have to use herbs, it would dull the scent of the egg yolk on her yet let her natural scent still be scentable to those that knew what to look for.
"Ah!" Finding a small fern with yellow flowers she grabbed it and began to pinch the leaves making the plant 'bleed' afterwards she quickly began to run it over her, focusing on her face and hair, areas that had been saturated by the yolk.
Task done she glanced around, the sun was to her left... She jolted as the very ground under her shook and thundered, angry auras pulsing around her. They were enraged, blood thirsty, and strong!
Of course, she didn't have her bow and arrows, let alone even a god damn knife or anything to defend herself with. Maybe she should hole up somewhere and block out her scent, at least until the danger passed. Afterwards she could make her way in the opposite direction of the killing intent and reveal her scent once more.
Guilt flared to life in her chest, what about Bai?
She couldn't just leave the younger girl out here...sure she had no doubt the feral would fight tooth and nail to keep her safe. It was the fact of the matter that Bai was still his kidnapped hostage...despite the Stockholm syndrome Bai was displaying...
She couldn't very well leave the naive young girl to her fate...
Even if it was a fate she had chosen herself with her damn habit of lying...
Grunting Kagome kept her feet moving, her mind running over the situation. When she had been kidnapped in the past did she not always hold out hope that her friends would come save her, no matter what?
Yes.
She knew that no matter what Inuyasha and the others would come for her, even if it was her own damn fault she had been kidnapped and she knew she owed that much to Bai.
"Fuck." Cursing under her breath she reached inside of herself to pull a small bit of power forward, it pulsed just under the surface as she searched for the small bit of power she had sealed into Bai's necklace, assuming they weren't too far apart she would be able to locate them.
When she had first made the necklaces, infusing them with her power, it had been weak, and she had even intention of pouring more power into the necklace's possessed by Parker and Bai the more that it returned to her...but no Bai had to go and get them kidnapped before she could do that and there was no way she was going to chance Curtis seeing her powers.
Nope.
She did not need him changing his focus onto her, there was no way she could deal with his yandere ass...
So as she felt the felt tug of her senses she swerved on her heel to go towards it, and towards the blood lust. She knew it wasn't the best idea, but she had ways to fight if she needed. She could improvise on ways to defeat whatever a Colossal was. She highly doubted it was as strong as the demons she had faced in the past.
Kagome had been following the blood lust for a while now, they were fast and it was now dark. She bit her lip and glanced around her, not far was a small cliff and it would be a good place to spend the night. It would have to do for now. She was tired from all the running.
Quickly making her way to the cliff, she took her time climbing, wincing when the sharp rock dug into her skin. Once up there she sighed and leaned against one of the large boulders. She was tired, hungry and just wanted to get out of this stupid forest. She was worried about Bai as well, but from how she had been acting Kagome knew she would be safe. Curtis would keep her protected, even if she didn't like him...Kagome knew that he was strong.
Closing her eyes she let herself sleep, not knowing that by a hair she missed someone who had been looking for her.
X-x-x-
It had been two days since she had been abandoned by Citrus and left on her own, one day since she lost the ability to feel the pull of Bai's necklace. She assumed it was due to them being out of range and as such had decided to track the collosals, as they were tracking Bai, she had been able to keep close to them and was almost to them. They move faster than she thought, but she had still yet to see what they looked like yet. She just knew they moved fast and from the broken trees she had encountered, they were rather large in size.
Kagome froze when she heard a huge roar and the thundering of footsteps coming closer. She had paused in a clearing to catch her breath and get some water. It was near a cliffs edge so she could have a good view of what was around her. She still hadn't seen any villages or other beasts in the area. They probably were staying clear because of the colossals..
Turing, she flared her powers, knowing that one was coming towards her. She focused her energy to make a bow and arrow appear in her hand, aiming to the other side of the clearing where the loud roars were coming from, as the earth shook as it got closer and closer.
What appeared before her was not what she expected. It was a dinosaur...a dinosaur with brown fur on the top of its head and down some onto the spine...
'This is not what I expected a colossal to look like!' Kagome thought as she pulled the energy string from the bow back, letting the arrow be by her jawline before letting it go. It hit the creature in the chest, a roar of pain leaving it as it charged towards her.
