Susan and Yolanda had spent all day yesterday on Black Friday doing some shopping, mainly for their grandbaby. When they stepped inside the house yesterday carrying armfuls of bags everyone's jaws hit the floor. Obviously, they were expecting their moms to go shopping for the baby, it was impossible to convince them not to, but this was beyond ridiculous. Heather and Naya look at each other wondering if they left anything in the store.

It was now 9 am on Saturday and Susan was busying herself in the kitchen starting a new pot of coffee. Everyone had slept in this morning. Susan was typically a very early riser so sleeping in until nearly 9 am was a treat. Nobody had anywhere to go until later that day so there was no rush to wake up extra early. Yolanda was the second one awake and she came into the kitchen and happily greeted Susan as soon as she saw her making coffee. The two had basically become best friends as well as family. They talk all the time on the phone. They're even getting the hang of FaceTime, with the kid's help of course.

"Well good morning Yolanda, coffee?" Susan greeted

"Oh yes, that sounds wonderful. Thank you!" Yolanda replied accepting the hot cup of coffee gratefully.

"What do you think about this big surprise?" Susan asked

"I mean it's probably one of the sweetest things imaginable. It's gorgeous! It will be a showstopper that's for sure!" Yolanda says excitedly. She pauses when she hears Heather coming down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning you two," Heather says her voice still rough with sleep.

"Good morning sweetheart. Here, let me grab you a cup of coffee dear." Susan says while getting up and walking over to the cabinet to grab a cup and pour the hot liquid to the top. She carried the coffee over to her daughter who smiled gratefully.

"What are you guys talking about?" Heather asked curiously.

"The big surprise of course" Yolanda responded with a wink.

"Seriously, honey, how on earth did you conjure up this idea. It's brilliant and beyond sweet. I'm so proud of the woman you are honey." Susan says

"Ahh, I should have figured that's what you were talking about. Thank you, mom, I just hope it's a good surprise..." Heather said smirking. She really should have known that's what they'd be talking about. That's all they've been talking about since she told them.

The three ladies continues to make simple talk for a good 30 minutes before they were joined by Antonio, Andrew, Mychal, and Nickayla. Everyone knew Naya, and Ashley could sleep all day. They were always the last to wake up.

The family greeted each other and quietly discussed the surprise until they all decided to get ready for the day of shopping ahead of them.

By 11 am all the ladies were opening up the doors to the girl's Mercedes. Heather agreed to drive and everyone piled in. Both Susan and Yolanda insisted that Naya take the front seat. Heather helped her wife safely in the car and then went around to the driver's side, reached for her sunglasses, and headed down the road.

The ladies arrived at the first baby store and it was like every possible thing you could imagine for a baby was in that store. Nobody knew where to look first. Naya and Heather decided to go look at the cribs.

"Look at this one baby," Naya said pointing to the white crib off to the side.

"That one is really cute actually," Heather replied walking over and inspecting the crib making sure it would be good enough for her baby girl. Heather went on her phone to look up reviews for the crib making sure there's been so recalls or bad reviews. Naya had to smile at her wife's actions. She loves that she wants to keep her baby girl as safe as possible.

"Honestly honey the reviews and safety ratings look amazing on this one. Everyone says it's really quick and easy to assemble and you can adjust the mattress height at different levels as well which would be handy as she grows up. I think we may have found our crib." Heather said with a grin." She grabbed a worker to have them bring one out and set it off to the side until they were ready to checkout.

"Alright, what's next? Car seat?" Heather asked.

"Sure. Let's go see them." Naya replied grabbing Heather's hand and going a couple of isles away and seeing an entire row of car seats.

"Alright...wow there's a lot of choices! ok, well, I've heard some not great things about this brand so I think let's keep that kind altogether. I have to be comfortable with the car seat I put my baby in." Heather states pointing to the seat she's referring to.

Naya smiles and agreed with Heather. They continued to scan all the car seats before landing one in particular. Once again Heather picked up her phone and scrolled through the reviews and specifications of the product. She loves what the reviews were saying. Naya continued to observe the seat, feeling the soft black fabric when Heather looked over at her giving her a nod of approval letting her know it was a good one.

"Yeah?" Naya asked confirming

"It's a really good seat. Extremely safe." Heather assures while placing a hand on her wife's lower back.

"Should we get a couple of them? One for both cars?" Naya asked looking at her wife.

"Yeah, for sure." Heather grabbed the tag for the car seat which was in a little plastic holder attached to the shelf. It allowed the cashier to scan the barcode and bring the boxes out later.

