AN: I forgot to give Moroes his extra modifier in the last chapter for getting his 2nd class. So I added that in, and if you don't feel like rereading, here's the modifier.
[We did it boys, We ended Racism - Characters who are affected by your abilities are more likely to ignore any physical features that would normally bother them.]
Made it up on the fly, but hey, it works.
Moroes
The citizen in front of me nodded, "Yeah, I imagine aura would be nice and all, but the grimm…"
"Are an easily defeated threat," I interjected, "If you look at all of the records of even the least successful huntsmen, many are able to kill dozens of grimm on a single message. If we all did our part in defeating the grimm threat, we would be able to defeat the grimm easily."
The citizen shrugged, "I don't want to fight though."
My eyes twitched.
These are the sorts of unenthused morons I need to get through…
"If you do not fight, then what use are you to our brave men who are laying their lives on the line to assure your safety?" I asked, still trying to use influence on them to convince them of my position.
The citizen hesitated for a moment before replying, "Nothing, I guess?"
I sighed, "Regardless of your pitiful situation, you are still entitled to basic rights. And my proposal is that aura be included in those basic rights. Life on this planet is far too short to go without experiencing aura." I said, not even attempting to try to hide my disdain at the citizen.
The citizen had an exasperated face, "C'mon dude, don't insult me if you want me to help you! But uh… You know, you might have a point with the aura thing," The citizen glanced at his scroll, "Ah, shoot! I need to be there for my next interview! Catch you later, Birdy!"
Barely even waving, the citizen ran towards his destination, and I simply moved on, not too disturbed about the lack of noticeable progress in the conversation.
If he fails the interview, he'll be desperate and be pushed to more radical views. If he succeeds, then he'll likely be neutral in my own revolution due to wanting to keep what he has.
I haven't done a true old-fashioned getting on a box and giving a speech method yet, preferring to talk to a few people individually and get the general gist on how my own views are considered.
And… It is pitiful.
All of the citizens in this city can all be described as low to middle class citizens using my own reference of Japan. Yet, they all seem completely fine with their standard of living.
Simply put, none of them seem to have ambition to rise higher than what they are now. They all act like cattle, simply fine with their place in the totem pole.
To a revolutionary like myself, this is the worst sort of city to start a revolution.
Even the supposed 'oppressed' people in the slums are accepting of their less than ideal situation. The slums!
Sure, there were a few outliers here and there, but many seem to accept the chains put upon them in exchange for the safety of Ironwood's government.
A government which claims its democratic, but most of the important decisions are made solely by Ironwood, despite there being a 5 people council to act as a balance.
…Of which, 3 are the actual balance as 1 is for the tyrant, and another is reserved for the same tyrant for being the headmaster of a school, apparently.
And said tyrant has 2 of the balances in his own pocket, and the other balance is currently 'empty' due to the previous seat dying from old age, and the election for that seat is happening in about 4 months.
Truly, I never would've thought there would be a day where even the overly corrupt HPSC and the Japanese government would be preferable to this pseudo-dictatorship.
At the very least, they didn't have enough power to completely shut down the hearts and spirits of the people living in this city.
Subconsciously looking up at the flying city of Atlas, held up by some form of gravity dust, if I recall correctly, I pondered on how all of the citizens high up on their thrones felt about all of this.
Likely none at all, most likely. As I recall, most of those living up there are people who own successful businesses, people who have connections to those successful people, and no one else.
Still though, this once again raises the question of why is being a headmaster of a school enough to allow a seat on the council?
Nobody here seemed to know, and just allowed it to happen, all saying 'well, we don't know what they know.'
Ugh, what a joke-
Minor balanced patch that applies to only you received!
System updated.
Look at patch notes?
…What?
I Control Life. All Life.
ICLAL has been nerfed to no longer paralyze opponents that are 15+ higher level than you, and enemy players/gamers.
Denarius got mad lmao. Good job, MLA guy, that guy was sort of a dick.
(P.S. Don't tell anyone I know this, but did you know that you can, theoretically of course, make your plants grow fruit? Hypothetically, of course.)
