It has been 16 days since Naya's insemination. Two days past the time Doctor Laine said they were able to take a home pregnancy test. Both Anna and Doctor Laine had warned them not to take a test before they hit the two-week mark. Naya being slightly wary, decided they should wait a couple of additional days just to make sure they don't get an inaccurate reading. Both girls had decided they would wait until they got home from work that evening before taking the tests.
It was just after 5 pm when both girls got home. Heather could tell Naya was beyond nervous and trying to hold off as long as possible for fear that they wouldn't get the result they were hoping for. Heather did her best to reassure her wife but she was feeling just as nervous herself. She just knew she had to be stronger for Naya right now.
After dinner, the girls made their way to their bedroom and Heather grabbed the CVS bag she had thrown on the bed earlier after they got home. Naya sat on the edge of the bed completely motionless staring off into space.
"Naya sweetheart. Look at me." Heather encourages while kneeling in front of Naya with her hands resting on her wife's knees.
"Come on baby, look at me." Naya slowly lifts her head to meet her wife's loving gaze. "I know honey. I know. This is a scary moment. I won't deny that. I'm feeling the weight of it too. Just remember, you're not carrying this burden alone. We are way too strong and awesome to have this bring us down. Whether the results are positive or negative we will get through it. You are not alone in any of this. Alright, my love?" Heather finishes by leaning up from her knelt-down position and placing a delicate kiss on her wife's lips.
"You always know just what to say. Thank you, baby." Naya says while smiling sweetly at the woman she loves more than anything in this world.
"I know my girl." Heather responds with a wink.
"How long do we wait?" Naya shuffles around the bathroom nervously.
"The box says 3 minutes so I set the timer on my phone. I actually set it for 4 minutes just to be certain. Can never be too safe." Heather smiles while looking up at her wife pacing back and forth. "Come here, beautiful."
Naya stops and turns to walk into Heather's waiting embrace. Instantly feeling a calming sensation that only Heather can provide. She lays her head so it rests just above her wife's heart. As she listens to the steady beats she is reminded again of how much this woman means to her.
Naya is startled out of her blissful thoughts when she hears the timer on Heather's phone. Heather quickly turns it off and glances at the test which they covered with a piece of tissue.
"Alright beautiful, do you want to look or should I?" Heather asks quietly while her fingers dance along Naya's arms.
"You please" Naya chokes out trying to Will away any tears that threaten to fall.
"I love you so much." Heather says while cupping both of Naya's cheeks and placing a kiss on her lips.
Naya smiles in return mouthing the words back to her before Heather turns and lifts the tissue that's covering the test. Heather inhales deeply before flipping the stick over to read the digital words that would either tell her pregnant or not pregnant.
With one final glance at her wife, Heather flips the test over, and tears instantly fill her eyes and she sinks down against the counter until she's on the floor with her back against the vanity. She folds her hands over her face feeling completely overwhelmed and shocked.
"God I knew it. I hate this!" Naya shouts tearfully as she opens the bathroom door and runs to the bed.
Heather is jolted out of her own emotional bubble and quickly gets up and scurries over to her wife who's laying in the fetal position under the covers with tear stains down her face.
"Oh baby no, come here. I'm so sorry!" Heather says quickly as soon as she notices the tears streaming down her wife's beautiful brown eyes.
"It's not your fault I can't get pregnant!" Naya cries out letting all her emotions out that she's been holding in since their appointment two weeks prior.
"No baby I'm sorry for a different reason. I didn't mean to upset you. Baby, can you look at what I'm holding?" Heather asks as she lifts Naya's chin slightly from where it's buried in the plush pillow.
Naya notices Heather still holding the test and looks up at her with a furrowed brow. "Why would I want to see that again?" Naya asks feeling both confused and frustrated. She wanted to toss that test in the trash and never see it again.
"Please baby.." Heather asks sweetly just above a whisper.
Naya looks at Heather completely confused but decides to humor her wife and grabs the stick turning it so she can read the result. The second her eyes meet the small screen she gasps immediately sitting upright. Naya rubs her eyes making sure she's reading what she thinks she is and it's not just her mind playing tricks on her.
