So, here's my new RWBY story that I just wrote within two days straight. This entire story was inspired by an SFM video on YouTube called "The Scout That Never Gave Up" by Hoovy Tube. I didn't really tell him his permission if I can use his great SFM video as a source for this story I made, but I might be able to do so.

Anyway, to keep it short: This story is never connected to Volumes 4 and so forth, but there are some changes and characters that I wanted to retain from Volume 4 and so forth to this story of mine. And to be clear, I do not own RWBY, Rooster Teeth does, and Monty Oum.

Enjoy!

THE ARC THAT NEVER GAVE UP

Chapter 1: Team Deathmatch

"You're saying WHAT exactly, Ozpin?!" one professor yelled in disbelief. "Of all the things that you have declared in your school, you want to that?!"

"Yes." The white-haired Headmaster replied normally, as he sipped his mug of coffee.

"But… aren't you going to reconsider this? I mean, this might be a good thing to set in the entire Huntsmen academies." A female Professor stated. "ON PAPER!"

"I can assure you that this will go well. We just have to put some faith in it." Ozpin replied, with a smile.

"Glynda, surely you don't want to reconsider this, won't you?!" a professor yelled in a worried tone. "Besides, aren't the one who mostly… well, you're more of a right-hand woman with him. But aren't you going to say something about this?"

"I don't really get paid enough for doing my job as a Huntress, and a professor, so no. I won't interject Ozpin's plan for a…" she air-quoted. "Team Deathmatch in every academy."

How should this whole thing be explained? Well, two days ago, Ozpin had a great idea that he came up with. Last year, he witnessed every academy formed at the Vytal Festival as they began to fight to test their skills in being Huntresses and Huntsman. The Headmaster of Beacon was so amazed by the idea, that he wanted to create an even better one. But this time, it involves in something more… brutal and mature-like. Something that will give the students, not just in Beacon, but around Remnant.

And that was a Team Deathmatch.

Recently, Ozpin opened a meeting for all academies in Remnant to let all of the leading professors to meet at a council (thanks to Atlas for making one, since Ironwood is also included) to discuss the terms with them before it will be declared throughout the schools. The rules were pretty simple: All they have to do is form every student in every Academy, mix them all up and give them some respected teams, and let them fight. However, if one member, or an entire team, wishes to give up, they can just simply quit because there is no turning back.

It was full-proof and an excellent idea.

Ozpin liked it.

Glynda liked it, but couldn't care less.

Professors Oobleck and Port were a bit worried, but do love to inspect the entire thing go. Even Professor Peach liked it, but would eat her own hands alive since she'll have to tend with some injuries.

For the rest of the professors in the meeting? Well… There were mixed reactions.

Every Academy basically had some mixed thoughts on the idea Ozpin had. It wasn't a fun or a perfect idea to help the students develop in their future Huntsmen career. It was suicidal! And crazy to be exact!

Shade Academy had only one thing to say, and it was a big denial sentence since they won't like the idea by putting all of the students at risk, and nobody even wants that. Haven Academy had also the same thing but added some facts like what if they lost a number of students along the way or what if they get really rough on each other, which will result to killing. Another academy called Sentinel quickly, and firstly, denied the idea from Ozpin and that was it from them. And lastly, Atlas Academy had it different, and Ironwood explained that Atlas may be strict with their teachings and training, but they're not allowing such animal events to take place.

"Look, Ozpin. I know that you wanted your students in Beacon to be ready for the dangers, and basically, the war against Salem if it ever happens," Ironwood spoke reasonably until he argued like the board. "but I will NOT let this ever happen" he slammed his fist on the table, "for the future of every Huntsmen and huntress!"

"Is it because that you view them as 'not ready' and still being children, James?" Ozpin pointed out and made Ironwood try to say something against it. "Well, just to be remindful about you, that your Ace Operatives once started around seventeen when they enrolled in your academy."

"BACK to the point, Ozpin! We are not going give our students the chance to fight each other in a deathmatch program, just so you can let know that it's basically possible that they'll develop and evolve into better Huntsmen!" A professor from Shade argued, "They're still children, and we can't risk children being killed out there."

"Correction, they're eighteen if I'm not wrong. And I can basically tell that they're children no longer, but that doesn't mean I want to get rid of their fun in life." Ozpin said back as if it was like a huge sack of sass he just throw on the table to let every professor be affected at.

"Believe me when I say this everyone, having this team deathmatch idea will surely go well for their evolvement as Huntsmen and Huntresses. As years as a Headmaster in Beacon who have not ever been replaced by anyone, I have experienced a few students that come and go and died when they first step out from the schools they've studied at to achieve what they want. So, to end this meeting, since it's getting us nowhere but arguments, we will declare the team deathmatch tournament, for Remnant's future defenders."