(P.S.S Also the description of the ability was outdated, and because nobody except us plays druid, nobody went back and changed it. So I did it for you.)
Sincerely, Huitzli
…What?
Rereading the text a few times, I got the general feeling.
I've been weakened slightly.
Although, this Huitzli person (If my knowledge of ancient american empires is correct, I feel as if that's Aztec in origin…) has given me a bone by updating the description of the ability and giving me a tip on… Growing fruit.
…What use could I have to grow fruit? Perhaps to feed a starving populace in the scenario it would be happening in? I don't even need to actually eat food due to the player's body…
What has he changed to description anyways?
[I Control Life. All Life. - Manipulates the plant life around you to your will, defying physics and all laws of your world. Causes your mana to drain extremely quickly. Power increases as intelligence increases.]
…To be honest, I do not remember the original description, so I cannot make an accurate comparison… But this is fine.
But either way, grow fruit? There's obviously something he's hinting by mentioning fruit, but what for?
I pondered about it for a few more moments before writing my brief thoughts in my diary before leaving it be.
Perhaps speaking with a few people about my thoughts on aura will leave me with a more open mind.
Ironwood
Ironwood was stressed, paranoid, and more afraid than he's been in years.
Out of nowhere, Salem has decided to create hundreds of variants of grimm and launched a full-scale invasion onto Remnant.
…That being said, this 'full-scale invasion' seemed scattered with most of the grimm attacking villages just because it happened to be on their war path to… Nowhere.
Speaking of villages, dozens of them have appeared across Solitas without warning, all filled with confused, panicking citizens that needed to be saved.
He sent out a order to every single huntsmen is Solitas to come out of retirement or break to fight against the new grimm threat, with every other kingdom following his lead and doing the same, but no matter the reports of how many grimm were being killed each day, its as if the numbers are barely thinning.
And every day, he's been calling Ozpin for anything that would put his mind and heart to ease.
But all Ozpin has to say is 'It is likely not the doing of Salem' (How could that be? Could Ozpin know of a second entity controlling the grimm) and that 'he is currently dealing with the situation.'
It was eerily similar to when he had to cover up his mistakes to avoid a PR disaster.
He didn't like being on this side of a cover up.
Where was that aspect of trust that Ozpin gave him when he first told him about Salem? Where is the promise that Ozpin made that 'he has a few plans' in case Salem one day decided to attack without warning?
No matter how many times he's asked or pleaded Ozpin for any comforting answers, none came, and it was eating at his mind.
The door to his office knocked, "Ahem, excuse me, Ironwood, it's me."
Ah, Camilla, a fellow council member who was on it due to her popularity a few years back on expanding anti-grimm technology, and her position as the CEO of a popular security company that still gets many offers today.
"Come in," He answered, hoping Camilla had good news.
Camilia came in and sat in the chair in front of him… With a grim expression on her face.
Oh, god damn it.
Ironwood sighed, fully expecting the news to be bad, and Camilla took the opportunity to ask, "Would you like the bad news or the good news first?"
"The good news, please."
Camilla nodded, "Well, the huntsmen reports are finally showing that the grimm numbers are lowering, quite substantially, I might add."
Ironwood breathed a sigh of relief, an end to the current threat was in sight now, he could rest a bit easier tonight.
Still carrying a bit of an edge, he asked, "And the bad news?"
"There's the whisperings of an odd looking bird faunus named Moroes recruiting people for some kind of army. His ideals are that, apparently, every living being should have the right to have their aura unlocked." Camilla explained, showing Ironwood a scroll of Moroes, "Apparently, he wants to overthrow Atlas, according to my intel network."
He… Certainly is odd. He's never seen a faunus with this big of a… Head. Or any faunus with that many features being present. It was usual for bird faunus to have wings, perhaps some feathers, but to this extent with a full bird's head? God bless him if he ever gets captured by his own scientists.
But still, "He is a faunus. I don't believe it's likely that Moroes will be able to accomplish much of anything here, yes?"