"Heather…" Naya says shakily.
Heather sits up and positions herself cross-legged in front of Naya and cups her cheeks in the most loving way while moving her thumps to catch any tears.
"You're going to be the most beautiful pregnant woman I've ever seen." Heather says.
Naya notices Heather looking at her like she's the most perfect thing to ever exist. Naya doesn't even try to hold back the tears anymore and allows them to fall freely as she lets herself fully take in this moment with her wife.
"We did it, baby. The love of my life is carrying my littlest love." Heather says with a beaming smile and pulls Naya close leaving absolutely no space between them.
"Oh my god!" Naya exclaims between sobs. "I'm pregnant!" Naya lifts her head to look in those crystal clear blue eyes she adores so much. She then lays down against the pillows that are propped up against the headboard and lifts her shirt revealing her still flat belly.
"Heather there's a person in here…" Naya stares at her belly in absolute amazement.
Heather adjusts her position so she's laying on her stomach with her head near Naya's belly. As if it's the most natural instinct in the world, Heather places a gentle kiss right above her belly button. She props her head up with her hand while the other one palms over her belly in absolute amazement at the little life they created together.
"I love you so much my littlest love. Your mami will take such good care of you. I promise to take such good care of your mami until you're born and I get to take care of both of you. We love you more than anything already." Heather says to Naya's belly while placing a sweet kiss on her abdomen.
Naya stares at Heather with a complete look of adoration allowing a few stray tears to fall listening to her wife talk to their baby. Their baby. Naya still can't comprehend the last 15 minutes. She went from being completely devastated to feeling like she is on top of the world all within a matter of minutes.
"He or she will love you so much, baby." Naya says with a smile that Heather swears she's never seen before. Something about it is different than she's ever seen. She's certain she's never seen anything more perfect in her life.
Heather places a kiss on Naya's belly then scoots up until her face is right in front of her wife's. "I've never seen you look more beautiful than you do right now. I've seen a lot of beautiful places, people, and moments in my life. We've seen movie stars on the red carpet, I've seen you in your gorgeous lace wedding gown. However, I have never seen anything so perfect and breathtaking as you look right now. You truly take my breath away my gorgeous Naya." Heather says in the most loving and sincere way that makes Naya's heart flip.
"Are you trying to make me cry.." Naya chokes out through a laugh.
"Not at all my love. The only tears I ever want to see from you are happy tears. I just want you to know that you both are the absolute loves of my life." Placing her hand on Naya's stomach while wrapping her other around her back and around her arm holding them both close.
"I don't think I've ever been this happy," Naya says glancing down at her belly where her wife's hand rested. She gently moves her hand to overlap Heather's and turns to place a kiss on her cheek.
"Come on my love. Let's lay down." Realizing that it was after 9 pm and she had an insanely early call time tomorrow.
Naya shuffles under the covers and lays on her side. Heather moves to turn off the bedside lamp and shuffles under the covers behind her wife wrapping her arm around her midsection laying her hand flat against her belly. Naya smiles as Heather places several kisses on her shoulder and the back of her neck.
"I love you beautiful" Heather says while leaning over the place a long kiss on her wife's lips. "I love you too little love" Heather adds while leaning over and placing a kiss on Naya's stomach.
Morning came fast especially for Heather who was up just after 3 so she could leave the house by 4 am for an early dance rehearsal with Zack and Harry. Heather was always a morning person but even this was pushing it. She slowly got out of bed being extra careful to not wake her pregnant wife. Wow, that sounded incredible.
Heather quietly made her way to the kitchen and turned on the coffee pot. The girls always had a ritual of having the coffee ready to go so all they had to do was turn it on. Heather reached into the cupboard and grabbed a travel mug setting it on the counter while grabbing a banana and protein bar to take with her. She filled her travel mug and replaced the cap making sure to leave just enough so Naya could enjoy her one cup of coffee in the morning. Since the insemination two weeks ago Doctor Laine wanted Naya to cut back to one cup of coffee in the morning. Heather was glad she was able to have at least one cup. Naya and mornings do not mix. Naya without coffee in the mornings was just asking for trouble.
