I'll try to find a rhythm with updating. So far, I only have six chapters completed in my Word Doc. I do have a plan with this story, hopefully it's good. Enjoy!
-P.S. I did try to proofread everything. No, I don't want a Beta reader. I just like to write then post. If there is a mistake that makes a sentence completely unreadable, let me know and I'll try to correct it as soon as I can.
Chapter One
"You told me it would be done today," I said, trying very hard to control my tone. If I acted bitchy, then he'd take even longer.
"Well, I'm sorry Miss Swan, but I have other orders. They take priority over yours." He said.
I wanted to cry, "You promised me you could do it. My bakery will be opening in three weeks. I need the sign."
"The best I can do is the thirty-first." He said.
"The thirty-first are you kidding me? That's one damn day before my bakery opens. That's completely unacceptable!" I snapped.
"I'm sorry," He shrugged, "It's the best I can do."
I huffed and walked out of his building. I can put that down on the list of things that are going wrong with my new bakery.
I couldn't believe this. It seemed like everything was falling apart. I had hope in the sign guy, since he was Esme's recommendation, but now he screwed me.
Part of me wanted to call Edward and complain. But I knew what he'd do. He'd walk in there playing the role of my intimidating fiancé and get the sign guy to not only make the sign on time but also apologize.
It was nice that he could do that, but this was my bakery and I wanted to handle it on my own. Trying to deal with everything was so much more challenging than my old bakery. I had a lot of help from my neighbors on Bloor Street. I've quickly come to realize that people in Manhattan weren't as friendly.
I was on my way to grab a sandwich when my phone started ringing. I picked it up and sighed when I looked at the number. It was Edward's business advisor. He was overseeing everything for the new bakery, making sure all the proper permits were in place. Every time he called, it was because I needed to sign or review something.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hello Mrs. Cullen, how are you today?" He asked, his voice chipper.
"I'm fine, Eric," I said, "And you?"
"I'm good," He said, "Unfortunately I'm going to need you to swing by and go over some stuff, sign a couple things."
I sighed, "Alright, I'm on my way."
My stomach growled but I ignored it. I could eat later, I needed to get things finished with the bakery. I wanted to open in three weeks.
Four Hours Later
I was finally able to walk out of Eric's office. I felt so burnout. He literally went over every little detail with me. Which I greatly appreciated, but now I was completely exhausted. I didn't have the chance to eat either.
I was quickly making my way to one of the gas stations nearby to grab a snack when my phone started ringing again.
"Hey, Billy."
"Hey Bella, we found an issue with the pipes. We're going to need to you come right away."
I sighed, "I'm on my way."
It took me about twenty minutes to get to the new bakery. I was using Edward's car today since I had so many errands to run. I hated driving the SUV, I couldn't park it very well. I was grateful I had a private parking lot in the back of the bakery.
Jake was the first to greet me as I walked in. He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Hey kid," I smiled, "I heard there was a problem with the pipes."
"Oh yeah," Jake frowned, "Grandpa's in the back."
He followed me to the private bathroom that was in the room I was planning on converting into a tasting room. It was much bigger than my old tasting room. This whole building was bigger than my old one.
"Hey, Billy," I said.
"Hey, Bella," he said, with a little frown.
"So, what's going on with the pipes?" I asked.
"I'll show you," he said, pulling out his flashlight and leading me into the bathroom. A square piece was missing from the wall, "So, as I was painting, I noticed this spot smelled a little. I cut a little piece of it out to investigate. Turns out, all of these pipes are covered in mold."
"Are you kidding me?" I said, "The lady who sold us this building said everything was fine."
"It looks like it was an oversight. It would be something they wouldn't catch unless they gutted this place."
"What do you suggest?" I asked.
"Well, you need to call someone who knows more about mold than I do." He said, "They're probably going to need to make sure it's not dangerous, clean it, and check the rest of the property."
I groaned, "I could cry." I picked up my phone and started looking for mold people.
"It'll be alright. They can have it cleaned quickly. Maybe even before the bakery opens up."
I sighed heavily and nodded, "With the way everything is going, I wouldn't be surprised if I had to delay the opening."
"Positive thoughts Bella, positive thoughts," Billy chuckled.
I walked out of the back and leaned against the counter. I needed to find a mold guy and quick. I wanted to open the bakery in three weeks. It's been a month already. In another month, I'd be getting married to Edward. I didn't have time to delay anything.
As I was looking through different mold companies, I began to feel a little hot. I brushed the back of my hand across my forehead, trying to cool myself down. A few more moments passed, and I suddenly felt very weak.
"Hey, Jake," I said, "Could you bring me a chair, please?"
"Sure."
