CHAPTER 5
Yang and Halcyone strolled into the Branwen camp unescorted. They were met with hostile looks and a few raised weapons, but were let through all the same. They stopped in front of the biggest tent and waited for the noise outside to attract Raven. The white woman stepped out of the tent, and without a word, Yang still with a shaky hand, threw the fist-full of Shay's teeth she knocked out onto the ground, as Halcyone tossed, if you'd believe it, a jar containing Yang's original severed left hand suspended in preservatives… A hand Raven had no clue was her own daughters. Raven went wide eyed for a second before she recomposed herself… She figured one of her men got his hand chopped off by the short haired blond's blood covered machete. (She didn't know it was pig's blood) "Yang." She said.
"Raven." Yang returned.
"So after all this time you finally decided to visit me." Raven said, walking to the edge of the tent's steps.
"You're one to talk. After you pumped me out you left dad and mom to take care of me." Yang said.
"He wanted kids, so much so he cheated on me with Summer… I gave him the child he asked of me, and left. I had no more obligations to either of you… Save one… If you were ever in danger, I would help you, once." Raven said.
"The train…" Halcyone said, thinking back to Raven's appearance during her fight with Neo.
"Really generous of you." Yang said with an eye roll. "But in addition to admitting you were basically just an egg donor to a family that wasn't manipulative and psychotic, you didn't help me on that train… Halcyone did." Yang said, extending an arm to the short haired blond.
Raven raised an eyebrow at that. "You're here, asking for help?" Raven asked.
"I want you to take me to Ruby. She's somewhere in Anima, and if Qrow's with her, which I have no doubt he is, you can take us to him." Yang said with a smirk.
"And you're going to convince me to do that, how exactly?" Raven questioned, gripping the hilt of her sword.
"Funny, I figured the teeth and severed hand would be enough." Halcyone said with a chuckle. Raven looked directly at Halcyone.
"Your friend seems to be quite the confident one." Raven said.
"Girlfriend actually." Yang corrected. Raven felt bile rise in her throat, a faint look of disgust on her face. "Aww is mommy disappointed her little girl munches carpet?" Yang taunted with a baby voice.
"I've had enough of this. Take them away." Raven ordered her tribe, as she turned to re-enter her tent… Until a loud roar broke through the evening sky.
"Grimm?!" One of the bandits asked.
Halcyone and Yang grew smiles. "Worse."
Author's note.
Lol, Halcyone kept Yang's hand. Believe it or not, legally a hospital can not bar you from taking a severed portion of your body back, if it is removed or it can not be reattached, unless you sign something that says they can keep it for study and what not. Outside of Halc pulling the same trick Daryl from TWD did, we come to find that even though Raven is totally ok with murder, raiding, and in general being a dick, she's repulsed by homosexuality. Figured Raven was too dumb in the original show to actually be a successful bandit, flaking out at the earliest sign of difficulty, and needed to make her more unlikable, but slightly more justified in leaving Tai. Being grossed out by the gays is one way to make a modern audience hate a character, and Tai cheating on Raven with Summer not only explains why she left after Yang was born, but why Ruby is also two years older. Tai wanted kids, Raven didn't. Tai didn't know Raven was pregnant until at least the time he'd been sleeping with Summer, and whoops, would you look at that Summer got knocked up too, and Raven found out, waited around, popped Yang out, and said. "Enjoy the redhead ya' cheating bitch." To which Tai replied, "At least she likes to cuddle afterwards you icy harpy." And the two probably never saw each other again.
Two guesses as to what that roar was.
