A week and a half had passed by and October was officially here. Mornings and evenings had cooled down a lot and they could tell Autumn was among them.
Heather was particularly excited about the day ahead because both of their families were coming to their house and they were finally able to break the news about the pregnancy. Heather was like a kid in a candy store. She didn't know where to go or what to do, she just knew she could hardly contain her excitement.
In the last 12 days or so since the hangout with her friends, Naya had really started to show. It didn't look like bloating from that time of the month anymore. She had an actual, noticeable baby bump. Heather was completely in love with it. She loves when Naya wore her fitted shirts allowing their baby to be on full display.
The girls had discussed how they wanted to tell their families and if they wanted to do the bump reveal as they did with their friends. Both had concluded they wanted to show it off.
The Rivera's and Morris' were set to arrive within the next half hour. Both girls were so excited because they knew their families would love this.
Heather was in the kitchen cleaning off the counter after preparing some lasagna and side salads for lunch when Naya walks up behind her and wrapped her arms around Heather's waist.
"I won't be able to do that for much longer once this belly starts growing." Naya laughs
"I can't wait. You're so damn beautiful, Naya" Heather replies turning while her hand flattens and goes over the mound of Naya's belly. "I seriously cannot believe how much he or she has grown just in the last week! I mean look at you, love!" Heather says happily while continuing to caress her belly. Heather just loved it.
Naya opens the door revealing the Morris family. She immediately squeals and moves to hug all of them. Naya has put on her trusty hoodie and made sure to hug them in a way where they couldn't feel her belly.
"Get over here Naya! How are you, sweetheart?" Susan (Heather's mother) says happily hugging her daughter-in-law.
"We're so good! We were so happy you guys could come to visit for a few days! We missed you!" Naya responded with a big smile.
"Hi, darling! How are you Naya?" Andrew (Heather's father) opens his arms inviting his daughter-in-law in for a hug. "Good to see you kid"
"You too! Like I told Susan, I'm glad you were able to get a few days off. We love having you here!" Naya said
"Oh, we love coming here. It's nice to have a break once in a while." Andrew replied.
"Hey, sis!" Ashley (Heather's Sister 17) exclaims pulling Naya in for a hug.
"How are you kid? Behaving?" Naya hugged her back with a smirk.
"I'm always an angel. I don't know what you're talking about." Ashley huffs dramatically but playfully.
"Ya mhmm, angel." Naya hums in response while giggling. "Baby, come out here. These random people showed up. I have no idea who they are." Naya called into the kitchen for her wife.
Less than 30 seconds later Heather walks out jumping and squealing at the sight of her family. For the better part of five minutes, there were hugs and greetings shared.
Heather grabs the door after hearing the bell go off and opened it revealing the Rivera family. To say Heather loved Naya's family would be an understatement. Heather practically jumps in Antonio's (Naya's father) arms. They share a big hug before Heather brings Yolanda (Naya's mother) in for a hug and kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, Hemo! Looking gorgeous as always!" Mychal (Naya's Brother 26) pulls her in for a brotherly hug.
"Hey, Brother! How are you guys?" Heather smiled at them bringing Nickayla (Naya's Sister 24) into a hug.
Greetings went on for a good 15 minutes while Yolanda and Susan were on Pinterest sharing recipe ideas for Thanksgiving. Yes, it's October 1st and they're discussing the Thanksgiving menu. Those two are crazy.
Mychal, Antonio, and Andrew were discussing the latest football standings making their predictions for the games tomorrow. Mychal plays for the Raiders but they have a bi-week so he was able to join the fun this weekend which the girls were grateful for.
"Is anybody hungry? The lasagna should be ready in the next 15 minutes but you guys can dish up your salad if you are hungry. I know I'm always starving after driving." Heather asks the group.
"Yes honey that sounds delicious" Susan says giving Heather a peck on the cheek and moving to wash her hands at the sink.
"It smells amazing Hemo!" Nickayla commented licking her lips.
"Thanks, Nick!" Heather says cheerfully.
After they all filled up on lunch they made their way back to the living room and took a seat.
Heather moved to turn the tv off. Clicking the button on the remote causes the men to have a fit.
"Hey!" They all shouted in unison.
"We could be missing valuable information here!" Andrew exclaims.
"Uh-huh and that would be…" Heather says
"Important football shit! We gotta know what's going on." Antonio says raising his arms and dropping them at the same time in his lap in defeat.
"Oh my god, you drama queens. We will turn your precious football back on in a minute." Heather says with an eye roll.