Heather writes a note for her wife and leaves it on the counter. She makes sure to set out a coffee cup and sliced some fresh fruit and a protein bar for Naya so she wouldn't have to worry about making herself breakfast before her call time at 8 am. Heather checked one last time to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything and finally grabbed her keys and scurried out the door.
Heather, Zack, and Harry along with about 10 backup dancers have been rehearsing a new number for about 2 hours. It was now just after 6:30 am when Zack announced they were done with rehearsals for the day and can go back to their trailers and continue onto hair and makeup for the day's scenes. Heather walked back to her and Naya's shared trailer.
After taking a quick shower and blow-drying her hair she figured she had about a half-hour before she needed to go over to the hair and makeup trailer next door. She suddenly had an idea. Heather got up from the couch and quickly grabbed her phone calling the number for the florist she always used. They worked with Heather and Naya for their wedding so she knew the florists personally.
"Hi this is Samantha, how can I help you?" A woman answered right away.
"Hi, Sam it's Heather Morris."
"Hemo! How are you?" Samantha cheerfully greeted.
"I'm amazing, thank you! I was wondering if it's possible to have a large bouquet of white and light pink roses with some greenery made up and I can meet you out front by security so you don't have to go through that mess." Heather asked in a hopeful voice.
"Of course, we can. I'll make it personally since I know your style and I'll bring it over in about an hour. Will that work?" Samantha replied.
"Absolutely. Thanks again, Sam! I know this was extremely last minute but my beautiful wife deserves it, and I know you're the best there is when it comes to flowers, you nail it every time!" Heather adds with a smile.
"You're sweet! I'll go ahead and get started and I'll text you when I'm pulling up so you know when to meet me." Samantha said.
"Perfect. I'll call security and let them know. I'll see you soon! Thanks, girl!" Heather happily says before saying their goodbyes. Heather smiles and grabs her phone before making her way to the hair and makeup.
Heather had just met Sam at the front gates of the Paramount entrance and one of the security officers offered to drive her back to her trailer in one of the carts so she wasn't carrying around a huge arrangement. Once they pulled up to her trailer he bid her farewell and she made her way inside placing the large arrangement on the table so it was on full display as soon as you walk in.
Sam had read Heather's mind and created the most gorgeous arrangement complete with a stunning gold vase filled with the most beautiful white and soft pink roses with ivy and greenery draping the sides. It looked like something you'd see in a magazine. Absolutely exquisite. Heather sat down and wrote out a note and placed it next to the bouquet. She glanced at the time on her phone seeing that Naya should be arriving in the next 15-20 minutes. Heather quickly grabbed her phone and bottled water from their mini-fridge before closing the trailer door and heading to set.
Naya had just arrived on set and was walking towards her trailer when the girls called out for her. She turned and saw Amber, Diana, Lea, and Jenna running up to her.
"Nay!" Lea shouted excitedly. Naya turned and smiled at the girls.
"Hey ladies! Where's my wife?" Naya asks looking around not seeing any trace of the blonde she loved.
"She's just finishing up blocking a scene with a few of the guys and Ryan. She should be done shortly." Jenna added.
"Oh, awesome. I miss her." Naya says with a pouty frown making Amber bust out laughing.
"Girl you saw her a few hours ago. You two are sickening!" Amber says while continuing to laugh.
"First of all, I haven't seen Heather since last night. She was gone for rehearsals before I woke up." Naya says again with a pout making all the girls chuckle.
"Come on mopey. Let's go to your trailer." Lea says
The girls continue to chat amongst each other while walking up to the trailer. Naya pulls open the door and can't help the gasp that escapes her mouth seeing the most breathtaking sight on her tabletop. The girls trip over each other trying to see what all the fuss is about. When they finally all make their way inside they can't help but let out their own squeals and awes.
"Oh my god…Naya! It's gorgeous!" Diana shouts.