As Ozpin ended his speech, everyone around the table decided to accept the idea. They have no choice at all, and it's pretty impossible to break down the brick wall that is Ozpin himself.

They all agreed to it.

Well, what could go wrong?

In the present, a blonde-haired beauty was rambling something exciting to her teammates. "Can you believe it, guys? The first-ever team deathmatch! Starting right now! Around Remnant! It's going to be amazing!" she pumped the air with joy. "I mean, we should all be excited! This going to be incredible!"

"Correction, Yang. This is going to be terrible!" a white-haired princess interjected. "Why on Remnant would Ozpin allow that kind of program to be created, and accepted throughout every Academy?! Besides, it won't be like the Vytal Festival."

"Well, technically, you're right on everything you said, Weiss." A half-human, half cat joined in. "It won't be like the Vytal Festival at all, but it will also help evolve into becoming better Huntresses since some of them get killed easily one by one."

"I am actually going to agree with Blake on her statement." A long, black-haired said with a soft voice. "Since some Huntsmen and Huntresses might be killed one by one in the future, and that will also be depended by us, we could really use that kind of program to further shape us in the future."

"Yeah! I'm gonna agree with Renny here!" an orange-haired, hyperactive girl agreed. "We'll show everyone in every academy what Team ORNJ can do! That is if we're going to be in the same team!"

"Wait, Team ORNJ? Since when did Nora come up with that team name? Does it even sound like it's our official name?" a tanned-skinned boy with brown hair asked.

"Uh, hello! It was in your Scroll messages!" Nora reminded, "Don't tell me you forgot do you, Cute Boy Oz?"

"Hey, just because I looked like Headmaster Ozpin, doesn't mean I should be called like that!"

"I don't know, Oscar. You look a bit like Headmaster Ozpin at some point." Weiss did see a bit of resemblance, much to Yang's snorting amusement.

"First Vomit Boy, now Cute Boy Oz? Classic." Yang was happy about it until she shifted her mind to something else. "Hey, has anyone seen Jaune around? Or Ruby at all?"

"Hmm… come to think of it, where are does two anyway?" Blake wondered. "They might be late for the formation that they'll be announcing later."

"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure they'll make it anytime soon. We can't start the deathmatch without our leaders." Ren stated.

"Attention all team members! I repeat, attention all team members!" the intercom got the attention of everyone in the large area. "Please proceed to the formation rooms immediately, and accordingly to your designated team leader."

Everyone began to move in the large area as they all head to the formation rooms. Team ORN and WBY follow suit, despite their leaders not being around.

"Wait, aren't we gonna wait for Jaune and Ruby?" Oscar asked.

"Eh, I don't think we should wait for them at all. I bet they're aware of what they're gonna do when they arrive." Yang stated.

"Besides, according to the rules, you can't expect what kind of team, or leader, you'll be having for today. Just go expect the unexpected." Blake informed.

And with that, the teams left for their groups to be in.

20 minutes later…

It was already the starting. The first annual team deathmatch has already begun, and everything was expected, which is according to the cat Faunus herself. Everything inside the formation rooms was now crowded with people, with their designated team members and leaders. Some of them are excited by just talking about it, and some aren't really that happy since they wanted to give a beat down to any team members.

Then somehow, a familiar blonde-haired boy with armor arrived. Late.

"Excuse me! Sorry! Coming through." He said as he tried to pass by the crowded formation room. "Excuse me, sorry! I very sorr-WOAH!" suddenly, he tripped on something. The blonde knight got up as he groaned in pain. "Look! I'm very sorry about that! I didn't mean that, I was just passing by!"

"Eh, no worries mate, just like you, I'm rushing too, but to the bathroom." A student, exactly the same age as him, reassured. He picked up his brown hat, and dusted off his sleeveless jacket, "Say, aren't that Jaune Arc guy from Beacon?"

"Y-Yeah, why you ask?" Jaune Arc, the main character of the story, asked.

"Well, I'm very sorry to tell you this, but there were some people saying that you'll get yourself killed out there in the deathmatch." He sadly told him. "I mean, nothing personal between us mate, but I'm just better than everyone here."

"Oh… Gee, I didn't know…" Jaune mumbled, knowing that this will be said to him.

"But don't worry about that. That's just them blokes being jealous. Good luck, though." He light-slapped his arm and walked off to the comfort rooms.

"Yeah… I really need it, though."

