Roped Into Helping
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 2
Gandalf led Hermione to a white city that was carved from the mountain. A place that he had called, Gondor. Then they were led into the deep levels before they were in a massive library. For many days, the two scaled the library.
Gandalf had said he knew what he was looking for. Only for Hermione to look through the magic books. Any that she had liked, she made a copy of them. Then she would try to learn it later.
Out of nowhere on the third day of searching, she heard Gandalf gasp. Hermione rushed over to him. Where she was a diagram of a ring in a strange but evil looking script. Only to see writing next to the ring.
Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for mortal men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne;
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them;
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
It was enough to make Hermione shiver. She did not like what she had read. After Gandalf had moved everything back where they were. They made it back out of the city.
At the gates Gandalf turned to Hermione. "I need you to go to Rivendell! I need you to let Lord Elrond know that we need to get a council to gather."
"Where is Rivendell?"
The wizard cursed slightly. "It's on the way to the Shire. From there you will have to follow the River Bruinen, north from there. Keep following it to the northeast."
Hermione sighed, but followed Gandalf into the night. Only stopping to rest their horses. But kept on going. After many days of riding. Gandalf had pointed where she needed to go.
"What if I run into trouble," asked Hermione.
"Tell them, Gandalf sent me. If that doesn't work, blast them with your magic." Then he rode off to the west.
Hermione led her horse to the northeast, following the river. Knowing that ancient civilizations had built close to waterways. Near nightfall, she was met with people with pointy ears and breathtaking beauty.
"I am here to see Lord Elrond. Gandalf has sent me."
It was enough for them to lower their arrows. Before they led her into Rivendell. A city of Elves. Once she was led into a study, one guard stayed at her side.
Before her was a long brown-haired Elf, with a sense of knowledge that she could only dream about. "Yes," he spoke with hidden power.
"I was sent by Gandalf. He wishes that you get a council meeting together."
The Elf fell back in his seat. "Whatever for?"
Hermione sighed, "One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie."
It seemed to be enough, seeing the Elf hopped onto his feet. Ordering the guard beside her in a language that she had never heard before. Before the guard ran out of the study.
"What is your name," Lord Elrond had asked.
"Hermione Granger, Gandalf's apprentice."
"What else did Gandalf say to you, Lady Hermione?"
She thought back, then remembered something before he had left. "If I see Strider, have him meet Gandalf at the Prancing Pony in Bree. He will be bringing some friends."
Elrond then waved her to follow him. They made their way into the gardens. Where they were met with a beautiful looking Elven woman. Along with a man, who looked like a ranger, from an American western movie, she had once seen.
"Strider," Lord Elrond had called out. Before they had reached the couple. "This is Lady Hermione Granger, she has a massage for you."
The man turned to her with a focus that one would give. When they are awaiting orders. "Gandalf has asked that you meet in Bree, at the Prancing Pony. He will be bringing friends."
Strider gave a nod. "Thank you, Lady Granger, I will leave in the morning."
Hermione smiled, before the Elven woman came to her. With beauty that made Hermione feel otherworldly.
'My name is Arwen. I am Lord Elrond's daughter. Would you like to join us for dinner, Lady Hermione?"
She smiled, "I would like that, thank you."
Then the four of them sat around a table. That overlooked the waterfall near Rivendell. They ate a nice, airy salad with seeds and olive oil. Before, Hermione was led to a room for her use.
Hermione enjoyed a long hot bath. Then a soft bed. Just before her sleep took over her. Only thinking one last thing. Before she slipped away.
'Be safe, Harry.'