"Can Hemo be my girlfriend…seriously." Lea adds with a slightly annoyed tone. "Cory never does anything like this. I might get a bouquet of roses on Valentine's Day but this is just ridiculous!" Lea exclaims
"Lea we all wish we had a relationship like them. It's no secret. It's so freaking adorable but also depressing that none of our relationships seem to measure up." Jenna adds
Amber snaps Naya out of her lovesick gaze and points to a card that's laying just under the large bouquet. Naya follows her gaze and Amber hands her the folded note. The girls take a seat on the couch while Naya opens the letter still standing next to the flowers. An instant smile appears on her face when she sees Heather's handwriting.
My gorgeous, Naya. Every day I'm reminded of the beautiful person you are inside and out. I truly don't know how I got this lucky but I thank God for you every day my beautiful Naya. My wife, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, and to my littlest love, mama loves you more than words can say. To both of you, my love for you is endless. -Heather
Naya wiped the tears streaming down her face but it was no use, she was basically sobbing now. Her friends stand and bring her into a group hug making sure she's alright. "God I love her…"
"Honey are you okay?" Lea asks with a concerned tone.
Naya nods trying to catch her breath between sobs.
The friends look on slightly confused at what the note could have said that brought on such a strong reaction. Just as they were starting to get concerned they hear a couple of voices and then see Heather approaching the trailer and opening the door slightly taken back by the large crowd that was occupying her trailer. It only takes a second for her to hear and then notice her wife sobbing in Jenna's arms. Heather immediately snakes her way through the girls so she can get to her wife as fast as possible.
"Naya? Sweetheart, what happened?" Heather asks as panic starts to set in as she pulls her wife close to her chest.
"I'm ok. Promise" Naya says while sniffling and wiping her tears. "I read your note." Naya finishes with a smile as more tears filled her eyes.
"I meant every single word, my girl. You're a masterpiece and just wanted you to walk in and see something that would hopefully start your day off on a happy note." Heather replies with a smile.
Naya looks up at Heather and shakes her head smiling. "I have no idea what I did to deserve you but thank you, baby. I love you so much" Naya says while cupping Heather's cheek and crashing their lips together.
"Do you think they know we're still here?" Lea asks turning to the other girls.
"Doubtful" Diana responds quickly.
"Yes we know you're here…relax! Thank you girls for keeping my wife company while I finished up." Heather says waving to the girls as they leave.
Heather takes a seat on the couch and pulls Naya onto her lap wrapping her arms around her stomach protecting something nobody else knew existed. Naya turns knowingly and places a kiss on Heather's cheek.
The day was finally over and the girls were just finishing their nightly routine and looking forward to jumping into bed after a long day on set. Heather finishes first and pulls down the covers waiting for Naya. When she sees Naya approaching the bed she pulls back the sheets helping her wife lay down gently treating her as if she's the finest piece of china.
"Baby you know I'm okay right?" Naya says after Heather fluffs out an extra pillow placing it on the other side of Naya to help support her back.
"I just worry. You did quite a lot today and I don't want you to over-exert yourself. I'm sorry, I don't mean to hover." Heather says looking down shyly. Naya notices abs immediately lifts Heather's chin and smiles.
Don't be sorry. Ever. This is your child baby. I understand. I promise to tell you anytime I'm hurting or feel sick. You have no idea how much I love you for how supportive and attentive you are to me. You treat me like a queen every day. We're both so damn lucky." Naya says while placing her hands over her belly.
The next 3 weeks went by uneventfully for the girls. About two weeks ago they had their appointment with Doctor Laine to confirm the pregnancy and find out their due date. They are due March 21st and Naya is currently 9 weeks pregnant.
Heather woke up around 5 am and gently maneuvered out of her warm bed reluctantly while gently taking the covers and placing them over Naya again. She had a 5 am call time and although they lived fairly close to the studio, with LA traffic she always made sure to leave plenty of time. She was glad this was the last day of extremely early rehearsals for her. They were finishing up two large numbers for the upcoming episodes. She loved being able to drive to work with her wife so these early call times definitely won't be missed.
As she's about to leave the house she suddenly hears a commotion upstairs and gets confused. She knows Naya would never be up at this time voluntarily so she decides to see what's going on.
