Though very exhausted from their long journey to and through the land of Mordor, Clay helps Starflight the rest of the way up the slopes of Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring. And the only way to do that is for Clay to carry Starflight on his back.

During an invasion of the city of Sanctuary, Clay stops Starflight from succumbing to the power of the One Ring. When all hope feels lost, our favorite Mudwing reminds our favorite Nightwing of why they are going through their journey and that there's always hope.

As Starflight the Nightwing comes to terms about his destiny, his best friend Clay the Mudwing chases after him. And after saving his friend from drowning in the river, Starflight sees just how much of a good friend Clay is to him and takes him with him to destroy the One Ring for good.
