The farther Mustang digs, the deeper the mystery runs, and the more convinced he becomes that Edward isn't guilty. Can he and his paralegal, Riza Hawkeye, prove Edward's innocence? AU. Royai.

drabble written for FMA Day 2016

Edward Elric lives in a new Amestris. Alchemy is a relatively new science, and thus still in the process of being studied. The outcomes are limitless, until the Fuhrer discovers that one can combine animal DNA with a human's and get a whole new breed of soldier. The only issue? Edward Elric, State Alchemist, Lt. Colonel Aviator for the Amestrian Air Force.

Ed and Al look back on their journey and how it effected them as they stand before the ruins of their childhood home. For October 3rd.

Roy only wished he could have done more. That he could comfort this soldier far too young to be one, the Edward Elric who shouldn't have to be invulnerable. But there were different ways to help someone, and Roy would do his best. (Parental!RoyEd)