"Have you girls had any luck?" Yolanda asks as the couple approaches the other four ladies who are knee-deep in the clothes section.

"Ok, first stop buying clothes. She won't be able to wear half of them. She's only one kid!" Naya playfully scolds the other women as Heather giggles and pulls her wife into her side.

"You're not the boss of us," Susan says while looking up from the two pairs of onesies she was trying to decide between.

Heather lets out a chuckle and shakes her head in amusement while her wife crosses her arms mirroring her wife's entertained expression.

"I cannot decide! Should we get the pink and white stripes or the lavender with polka dot?" Susan huffs out

"Don't kill your brain... just get both. We all know it's what you'll end up doing anyway." Ashley calls out before following Nickayla over to a different section of the store.

"She thinks she knows me..." Susan breaths out defeatedly, but everyone notices that she did in fact toss both outfits in the cart before walking off with Yolanda to buy out the rest of the store.

"Our damn mothers..." Heather breaths out trying to stifle a laugh.

"I can't with them. They're both crazy." Naya laughs out.

The ladies load all their purchases into the trunk of the car. The crib was being delivered on Monday. It worked out perfectly.

"Alright, so what did we get checked off the list?" Nickayla asked making a mental note of everything they had purchased so far and the things they still needed.

"We got a ton of the big items crossed off the list which I'm relieved about," Heather says earning a nod from her wife. "Let's see, we got a crib, car seats, changing table, baby swing, and a breast pump, and most importantly more clothes courtesy of these two." Heather finishes whole pointing at the two older women occupying the middle row of the Mercedes.

"I could so easily ground you right now..." Susan huffs out from the backseat.

"Mom I'm twenty-seven years old..." Heather replies unamusedly.

"And if you want to live to see twenty-eight you'll let me buy the lavender and pink onesies if I want to!" Susan counters back

"You already did, along with about 12 others..." Heather lets out.

"Yolanda discipline your daughter. I'm bored of this conversation." Susan huffs while looking at the woman next to her.

"Heather, leave your mother alone." Yolanda playfully scolds.

"Ughh, I swear you both will give me gray hair before my own child will..." Heather says defeatedly while turning into the main road and continuing on. Ashley and Naya try to hold back their laughter over the ridiculous banter that just occurred.

"As entertaining as that was, I'm starving and I'm sure Nay Nay is too up there. Where are we going for lunch?" Nickayla asks the group from her seat in the very last row of the car behind her mother and Yolanda.

"What sounds good to you my love?" Heather asks while taking one hand off the wheel and squeezing her wife's thigh.

"Mhmm, to be honest, I could pretty much eat anything night now but I won't lie and say pasta doesn't sound particularly amazing right about now," Naya replies while rubbing her belly.

"Olive Garden?" Heather asks looking at her wife who smiles brightly.

"Bring on the breadsticks!" Naya fist pumps into the air making the others laugh.

"Breadsticks it is, my love," Heather replies

As they were walking out of the restaurant completely stuffed from their delicious meal, they all walk to the car. Heather opens the passenger door for her wife grabbing her forearm with one hand and placing a firm steadying hand on her belly as she settles her in the seat. Heather places a kiss on her lips before closing the door and walking around the back of the vehicle to the driver's side.

She hears a paper bag and looks over and sees her wife taking out another breadstick from the to-go bag. Heather had the waiter bring over two hot bags of breadsticks after their meal for Naya to bring home with her.

"Seriously, how are you still eating?" Ashley groans out from her seat in the back.

"Shut up, I'm growing a human here. If I wants my stix, I'll gets my stix!" Naya says in her best Santana voice.

"Snixx is in the house!" Nickayla laughs out.

"I hate you." Naya breathes outcrossing her arms.

"Well, it wouldn't be a holiday unless someone said they hated someone." Nickayla laughs.

The ladies walk into the house after shopping. The four women grab all the bags out of the car and take them to the guest bedroom while heather helps her wife into the bed so she can take a nap and rest her feet and back.

"That was a lot of walking today, my love. Here baby, sit down for me." Heather says helping Naya sit on the edge of their bed while grabbing a cozy pair of sweatpants and an oversized shirt bringing them over to the bed.

"Here, beautiful, let's get you out of the jeans and into some comfy clothes," Heather says while grabbing both of Naya's hands to help her stand and quickly shimmying down her jeans and replacing them with the comfy lounge pants. She gently eases Naya back down on the edge of the bed and Naya removes her shirt, Heather reaches and unclasps her bra letting it fall to the floor, and puts on her oversized shirt.