Once she enters their bedroom she notices the light leaking through the bathroom door which is open just enough to illuminate the still pitch black bedroom. She slowly opens the door and her heart breaks seeing Naya in the fetal position with her head resting against the side of the bathtub near the toilet. Heather slowly makes her way over and bends down now noticing the tears still escaping her eyes.
"Hey beautiful, what's wrong honey?" Heather says gently while brushing some of the hair out of Naya's face and placing a sweet kiss on her forehead.
"Heather?" Naya responds slightly confused while opening her eyes for the first time since Heather came in.
"Yeah sweetheart, it's me. Are you okay?" Heather asks
"I thought you already left… suddenly I felt extremely nauseous and I ran to the bathroom as fast as I could. God, I feel awful!" Naya responds with a shaky voice.
"Oh, honey. I'm so sorry you are not feeling good. What can I do to help you, my love?" Heather replies while one hand is rubbing up and down Naya's back and the other one is cupping her still flat belly.
"I don't even know…" Naya tries to respond before leaning over the toilet to throw up once again.
Heather quickly sits down behind Naya spreading her legs so Naya is sitting in between them. She's gently caressing her back with one hand while the other is taking her fingers and gently dancing over her belly hoping the slight tickling motions work as a distraction.
When Naya seems to be done Heather flushes the toilet and grabs a piece of tissue to clean Naya's mouth. She then grabs the mouthwash for Naya and a bottle of water she had in her purse to rinse.
"Just spit the mouthwash in the toilet baby. Here's some water honey to rinse afterward." Heather says while grabbing a washcloth from the linen cabinet and running it under the sink and wringing it out before returning to her spot beside Naya on the floor.
"Here you go, love." Heather says while folding the washcloth and dabbing her face and arms with the cool material immediately bringing relief to the brunette.
"Hmm, thank you, baby." Naya hums while leaning back into her wife's embrace and suddenly realizing Heather's probably been sitting with her for the last 20 minutes.
"Oh god baby, you're going to be late because of me…shit! I'm so sorry. You can leave, it's okay, I'll be fine." Naya blurts out rather quickly. Despite her efforts to convince her wife she's perfectly fine, Naya subconsciously tightens her grip on the blonde basically telling her without words, 'I know you have to leave but I don't want to be without you' which is breaking Heather's heart in a million pieces. She knows she's needed at work but she also knows she'd never leave Naya when she's sick like this.
"Honey there's no way I'm leaving when your feeling like this." Heather starts but Naya is quick to jump in.
"Heather I…" Naya adds but is quickly cut off by her protective wife.
"No Naya. I'm not just leaving the house while you're sick. How about this…why don't I bring you to the set and we can set you up in the trailer that way your much closer to me if you start feeling bad again. Can we do that please? I can't leave you." Heather says pleading with her wife.
Naya can't help but feel a surge of love at Heather's protectiveness coming through and decides to finally give in.
"Okay baby I'll come with you. I would feel better having you nearby. I swear I won't bother you though. I know you have a ton to get done today and…" Naya's ramblings are cut short as Heather cups her cheeks and places a kiss on the tip of her nose and the center of her forehead right between her chocolate brown eyes.
"Love, slow down honey. First of all, if you need me I'm there. No questions. I will be extremely upset if I find out you didn't call me if and when you need me. Naya this is you and me, there's not a single moment of this I'm letting you feel alone or vulnerable. You two are my priority without question. So please promise me that you will call, text, or have someone come get me the second you need me. Naya you have to promise me that." Heather replies almost pleadingly knowing how stubborn the Latina can be.
"Uhhh…OK. As much as I hate the thought of disturbing you at work I do promise to let you know if it gets worse." Naya says looking up at her wife who's wearing a concerned look. "Baby I promise." Naya adds.
"I believe you. I just… I don't know. I love you both more than anything. I think my mama instincts to protect you both are starting to kick in high drive because the thought of anything happening to either of you is more than I can handle." Heather replies while staring down nervously.
