I am having there be many time skips between chapters to speed up this until we get to Shippuden...

Shin did as he was told and limited himself to two shadow clones only, using them to read up on whatever scroll he had or if he was traveling they would work on his chakra control or they practice their accuracy or katas with his staff or body. Anything that could or would help. It was a tremendous boon and one that he deeply appreciated... especially now that he was in the bingo boo. Orochimaru had put a two million ryo bounty on him, and that had brought about both good things and bad.

In the last three months since he was entered into the Bingo book, ever twenty-three bounty hunters, ambitious Ronin or other such people had come after him. This was naturally bad, making it hard to do his job and heal people. Some of the lesser, weaker Monk Temples turned him away saying he would bring danger including Waterfall's temple, which sucked... however, there was a positive in that he got a lot of combat experience outside of just bounty hunting himself.

Speaking off, he was currently being attacked by a group of three Chunin from Sound! They were around twenty each of them, garbed in cow print and they had their faces covered. One of them, the leader, was running through foreign handsigns.

"Radiant Sound Waves!"

Replacing with a leaf, a trick he had picked up rather easily given his medical chakra control. he watched as the air itself rippled with sound doing tremendous damage. A nearby rock exploded into dust and he knew he had to get that jutsu... and he knew that Sound jutsu would make an amazing addition to his repertoire and would piss off Orochimaru if he mastered them.

'It is like what Kin, Dosu and Zaku did during the Chunin exams... it was an interesting thing, especially Kin... I really need Sound jutsu, destructive and genjutsu... didn't Shikamaru say that one of the Sound Four used Sound based Genjutsu? I need to dig into this.'

Channeling chakra into his staff, he blurred and smacked into the two lesser ninja hard enough to bisect them. Twirling this staff, he slammed the staff into the leader's chest sending him flying back. Running through some handsigns, he slammed them into the man's chest, pinning him with seals that would restrain all but the strongest of ninja. It was rudimentary as a seal, only really working against those with less chakra than him which was most people. Against the rea Naruto it would fail, same with jJiraiya he was sure.

"Tell me, my adorable friend, about that jutsu of yours? Or shall I tear you apart limb from limb, then heal you up,... rinse and repeat for... I don't know a few days?" He didn't leak killer intent, he didn't need to, but his threat seemed to hold sway.

The man shivered. " Lord Orochimaru will torture me, turn me into an experiment!"

He laughed. "And I will do far, far worse... if you really wish to be free of Orochimaru's evil, join Mist or Leaf, both are rather desperate but until then why don't you tell me all about that nifty jutsu! I am all ears, I cannot wait to hear all about it. Start from the beginning... " This time he released a thin veil of killer intent, smiling warmly at the man who finally broke and gave up his secrets. It really took about ten or so minutes of talking, of a dozen different exercises to manipulate sound waves, to simulate them and so on... it was a rather delicate process and he was not skilled enough to do more than the basics. Satisfied, he smiled at the man. "Thank you, goodnight." And them with a twitch of his staff, he snapped the man's neck. "I so have to break into more of Orochimaru's bases... but first, to finish my current goal.., getting to the Land of Whirlpool!

Since he was shunted from Waterfall's Temple, he skipped goals and decided to travel the long way around by foot to the Land of Whirlpools. He was rather close, only a few miles away. He had taken a very long time, patching people up, healing wounds and so on. In the three month trip, which should have taken maybe two weeks, he had healed over four hundred people and taken in over fifty bounties, killing about fourteen sets of bandits and four domestic abusers. Of course, he was also slowed down by the fact that he trained for a minimum of eight hours a day to bolster and keep up his skills.

In the last three months, he had finally mastered the usage of the Samurai's rupture technique and Flash technique. He had managed to get to level two out five for their kenjutsu style ( though he rarely used a blade) and had managed to create four different seals on his own... or well, technically he adjusted four different seals to make them more useful. His healing had taken a sharp, sharp increase to the point where he didn't need any hand signs to heal people, could do the chakra scalpels ( though not medically in battle as he lacked experience and had no surgery training) and so on. He also managed to incorporate Shizune's suggestions for medical taijutsu, which involved a lot of evasions and typically added positions. He had his clones, practicing their accuracy, throw rocks and senbon at him, while he dodged while on the water. It really helped him over the last three months. He started reading up on poisons and was working on that, but needed a safe place to gain immunity to them and learn how to heal them before he managed to use them.

He was sure that he had officially broken the barrier into Jonin level, but barely jonin level, more special jonin with a specialty in healing and seals than anything else. Not that he was not proud of that, he was sure he could crush Naruto in minutes, Lee in a bit more time and Sasuke overall though with some difficulty if he used that Curse Mark...

If he found anything interesting in Whirlpool, which he would share with Naruto freely, he might grow even further!

And so, with that in mind, he made his way slowly towards Whirlpool, happy and proud and ready to finally see the land of his forefathers for the first time.
