Jon I

The freezing cold air is wiping around Jon Snow. Jon opened his eyes to see a familiar room that he hasn't been to since he left for the wall four years ago. "My room," he gasped. Quickly standing to his feet and opening the window of his room and seeing Winterfell. It was as wondrous as he remembered. He looked around his room and saw his familiar objects of his childhood. The godswood that he went to when he ran into Lady Stark and when he wanted to be alone. He hadn't been here in so long and wanted so badly to call this place his home.

It was all here, but how was he here? Was he dead? The last thing he remembered was getting stabbed by his own brothers and them saying it was for the watch.

"Jon," a voice he hadn't heard in years softly called for him. He turned from the window that he was staring out from and saw his father Eddard Stark standing, his long brown hair blowing lightning from the winter breeze.

"Father," he could hear the uneasiness in his voice. "Father, where am I?"

"Jon, you are home," he walked toward Jon and grabbed his hands. There were tears in both Jon and Eddards eyes. Jon brings himself to speak. "I am sorry."

"Sorry?" he gasped in surprise at his apology.

"May I ask what you are sorry for?" Eddard Stark asked, confused.

"I am sorry I wasn't there for you or Robb. I left my family helpless. I could have helped Robb or done something to help."

"Sadly maybe you could have done something but we can go change the past we can only move forward. The last time we talked I said the next time we see each other I will tell you about your mother," Eddard said.

"Who was she, where was she?"

"Before I tell you about her, let's go back to the Tourney at Harrenhal. There was a Knight known as the Knight of the Laughing Tree. Very few knew who this knight was but the knight made an enemy of the Mad King. He instructed his son Rheagar Targaryen to take care of the knight."

"Who was the knight?" Jon asked.

"It was my sister Lyanna, she was known as the She-Wolf of Winterfell."

"So is that why Rheagar kidnapped her and raped her?" Jon asked.

"That's what Robert believed to be true, but it was far from it. Lyanna fell in love with Rheagar and she went willingly, not forced. Nor did he rape her."

Jon was looking at his father curious, waiting for him to continue. "Me and six others went to the Tower of Joy where they said she was. I came across three of Aerys Targaryen's Kingsguard. There was Ser Gerold Hightower. Ser Arthur Dayne. Ser Oswell Whent."

"But why were there three Kingsguard protecting Lyanna?"

"They were protecting their King?"

Jon looked at his father even more confused than he was before. "Ser Arthur let me pass knowing when I told him I wouldn't hurt anyone in the tower." Ned took a moment to breathe before he continued.

"When I made my way in the tower I found Lyanna bathed in blood. She thought I was a dream, I got to her and she was dying. She knew it and I knew it. In her last breaths she asked me to protect someone." Once again Ned Stark took an even deeper breath than before knowing what he was about to say.

"She made me promise her I would project her baby boy."

Jon was so shocked he didn't know what to say. "Where is her boy?" Jon asked, trying to wonder where he was.

"I am looking at him." Ned Stark finally said. Jon looked at his so called father with shock he fell down landing on his bed.

"Jon you were never a bastard or my son but my nephew. Rheagar married Lyanna and had a second wife. Your name that she gave you was Jaehaerys Targaryen. I promised your mother to protect you and I promised the last remaining Kingsguard that I would teach you as my own son."

Jon didn't know where to look and he started to speak very slowly. "Where are the Kindsguard?" Jon said in almost a whisper.

"Well after I left the tower with you and your mother. The last remaining kingsguard went to Starfall where they faked Ashara Dayne's death so they could disappear. Then they went to Dragonstone where they nursed your Grandmother back to health and disappeared with her as well. The last known place that I knew where they were was Qarth."

"Are there any other people here besides you and me?"

"Are you asking me if you can see your mother then yes. Follow me."

Jon or now Jaehaerys was following his Uncle out of his room to make his way towards the godswood. Jon saw a man and two women all having their hands clasped with one another. But when they saw Jon they broke apart looking at the man making their way towards them. The man standing was about as tall as Robb with Robb's hair length. Then he looked at the two women and one looked very Dornish while the other had the look of a classic northern beauty. She looked wild and fierce like Arya but also loving and passionate. She was wearing a light blue dress, the color of the dress looked like a Winter Rose.

It took Jon a moment but then he knew who the woman was. "M…" He knew what he wanted to say, but he could barely bring himself to say it. He never thought he would be saying those words. "Mother?" Jon finally said.

There were tears of love coming from her eyes, Lyanna Stark Targaryen nodded her head. "My baby boy." Was all she needed to say for Jon to run into her arms. All the ways that he built up as a child were gone. This is what he wanted for the longest time to know what it felt like to have a mother's love. He buried his head in the crook of her neck. Lyanna was sobering while she held her boy for the second time. "My sweetling."

He didn't know how long he held his mother's grip. It could be forever but then he felt a hand on his shoulder. He saw a smiling man with tears of his own in his eyes. "My son." Jon letting go of his mother for a moment made his way toward his father finally getting him into a sobering hug as well. "You are a man."