Jaune Arc. That was his name after all. A name that's short, sweet, and rolls of the tongue. Although, that is what his mother said only since people didn't really care about it. Jaune is the only boy in his family with seven sisters and is practically the only one who is Huntsman attending a Huntsman academy. One problem is that he is considered, and by truth, a clumsy, unfit, student who can't even lift and swing his sword properly, despite knowing every training he had in him, right after Pyrrha left when she was accepted to another academy.

The blond knight had to get something new after his old clothes were destroyed and ruined by Zwei in an accident that caused Nora to spill some Queen Wasp syrup, which can't be removed if it got contacted to inorganic matter, on him when the cafeteria was declaring 'Free Pancake Day. His new appearance made his hair short and messier, saving time from combing it. His new outfit gains a black, v neck shirt a newly molded white chest plate that covers a bit more of his upper abdomen, gold lining, and similarly-colored bracers. He even wore a pair of navy-blue jeans and black boots. His belt was modified to let his sheath for his weapon, Crocea Mors, be connected at the left.

Back to the point, people saw Jaune as a liability, but his friends, mostly Nora's defending rage, put all their trust in him. However, as the years go by and now that he is in his third year, it just seems kind of pointless. One time, he borrowed a book in the library on sword fighting but realized that he couldn't even finish the first book of it, calling it quits since he wasted his time. If there's one thing that he should be lucky about, is that he is still in Beacon, and didn't even get expelled for faking his transcripts.

Now, the clueless Arc is in the formation room, finding his new team for the deathmatch program. He was aware that his team won't be Ren, Nora, and Oscar, but it'll be fine to him since he can handle meeting a few, new people. He just hoped that they won't be much trouble for him since he is basically one.

"Okay, Team ARSAR… Sounds dangerous." he read the paper in his hands, as he noticed that his team will be consisting of four more members. "I wonder who could they be anyway? I hope they don't screw it up since I might just slow them down. Or maybe it could be some elite members from Atlas. Yeah! And I'll just stay behind and…" he groaned as he shook his head off of the negative thoughts. "No. Don't think like that, Jaune. You can do this. You might do this. You can do this, you can do this, you can do –"

"Hey, Jaune! Over here!"

The blonde knight turned his attention to the familiar voice.

"Sun?"

"Hey man, how's it going?" he greeted with a toothy smile.

Sun Wukong is the team leader of SSSN, aka a bunch of hunky men with ripped hard abs and handsome faces that everyone woman will get their hands on. Sun may have the 'Hey, bro' attitude and can be quite annoying by everyone, and Blake. But his skills in both Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang make it even better for him as he is the leader of his team.

To add, the monkey Faunus had a different wardrobe change after three years. He now wears a different jack but had it opened to let his abs be seen. Dark brown pants, some sort of bandage all wrapped around his shin as socks, brown and yellow shoes, and red, digit less gloves. Despite having a new change of clothes, he still has his hairstyle, which is something that never changes.

"Hey, bro! Didn't know that you and I will be teammates, huh?"

"Wait, teammates?"

"Yeah, you're part of Team ARSAN, which is a really cool name, if you ask me." Sun liked the name, even if Jaune think about it being dumb earlier. "Come on, I'll show you the rest of the gang! I bet they'll be excited to see you!"

"Heh. Can't wait." The blond knight let out a weak smile. He just only hoped.

The two boys arrived at their team, who are being standby and looked like they were waiting for both two blondes, and the event to start. Sun spoke as he said. "Team ARSAR, I want you all to meet… Jaune Arc."

"Wait, Jaune? You're in Team ARSAR!?"

"Jaune? As in Jaune Arc of Team ORNJ? How exciting…"

"Jaune, hey! Long time no see old buddy!"

"… Hi…" he gave off a weak wave and a forced smile.

This was it. These are members of ARSAR.

Aside from Jaune and Sun being the two members, let's start with the rest of the others.

To start in a none orderly way, there was Fox Alistair, the blind, laid-back, sarcastic member of team CFVY, and the partner and leader of said CFVY, the fashionista-guru, handbag/machinegun wielding Coco Adel. His appearance looked the same as always, but he somehow looked different unlike before. The blind member of CFVY had a new attire, which consists of an orange, long-sleeved jacket with his emblem of a fox's head on the left sleeve. He also wears black pants that looked a bit longer, but the cuffs were covered by his black and white shoes. He also sports two pouches on both of his sides. His messy copper hair looked the same as always.

Next was Reese Chloris, the youthful and playful girl of team ABRN. The somewhat immature girl that happens to be Jaune's childhood was a part of team ARSAR, much to the latter's surprise seeing her again. The girl had a new attire aside from the old one she wore during the Vytal Festival. Her new attire consists of the same mauve hoodie, along with a pair of sleek designed bracers on her arms, with black digit-less, gloves underneath. She also wears a pair of black and brown baggy pants. Some accessory that she has is the same color-schemed kneepads and elbow pads for protection of course, and two black facial markings on her cheeks. And here she isn't hiding her hair with her hoodie, revealing her full tomboyish haircut.

