An AU where Fairytail and Sabertooth meet before the GMGs. Sting Eucliffe convinced everyone that Lucy Heartfilia is his "Mate", however this doesn't sit well with our Fire Dragon Slayer as he thinks Sting has ulterior motives…

Ch1

Lucy Heartfilia is no stranger to embarrassment. Her guild mates like to make sure of that. But this moment? HAS got to be one of the if not THE most humiliating moments in her life.

"I'm-I'm sorry...b-butt could you repeat that?" She asked. Her guildmates stared at the drama playing out in front of their beers and dinners.

"I said-" The boy in front of her had finally caught his breath. The stranger had actually followed her into her guild hall. He now stood in front of her tall and proud. His hand still tightly gripped her wrist from when he stopped her.

"You're my mate."He flashed an arrogant smile at Lucy.

The crowd watching them let out amused oohs, some catcalled others whistled at the sight. Lucy could have sworn she heard someone tease " Kinky." And "Get a room."

The celestial mage was too shocked and embarrassed to move- her face burned and her body was practically petrified.

Mavis could someone please kill her now?

"Whoa-whoa whoa-Just Whoa" Cana slammed her barrel of alcohol down and eyed the blonde boy cackling. "She's - your mate? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"Hey Lucy, do you know this guy?" Grey stepped forward from the crowd. His dark eyes focused on the stranger after Lucy quickly shook her head no.

"I've never seen you around here before...How do you know Lucy?" Mirajane asked, curious. She appeared next to Grey and studied the man. This guy was powerful, she could sense it...

"My name- is Sting eucliffe…" Sting didn't bother to look away from Lucy. "And I am the Light Dragon Slayer of Sabertooth."

The guild hall erupted in surprised murmurs.

Dragon Slayer? This pushy guy was a dragon slayer? like Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy?

"Sabertooth? Does he mean THE Sabertooth guild? As in the number one strongest guild in Fiore?" An uneasy shift swept through the crowd. "What's he doing here?"

Lucy felt her heart skip a beat and she tried to pull her hand away. Sting's grip tightened slightly at this.

"Please. Believe me. I'm just as surprised as you are." He looked only at Lucy and ignored the tension increasing in the guildhall. "I had some business in Magnolia and- and then I saw you." His eyes were filled with a variety of emotions Lucy couldn't identify. "I took one look at you and just knew that you were the one.."

Lucy forced a polite smile and tried to pull away again.

Nothing against him, oh no he was a total hottie, but this whole situation was starting to freak Her out.

"Look uh Sting? I'm very flattered and all but I just met you and you're pretty f-forward so… uh mmaybe you mistook me for someone else you saw or-"

"ITS NOT A MISTAKE." He held her firmly in place. His eyebrows knitted together. "I know you don't know me- but" he gritted his teeth in frustration. "I wouldn't lie about something as important as this."

Lucy cringed as his grip crushed her wrist. His eyes were determined and unwavering, her own trembled slightly.

"That's enough there Romeo." a man with long black hair and piercings yanked Sting's hand away from Lucy's wrist. "I think it's about time for ya to leave… looks like Bunny Girl here ain't buying yer shitty confession."

For the first time since he'd entered the guild, Sting tore his eyes away from Lucy. Took one look at Gajeel and scowled. Lucy quickly backed away from him and stood behind Grey and Mirajane, eager to put some distance from the pushy stranger.

Sting's attention snapped back towards her at her sudden disappearance and he looked like he was going to walk towards her again.

"STING" another man barged into the opened doors of the guild "WHY DID YOU RUN OFF LIKE THA-" the man stopped when he saw the scene before him. A hostile crowd of guild members and Sting held back by a scary looking man who wore a nasty scowl.

"Now who's this guy?" Max sighed annoyed. "More Sabertooth?"

Sting however ignored the newcomer and decided to try to move towards Lucy again.

"Lucy please- just listen to me." He reached out a hand towards Lucy. She stiffened and Grey held an arm out in front of her. Gejeel yanked Sting back.

"If you want to talk to her then over there is plenty fine."

Grey smirked . Sting growled in response as he ripped his hand out of Gajeel's iron grip.

"As a Dragon Slayer" Sting hissed clearly agitated. "We harbor Dragon like abilities as well as instincts. From senses to magical powers." He focused his eyes solely on Lucy as if she was the only one he was speaking to. "One of those instincts is that of having a mate."

"Sting stop." The newcomer stepped forward towards Sting. Gajeel eyed him suspiciously. "What do you think you're doing?" The man whispered harshly. He grabbed Sting's arm but Sting just shrugged him off.

"Stay outta this Rouge." Sting didn't even look at his peer. "Lucy." His voice stressed the name, desperation dripping into the syllables.

Lucy's blush intensified with his piercing stare. Those eyes could bore a hole in her head.

"Please give me a chance to explain. I promise I'll explain everything. I promise-" His eyes softened and his voice turned into one of pleading. "I'm not gonna hurt you" he was begging her to speak to him.

Uncertainty filled Lucy.

She remembered accidentally running into this man out on the streets. That's all it was. An accident. She remembered sheepishly apologizing to him as the stranger stared at her dumbfounded. And when she tried to leave he just suddenly grabbed her arm and started bombarding her with strange questions. Needless to say she was freaked out and tried to make a run for it. She had thought she had lost him back in the city and had let her guard down once she entered the guild hall. Little did she know that Sting was a dragon slayer and he would be able to follow her scent through the busy streets of Magnolia. She had a feeling he wasn't going to take no for an answer… talk about persistent.

"Well-well… as long as it's just- a talk." Lucy nervously stepped out from behind her guild mates. Her cheeks still flushed embarrassed by the drama that was unfolding in front of her guild mates. Seeing Grey's frown as he prepared to protest she added "And as long as we have some of my guild mates present…"
