Pain lanced through his shoulder as he tried to get up. He had tried to fly out of this Arceus forsaken dessert, but found himself crashing, hard, into something midair. Despite Braviary's appearances, he still had the delicate hollow bones all bird pokemon had, and that meant that he likely wouldn't be flying anytime soon.
Hunger made him weak, and He didn't mean to get stuck in a desert of all places, but once he found himself there, he couldn't get out. Not when he was practically blind, anyways. He leaned himself up against some building, trying not to collapse into a heap in the sand. His eyes were already closed, and he felt himself drift off to sleep. He was terrified of doing so, considering his weak sleeping form would be easy pickings to… whatever lived here. Probably ground-types. But there could be rock-types here too, and that would be disastrous for him. Braviary could only hope that his large form would deter hostile pokemon, or humans, from him.
He jolted awake when heard some pokemon shrieking at him.
"I challenge you to a battle! I will defeat you and prove-",
Braviary scowled. He wanted to rest, not fight. And he was in no condition to anyways. That being said, he wasn't going to let some annoying whelp beat him, even if he did feel like toppling over to die.
He opened his eyes, and saw a tiny blue and black pokemon, whose palms were glowing with energy. Braviary gave out a fearsome cry, and charged up a wing attack with his good wing. He couldn't fly into the air to gain the advantage, but he did leap up. The riolu's eyes widened, as he realized that picking a fight with a fully evolved bird pokemon was always a bad idea.
Braviary came crashing down, only to find that the little whelp had dogged to the side.
He stared at the riolu, gaging his next moves. He was injured and his sight was impaired, so Braviary wasn't sure if even Aerial Ace would hit, but he had to try.
However, the whelp took the opportunity to slam a glowing hand into Braviary. He gasped, as all his muscles spasmed and locked in place. He toppled backwards as the blow hit his belly, and realized that he couldn't move. He shrieked in rage and frustration, at how easily he was being beaten by some child who he had a type advantage against!
This ceased to be about simply defending himself from some arrogant kid, this became a matter of pride. It was all he had left.
He shrieked again, loud and earsplitting. The riolu staggered backwards, clutching at his sensitive ears. It gave Valiant enough time to get up, and leap into the air once more. Riolu's eyes widened as he saw the big bird bearing down on him, their good wing glowing white.
"STOP!", a shrill voice cried out. Green vines wrapped around Braviary, trying to pull him backwards. Normally, the thin vines of a grass-type would be of no issue to him, but without the ability to flap his wings, they slowed him down far too much for his liking. Luckily for him, the riolu was frozen in place, and didn't take the chance to defeat Braviary.
"Please, we don't want to fight!", Snivy cried.
Braviary roared, and forced himself to turn around, flinging the green snake towards the Riolu, and freeing them from the vine's hold. The Snivy landed on her feet, and wrapped her vine's around the Riolu instead, dragging him backwards and away from the enraged Braviary.
Braviary, however, was enraged beyond reason. He didn't care if continuing the fight would sap precious strength from him. He didn't care if, really, the pokemon before him were just stupid children. All he wanted was to hurt anyone he could as badly as the world had hurt him. To salvage what tiny shred of honour and dignity he had left. That of a warrior!
This time, he extended both of his wings, ignoring the searing pain in his broken shoulder, and charged at the whelps with a full power wing attack. Snivy batted at him uselessly with a Vine Whip, as his attack crashed into the both of them, knocking them out.
Valiant stood over them triumphantly, before realizing what had happened. As the adrenaline from the battle drained out of him, he collapsed.