Camilla bit her lip, "Well, yes, but… These observations paint a different picture." Once again, Camilla shows a graph on her scroll, this time, displaying graphs of faunus discrimination, something that all kingdoms have a record of…
…And how it's suddenly fallen by 40%.
What.
"Apparently," Camilla continued, "On the same day that all of this grimm and village thing began, a great many deal of people reported that just one day, all of their prejudice for faunus simply evaporated away. Of course, not all of them are kind to faunus now, but they are slightly more tolerant according to their self-reported observations."
What.
They just one day, on the same day all of this began, just happened to stop being racist? And instead of being quiet about it, they just conveniently decided to tell people about it for this extremely convoluted graph to be made?
To what universe had Ironwood been transported to?
"So," Camilla continued her explanation without letting Ironwood think about it, "If about 40% of the formerly anti-faunus crowd put aside their differences, perhaps even higher from people who haven't reported their mental change, then there's a high chance that, yes, Moroes may gain enough followers to become a serious threat."
Ironwood closed his eyes and attempted to calm himself while asking, "Then, why haven't you arrested him yet?"
Camilla, with her completely serious face, answered, "The PR disaster would be inconvenient, considering many citizens of Mantle recognize him on sight, and not all of them are aware of his… Ideas. It could cause a heavy backlash from pro-faunus activists if we were to arrest him without an official reason."
Ironwood stopped to think about his potential moves for a moment, and then he answered with full certainty.
"I want him exposed and arrested as soon as possible. I'm not letting a threat to Atlas appear at such a fragile time like now."
Moroes
The young girl looked dumbly at her own foot, which I had just healed using restoration due to it being broken beforehand, and then looked at her hand which was shining blue due to the aura I had just unlocked within her.
I put my hand on her back in a gentle manner, "Now, you are better prepared for this world's threats. And if you don't mind, do help me in my quest of changing this world for the better. Every bit of help would count dearly to me."
The girl nodded enthusiastically, "Of course! I'll gladly join your Aura Liberation Army! I'll follow you to the end of Remnant, Reincarnate!"
I nodded in satisfaction, "Thank you. Now, unfortunately, I have other things to do, so I must depart. I will see you soon."
And so, we left parts, and my army had gained another member.
Earlier, I had encountered someone with a missing arm, and he looked so empty and hopeless, I took pity on him and used restoration on him to find out if I could restore the arm.
And fortunately, it did.
The man was brought to tears, claiming that I revived him and now he'll be able to live his life normally again, without the ever present reminder of the grimm threat to his left.
After he volunteered to join the ALA, I had briefly thought to myself, 'I had given that man a reincarnation. A new life…"
…Reincarnate, what a wonderful word.
I do hope nobody is using it, as I ended up making Reincarnate my 'official' Grand Commander, similar to Re-Destro. Destro wanted to destroy society to build a new one on top of it, I want to reincarnate it into something new.
It was also fitting, as I've essentially reincarnated into this world thanks to some… Gods.
Yes, Gods. Why would they call something as self-demeaning as gamers? Perhaps he just didn't understand the story behind the word…
Ignoring that thought, today marked the birth of Reincarnate, Grand Commander of the Aura Liberation Army, and I've decided to celebrate it by finding the sick and broken and healing them, telling them about my ideals and what I strive for.
Most of them ended up joining the ALA right then and there, with some others taking more time to think about it, but I've been using influence every time I've been speaking, so I have no doubts in their eventual participation.
Now, while on the topic of healing…
Contract: Messiah [Empogun]
Description: Some people say healing people is a 'good guy' thing to do. But it's evil if it's done with the intention of making people look up to you, right?
Objective: Heal 20 people and get them to join your side. [17/20]
Reward: 6,250 Exp, 1 gacha token, Broken Hero's Sword.
Despite having gone out and healing 20 people, it seems as if the 3 people who I've mentioned taking their time haven't counted towards my progress yet.
That's fine, I can just go heal 3 more people.
My scroll beeped.
…Odd.