Jon brought himself to finally say it. "Father." Jon looked back at Ned Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. "You don't know how proud we are of you."

"You became the man we always dreamt that you would become," Rhaegar said.

"It's time Jaehaerys," Ned said.

"It's time for what, I just got here?" Jon asked curiously. But before Eddard Stark could say anything it was his mother Lyanna that spoke up.

"You will see us again but it's time for you to meet the grumps down in the crypts.

Jon looked over to the crypts of Winterfell nervously. Always fearing the place as a child and never feeling like he belonged down there. But whenever he was in the crypts it always felt like someone was watching him. Which was the case because the Kings of Winter and the Wardens of the North have been getting statues for close to eight thousand years.

Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen placed their hands on Jon's shoulder's. "You are a Stark as much as you are a Targaryen. If those old grumps can't see that. Then they are blind to see how honest and noble you have become," Lyanna said furiously.

The Crypts of Winterfell

As Jon made it down to the crypt he could hear the Kings of Winter arguing. But once he made it to the entrance it all went silent and they all looked at him. Jon descended into the crypt and the Lords & Kings of Winter surrounded him while shouting various insults to him.

"Bastard," came from multiple Starks of old.

Jon could only notice a few Starks that he knew about one was Theon Stark the Hungry Wolf and Brandon Stark known as Ice Eyes.

Multiple of the Starks continued to shout "You don't belong down here," The Moon King Walton Stark and Brandon the Burner were the loudest.

There was just too much going on and other insults flying out of the Starks of old. There were so many Starks, The Laughing Wolf, Rickard Stark, Benjen the Sweet, Benjen the Bitter, Edwyn the Spring King. Jon was getting so flustered he couldn't even stand. Jon went down to one knee as the insults got louder and louder.

Till there was one loud yell. "THAT'S ENOUGH!"

The mysterious man went into the crowd and broke it up.

"Son take my hand," said the mysterious figure. And when Jon looked up he saw probably the most legendary man of House Stark or he is better known as Bran the Builder.

"You all call yourselves Starks," Bran said while giving a cold stare to the other Kings of Winter.

"This man right here may not have the name Stark but he has the blood of a She-Wolf running through his veins. But Eddard Stark the Quiet Wolf, the son of Rickard and Lyarra Stark had it right even with all his faults."

Bran took a pause to give a cold and furious glare at the crowd.

"The one thing he had right was. When the snow falls and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Bran again took a pause to figure out what to say and turned his gaze to Jon.

"And this man standing right here may not have the name Stark and he may be a Targaryen but he hasn't forgotten our house words Winter is Coming. Which many of you seemed to have forgotten."

It was Benjen the Bitter that spoke up. "But has brought wildlings beyond the wall!"

But it wasn't Bran who spoke for Jon rather it was Torrhen Stark the King Who Knelt that spoke up.

"So what if he brought wildlings beyond the wall? He saved the remaining giants. The freefolk are northern men and women. They have the blood of the first men running through their veins. And we all know why Brandon here did build the wall and it wasn't to keep the freefolk out. But rather to keep the Nightking and the Others out. Which by the way Jon here has been fighting ever since he arrived at the wall as a green boy. With all that said go back to what yall were doing before Jon arrived here and let Brandon teach Jon the ways of the north that you all have forgotten."

When Torrhen finished all the Kings and Lords of Winter gave the King Who Knelt a glare, but they all decided not to say anything and go back to the small groups that they were in.

"Thank you Torrhen, I'll take it from here," Bran said. Torrhen took one last look at Jon and said.

"Teach him well Brandon he is probably the last hope for our house. The others are forgetting what makes them a Stark."

And with that Torrhen went back with the other Kings of Winter and they all took their leave. Now it was just Jon and Brandon in the crypts.

"Let's start at the beginning of the crypt," Bran said.

In their slow and silent walk Jon asked. "Why do the other Lords and Kings of Winter hate Torrhen?"

Bran took a pause to gather his thoughts and said. "They hate Torrhen because he knelt to the dragon's, your ancestors and also that he gave up the Crown of the North which we held for thousands of years."

Jon took a moment to process what he said. "But no one says or cares for how many lives he saved or how many houses that could have gone extinct."

Brandon chuckled at the young man. "You aren't the first man who said that. The Kings of Winter are a stubborn lot. It would take a lot of convincing to change their mind."

They finally made it down to the end of the crypt. "Before we even get started the crypt is not just connected to Winterfell but travels all the way south to the Isle of Faces and all the way up to The Three Eyed Raven's Cave. It has old magic created by the children of the first to keep the Nightking and the others out. While giving us a safe place to travel. Many may not know this because of a cave in that happened many years ago. Many thought the crypt would collapse. I can tell you that it won't, you might want to remember that."

They started at the first statue which was Brandon Stark but better known as Bran the Builder. "Sadly since we don't have a lot of time we have to go quickly. I build the wall to keep the Nightking and the others out. I did so by allying with the Giants and the Children of the Forest. Which you must do again if you wish to defeat him once again."

