The Adults, Daenerys decided, were very silly people.

The first adult she remembered, was Ser Willem Darry. An old man who had been very strict to the servants, but very kind to her -and to her brother- He had taught her to read and would often give her sweets and other treats. Then he fell ill.

Viserys had taken her, and a bag with what few belongings he could scrounge -a few jewels, some of their clothes, and their mother's crown- and made a run as soon as he heard that Ser Willem would never wake again. And Daenerys knew all too well that she had cried herself to sleep in his arms as they made their way to where they were now.

Their current guardian, this Tirso, was also silly. He was more strict with Viserys, and had given her a dance instructor. He was also teaching her the numbers and the High Valyrian dialect. She had seen that he did not get angry too often -and she had, in the last two moons, never seen him angry at herself- He was not a sweet person, but he would often have a smile for her, He also had some very strange friends. Then there was the rule that he had, which Ser Willem had also had before. Neither Viserys nor herself could go out of the house unescorted.

She thought it was silly, but unlike when they lived with Ser Willem, in that house with a Red Door, Tirso would usually take them both to the markets. They were always to dress in the Braavosi fashion -unlike Ser Willem, who insisted on having them dress and do everything in the Westerosi fashion- and every morning Tirso made sure that Annaria and Taella checked that their hair did not need to be dyed, and had them dye their hair if it was needed.

"Some day little one, you'll see why we're doing this, and one day you won't have to, but for now, there are very bad men who want to hurt you and your brother," He had explained the first time, "But they do not expect to see a little girl with black hair."

It was all so silly! But at the same time it was scary, and so she went along with it.

Tirso would also tell them stories. They were long -so one story took several days of sitting by the fireplace and listening to the man- but they were so interesting! Some were tales of witty knights beating monsters, others were of plucky children making life hard for an evil uncle, and many many others. Of course, she knew that his work was related, but still.

Then there were the servants, whom Tirso seemed to treat more like friends, or at least so she thought. Annaria and Taella who prepared the food, the baths, the beds, and were more often than not teaching Daenerys to do many other things. They were teaching her to sing, and to play a strange musical instrument she had never seen before their arrival.

There was also her dancing instructor. At least that was what he called himself, he taught her to be aware of things around her, or to keep her balance when walking. It was all very silly, but both Tirso and this instructor insisted that it was important, and so she went along.

Her days were similar. On the mornings they would all break their fast together, then Viserys would go to the gardens so that Tormo -who towered over everyone, but was always so kind to her- could teach Viserys how to fight. Her brother was often bruised, but he never complained.

Some days they would go out with Tirso to the markets, other days they would go with him to the Theater, where they would meet with his other silly friend, Maelio, who laughed at pretty much everything.

Her brother was also silly, thinking that she did not know some very bad things that had happened to their family. But he loved her dearly, and she knew he was protecting her. She also loved him, and thus would not tell him that she did know all too much about such things.

On a particular afternoon, her brother had made Tirso angry, but he didn't shout. Daenerys didn't even see him do more than frowning, but she could almost feel that he was angry, she was sure of it.

Once Viserys had left the room that afternoon she stood from her chair and walked up to the older man.

"Did you know my father?" She asked him, after all, he had said many things that were very different from what Ser Willem had told her. The way he had talked with the Dornish Prince some days earlier, and what she had overheard him say to Viserys, made her wonder if one of them was lying.

As she saw his face go from shock to... something she couldn't quite recognize, Daenerys reaffirmed her position.

Adults were indeed very silly.