Picking up my scroll, I found that, apparently, Giran had messaged me. I had given him my scroll number in case if I ever needed to contact him digitally instead of waiting for him at the bar, but I had told Giran of my plans for his list, why would he be messaging me?
Instead of wondering the question, I instead opened his message to figure it out.
G: Don't ask how I know this, but Ironwood might be trying to find a valid reason to arrest you.
…Ah.
Already? I suppose advertising my group as an army wasn't too great in hindsight.
M: Tell me if you find out when they intend to arrest me.
M: Also, I'm no longer Druid.
M: I am Reincarnate. Grand Commander of the Aura Liberation Army.
G: Sounds great. I'll put it on your tomb if you don't get past the police.
I chuckled.
What a lukewarm response to my name change. Never change, Giran.
Now, about the government coming after me… Considering all of its top huntsmen are away currently, only leaving a bit of a military force at home as defense, I have no worry about them coming for me anytime soon.
I've been observing most of the guards, the humans and robots alike, and the humans are only slightly stronger than the robot guards.
And they're both only a level or two higher than me currently, although it's obvious that their levels are scaling to my own.
So, until the huntsmen start coming home, it's unlikely I'll be arrested before then, leaving me plenty of time for my own plans.
Speaking of plans, I still need to get those last 3 people on my side…
Looking up at the sky, it's growing a bit dark.
Hm, recruit the last 3 people, and then go to sleep, or to ignore sleep for now and finish Giran's 2nd list?
…Ah, I suppose since I don't really need sleep, I'll complete as much of the list as possible during the night.
Yes, this will do.
Contract: Messiah: Completed.
Rewards: 6,250 Exp, 1 gacha token, 1 Broken Hero's Sword.
You have leveled up 2x: 31 to 33 [Exp: 1,796/3046]
Dex: 41 to 43
Int: 90 to 94
Wis: 135 to 141
You have gained 8 stat points
Vit: 58 to 63 [Hp: 1,260]
Wis: 141 to 144 [Mp: 3,600]
Looking in the direction where the kid I had previously helped went, I once again remembered my purpose here.
That child was an orphan, yet still had to steal to make ends meet.
How tragic. He didn't even have aura to heal the wounds he would gain whenever he'd get bitten from the critters around the city or the retaliation from store owners until I had unlocked it for him.
Aura, just like quirks, are a human right. There is no good excuse for not unlocking aura in every human being.
(And fanus too. But faunus-kind is such an… Uninviting word to drop in a conversation, similar to many english words in different languages. Perhaps it was just due to him being a foreigner though.)
And the new items he's received…
[Broken Hero's Sword - An old sword from an ancient era. Can be used for crafting.
Now not dropped by a moth!]
[Weirdmageddon Summoner - Divine - Summons Weirdmageddon to your area temporarily. You are immune to the effects of Weirdmageddon.
Welcome, One and All, To Weirdmageddon!]
The broken hero's sword is ignorable until later, but the gacha item I've gained is…
…What is my luck with them? It seems as if everything I've been getting from it has been, at the very least, usable… Or at least tradable.
…It's such a shame I don't know what 'Weirdmageddon' is.
Perhaps I'll just pawn it off to someone in a co-op dungeon in 2 weeks.
Putting that aside and taking a look at Giran's second list, this list is filled out with more experienced and older members of the destroyed underworld, but is still useful nonetheless.
So, the first would be… Jenkins Forest, someone who used to act as the middleman in the drug trade.
Apparently, he got out on parole a year ago, and is still desperate for anything to drag him out of his depression.
Yes, this'll do fine…
Detective Detective
What the hell is this guy's semblance?
Moroes has been the most infuriating person he's ever been hired to do an investigation on, and he's a goddamn bird!
Well, fanus, but with a body like that, he's more bird than human at this point.
Either way, Moroes' semblance is a goddamn word search in trying to find out what it actually is.
He's seen Moroes heal people with some weird green energy thing, he's seen Moroes literally make those little potted plants grow into trees, he's seen people that he's pretty sure was the most racist people on this side of Solitas actually think Moroes had a point with his whole 'Aura is a human right' thing.
