Arthur ponders life lessons (and odd manservants) while Merlin dreads his first Yuletide in Camelot. Set in Series 1: When Morgana was still good, Gwen was just a servant and Merlin's friend, and Arthur (although pratty) showed great promise that didn't exactly pan out in the BBC show...

Merlin has always thought that the sorcerer chooses the familiar; his new familiar begs to differ. Fix-it fic, of sorts, for events in the S5 finale. Epilogue - At Beltane, Merlin decides to use the Horn of Cathbhadh to make peace with his past - only to find that the one man he truly wants to speak with does not appear when he summons. It is the fifth anniversary of Arthur's coranation, and the anniversary of Uthers death. Arthur is doing his best to keep his sister, Morgana, and other enemies out of Camelot, but Merlin and gaius are just trying to keep the date as only 2 anniversaries. But the number of missing rises, and dead bodies have been found, and Arthur, is praying that he will find his Guenevere...