Lastly, is no other than Ruby Rose, member and leader of Team RWBY. The scythe-wielding, weapon nerd, speedy Semblance user is part of the team and basically Jaune's partner. The red-hooded girl's appearance looked different after three years, and she seemed to have grown to look more… just a bit like Yang. Her new attire consists of a white high-neck décolletage blouse, with a red and black corset underneath, with black gloves that reached over her elbows. Her skirt somehow looked the same as it was, but a bit bigger and it had at least four belt buckles for design since she had a growth spurt when she reached seventeen. She also wore black knee socks with her emblem imprinted on the left knee sock, with black shoes that have red soles underneath and five belt straps each that looked like it was tied. Instead of having a bandolier for her bullets on her skirt, her gloves have a bandolier instead. Her cape/cloak thing was replaced with a longer one, but the bottom looked like it was about to be torn apart.

So far, Jaune was impressed. Not just because his new team looked like they're about to be dressed to kill. But the fact that he had new teammates that might be able to help him for the deathmatch. He wasn't a coward, but he was lucky to be part of team ASRAR.

Then, a red blur went directly to Jaune. "Wow, I can't believe that you're in our team, Jaune! This is going to be so exciting!" Ruby started to cheer joyfully as she started to ramble about how she formed the group. "So, basically you needed to know how we all met. Well, basically, all of us didn't know what ASRAR meant, but it did sound weird, so we just met in the same place that we met. Sun taught that it's an all-men group. Fox didn't really care but he didn't say that he was blind to come here by accident –"

"Actually, I think I might reconsider that."

"- and Reese, who was just so excited to see you for some reason, wanted to be here because she was planning to be part of a group you're in. I got a bit lost, but I knew that you'll be in it cause I think you're the only one with the letter A in your name, but that doesn't really matter now, right? What matters most is that we're a team for the annual team deathmatch, and it's going to be great! I bet you're thinking of the same thing, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh?" she leaned closer with a big smile on her face, only Jaune could find… well, whatever is the C-word, and not the dirty type!

"Y-Yeah… Great." He said, only to quickly correct what he said. "I mean! Yes! Uh… it's great to be here! With you!" he did it again. "Gah! I mean, with ALL OF YOU! As a team! Of course! Besides, what kind of team we'll be without a leader? Right? Or… one of you guys are leaders, cause that'll be much better, but in a good way! Damnit, Jaune! Stop talking!"

While he's trying to stop himself from talking, the red-hooded girl was a bit disturbed to see Jaune acting like this, but she can tell that it's him being nervous about the event, since she too, is nervous. The blind member and skater girl were a bit creeped out seeing Jaune like this since it'll be best to let Sun be a leader while hoping he can get a grip on it. And the monkey Faunus himself was actually busy with his Scroll, sending a groupie photo to Neptune, which he started to text about what is the blonde knight rambling about.

So far, the blonde knight wanted to stop but wanted to keep going, since it might calm him down in the end if he gets exhausted. But really, he didn't want to stop.

And that was when the intercom interrupted him and echoed the entire formation room.

"Attention all students from different academies. I would like to start with a warm and short congratulations for finding your teams for the first, annual team deathmatch. So to begin, here are some rules that will be made strictly: First, any violent actions can be allowed, just make sure to not get overboard in killing who you're going to kill since some of you have limited Aura. But don't worry, once you got badly injured, you'll be transported back to your designated lobbies with a recharged Aura with the assistance of an Atlesian device."

"Next rule is that all of you will be with your teams as much as you like, but it can also be allowed that if you want to fight off everyone solo. But I highly advise going with the first one. And third, the most important thing of all, if anyone wants to challenge you, we won't be stopping it since it's also part of the game. Just make sure that one of will is able to finish the duel with one-hundred points. That's all for the announcement. I'm Professor Glynda Goodwitch, and the first annual death match will start in… Five..."

"Oh man, this is gonna be great! Look out everyone, and hopefully Yang, I'm gonna beat your asses!" Ruby declared with a hint of Nora's personality. Hopefully, Yang won't sense it with her big sister's senses.

"… Four…"

"Alright, guys! Best of luck to all of us!" Sun supported the group.

"… Three…"

"Yeah, what he said! We're gonna do this! We'll be the O-fucking-P at the end of this deathmatch!" Reese hoped in dedication.