"Lay down, beautiful. You girls need some rest."

Heather says while leaning down and placing a kiss on her wife's cheek before moving to get up off the bed but is immediately pulled back by her wife.

"You ok, beautiful?" Heather wonders

"Yea, can you hold me though? Just until I fall asleep? Please?" Naya asks sleepily.

Heather doesn't say anything, she simply gets in the bed and shuffles behind her wife. Naya instinctively scoots back until her back is completely flush against her wife's chest. Heather moves her hand around her wife's round belly and moves her hand in small circles feeling the small feet kicking her back.

"Go to sleep my littlest love. It's not time to play yet. Let mami sleep, angel." Heather tells their daughter sweetly while continuing to caress her belly. Heather is still feeling movement when she scoots down a little so she's closer to her wife's stomach. She starts singing songbird softly and purely. Naya's eyes are closed but she manages to smile in response to her wife's voice.

By the time she sings the last note, both her wife and baby are peacefully sleeping. She kisses Naya on the forehead, and a gentle kiss on the belly before getting up slowly and closing the door softly behind her.

A couple of hours later Heather was working with their moms and sisters to finally clear out the guest room which would become the nursery. They knew their friends were coming over this week to help paint, among other things, but that couldn't be done unless they have room to work with.

"Seriously how is my baby girl going to have her own room?! She's used to sleeping between us, what if she gets scared? I don't like this, she's growing up too fast!" Heather frenzied

"Heather she's like zero years old! Relax and get a grip." Ashley shot back amusingly but can't help giggle at her sister.

"Heather, honey." Susan started and motioned for her daughter to take a seat next to her against the wall. "She will sleep with you both side the bed for quite a while I'm sure before she transitions in here. Don't worry, she's not going to go from Naya's belly to being put in a room all by herself." Susan finishes

Just the thought of her daughter being scared and alone caused tears to fall out of heathers eyes.

"She'll be ok, sweetheart..." Susan says trying to comfort her daughter just as Naya opens the door to the bedroom having just woken up from her nap she's about to greet her family when she sees her wife sitting on the floor looking completely defeated and emotional. Naya immediately rushes over.

"Honey, what happened?" Naya asks worriedly doing her best to bend down but it's extremely hard with her large belly and she's completely unsteady. Ashley quickly helps to steady her until Heather grabs hold of her wife and brings her to her lap.

Heather holds her wife and baby girl tight just needing to feel them close. Naya notices she needs a moment to organize her thoughts and simply rests her head against heathers chest and places kisses on her collarbone.

"What happened?" Naya tries but Heather just buries her face in Naya's neck and shakes her head.

Naya looks around the room at the other women hoping for an answer as to why her wife is so upset.

Ashley finally speaks up. "We were just clearing out the room and Heather started freaking out about the baby growing up too fast and being left in a room all by themselves. I reminded her the kids like zero years old but..." Ashley says until heather finally speaks up.

"That's exactly it. She's zero years old. My sweet little baby girl would be in a room all by herself. She's been all warm, secure, and cuddly this whole time, now we just leave her in a room by herself!" Heather says through tears.

Naya immediately brings her wife close. "Sweetheart, you think I'm going let her be in a room by herself? And we all know you damn well won't. She'll be with us for months while I'm breastfeeding. Remember we got that bassinet for beside the bed. That's where she'll be. Right next to us. She won't be alone." Naya said softly

"I just don't want her to ever feel scared. I never want to let her down." Heather replies somberly

"With you as her momma, this little girl will never be alone. I already feel sorry for anyone that tries to mess with her." Naya smiles kissing her wife's cheek. "Feeling a little better baby?" Naya asks

"Always when you two are close," Naya says motioning to Naya and the baby girl in her belly.

"Do you think Hemo will trust us with her?" Nickayla asks Ashley jokingly.

"Not a chance," Heather smirks smugly causing them to huff and cross their arms. Naya was glad to see the smile back on her wife's face.

"Ok, Nickayla, me, mom, or Yolanda. It's an emergency and you need to leave the baby with one of us..." Ashley starts

"Then I call Amber," Heather replies monotonously making Naya burst out laughing.

"Seriously?!" Amber asks playfully annoyed

"You honestly thought I'd leave any of you four with my baby girl? You're all certifiably nuts!" Heather exclaims. Naya was giggling beside her while Heather brought her impossibly closer and held her around the belly subconsciously protecting their daughter from this crazy family.
