The gist being that Mahal and Yavanna, creators of the dwarves and Hobbits respectively, come to our world, tell a nerd, "hey, pack a bag because Middle Earth needs you. Save all the ones who die." And then drop her on bilbos doorstep at the start of the hobbit. Only they forgot to tell her that no one speaks english.

Bretrayed by his own soulmate, Durin VI damns the Valar for their choice and earns their wrath in return, to be reincarnated until the wrong between them is righted. Thorin Oakenshield, Durin's lastest reincarnation, believes nothing can break that curse but for the Arkenstone that was stolen so many years ago.