Kagome moved quickly, getting out of its way so she wouldn't get bitten, but she felt its claws barely brush the ends of her hair as she quickly used the end of the bow to hit it. Kagome could hear the skin sizzle and blood hit her face and arms as she moved away. She knocked another arrow aiming for the back of the head.
It hit, but the colossal moved so it didn't hit where she wanted to, so she could make a quick kill. Cursing silently, Kagome took a deep breath, willing the bow to take the shape of a sword. It would be easier to get up close to make a kill. The colossal did move quicker than she was used to, and it's skin seemed to be a bit stronger than normal from how far her arrows were sticking out of the creature's body.
Kagome felt people getting closer that weren't colossal's. She tried to see what was coming, but she didn't have time as she avoided a hit, making her body jump so she was on top of the creature. She gave a curse as it rammed itself into the rock formation on the left, but she quickly took the sword and lunged forward so it would pierce the jugular. Blood sprayed everywhere as the body came crashing down to the earth.
Holding the sword in place she heard a bone snap and used the sword to hold her up as the body of the colossal now lay motionless before her, as she was on top of it, sword still embedded in the neck. Taking the sword out slowly, Kagome tilted her head seeing a jewel of some kind fall out.
Reaching for it she quickly held the bloody jewel that shined a color between purple and blue, she shivered as it gave her jewel shard vibes and decided to tuck it away to deal with later. Kagome took a deep breath in as she stepped off of the colossal, the spirit sword in her bloody hand, shining a bright pink still.
Just as she was about to relax she heard more roars and sighed in annoyance as three more came closer. They were smaller than the one she had just taken down, but they were still large with sharp teeth and claws.
Kagome quickly moved her body to dodge and go in for the kills as quickly as she could. She wanted to go for quick kills without using up too much of her energy. She narrowed her eyes as she pulsed her power, making the sword grow longer and take down each one in one killing blow.
The creatures were very powerful, but they seemed to not be used to someone using weapons, which she guessed wasn't normal. Beasts used claws and teeth to fight, so using a sword and her bow was something they hadn't encountered before.
Taking the last one down, Kagome felt her energy levels going down more than she wanted them too.
'Great...covered in blood. If my clothes weren't bad enough before this...' Kagome thought as she took the last jewel out of the creature. Each one was a different size and color so they were differentially something that would be worth something, just didn't know how much or what they could be used for in this world.
Stiffening Kagome felt people coming closer, but feeling the familiar feeling of one of her necklaces, Kagome glanced to the left to see a group that was at the edge of the clearing but didn't move her body from where she was standing. She already felt exhausted and ready to sleep.
"Kagome!" This caused her head to whip around as the familiar voice echoed around her, and the next thing she knew she was lifted up by the waist and held in the air as arms encased around her middle.
"Parker..." Kagome whispered, relief going through her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, letting the sword disappear as she did so. Parker held her, his face in her stomach as he was shaking slightly.
He sat her down on her feet after a few minutes, but wrapped her in his embrace once more, not wanting to let her go. She felt the same way, her arms snaking around his middle, her face buried in his chest.
Her eyes burned as she held back tears, she had been so strong the last few days but now...now she had someone she could lean on.
"Parker." She blinked at the lone word, it radiated power and authority and it made her rapidly blink her tears away. She shed her previous weakness away, pulling up her mask she pulled away from Parker enough to look at the speaker.
It was obvious he was related to Parker, they were almost clones, yet this man, he held many more years over Parker, the light lines in his face and the years of wisdom shone through as he gazed down at them from atop a giant eagle.
It was large, its wings barely touching the ground as it hovered above the ground, the wind from the motion making the dirt and debris kick up around them. He looked much like how she had envisioned Inu Tashio to look. Proud, regal, and aristocratic. His red cape moving with the motion of the wind, the thick fur of it shifting to and fro. On his cheeks rested four stripes, he was indeed powerful, and demanded attention.
Parker nodded her head towards his father, acknowledging him, for to not do so would be an insult. "Father." He watched his father hop from the back of the eagle beast man, its large avian body retracting back into the skies to circle around them in order to keep watch. Yet he did not remove his arms from around Kagome, no he wouldn't be letting her go anytime soon.
