Roped Into Helping
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 4
Hermione woke up to knocking on her door. She made her way there. Only to be tackled into a hug. Then a kiss on the lips.
The kiss made Hermione feel uneasy. It also seemed that it was not how Harry had expected it either. The two pulled away, only to give each other a kind smile.
"Harry, I had thought…"
"So did I," replied Harry.
The two laid their foreheads against each other. Each one was not happy at the realization. But knew what to call what they had felt for one another.
"I will always love you, Harry. But it seems that I love you as I would for a brother."
Harry gave a light laugh. "Yeah, I love you too, sis." The two hugged each other.
"Where is your scar, Harry?"
He laughed, "As soon as I woke up, after the archway. It was gone. So are the headaches. I feel free."
After a while, after just standing there. "Come," he sighed. "There is a Hobbit that wants to apologize to you."
Hermione followed Harry out of her room. It took a little while. But they found all the Hobbits in one room.
"Lady Hermione," Frodo smiled up at her. "Thank you for saving me."
Hermione smiled, "You're welcome."
One of the other Hobbits, blonde hair and little larger than the others, grumbled. But she couldn't hear him. Frodo huffed and hit him.
"I'm sorry!" The Hobbit barked. He coughed, "I'm sorry. Gandalf told me to keep him safe."
Hermione smiled wholeheartedly. "Don't be sorry for protecting someone. You did what you thought was right."
He smiled back at her. He raised his hand. "My name is Sam."
She shook his hand. "Hermione." She then left the guys behind. Making her back to the tree, where had read her books from. Only to allow her tears to fall down her cheeks.
That was where Gandalf had found her. After her being alone for an hour.
"What is wrong, my dear?"
Hermione rolled her head back against the tree. "Gandalf, have you loved someone? Only to find that it wasn't the love you thought you had with them?"
Gandalf nodded his head. "Yes, I have." His eyes went out of focus. "More like the love that can't be returned. Because she was born and married, long before I had met her."
"You fell for an Elf, didn't you?"
Gandalf chuckled. "That I did. She will always be my lady." He looked over his shoulder. "The young man that traveled here with Frodo?"
"Was the one I had thought I had loved. More than family," a hollow chuckle left her lips. "But I was wrong."
Gandalf smiled like a grandfather to her. "Don't worry, as they say, there are more fish in the sea."
Hermione scrunched her nose at him. "Not something I wanted to hear."
"Yet, it's the truth. Come, let's have dinner and relax. The council meeting will start in the morning. The guests have already arrived."
Hermione hoisted herself onto her feet and followed Gandalf to the dining area. She had found many of the guests there. Gandalf had walked her around the room. Introducing her as his apprentice. From there she met men, Elves and Dwarves before the meeting.
One man, who was loud and high and mighty of himself, spoke up. "Gandalf, why bring a young woman with you? When she will face death, mainly her own!"
Hermione turned on her heel to face the loud man. "Sir!"
"Boromir of Gondor, my lady!"
"I don't care who you are or what title you may have. But I have faced things that only death would quiver in comparison. You do not know me or what I am capable of, sir. But I will tell you this, I will hold my own." She then turned around, her hair slapped him and walked out of the dining area.
"Well, I have never," he grumbled. Before he, too, walked away.
A blonde Elf stood next to Strider. "Who is she?"
"Like Gandalf had said, his apprentice." Strider gave his friend a hard look. "Why?"
"Don't know, but she is one to keep an eye on." Then the blonde Elf had walked around the room.
Hermione made it back to her room. Took a bath. Magicked cleaned her new clothes. Set her wand to wake her up, early in the morning. Then she fell asleep.
'Why does life have to be so… ugg.'
AN: Someone had asked me to do a Hermione and Harry romance. I am sorry. I could only see them as a sister and brother. I have always thought that.
I had never pictured Hermione with Ron, nor Harry with Ginny. Nothing wrong with them. Just didn't see them together. Maybe Ginny with Neville.
Now that I think about it. Harry with Luna. But Hermione, she needs someone with the same intelligence as her. Someone who will support and not hold her back. Possibly someone slightly older.
Enjoy the reading.