"… Two…"

"I think I forgot to tell Ren if he can give me those karate lessons of his," Fox told to himself. "Oh well, at least I'm still borrowing his frying pan."

"… One…"

Jaune didn't say anything, so he just grabbed Crocea Mors and tried to pull off a strong expression, but instead, his fears are covering his face.

Suddenly, the doors opened automatically in about two seconds. Everyone is armed with their weapons, their Aura charged and ready, and their Semblance getting ready to be used.

"By the power bestowed by Oum himself…" Glynda let out a desperate sigh. "Good luck…"

Then, everyone began to charge outside. Battle cries of determination were heard and weapons held on their hands tightly and menacingly as everyone began to go on a not-so bloody, but dangerous, terrifying, and dramatic (with a bit of hilarious) annual team deathmatch.

Jaune was the only one who didn't joined because he dropped Crocea Mors to the ground in panic. After recovering his weapon, he immediately ran outside the formation room and, hopefully, if he can survive, might be able to find his team.

BANG!

One small step to the annual team deathmatch, one stray bullet that hit his abdomen.

The blonde-knight fell to the ground in pain, but luckily his Aura, which was entirely used, blocked the bullet from wherever come from, and whoever it belonged to. The blonde-knight just laid on the ground painfully and looked shocked that his first experience started like this.

"Ow…"

Then, an Atlesian saucer hovered around him as it entirely covered him with a bright light that teleported him out of nowhere.

Only to land in the lobby, which Glynda was talking about.

"Oomph!" Jaune landed on the floor flat, painfully even. "Ow…" he rubbed his head. He began to observe the entire lobby, which is new to him at some point. "Wow… So this is what the lobbies looked like. Kinda reminded me the ol' Arc mansion's living room." It looked impressive to him.

Since he is the only one inside, there was someone else that appeared in the same lobby, and it startled Jaune like it was his first Halloween. It wasn't Ruby or Reese. Hell, he hoped it's neither Sun nor Weiss, but it was –

"Hey, Jaune." Lie Ren was the one that appeared.

"What the – Ren?! How did you –"

"I got hit by Yang. She's was barbaric out there." Ren said, not even scared by it due to his stoic nature. "You?"

"I… got hit by a stray bullet," Jaune answered ashamedly.

"Don't worry, Jaune. It was just out of coincidence. I'm sure that you can do better this time." He reassured his leader. "Also, I might tell Blake that her bullet went to you. I have to get back and help my team." He ran out of the lobby. "See you later, Jaune. And good luck."

He dropped his sword to the ground, but this time, he looked pale and terrified.

Whatever it is he was about to say earlier, then it was this:

"I'm so doomed." He said with fear combined in that sentence.

He sure is, and he sure isn't wrong.

Well, that was the first start of TATNGU. I have to say, this isn't really something I do, but unfortunately, yes, I have to give the details for their new attire. Besides, it'll be nice to let them have some new clothes. And if you're wondering that these are the clothes that they wore in Volume 7? Well, its not, this is some crazy idea I came up with, along with some references from other fan artists who made their own design.

Also, if you're wondering why there isn't some Lancaster content into it? Is because I'm saving that part for later. And you'll probably know who will the person be that's going to assist the blonde knight.

Also, another thing to add. I won't be adding the villains in the story. It's kind of risky for me to add them there since I really have no intention to put them and didn't give any plans for their purpose since this will also focus on them. But I decided to focus on the main story's plot instead.

And, about Jaune not being a well-developed knight? Well, that's the whole reason what this story's about. Sure, Pyrrha won't be in it to help him train, but during the chapter in which someone will help him, that's the time that he'll be able to learn how to fight like with the sword.

Also, before I forget, here are some short descriptions for Team ARSAR's members:

Jaune Arc – The knight who started from zero, and still started from zero after three years as a student, but there are small developments.

Ruby Rose – The leader of team RWBY, now a member of team ARSAR as its well-aiming, speedster of a sniper/scythe wielder.

Sun Wukong – Once a leader of team RWBY, now the supportive member of team ARSAR who would be like a best friend, or a brother figure, to anyone. Even if he's a bit annoying.

Fox Alistair – The partner of Coco Adel, now the same old laid-back, sarcastic, blind, yet skillful, member of team ARSAR.

Reese Chloris – The tomboyish "small sister" of team ABRN, now the same tomboyish, free skater of team ARSAR. The only difference is that she wanted to spend some time with her childhood friend.

Well, that's it for now. And updates appear either after two days or on Thursdays. But as of now, I might be updating after two days. Also, feel free to read some of my other fics to wait. Leave a review, constructive criticism is allowed, and I'll see you in the next chapter! Bye!