"We actually invited you here for a reason." Naya said taking a seat on Heather's lap and looking at their parents and siblings.
"What's going on girls?" Susan asks.
The girls turn to face each other and Naya motions for Heather to go ahead.
"Alright. We've had quite an amazing year so far. We've been able to blend two amazing families and we're so grateful that it's not just Naya's family or Heather's family anymore…it's our family. We couldn't have asked for anything more than to see you all bond as you have. As you know we've always wanted to start a family.." Heather pauses when she hears both moms gasp in anticipation. Heather smiles and shakes her head continuing on. "You know that was always our plan. So I guess now I just have to ask you one question.." everyone nods eagerly in response.
"Are you all ready to be grandparents, aunties, and uncle?" Heather finishes earning screams and tears from all of them.
"Omg are you going to start the process soon? Yolanda asks the girls while holding Susan's hand.
"I know the process can be a bit extensive, do you have some sort of timeline to get the process started?" Susan questioned.
Antonio being the Cardiac surgeon he is was clearly interested in the medical aspect of it.
The girls realize they didn't exactly catch on to the fact they are already well on their way. They all assumed they were just announcing the start of the process. The girls shared a look and decided to have a little fun.
"We want to start the process asap so we can have a baby by Easter." Naya said holding her wife's hand.
"Honey that's not possible by Easter. First, you have to do a series of hormone injections along with either extractions or implantation, it all varies depending on the process you use. Not to mention finding a donor takes time." Antonio stated
"Well, we want a baby by Easter. It'll happen." Heather shrugs and smiles seeming to ignore every logical point Antonio just made that it wasn't possible.
"Girls I realize you don't want to get your hopes up but that timeline isn't possible." Susan says trying to get the girls to understand. Both Ashley and Nickayla are equally confused.
Heather and Naya share a look and they both nod. Heather supports Naya until she's standing and moves to stand beside her.
"Girls, what's going on?" Mychal asked.
"Here baby help me take this off." Motioning to her oversized hoodie. Heather slides the hoodie off from behind and everyone's eyes grow comically wide as they immediately see it.
"No! Are you serious?!" Susan cries out. Tears started to fall from her blue eyes.
"What?! No way! You're pregnant?! I'm going to be an Abuela (grandma)?" Yolanda tearfully says while covering her mouth.
The guys all high five each other excitedly talking about how this will be the most spoiled and protected little girl or boy with three strong guys around. Causing the girls to laugh.
Nickayla and Ashley are the first ones to hug the girls. I'm pretty sure their moms went comatose in shock.
Nickayla reaches out slowly glancing at the girls asking for silent permission. Seeing both nod and smile both sisters put their hands on Naya's prominent baby bump eliciting quiet squeaks and talking about how they'll be the greatest aunties ever. Those two were chattering so fast they sounded like two yapping chihuahuas. The girls ran off to the couch and immediately started online shopping. All the girls could do is shake their heads and smile because their sisters were crazy.
"Alright you two, are you on planet earth again?" Heather asked both moms who were now hugging each other crying.
Naya giggled at their parent's reaction. It was better than she expected. She knew they would be over the moon, but this was on another level.
"Come here the both of you." Naya asked and Heather helped them stand up and come closer. Naya grabs each of their hands and gently places them in her growing belly. The moms gasp at the feeling of roundness under their palms. Of course, more tears and hugs came towards the girls. After about 15 minutes the girls think they got most of their tears out and we're able to interact like humans again. They all sat back down on the couch. This time Heather was able to wrap her arms around Naya and place them on her belly which earned a smile from all the women in the room.
"Wait, do you know if it's a boy or girl?" Nickayla asked while the others look on inquisitively.
"We find out next Wednesday! Well, we plan to have a gender reveal next Saturday, any chance you'd be able to co…" Naya is cut off by their moms.
"YES!" Susan and Yolanda quickly reply in unison. Making the girls laugh and the guys shake their heads in amusement.
"You really thought they wouldn't show up? Please…" Andrew says while rolling his eyes chuckling earning playful glares from both moms.
"Well, obviously you're the most important people we want there so we would love to see you! We're still deciding exactly how we want to do it but we will let you know." Naya says grinning.
"Susan we need to start shopping!" Yolanda yells grabbing her lightweight jacket off the back of the couch.
"Grab your keys!" Susan shouts back."
The girls are sitting there completely amused and startled by their moms literally tripping over each other.