…You know, it's always bothered him a bit. Humans and faunus are called different things, but why when putting them together, it's always humankind? Maybe because faunus already look pretty similar to humans anyways?
Obviously, it messes up Moroes too sometimes, considering he's seen Moroes having to clarify to some faunus that 'humankind' included them too, trying to say 'you're all equal in my eyes, so saying them both separately means nothing.'
Strange, considering that Moroes is a faunus himself, but it could tie into something from his past, so he put that down on a notepad somewhere.
Speaking of his past, Moroes literally has no written records of him anywhere aside from 4 days ago…
…Which was when all of this random stuff started appearing all over Remnant.
…Wait a second.
If Moroes appeared with all of those villages, and then all of those, what, almost 200 extra grimm species?
Could Moroes be a grimm?
He looked over to Moroes, who was currently feeding some rats an apple he somehow got without him noticing.
…Nah, even if Moroes is somehow tied to the appearance, it's definitely not to the grimm appearances.
He ended up writing into his notepad that Moroes feeds rats, though.
Afterwards, he looked up towards Moroes and…
…There's no more Moroes.
Is his semblance also invisibility or what?!
Frantically looking around trying to find Moroes or a security camera that would've seen him, he never saw the glowing green bird on top of the building next to him.
Robyn Hill
Needing to conserve ammo, she takes out the arrow she shot towards a grimm that looked like a cube.
Throwing some of the grimm blood off, she puts it back in her quiver and takes a quick look at the battlefield which was littered with dead grimm quickly fading away and her teammates, the Happy Huntresses, looking very unhappy and catching a break.
Going over to her group, she asked, "How long have we been killing grimm out here anyways? I don't think I've been on my scrolls in days. How are you all holding up?"
May Marigold, who was on her scroll while sitting down on a big mantis-spider grimm, responded in a completely monotone and deadpan voice, "Outstanding. You know, if we keep up our pace, we might reach almost a thousand kills in this one expedition."
Joanna Greenleaf, who was doing stretches, chuckled, "We haven't reached a thousand yet?"
Fiona was on the floor eating an energy bar, but took the time to comment, "I think our kill count is at 893 right now… I hear the atlesian specialists are reaching almost 1,800 confirmed kills…"
Robyn made a surprised sound, "1,800?! Jeeze, do those guys even have breaks? And I thought we were pretty good!"
"I think it might have to do with the fact that we use arrows instead of bullets."
"Ah, shuddap, Joanna! They look good! In fact, I think that you're just-"
"Uh, Robyn?" May cut in, interrupting their conversation, once Robyn gave her attention, May continued, "So, you know that Moroes person that you found like, a couple of days ago when we left Mantle, right?"
Robyn tilted her head in confusion, "Uh, yeah? I think I paid for his hotel and food expenses for a week. Did he finally reach the news or something with that big bird head of his?"
May gave her a look, "Uh… Sort of?"
Robyn gave May a look back, "What do you mean 'sort of'?"
Instead of verbally responding, May gave her the scroll she was using.
Moroes: "Aura is a human right"
Views: 298,962. 72% Likes. 28% Dislikes.
…What.
Clicking play, she hears Moroes' voice emit from the scroll. Apparently, he chose the 'get on a box and start shouting' method for this speech.
"Please, citizens of Mantle, give me a moment of your time!"
Obviously, he must be doing something right, because before he even spoke, there was a small crowd around him.
And then he starts speaking, and her mood falls exponentially.
Sure, she could understand the idea of aura being the best thing since sliced bread, but letting everyone have aura? Doesn't he know all the stories about similar extremists doing something similar and then getting the grimm crawling all over them?
Apparently, he does, considering how he's talking about if humanity just united and had everyone do their part, the grimm threat could 'easily be exterminated'
Grimm have been here since the dawn of man, what made Moroes think that Grimm could actually, feasibly be permanently dealt with?
Even worse, what Moroes was basically saying was that 'if everyone became huntsmen, then more grimm would die which means we are free from grimm' which was she was going to object to because she swears she's killed over 200 grimm alone in these last 6 days and still see 800 more barreling towards her.