Naya straightens up and takes her wife's hand that's closest to her. "Heather, you have been so perfect through all of this and we're only just getting started. You are so attentive, unbelievably sweet, you treat me like a queen, and always make sure I know you're a text or call away. I won't break your trust by hiding anything from you, we're in this together baby. The three of us." Naya finishes with a reassuring smile.
"The three of us…" Heather says with a big smile before bringing Naya into a loving embrace cupping the back of her head in an effort to keep her safe and close. Heather then sank down further and rested both hands on Naya's hips and placed a series of gentle kisses over her wife's flat tummy.
"And good morning to you my love! I'm so sorry it was a hectic morning for you. You are getting comfortable in mami's belly so it can make her feel sick and uncomfortable. I know you don't mean to make mami sick. I love you both so much. You're my two perfect angels. My entire life." Heather says lifting her head up after placing one long-lasting kiss on Naya's belly.
Naya smiles at her wife's actions and allows Heather to help her to her feet. Naya gets ready for the day which Heather insisted she wears comfy sweats and a loose shirt, not wanting her wife to be uncomfortable at all throughout the day. Naya happened to have the day off which Heather was more than grateful for. While Naya was getting ready Heather called Zack to fill him in letting him know she'd be there soon.
The girls pull into work and Heather quickly turns off the ignition before grabbing her bag and hastily exiting their black Mercedes. As always, Heather makes her way over to Naya's side and opens her door making sure to grab her hand so she doesn't misstep.
"You doing okay beautiful?" Heather asks after locking the vehicle and wrapping her arm around her wife's back while they started to walk to their trailer.
"I'm okay so far. Still slightly nauseous though. I'll probably go in and lay down right away." Naya lifts her head slightly to see Heather looking concerned biting her bottom lip. "Hey baby, look at me." Heather finally loops up at her wife. "I'm going to be okay. I'll probably feel like crap for a few more weeks then hopefully it will subside. We're okay. I know why I'm sick and that makes it all worth it." Naya adds with a smile making Heather's heart melt.
"I think in my mind I know you're okay and will be ok. I just…god I'm going to be a complete mess when our little one gets here. I swear if anyone hurts either of my babes I will…" Heather says but her rant is cut off by her wife looking up at her lovingly letting out a small giggle.
"Alright mama bear, let's go." Naya chuckles and grabs Heather's hand leading her to the trailer.
Once Naya was settled on the couch, Heather made sure everything was in arms reach so she pulled one of their tables close setting the remote, a bottle of water, a piece of fruit, and a breakfast bar in case she felt the urge to eat. She also made sure her phone was within arm's reach and plugged it into the charger beside the couch. Even though it was morning and Naya's phone still had 98% battery, Heather just needed to plug it in again for her own peace of mind. After assuring an already sleeping Naya had everything she needed she quietly made her way out of the trailer.
"Hey, Hemo. What's up girl?" Amber greets as she enters the auditorium set and sees Heather and the guys working on the next number.
"Hey, Amber! Heather leans over the edge of the stage and high fives her friend. "Are you headed to hair and makeup?"
"Yep. I just saw your G Wagon out front and figured you'd be in here rehearsing. It's going to be a long day I have a feeling. Naya's a lucky girl for getting the day off!" Amber says casually while pulling off her sweatshirt.
"She's actually here today. Not working, but she came with me since she wasn't feeling good and I didn't want her to be sick and that far away. I felt much better knowing I could get to her in 2 minutes rather than 35 minutes. And that's always unpredictable with LA traffic." Heather replies.
"Naya's sick? Oh shit. Poor girl. Flu bug?" Amber inquired.
"I think so. She was throwing up this morning and I wasn't comfortable leaving her alone. You know how cuddly and attached she is when she's not feeling good." Heather says with a small pout already missing her girl.
"God that sucks. I hope she feels better! I have about 15 minutes before hair and makeup are done with Diana and they call me in. Do you want me to swing by your trailer and check in on her? Make sure she's doing okay?" Amber asks in her usual motherly tone that the cast was very much accustomed to. Amber had always taken that role amongst the cast.
"Really?" Heather looks up with a sense of relief spread across her face. "Amber, that would really make me feel a lot better." Heather breathes out feeling a sense of relief knowing Amber of all people could be there if she wasn't. There's nobody else that could ease Heather's mind like Amber knowing the girl will always give it to her straight and not sugar coat anything.