"We don't even know what the gender is yet! What the heck are you two shopping for?" Heather asked loudly a smile threatening to emerge.
"I don't know! Gender-neutral shit! Bye!" Susan shouts back and both women run out the door.
Everyone burst out laughing to the point of tears.
"What the hell just happened?!" Naya asked amused while wiping her tears from laughing so hard.
"Should we be worried about them driving right now?" Ashley asks earning another chuckle from the group.
"Those two are insane." Heather says while shaking her head.
Heather, Naya, Antonio, Andrew, Ashley, and Nickayla were all lounging around the living room watching Family Feud. It was now 6 pm. Their moms have been gone for over four hours. Lord only knows what they've gotten themselves into.
"Do you think they'll leave us anything to buy for our own child?" Heather asked
"They'll probably let you buy a pair of socks…" Ashley said straight-faced.
The girls shake their heads and Naya leans back into the couch propping her feet up on the coffee table. Heather's hand constantly goes over the growing bump in complete and utter amazement.
"You're so cute Heather." Nickayla said with a smile.
"She's always like this." Naya replies smiling. "She'll be the greatest mama."
Heather looks at her wife and gives her a quick peck on the lips laying her head on the back of the couch next to Naya's and continuing to run her hand and draw pictures on her belly.
"That feels so good I could literally fall asleep when you do that but I have a feeling my neck would kill me if I did." Naya confesses.
"Here my love, get up for a quick second." Heather says getting an idea.
"What? I just told you I could fall asleep now you want me to get up?" Naya asks groaning while slowly getting up with Heather's help.
Heather felt bad about making her wife get up but she had a plan. Heather grabs all four of their oversized pillows from their bedroom and brings them out to the couch. By this time both their dads shifted over to the loveseat. Naya continued to stand with both hands cradling her belly.
Heather came back in and propped a big pillow at the end on the couch angled against the back and arm so Heather is propped up. Heather sat down spreading her legs and motioning for her wife to lay back down. Naya smiled and slowly sank back into the couch. Heather grabbed another pillow and positioned it under Naya's left arm and grabbed the other one putting it under her right. Naya was laying back against Heather's chest feeling like she was floating on a cloud. Heather takes the last large pillow and props it under Naya's knees. Her body literally feels weightless right now. She sinks back laying flat against Heather's chest resting her head between the back of the couch and Heather's neck.
Heather is massaging Naya's scalp and hears her wife hum in total bliss and contentment. She smiles that she was able to provide such comfort for her wife.
"God I love you." Naya mumbles blissfully.
Their dads and siblings look at them smiling. They truly were made for each other. Anyone could see that.
The second Heather's hands moved down from her head down her arms and finally settling on her belly Naya audibly moaned. Heather gently lifted her shirt so she could feel the soft skin underneath. She started caressing and drawing different patterns and shapes like she knew her wife loved. Naya was clearly falling asleep and fast.
"Mmmm love you s…" Naya mumbled before falling asleep eating a soft giggle from everyone in the room.
"I love you too beautiful. Love you, my little love!" Heather said while continuing to dance her fingers over her stomach.
By 8:30 pm both girls were asleep. Heather's hands laid flat covering Naya's belly. Naya still had her legs propped up and her arms hung out at her sides falling on the two plush pillows. She literally felt like she was on a cloud. She also loved that Heather always knows exactly what she needs.
The girls are out cold on the couch. The rest of their family went into the bedrooms. Heather decided as long as Naya was comfortable it wasn't worth it to move her. She was already sleeping and happy. Why risk that? Heather closes her eyes once again wrapping her arms around her waist.
At 9 pm the faint sound of the door opening and locking again was heard. Heather wasn't awake enough to open her eyes yet so she just laid there half asleep with her eyes closed.
Both moms coo at the sight before them. Heather had Naya completely cradled in her arms with both hands resting on Naya's belly.
"They are seriously perfect for each other. I really couldn't have chosen anyone better for my daughter." Yolanda tells Susan.
"Naya is a gem. We simply adore her. The two of them just fit. That baby will be stunning." Susan says
"Oh, beyond." Yolanda smiles back.
"I'm curious what their donor looked like and if he had features similar to Heather." Susan wondered
"Ask them tomorrow. I'm sure they wouldn't mind sharing with you. They're pretty open about everything with family and friends." Yolanda insists.
Heather heard a tiny bit of the conversation as she was going in and out of sleep but she did make a mental note to tell everyone the baby was biologically hers.