Still though, the crowd is just eating it out of his hands… They're all cheering for him.
If she didn't know any better, she would've said this was someone running for the position of mayor or something. But considering Moroes' circumstances…
This was likely going to be a revolution.
How wonderful. She sure is going to have her work cut out for her…
Tossing May's scroll back to her, she says, "Yeah, that sucks. It also sucks to be us having to kill grimm all day. Just a few more days of this, and we'll be back in Mantle."
3 days later… (Day 6)

(Never use, never use, never use, and might've been good if I knew how to use a scythe. Maybe I'll find Ruby Rose one day and bribe her to my side with it.)
It's truly outstanding how little my level has changed yet how much the experience I need to level up has grown.
Although, I do vaguely remember reading that the experience bar turns into percentages after level 50 because, and I quote, 'the system is weird like that.'
Well, regardless, thanks to the help of some of my followers, I've established a presence online, and I can really feel all of the eyes on my back due to the many people following me.
It's been very difficult to find a cameraless area that is also away from their prying eyes.
Regardless, I've been waiting for a convenient time for using a few of the tricks up my sleeve, and with the reports of some of the military coming back for 'security concerns', I believe now is the ideal time to pull this out of the waiting bin.
(Not So) Sudden Invasion! [Huitzli]
Description: Your town gets a sudden, but inevitable visit from monsters! Help defend it! (And hey, if you just so happen to be a frontline fighter in front of everyone… Well, nobody can prove that you knew the attack would happen and could adequately prepare for it, right?)
Effect: Spawns 150 grimm close to the area you are in.
Objective: Eliminate the spawned grimm.
Reward: 40,000 Exp.
The difficulty of the quest has slowly been rising while I've been letting it sit in the waiting bin, and I believe now is the perfect time to show my action in front of the people.
Ah, the sun shines bright on me, it seems as if Destro's spirit is pushing me forward.
What a wonderful day to be alive.
I must confess, I likely should go to other towns around Mantle and raise my cause over there. However, time is running short and I must fire before Atlas shoots first.
The Aura Liberation Army must become a respectable and powerful force now, or never at all.
…On a less serious topic, someone must be sharing their blessings with me on these gacha tokens.
But, the thing is, I do not have the skills required to use most of it. I do not know what weirdmageddon is so I am unlikely to use it myself, and while Crescent Rose: Falling Petals is quite a beautiful weapon at first glance, it is far too complicated for my use.
It's just extremely fortunate that I am in the world that Ruby Rose is on. Although, a quick search on the internet doesn't show much… If I remember correctly, she is a minor, so that likely explains why.
Perhaps, due to her being the 'Main Character' of this world, I'll see her one day. Although, it is completely unreasonable to think that in a story sense, I would be in a completely unexplored country in the context of the show.
Either way, as long as the Hero Player hears of my name, and reacts the way I want them to, I will win this match regardless.
The worst case scenario is if they sit and wait for me to come for them, in which case I would have to go or risk violating the 1 year rule Fair and Balanced Incorporated has set up.
Well, plans for a later date. Today. I must focus on this particular battle.
AN:
*Me expertly dodging all scenarios where I'd have to type out Moroes' monologue explaining his perspectives on aura and replacing it with "Moroes talked about X"*
And before anyone asks, extra gacha tokens are from very convenient unshown contracts that probably included a bit of crime and no other item rewards.
Same goes for how he went up 10 levels in 4 days or something.
Anyways, Moroes having enough luck to consistently get high rolls on his gacha tokens, but not having enough luck to get anything that he would actually like to use seems hilarious to my 11:44 PM self, so this is how it's going to be.
.
And as always, leave a review if you think I'm doing something stupid again.
.
[Word count of roughly around 5400. Still nowhere close to itfab 10 which had about 6000 words. That's a RIP. Don't know where I'd get those 600 other words though…]
[Are we about to get towards something important in chapter 7? Only Ymir knows.]