"Of course my friend. I'll head over there now and text you an update." Amber says
"Ahhh you're a godsend, Amber. Really thank you so much." Heather finishes before turning back around and focusing on the choreography.
Amber knocks gently on the trailer door slowly opening and closing it behind her. She sees Naya sprawled out on that couch. When Naya hears something she opens her eyes which were just closed while she was trying to relax. Naya smiles seeing her friend walk up and take a seat on the arm of the couch.
"Hey, Amber! What are you doing here?" Naya asks with a friendly smile.
"I heard you weren't feeling the best when I went and saw Hemo in the auditorium so I offered to come to check on you and see if you needed anything so your poor wife doesn't have a worry fit" Amber says letting out a small giggle.
"That sounds like my baby." Naya smiles thinking of Heather. "I feel okay at the moment. Still quite nauseous and just overall crappy but hopefully I'll feel up to eating a little something soon. That should help a bit." Naya responds.
"Can I get you anything before I run over to hair and makeup?" Diana should be done when I go over, did you want me to send her over to distract you a bit before she's called for her scenes?" Amber asks
"Sure why not. Unless she's busy then don't bother her, but it's nice to have a little distraction." Naya responds
"I'm sure she'd love to come to see you. I'll head out now but hun if you need me for anything you can always text me too ok. We love you girl." Amber says
"Love you too Amber! Thank you!" Naya waves as her friend left the trailer.
Amber quickly sends Heather an update letting her know Naya is still nauseous but is doing ok and will try and eat soon. Amber also reassured Heather that Diana was coming to sit with her for a while.
Heather immediately replied thanking Amber repeatedly letting her know how grateful she was for their friends.
"Diana, how many times have you been out with that guy in the last 3 months? Every time you are you say he's alright but nothing special. Why would it change with another date?" Naya asks Diana who's been filling her in on her eventful dating life these days.
"God I don't know! He's perfectly nice but I still feel like I'm settling. I know it's 2014 but man it would be nice to have a guy open a car door or restaurant door for me once in a while. Is chivalry completely dead with men these days?!" Diana rants while pacing the length of the trailer.
"Okay first of all can you sit still in one spot. The pacing is not helping my nausea." Diana gives her an apologetic glance and sits on the bench seat across from the couch. "Ok thank you. Second of all, chivalry is not dead by any means.." Naya finishes with a smirk.
"Of course, it's not…for you! That woman literally worships the ground you walk on. Do you realize how damn hard it is for the rest of us mortals to measure up to that? I compare every date to her! I really think I need to start lowering my standards or I'll die alone.." Diana adds dramatically but with a sense of frustration laced in her voice that doesn't get past Naya.
"Di, don't lower your standards. That's not the answer. You also shouldn't compare yourself to our relationship. We're just us. I don't know how to explain it. Just don't lower your standards and settle for something that will eventually make you unhappy." Naya responds to her friend.
"I know your right. It's just exhausting to see you too wishing I could have that. You know?" Diana adds
Before Naya can answer she suddenly gets an overwhelming wave of nausea and runs to the bathroom and sinks down heaving into the toilet. There wasn't much in her stomach anymore so at this point it was basically dry heaving. Diana rushes in after her friend and quickly takes a hair tie and pulls her hair back and starts rubbing her back rather harshly which only adds to Naya's nausea.
"Not so rough Di." Naya chokes out through a stream of tears. She really wished her wife was with her right now.
"Sorry. I suck at this." Diana responds feeling flustered and overwhelmed.
"Diana, can you call Heather? I really need her." Naya says while heaving into the toilet letting her tears fall once again.
"Yeah of course. Let me run and grab my phone. I'll be right back!" Diana adds nervously while running out of the room.
"Hemo?" Diana says when she hears the phone pick up
"What's wrong?" Heather says already sensing the panic in Diana's voice.
"It's Naya. She's sick and is asking for you. I'm trying to calm her down but I suck at this!" Diana replies somewhat panicked.