He brought a chair over and I was moving off the counter, my legs gave out. Jake yelped and called for his grandfather when I hit the floor.
Ten Minutes Later
I felt myself being lifted and placed onto something soft. I could hear several voices, but I could understand what they were saying. It took several moments for my eyes to finally open. My vision blurred at the brightness and took a moment to adjust.
"Mrs. Swan," A deep voice said, "Mrs. Swan, are you awake?"
"Uh, I think so?" I said softly, "What's going on?"
"You fainted," the man said, "We're taking you to the hospital."
"The hospital?"
"Yes ma'am," He said, "We should be there in a few minutes. Is there someone we can call for you? Someone who can meet us there?"
"Uh, my fiancé," I said.
"Okay, do you remember his number?" He asked.
I nodded, my head spinning slightly from the movement. I gave him Edward's number and started to drift back off to sleep.
The ride to the hospital was quick. I must've drifted off because I was awoken by the paramedics rolling me into a room. Once I was settled, I began to drift off again, but I heard a familiar, panicked voice.
"Bella!" Edward said, quickly coming to my side and placing a hand on my cheek, "What happened?"
"I fainted at the bakery," I said, waking up fully now. I was feeling a little bit better, "I think I might've just been tired. I feel better now."
"I called Leah," Edward said, "She needs to run some tests on you and make sure you're okay."
"We don't need to bother Leah," I said, "She's probably busy. I'm sure a doctor here can help."
"I'm not taking any chances."
Thirty minutes later, Leah walked into the room. She was smiling, as usual.
"I heard someone passed out," She said as she looked at a clipboard, "How are you feeling now Bella?"
"I feel fine." I said, the ice water had helped a lot.
"Why did she pass out?" Edward asked.
"Well, it from the doctor's evaluation, it looks like a combination of dehydration and not eating anything today." Leah said.
"You didn't eat today?" Edward asked.
"I was going too, but I kept getting really busy. I didn't have time." I said.
"It is very important for you to eat and drink often," Leah said, "Even if it inconveniences someone else."
I nodded, "Alright. I won't forget to eat and drink tomorrow."
"I think it's best if you take a week and relax," Leah said, "You're running yourself ragged and you need to take care of yourself. For you and the baby."
"I'll be fine," I said.
Leah gave me a look, "Okay, it's not a suggestion. You need to stay in bed for a week and take it easy. If you don't you could be looking at something much worse than fainting."
"I can't be in bed for a week. I've got things to do." I crossed my arms stubbornly.
"I'm putting you on bedrest for just one week. You need to relax and take care of yourself. Eat three meals a day and drink plenty of water." Leah said, "Now, I'm going to get going. I'll be calling to make sure you stay in bed."
"Don't worry, she's going to rest." Edward said. I shot him a look.
"Alrighty, I need to be heading out of here. It was great seeing you two. Call me if you need anything."
Once Leah left, I was able to leave the hospital. I didn't really say much, because I was trying to think of a million different reasons as to why I shouldn't stay in bed for a week. Edward stopped by one of my favorite burger restaurants and got me a burger, fries, and a chocolate shake. All of my favorites, which I happily ate as we drove home.
When we got home, I spotted Esme's car parked on the street. My eyes widened.
"Did you call your mom?" I asked.
"Yeah," He said, "She's going to hangout for a week. Make sure you have everything you need. Cook some meals, do a couple things around the house."
"Edward," I hissed, "You did not need to call your mother to babysit me for a week."
"Leah said you need to stay in bed and relax. Mom's just going to help out a little and make sure you don't get bored."
I loved Esme, I truly did, but I did not want a babysitter.
Edward and I walked into the house, where Esme was standing in the kitchen. She smiled when we walked in, putting the teapot on the stove.
"Hey guys," She said, "I'm making some tea. Would either of you like a cup?"
"No thank you," Edward said, "I'm going to put the TV upstairs."
Edward walked off to get one of the TV's. I sat at the counter and watched as Esme fixed her tea.
"How are you feeling Bella?" She asked, putting a cup in front of me.
"I feel fine," I said, "Edward probably exaggerated."
She chuckled, "He's a worrywart. He can't help it."
I nodded in agreement, "You don't have to stay here the whole week. I don't want to disrupt your plans."
"Oh, you're fine. The only plans I had were with you and the girls. We have to get a couple of things done for the wedding."
I snorted, "Just put it on my list. I'll get to it eventually."
Her brows furrowed, she opened her mouth to say something, but Edward walked back in.
"Alright, the tv is in the bedroom. Come on Bella, let's get you in bed."
I sighed and hopped off the stool. I could already foresee this week in bed being complete hell.
What did you think? Loved it? Hate it? Lemme know in a review!
