After receiving a desperate call from a State-Alchemist and friend, Colonel Roy Mustang travels to Central for a meeting with him only to discover a terrible fate has befallen the General and his family. Stationed in the barren deserts of Ishval, Riza Hawkeye carries out mission after mission, executing rebel leaders on the orders of her superiors. But, as the carnage grows around her, she begins to question the true purpose of the war. Everything comes to a head when a routine mission is interrupted by Kimblee, forcing her to make a choice between her principles and her orders.

Mia Kornfeder dreams of joining the military to be just like her father. However, with the mixed blood that runs through her veins, she will find that a different battle will require her service.

"OC guide" this, "Mary Sue test" that. Will no one think of the poor characters who are forced to dwell in between? (This is more for Self-Inserts in general; I'll just be using Fullmetal Alchemist for examples and analogies and the like.)