"I'm already running over there Diana. Give me 3 minutes. Please go sit with her until I get there." Heather says calmly but Diana can tell she's rushing over.
"Okay. I'm with her. Naya are you okay?" Diana asked while she was still on the phone.
"Diana don't try and make her talk if she's sick. Have her take a few small breaths in and out." Heather responds immediately. Diana has put Heather on speaker so Naya could hear her voice. She noticed that Naya had instantly relaxed some just by heading her soothing voice.
"Heather she can hear you. I have you on speaker." Diana informs Heather.
"Hi, my love! I'm running over there I'll be there in about 2 minutes honey. Just keep taking some small breaths. Diana, can you please grab her a bottle of water and have her take a couple of small sips?" Heather says in her usual soothing tone.
"Yep." Diana runs out and snags the bottle off the table beside the couch before rushing back to the bathroom taking off the cap and handing the bottle to Naya. Naya tried to swallow some of it but instantly felt sick again.
"I'm almost there honey. Diana, you can hang up I'll be there in like 30 seconds." Heather said before Diana clicked the phone off and rubbed Naya's back again trying to be more gentle this time.
"Naya, sweetheart.." Heather says soothingly as she enters the bathroom.
"Oh thank god!" Diana says before getting up off the floor and allowing Heather to sit beside Naya.
Heather quickly walked over to Naya and sank down to the floor spreading her legs allowing Naya to lay back against her. Heather immediately began running her fingers through Naya's hair while her other hand lifted Naya's shirt and ever so gently begin tickling and making soothing patterns on her stomach. Of course, Diana had no idea about the baby so she simply thought it was a gesture to soothe her upset stomach.
"Oh, my love. You're okay. I've got you now." Heather said while continuing to caress Naya's head and stomach.
Naya let out a hum of contentment for the first time since Heather had left the trailer that morning. The overwhelming amount of peace that the blonde dancer offered her was something only she could give.
"Here beautiful, let's try a small sip of water. Very small. You'll feel better if your throat isn't completely dry." Heather says calmly while grabbing the bottle from Diana.
"Here honey. Small sips." Heather offered
Naya was able to take three generous sips before taking a breath allowing the liquid to soothe her throat.
"Good job beautiful." Heather replies while placing a kiss on her temple. "I've got you. I'm not letting you go so just lay back and relax.
As Heather starts humming softly to Naya, Diana instantly recognizes the song as landslide. She watches the subtle smile that plays across Naya's face while Heather runs her fingers over her cheek and down her arm while keeping her other hand on her stomach gently caressing her tan skin.
"Di, can you grab the wastebasket next to the toilet and put a new bag inside and we will take that with us to the couch in case we need it. I don't want her to have to get up every time she feels sick." Heather asks kindly.
"Of course." Diana responds. Diana quickly grabs a new bag from under the sink and replaces the current one taking it over the couch along with her water bottle. Diana watches Heather pick Naya up bridal style with so much grace and ease seeing how careful she is not to jolt her wife around. Diana stands by as Heather gently lays Naya across the couch propping her head against one of the plush pillows and then draping a lightweight throw over her wife.
"Close your eyes beautiful. I'm just going to call Zack quick." Heather states matter of factly before Naya has a chance to try and dispute her decision.
"Hey, Zack. Can we finish up rehearsals in the next couple of days? My wife is sick so I ran to the trailer. I need to be with her right now. I brought Mike up to speed with everything we added and timed out for the new number so he will easily be able to fill you and the dancers in on what we've been working on… your awesome Zack thanks so much and I will tell her. Bye!"
Heather finished the call and set her phone down. Kneeling beside the couch running her fingers gently over Naya's face and arms.
"Baby you didn't have to call Zack. I'm a big girl I could have sucked it up.." Naya said weakly.
"Sweetheart it isn't about proving how strong you are right now and you know that. If you need me I'm here. Absolutely nothing is more important than you. Do you understand my love?" Heather finishes leaving no room for Naya to rebuttal.
"God I love you. Thank you for coming back baby." Naya says as she starts drifting off to sleep under her wife's gaze and loving touches.