They walked till they got to another Brandon Stark. "In front of us is Brandon Stark but better known as Brandon the Breaker. This King of Winter allied with Joramun to defeat the Nightking and the Nightqueen." And with the last word Jon gave Bran a shocked stare not knowing what to say.

"That's not even the darker part. Brandon the Breaker's brother was the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Till he went on a ranging mission and on that mission he came across a mysterious person. But it wasn't a person at all, rather it was the Nightqueen. She was created by the children."

Jon once again stood there with a shocked expression. "You want me to ally with the very thing that I've been fighting against."

Jon just kept on shouting, till Bran spoke up. "They created the Nightqueen as a weapon to defeat the first men. The children have atoned for their sins. Every being has made a mistake, even your father and uncle."

Jon stood there silent not knowing what to say. "If you have nothing else to say I'll continue. The Nightqueen was weak at this point. She needed a way to get powerful once again. That's when the unknown Stark and Nightqueen met. Then they later fell in love and they got married and ruled over the Nightfort for thirteen long years till Brandon the Breaker and Joramun the King Beyond the Wall. After the defeat Brandon obliterated all memory of the Nightqueen and the others. But unknown to Brandon and Joramun the Nightqueen and the unknown Stark fled to the Lands of Always Winter. And that's where the Nightqueen gave birth to a baby which you know today as the Nightking."

Bran let all this new information sit with Jon, till Jon said. "So the Nightking is a Stark."

"Yes, the Nightking is a Stark, that's why he waited this long to try and take the North. He waited till House Stark was at its weakest, so he could take what he thinks is rightfully his."

Both of the men continued to walk further down the crypt. "You know many of these Starks: Rickard the Laughing Wolf, Theon the Hungry Wolf." Bran said.

They kept walking on walking till they stopped at a statue he didn't recognize. "The Stark we stopped in front of is again Brandon Stark but this Brandon Stark is better known as Brandon the Shipwright. His bones shall never be found, but you can find him with his new pack, the Starks Beyond the Sunset Sea. Maybe one day his descendants will make it back to Westeros. But sadly, who knows."

They continued their walk in the crypt when suddenly Brandon stopped. It was where Bran turned around and said, "There is no statue for this King of Winter. I don't even know who the Stark King is. But what I do know is that this King fought against another King. This King ruled over Sea Dragon Point and he was named the Warg King. Wargs or skinchangers are people with the ability to enter the minds of animals and perceive the world through their senses and even control their actions. You have fought against a warg Orell his name was he warged into an eagle I believe. But this Warg King allied with the Children of the Forest. But they were defeated by this unknown Stark King and his sons. These Starks killed his sons, beasts and greenseers, but they took his daughters as prizes."

Jon had a disgusted look on his face and Bran noticed the face he was making. "House Stark wasn't considered an honorable house but a ruthless one. That kept the North for eight thousand years. The honorable part didn't come until your father uncle whatever you want to call him Eddard Stark."

Jon kept looking at Bran. "But what does this have to do with me?"

"It has everything to do with you, when your so-called Brothers of The Watch killed you. Your soul went into your direwolf ghost. I believe if you and your siblings or cousins kept your direwolves alive. You all could have become powerful wargs and wargs into your direwolves."

Jon seemed interested in the day. "I've been having dreams where I am Ghost is the warging."

"Yes, it's the beginning. Trust Ghost as he is one with you and maybe there might come some surprises with it. But Ghost is not the only animal you can warg into, it's weaker now but it can be done," Bran said.

Jon tried to figure out what animal he could be talking about but his mind was drawing a blank. Bran broke the silence and said one word. "Dragon."

"Dragons are extinct," Jon said shocked.

"They were until your aunt brought them back when she walked into a fire. But this dragon has been in the lake in the Godswood since the Dance of Dragons. A dragon that disappeared that most believed died."

"What dragon would that be?" Jon asked.

"Cannibal. Shortly after a Dance of Dragons Cannibal disappeared. But what people don't know is that Cannibal arrived here in the North and with the help of the Children of the Forest he was put in the lake in the Godswood of Winterfell. Where the Prince that was Promised and the Son of Ice and Fire would awake him." Bran said.

"But couldn't the Targaryens warg into their dragons before me. Don't the Targaryen have North blood," Jon said.

"Yes but the Northern blood you say they have is Blackwood blood. They don't have the blood of the Warg King in them. You are the first Targaryen to have Stark blood. That gives you certain advantages. But before you go take those advantages and enjoy your life, maybe marry that wildling princess you have been seeing. You wouldn't be the first Stark or Targaryen to have multiple wives."

Jon looked blankly at him but yes he found Val very beautiful but he never thought anything would develop more than a friendship because of his vows. Till Jon heard.

"Before you go."

"What where am I…"

Before he could even finish his sentence he landed on a hill of grass. He didn't even get the chance to look up when he heard a massive roar. Then looked up to see a dragon soar right above him and then he knew where he was. He was at Dragonstone.
